Description

Technical Field

[0001] This invention relates to the technical field of heat dissipation devices for electronic devices, and more particularly to an integrated heat sink that integrates heat pipe immersion cooling by placing the heat dissipation section of a heat pipe inside a dedicated immersion tube and circulating coolant through the immersion tube to improve the efficiency of forced convection cooling. Background Technology

[0002] Commonly known all-in-one liquid coolers are used for processor cooling and heat dissipation in desktop computers, as shown in CN214708446U and US11566847B2. Their structure mainly includes a liquid radiator, a liquid pump, and a liquid cooling head. The liquid radiator has two liquid tanks and a heat pipe assembly connecting the two tanks. The heat pipe assembly includes multiple pipes and heat dissipation fins arranged between the pipes. The liquid pump, located in one of the liquid tanks, includes a motor and fan blades to drive the coolant circulation within the liquid radiator. The liquid cooling head is attached to the bottom of one of the liquid tanks and communicates with it, allowing the coolant to flow through it during circulation. This allows the liquid cooling head to contact heat sources such as the processor, enabling cooling, and heat dissipation is achieved through the heat pipe assembly.

[0003] However, conventional liquid cooling head designs only have one inlet and one outlet port connecting to the liquid tank of the aforementioned liquid radiator, allowing coolant to enter and exit the cavity within the liquid cooling head. This easily leads to flow rate limitations when the coolant enters and exits the liquid cooling head, making it unable to respond in real time to sudden increases in high heat loads. Furthermore, the cavity within the liquid cooling head is composed of numerous micro-ribs, which often result in insufficient flow rate or uneven flow field distribution of the coolant when flowing through the heat source region, leading to suboptimal heat exchange efficiency. Therefore, how to overcome the shortcomings of conventional integrated liquid cooling radiator technology is the challenge that this invention aims to address. Summary of the Invention

[0004] In view of the above, the present invention addresses the deficiencies of the prior art. The main objective of the present invention is to provide an integrated heat sink with heat pipe immersion cooling. By setting at least one immersion pipe with a large flow cross-section in the heat dissipation pipe assembly, and extending the heat dissipation sections of one or both ends of each heat pipe into the immersion pipe, the coolant driven by the liquid pump flows along the immersion pipe through each heat dissipation section to form concentrated and continuous forced convection cooling, thereby achieving the effect of quickly removing heat from the heat pipe.

[0005] A secondary objective of this invention is to provide various joining structures for the heat pipe and the second liquid box. In addition to directly welding the heat pipe to the second liquid box, the heat pipe can also be first welded to a fixing plate of the same material, and then the fixing plate can be assembled into the second liquid box using fixing parts and sealing rings, so as to avoid the process difficulties and poor joint caused by direct welding of dissimilar metals.

[0006] To achieve the above objectives, the present invention proposes an integrated heat sink with heat pipe immersion cooling. A preferred embodiment includes: a first liquid tank and a second liquid tank, spaced apart from each other; a heat dissipation pipe assembly disposed between the first and second liquid tanks, comprising a plurality of first pipes, a plurality of second pipes, at least one immersion pipe, and a plurality of heat dissipation fins; both ends of each of the first pipes, second pipes, and immersion pipe are fixed to and connected to the first and second liquid tanks; wherein the flow cross-section of the immersion pipe is larger than the flow cross-sections of the first and second pipes, and the first liquid tank, second liquid tank, first pipes, second pipes, and immersion pipe are filled with coolant; a liquid pump disposed in the first liquid tank for driving the coolant to circulate through the first pipes, second pipes, and immersion pipe; and a base disposed below the second liquid tank, having a bottom surface facing the heat source, the bottom surface having one or more recessed grooves extending to both sides of the base. And a number of heat pipes, each of which is a copper pipe closed at both ends and filled with a working fluid. Each heat pipe has a heat-absorbing section embedded in a groove in the base. One or both ends of the heat-absorbing section are bent to form a heat-dissipating section. The heat-dissipating section of each heat pipe passes through the interior of the second liquid box and extends into the immersion tube, so that when the coolant circulates through the immersion tube, it covers the outer periphery of each heat-dissipating section, so as to remove the heat transferred from the heat-absorbing section to the heat-dissipating section.

[0007] In one preferred embodiment, the immersion tube contains most of the heat dissipation sections, and a coolant flow gap extending along the length of the heat dissipation sections is formed between the inner wall of the immersion tube and the outer wall of the heat dissipation sections.

[0008] One preferred technical solution is that the immersion tube is a flat elliptical tube with an elliptical cross-section, and the heat dissipation sections of the heat pipes extend side by side into each of the immersion tubes.

[0009] In one preferred technical solution, each heat pipe is a U-shaped tube, the heat-absorbing section is exposed on the bottom surface of the base and is processed to form a heat source contact surface, and these heat source contact surfaces together constitute a plane or a micro-protruding arc surface.

[0010] One preferred technical solution is that the outer wall of the heat dissipation section is provided with a plurality of heat dissipation fins, which are located in the coolant flow gap.

[0011] In one preferred embodiment, the bottom surface of the base is combined with a solid heat-conducting plate or a heat-equalizing plate filled with liquid, and the heat-conducting plate and the heat-equalizing plate cover the heat-absorbing section of the heat pipe.

[0012] One preferred technical solution further includes replacing the base with a heat spreader plate, the heat spreader plate having a flow space inside and being filled with the working fluid; and the heat pipes having no heat absorption section, and the lower end of the heat dissipation section being directly connected to the flow space of the heat spreader plate.

[0013] In one preferred embodiment, the first liquid box includes a first box body and a first box cover. The first box body is provided with a plurality of pipe insertion holes corresponding to the first and second rows of pipes, and an immersion tube insertion hole corresponding to the immersion tube. The second liquid box includes a second box body and a second box cover. The second box body is provided with a plurality of pipe insertion holes corresponding to the first and second rows of pipes, and an immersion tube insertion hole corresponding to the immersion tube. The second box cover of the second liquid box is provided with a plurality of through holes for the heat dissipation section of each heat pipe to pass through, and the plurality of through holes correspond to the immersion tube insertion hole.

[0014] In one preferred embodiment, each heat pipe has a stop ring on its outer wall, and the heat dissipation section is formed above the stop ring; each heat dissipation section is inserted into and welded to the through hole of the second cover, and the stop ring abuts against the outer surface of the second cover.

[0015] One preferred technical solution further includes a fixing plate having a plurality of fixing holes corresponding to each of the heat pipes, each heat dissipation segment being inserted into and welded to the fixing holes; the fixing plate being connected to the second cover through a fixing member, so that the heat dissipation segments pass through the perforations of the second cover and extend into the immersion tube; and the fixing plate pressing a sealing ring around the perforations corresponding to the perforations.

[0016] One preferred technical solution further includes two fixing plates, each fixing plate having a plurality of fixing holes corresponding to one end of each heat pipe, the heat dissipation section of each heat pipe being inserted into and welded to the fixing holes of the two fixing plates; the two fixing plates are respectively connected to the second cover through fixing members, so that each heat dissipation section passes through the perforations of the second cover and extends into the immersion tube; and the fixing plates respectively press a sealing ring surrounding the perforations.

[0017] This invention utilizes immersion tubes with large cross-sections to house multiple heat dissipation sections, maintaining gaps between the inner wall of the immersion tubes and the outer walls of the heat dissipation sections for coolant flow. This forces the coolant to flow along the length of the heat dissipation sections, reducing coolant circulation or stagnation within the wide liquid tank and increasing the convective heat transfer coefficient of the heat dissipation section surfaces. Furthermore, after the working fluid in the heat-absorbing section vaporizes upon heating, it can rapidly flow to one or both heat dissipation sections. Simultaneously, the heat dissipation sections are cooled by the flowing coolant in the immersion tubes, shortening the time required for vapor condensation and working fluid return, thus improving the heat pipe's response speed to instantaneous heat loads. Moreover, this invention integrates the first row of tubes, the second row of tubes, and the immersion tubes into a single heat dissipation tube assembly. The heat absorbed by the immersion tubes is carried away by the circulating coolant and dissipated outwards through the tube walls and adjacent heat dissipation fins. Therefore, it functions as both a heat pipe condensation channel and a liquid-cooled radiator heat dissipation channel, reducing the need for external piping and additional cooling chambers.

[0018] To more clearly illustrate the structural features, technical means, and specific objectives and functions achieved by the present invention, the present invention will be further described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and specific embodiments. The directional terms such as "up," "down," "left," and "right" used below are for ease of explanation in conjunction with the orientations shown in the accompanying drawings and are not intended to limit the actual installation or use direction of the present invention.

[0020] See Figures 1 to 4As shown, a first preferred embodiment of the integrated heat sink with heat pipe immersion cooling of the present invention includes a first liquid tank 10, a second liquid tank 20, a heat dissipation pipe assembly 30, a liquid pump 40, a base 50, and a plurality of heat pipes 60; the heat dissipation pipe assembly 30 is erected between the first liquid tank 10 and the second liquid tank 20, and the base 50 is disposed below the second liquid tank 20, so as to form an integrated heat dissipation structure in which the liquid cooling radiator, the heat pipes 60 and the heat source are integrated.

[0021] like Figure 3 and Figure 4 As shown, the first liquid box 10 includes a first box body 11 and a first box cover 12 connected together. The first box body 11 has a plurality of pipe insertion holes 13 and immersion pipe insertion holes 14 on the side facing the heat dissipation pipe assembly 30; the plurality of pipe insertion holes 13 correspond to the upper ends of the first pipe 31 and the second pipe 32, and the immersion pipe insertion holes 14 correspond to the upper ends of the immersion pipes 33, so that the upper ends of each pipe are inserted, welded and connected to the first liquid box 10. The first liquid box 10 has a pump chamber 15, a flow hole 16 and a partition 17 for installing the liquid pump 40 to form an intake side and an exhaust side, so as to establish the pressure difference required for circulation between the flow channels of the heat dissipation pipe assembly 30.

[0022] The second liquid tank 20 is spaced apart from the first liquid tank 10, and includes a second tank body 21 and a second tank cover 22 joined together. The side of the second tank body 21 facing the heat dissipation pipe assembly 30 has, like the first tank body 11 described above, a plurality of pipe insertion holes 23 and immersion pipe insertion holes 24 (e.g., ...). Figure 4 (As shown); the plurality of pipe insertion holes 23 correspond to the lower ends of the first pipe 31 and the second pipe 32, and the immersion pipe insertion holes 24 correspond to the lower ends of the immersion pipes 33, so that the lower ends of each pipe are inserted, welded and connected to the second liquid box 20, so that the first liquid box 10, the second liquid box 20 and the heat dissipation pipe group 30 together form a closed coolant circulation space. The second box cover 22 is provided with a plurality of through holes 25 corresponding to the two ends of each heat pipe 60. Each through hole 25 is divided into two groups and is located within the range of the immersion pipe insertion hole 24 at the lower end of the immersion pipe 33.

[0023] The heat dissipation pipe assembly 30 includes a plurality of first pipes 31, a plurality of second pipes 32, at least one submerged pipe 33, and a plurality of heat dissipation fins 34. Each of the first pipes 31 and each of the second pipes 32 may be a flat pipe to increase the contact area with the heat dissipation fins 34. The submerged pipe 33 is located on both sides of the first pipes 31 and the second pipes 32 or at a predetermined position. The heat dissipation fins 34 are disposed between adjacent first pipes 31, second pipes 32, and submerged pipes 33 to increase the heat exchange area with the outside air.

[0024] The immersion tube 33 referred to in this invention is a tube with internal coolant flow channels that can accommodate the heat dissipation sections 62 of a plurality of heat pipes 60 extending into it. Preferably, it is a flat elliptical tube with an elliptical cross-section. The flow cross-section of the immersion tube 33 is larger than the flow cross-section of any of the first row of pipes 31 or the second row of pipes 32, allowing a plurality of heat dissipation sections 62 to be arranged side by side within the immersion tube 33, and maintaining a continuous flow gap between the outer wall of the heat dissipation section 62 and the inner wall of the immersion tube 33. The upper and lower ends of the immersion tube 33 are respectively connected to the first liquid box 10 and the second liquid box 20, therefore the coolant 35 inside is not a static liquid, but a circulating fluid driven by the liquid pump 40.

[0025] The coolant 35 can be pure water, a mixture of water and ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, a dielectric coolant, or other fluids suitable for heat dissipation in electronic devices. The coolant 35 is filled in the first liquid tank 10, the second liquid tank 20, the first pipe 31, the second pipe 32, and the immersion pipe 33. The pump 40 is located in the first liquid tank 10 and includes a motor 41 and an impeller 42 driven by the motor 41. The impeller 42 rotates to apply pressure to the coolant 35, causing the coolant 35 to flow... Figure 4 The arrows indicate that the flow circulates in each of the aforementioned channels.

[0026] When the liquid pump 40 is operating, the coolant 35 can be diverted through a plurality of first rows of pipes 31, a plurality of second rows of pipes 32, and a submerged pipe 33 according to the flow guide configuration inside the first liquid box 10, and then converge in the second liquid box 20 or the first liquid box 10 before returning to the liquid pump 40. The actual flow directions of the first rows of pipes 31, the second rows of pipes 32, and the submerged pipe 33 can be the same, opposite, or form parallel branches. As long as the coolant 35 can circulate through the submerged pipe 33 and continuously sweep across each heat dissipation section 62, the cooling effect of the present invention can be achieved; therefore Figure 4 The arrow shown is only an example of a better flow direction.

[0027] The base 50 is a block made of copper, aluminum, or other highly thermally conductive metal. It has a bottom surface 51 facing the heat source, and multiple recessed grooves 52 extending parallel to each other and reaching both sides of the base 50 are recessed upwards from the bottom surface 51. The cross-sectional shape of the grooves 52 can be matched with the shape of the heat pipe 60, such as semi-circular, arc-shaped, or polygonal, to increase the contact area between the base 50 and the heat pipe 60. During installation, the base 50 can be fixed to the processor, power component, or other heat source using fasteners, screws, or mounting brackets.

[0028] Each heat pipe 60 is a copper tube closed at both ends, filled with a working fluid 63 and pressurized appropriately. Each heat pipe 60 is generally bent into a U-shape or other shape, with its transverse portion forming a heat absorption section 61, and the portion extending upwards at one or both ends of the heat absorption section 61 forming a heat dissipation section 62. The heat absorption section 61 is embedded, welded, or pressed into the groove 52 of the base 50, and the portion of the heat absorption section 61 exposed on the bottom surface 51 can be processed into a heat source contact surface 65; each heat source contact surface 65 can together form a plane or a slightly protruding arc surface to fit the surface of the heat source. The heat dissipation section 62 of each heat pipe 60 passes through the perforations 25 of the second cover 22 and extends into the immersion tube 33; the heat dissipation section 62 remains closed, so that the working fluid 63 in the heat pipe 60 and the coolant 35 in the immersion tube 33 are isolated from each other and do not communicate, but the two can exchange heat efficiently through the tube wall of the heat pipe 60.

[0029] In use, the heat generated by heat sources such as the processor is transferred to the internal working fluid 63 via the heat-absorbing section 61 of the heat pipe 60. This causes the working fluid 63 to absorb heat and vaporize or form a high-temperature fluid, which then rapidly moves towards the heat dissipation section 62. Since the heat dissipation sections 62 are located within the immersion pipes 33, the coolant 35 driven by the pump 40 flows along the outer periphery of each heat dissipation section 62, quickly absorbing and carrying away heat. After the working fluid 63 condenses or cools down, it returns to the heat-absorbing section 61 via capillary action and gravity. The heat absorbed by the coolant 35 is transferred to the outside air through the pipe walls and heat dissipation fins 34 as it flows through the first row of pipes 31, the second row of pipes 32, and the immersion pipe 33, forming a continuous circulating heat dissipation. This invention utilizes the immersion pipes 33 to limit the flow range of the coolant 35, allowing for a more concentrated flow velocity when the same flow rate passes around the heat dissipation section 62. The length direction of the heat dissipation section 62 is approximately parallel to the main flow direction within the immersion pipe 33, which helps to renew the temperature boundary layer on the surface of the heat dissipation section 62. Furthermore, since each heat pipe 60 has a heat dissipation section 62 that is simultaneously cooled by the flowing coolant 35, the condensation capacity, reflux rate, and instantaneous heat load bearing capacity of the heat pipe 60 can be improved.

[0030] For example Figure 3 As shown, in the first preferred embodiment, a retaining ring 64 is formed on the outer wall of each heat pipe 60, and the pipe section above the retaining ring 64 constitutes a heat dissipation section 62. During assembly, each heat dissipation section 62 passes through the corresponding perforation 25 from the outside of the second cover 22, and the retaining ring 64 abuts against the outer surface of the second cover 22 to limit the depth of the heat dissipation section 62 into the immersion tube 33; then the heat dissipation section 62 is fixed to the periphery of the perforation 25 by furnace welding, hard welding, laser welding or other sealing joint methods to prevent the coolant 35 from leaking out of the perforation 25. This structure is suitable for heat pipes 60 and second cover 22 to be made of the same material or materials that are easy to weld together.

[0031] See Figure 5 and Figure 6 As shown, this is the second preferred embodiment of the present invention. Its main structure and heat dissipation principle are the same as those of the first preferred embodiment, except that a fixing plate 70 is added. The fixing plate 70 is a plate that can cover both sets of perforations 25 at the same time, and has a plurality of fixing holes 71 corresponding to both ends of each heat pipe 60. During assembly, the heat dissipation section 62 of each heat pipe 60 can be passed through the fixing holes 71 first, and then the heat pipe 60 and the fixing plate 70 can be welded into a pre-assembly. When assembled into the second liquid box 20, each heat dissipation section 62 passes through the perforations 25 and extends into the immersion tube 33 respectively. The fixing plate 70 is also provided with a plurality of fixing member perforations 72, and the second box cover 22 can be provided with corresponding fixing screw holes 27, so that screws and other fixing members 73 pass through the fixing member perforations 72 and are locked in the fixing screw holes 27. The second box cover 22 can be recessed with an annular groove 26 around each of the two sets of perforations 25, and a sealing ring 80 is embedded in each annular groove 26. When the retaining plate 70 is locked to the second cover 22, the retaining plate 70 presses against the two sealing rings 80, so that both sets of perforations 25 are surrounded and sealed, thereby preventing the coolant 35 from leaking out from the joint surface between the retaining plate 70 and the second cover 22.

[0032] See Figure 7 and Figure 8 As shown, this is the third preferred embodiment of the present invention, which employs two separate fixing plates 70. Each fixing plate 70 is provided with a fixing hole 71 corresponding to a heat dissipation section 62, and is first welded to the heat dissipation section 62 at one end of each heat pipe 60; then, the two fixing plates 70 are respectively locked to the second cover 22 through fixing members 73, and each is pressed with a sealing ring 80. This type of separate fixing plate 70 allows the two sets of heat dissipation sections 62 to be assembled independently, reducing the flatness error caused by the large area of a single fixing plate 70, and facilitating maintenance or replacement. In the above-mentioned second and third preferred embodiments, the fixing plate 70 is preferably made of the same material as the heat pipe 60 or a material that is easy to weld, for example, both the heat pipe 60 and the fixing plate 70 are made of copper; the second liquid box 20 can be made of aluminum or other lightweight materials. This allows for reliable welding of homogeneous metals first, and then the fixing piece 70 is mechanically joined to the second liquid box 20 by the fixing piece 73 and the sealing ring 80, avoiding brittle interfaces, electrochemical corrosion or yield reduction caused by direct welding of dissimilar metals such as copper and aluminum.

[0033] To ensure the working fluid 63 can rapidly flow back from the heat dissipation section 62 to the heat absorption section 61, a capillary reflux structure can be formed on the inner wall of the heat pipe 60, such as multiple capillary grooves extending along the length of the pipe, a sintered metal powder layer, a metal mesh layer, or a combination thereof. The working fluid 63 can be water, alcohol, refrigerant, or other phase change fluids, depending on the predetermined operating temperature. The number, diameter, length, and bending shape of the heat pipes 60 can also be adjusted to match the area and heat dissipation power of the heat source.

[0034] The heat-absorbing section 61 of the heat pipes 60 of the present invention is not limited to being exposed below the base 50; other thermally conductive structures can also be used to contact heat sources such as processors. Figure 9 and Figure 10 As shown, a solid heat-conducting plate 53 can be welded to the bottom surface 51 of the base 50. Or as... Figure 11 and Figure 12 As shown, a vapor chamber 54 filled with liquid can be welded to the bottom surface 51 of the base 50. The heat-conducting plate 53 or vapor chamber 54 covers and contacts the heat-absorbing section 61 of the heat pipe 60, thereby allowing the heat-conducting plate 53 or vapor chamber 54 to contact heat sources such as the processor. See also... Figure 13 and Figure 14 As shown, the present invention can also use a heat spreader 54 to replace the base 50. The heat spreader 54 has a flow space 55 inside and is filled with working fluid. Instead of the heat absorption section 61 in the above embodiment, the heat dissipation section 62 is directly connected to the flow space 55 of the heat spreader 54, which can achieve the same effect as the present invention.

[0035] Additionally, see Figure 13 , 14 and Figure 15 , 16 As shown, in another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the outer wall of the heat dissipation section 62 of the heat pipes 60 is provided with a plurality of heat dissipation fins 66. These heat dissipation fins 66 are located in the coolant flow gap of the immersion pipe 33, which can improve the heat dissipation efficiency of the heat dissipation section 62. In a specific implementation, the heat dissipation section 62 is passed through one or two fixing pieces 70 and welded. During assembly, the heat dissipation section 62 and the heat dissipation fins 66 are passed through the elongated perforation 25 on the bottom surface of the second liquid box 20, and then the fixing pieces 70 are mechanically connected to the second liquid box 20 through the fixing member 73 and the sealing ring 80.

[0036] See also Figures 1 to 3 As shown, fan brackets 90 can be installed on at least one or both sides of the heat dissipation pipe assembly 30, and a fan (not shown) can be installed on the fan bracket 90 to force airflow over the heat dissipation fins 34, the first row of pipes 31, the second row of pipes 32, and the immersion pipe 33. The number of fans, the airflow direction, and the speed can be controlled according to the temperature of the coolant 35, the temperature of the heat source, or the operating status of the liquid pump 40, so as to further improve the efficiency of the liquid cooling pipe in dissipating heat to the external environment.

[0037] In summary, the integrated heat sink with immersion cooling of the heat pipe of the present invention utilizes the immersion tubes 33 in the heat dissipation pipe assembly 30 to respectively accommodate the heat dissipation sections 62 of the heat pipe 60, and allows the coolant 35 to circulate through the immersion tubes 33 driven by the liquid pump 40. This effectively improves the condensation and heat dissipation rate of the heat pipe 60, reduces dead zones in the flow field, and also considers structural integration and mass production assembly. Its technical means correspond to its expected effects, therefore, an invention patent application is filed in accordance with the law.
