Abstract

The present invention generally relates to systems and methods for administering therapeutic gas to patients in need thereof by receiving breathing gas from a high-frequency ventilator by at least measuring the flow of an enhanced therapeutic gas (e.g., nitric oxide, NO, etc.). At least some of these enhanced therapeutic gas flow measurements can be used to address an unexpected event that may sometimes occur when a sidestream therapeutic gas flow is mixed with breathing gas received by a patient from a breathing circuit associated with a high-frequency ventilator.By using at least some of these enhanced therapeutic gas flow measurements, the dose of side-flow therapeutic gas mixed into the breathing gas received by the patient may be at least more accurate and / or under-delivery of therapeutic gas in the breathing gas may be avoided and / or reduced.
