SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR ACTION AGAINST BIOLOGICAL POLLUTION

Abstract

A system for acting against biofouling (1) on a surface subject to biofouling (1201) of an object (1200), providing anti-biofouling light (211)-through an optical means (220) to said surface subject to biofouling, wherein the anti-biofouling light system (1) comprises: (a) a lighting unit (200) which comprises (i) a light source (210) configured to produce anti-biofouling light (211) and (ii) wherein said optical means (220) is configured to receive at least a portion of the anti-biofouling light (211).wherein the optical means (220) includes an emitting surface (222) configured to provide at least a portion of said anti-biofouling light (211); and (b) a control system (300) configured to control the intensity of the anti-biofouling light (211) in response to one or more of: (i) a feedback signal associated with a biofouling hazard and (ii) a timer for varying the intensity of the anti-biofouling light based on time (211).
