Abstract
Surgical instrument (1) comprising a handle (10) having a longitudinal axis defining a generally forward and a backward direction, an elongated shaft (12) extending from within the interior of the handle (10) through the front end of the handle (10), an end effector (14) arranged at the distal end of the elongated shaft (12), and a rotatable shaft support element (320) capable of allowing the elongated shaft (12) to extend from the interior of the handle (10) to the exterior and to rotate with the shaft (12) when the latter is rotated relative to the handle (10), wherein the rotatable shaft support element (320) has one or more stop elements (1600) capable of engaging with complementary stop elements (1602, 1604) on the handle (10), and wherein a second rotatable shaft support element (28), arranged at a proximal end of the handle (10),which is opposite a front end of the handle (10).
