Description

[0001] The invention relates to a ventilation device for a vehicle, and more particularly to a narrow-type ventilation device for a vehicle capable of adjusting the wind direction of a vertical blade and the opening and closing of an air damper together by operating an integrated control knob incorporated in the narrow-type ventilation device.

[0002] With the expansion of a device cluster and an AVN (Audio, Video, Navigation) system mounted in a vehicle interior, the designed position of a vent from which air is discharged depending on the operation of an air conditioner and a heater tends to shift to the lower portion of a center dashboard, and in particular, the vent tends to be designed to have a narrow external appearance.

[0003] Generally, the air vent includes a center air vent mounted on the center dashboard at the front between a driver's seat and a passenger seat, a side air vent mounted on a crash pad at the front of the driver's seat and the passenger seat, and so on.

[0004] Fig. 1 is a view illustrating an external appearance of a middle vent of existing vents, and Fig. 2 is a view schematically illustrating a connection structure between an air volume control knob and an air damper.

[0005] As in Fig. 1, a plurality of horizontal blades 11 and vertical blades 12 are rotatably mounted at the outlet of a vent 10, and an air volume control knob 13 for adjusting the vertical angles of the horizontal blades 11 and the horizontal angles of the vertical blades 12 is mounted on one of the horizontal blades 11.

[0006] In addition, an air damper control knob 14 is rotatably mounted next to the outlet of the ventilation opening 10.

[0007] As in Fig. 2, a louver 15 is mounted at the rear in the vent 10 so as to be openable and closeable, and is connected to the louver control knob 14 via a predetermined connecting structure 16.

[0008] Accordingly, when the louver control knob 14 is rotated, the louver 15 is rotated in a closing or opening direction by the predetermined link structure 16 meshing therewith, thereby adjusting the volume of air discharged to the interior through the vent. When the louver 15 is closed, the airflow to the interior is blocked.

[0009] However, since the existing air vent has a structure in which the horizontal and vertical vanes are subject to the external appearance, the air vent occupies a large installation space in a center dashboard or baffle, resulting in a small degree of freedom in the design of an equipment group and an AVN system arranged around the air vent.

[0010] Therefore, a narrow ventilation opening with a single horizontal wing is used to improve the degree of freedom in the design of the device group and the AVN system.

[0011] However, in order to further improve the degree of freedom in the design of the device group and the AVN system, studies are conducted on a narrow vent directly integrated with a louver control knob without an existing louver control knob.

[0012] JP 2009-160 981 A describes a narrow ventilation device for a vehicle, comprising a single horizontal blade mounted in an outlet position of a narrow air duct so as to be vertically rotatable, the single horizontal blade being exposed on an outer side thereof.

[0013] DE 10 2011 050 435 A1 describes a ventilation device for a vehicle, comprising a horizontal blade that is vertically rotatable, an integrated control knob mounted on the horizontal blade such that it is horizontally movable, air flaps mounted in a rear space in the narrow air duct, wherein an opening angle of each of the air flaps is adjustable, a gear assembly arranged between a rear surface of the integrated control knob and rotating shafts of the air flaps for transmitting power and having a plurality of gears, and a plurality of vertical blades mounted behind the single horizontal blade in an interior space of the narrow air duct such that they are rotated in the left or right direction by a single link piece during a movement of the integrated control knob to the left or right.

[0014] Another ventilation device for a vehicle is known from DE 10 2016 105 861 A1.

[0015] The invention provides a narrow ventilation device for a vehicle, in which an integrated control knob is directly mounted on a single horizontal blade used in a narrow ventilation device to adjust wind directions of vertical blades in the left and right directions and the opening angle of an air flap, and in which a gear assembly having a plurality of gears is mounted between the integrated control knob and the air flap arranged in the rear space of an air duct, so that by the maximum movement of the integrated control knob in one direction and the simultaneous meshing of the gear assembly, the opening angle of the air flap can be easily adjusted.

[0016] The invention further provides a narrow ventilation device for a vehicle configured to control air discharged into a vehicle in the left and right directions, wherein, when an integrated control knob mounted on a single horizontal blade is configured to be operated in the left or right direction, a plurality of vertical blades arranged behind the single horizontal blade are rotated together in the left or right direction.

[0017] This is achieved according to the invention by a narrow ventilation device for a vehicle according to the features of claim 1. Advantageous further developments are described in the subclaims.

[0018] According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention, a narrow type ventilation device (or a narrow type ventilation device or an air duct device) for a vehicle comprises a single horizontal blade mounted in an outlet position of a narrow air duct so as to be vertically rotatable, the single horizontal blade being exposed on an outer side thereof, an integrated control knob mounted on the single horizontal blade so as to be horizontally movable, air flaps (or rotary flaps, dampers orDamping elements) mounted in a rear space in the narrow air duct, wherein an opening angle of each of the air flaps is adjustable, a gear assembly arranged between a rear surface of the integrated control knob and rotating shafts of the air flaps for transmitting power, the gear assembly comprising a plurality of gears, and a plurality of vertical vanes mounted immediately behind the single horizontal vane in an interior space of the narrow air duct such that they are rotated simultaneously in the left or right direction by a single link during movement of the integrated control knob to the left or right.

[0019] The integrated control knob may have a sliding opening passing horizontally therethrough for insertion of the single horizontal wing.

[0020] The gear assembly may include a plurality of drive gears mounted on the integrated control knob and one of the vertical vanes, driven gears mounted on the rotating shafts of the louvers, and a plurality of carrier gears (or transmission gears) disposed between the drive gears and the driven gears to transmit rotational power from the drive gears to the driven gears.

[0021] The drive gears may include a wing knob rack mounted on the back surface of the integrated control knob, a front wing gear formed on a front end portion of a centermost vertical wing of the vertical wings to mesh with the wing knob rack, and a main gear disposed at the bottom of a lower plate of the narrow air duct and coaxially fixed to a lower pivot pin of the centermost vertical wing.

[0022] The main gear may have a locking bolt (or locking bolt or holding bolt) formed on one side thereof and passing through the lower plate of the narrow air duct, and the centralmost vertical wing may have a locking groove (or receiving groove) formed in a lower rear end portion thereof, the locking bolt being inserted and fixed in the locking groove.

[0023] The lower plate of the narrow air duct may be provided with a slot for limiting an angle of left-right rotation of the main gear, and the locking bolt may be inserted through the slot so as to be horizontally movable.

[0024] The carrier gears may include a first transmission gear rotatably mounted on the bottom of the narrow air duct to mesh with the main gear of the drive gears, a second transmission gear meshing with the first transmission gear, and a third transmission gear having a larger diameter than the second transmission gear. The second transmission gear and the third transmission gear are vertically stacked to be integrated with each other and are rotatably mounted on the bottom of the narrow air duct.

[0025] The driven gears can mesh with the third transmission gear of the carrier gears while being coaxially connected to the rotating shafts of the air flaps mounted in the rear space in the narrow air duct.

[0026] The narrow air duct, in consideration of having a greater horizontal length than a vertical height thereof, has a partition wall formed in the rear space thereof to separate the rear space into left and right spaces, and the louvers in the respective rear spaces separated by the partition wall are mounted to be openable or closable.

[0027] Meanwhile, upper and lower support plates for rotatably supporting the vertical vanes may be mounted on upper and lower plates in the interior of the narrow air duct, and each of the vertical vanes may have upper and lower hinge pins formed on upper and lower surfaces thereof, the upper and lower hinge pins being fixed by hinges to the upper and lower support plates, respectively.

[0028] The lower support plate may have a slot passing therethrough having the same shape as a slot formed in the lower plate of the narrow air duct.

[0029] Guide pins may be formed behind the upper pivot pins of the respective vertical wings to rotate the vertical wings simultaneously, and all the guide pins may be connected by hinges to the single connecting piece which is arranged horizontally.

[0032] It should be understood that the attached drawings are not necessarily to scale and present a somewhat simplified representation of various features illustrating the basic principles of the invention. [0033] In the figures, reference numerals refer to the same or equivalent parts of the present invention throughout the individual figures of the drawing.

[0034] Reference will now be made in detail to various embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings and described below. While the invention has been described in connection with exemplary embodiments, it is to be understood that the present description is not intended to limit the invention to these exemplary embodiments. On the contrary, the invention is intended to cover not only the exemplary embodiments, but also various alternatives, modifications, equivalents, and other embodiments which may be included within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.

[0035] As from Fig. 3, in a narrow ventilation device for a vehicle according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention, only a single horizontal blade 110 is exposed in the outlet position of a narrow air duct 100 on the outside.

[0036] The narrow air duct 100 has a longer horizontal length and a shorter vertical height compared to those of an existing air vent. Therefore, it is possible to ensure a larger space for installing an equipment group and an AVN system arranged in a center dashboard or baffle compared to an existing space, and to improve a degree of freedom in the design of the equipment group and the AVN system.

[0037] Furthermore, since the narrow air duct 100 has a longer horizontal length and a shorter vertical height compared to those of an existing vent, it is not possible to arrange a plurality of horizontal and vertical vanes in a concentrated manner at the outlet position of the narrow air duct 100. However, it is possible to achieve a simple aesthetic appearance by mounting only the single horizontal vane 110 vertically rotatably at the outlet position of the narrow air duct 100.

[0038] Accordingly, according to the invention, an integrated control knob is directly mounted on a single horizontal blade of a narrow ventilating device to adjust the left and right wind directions of vertical blades and the opening angle of a louver, and a gear assembly having a plurality of gears is mounted between the integrated control knob and the louver arranged in the rear space of an air duct, so that the left and right wind directions of the vertical blades can be adjusted within the limited range of the horizontal movement distance of the integrated control knob, and the opening angle of the louver can be easily adjusted by meshing the gear assembly when the integrated control knob is moved to the maximum in one direction.

[0039] With reference to the Fig. 4 to 8, in a narrow ventilation device for a vehicle according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the single horizontal blade 110 is vertically rotatably attached via a hinge in the outlet position of the narrow air duct 100, preferably to the center dashboard or the baffle plate corresponding to the outlet position of the narrow air duct 100, which makes it possible to adjust the air discharged into a vehicle in its upward and downward direction.

[0040] An integrated control knob 120 is mounted horizontally movable on the single horizontal blade 110 to adjust the wind directions of vertical blades 130 in the left and right directions and to adjust the opening angle of an air damper 300.

[0041] For this purpose, the integrated control knob 120 has a sliding opening 122 which passes horizontally therethrough, and the single horizontal wing 110 is inserted into the sliding opening 122 such that the integrated control knob 120 is movable to the left or right along the single horizontal wing 110.

[0042] Meanwhile, the air damper 300 is rotatably mounted in the rear space of the narrow air duct 100. The flow of air discharged into a vehicle is blocked when the air damper 300 is closed, while the air flow is permitted when the air damper 300 is open. Therefore, the volume of air discharged into a vehicle can be adjusted depending on the opening angle of the air damper 300.

[0043] In the present case, since the narrow air duct 100 in which air flows has a greater horizontal length than the vertical height thereof and therefore has a horizontally elongated cross-sectional area, there is a limitation in blocking the air flow with the opening or closing curve (or trajectory) of an air damper.

[0044] Accordingly, the narrow air duct 100 has a partition wall 102 formed in the rear space thereof to separate the rear space into two spaces (a left space and a right space), and the louver 300 has two louvers openably or closably mounted in the respective rear spaces separated by the partition wall 102.

[0045] In order to adjust the opening angles of the air flaps 300, a gear assembly 200 having a plurality of gears is arranged between the back surface of the integrated control knob 120 and rotary shafts 302 of the air flaps 300 for transmitting power.

[0046] The gear assembly 200 includes a plurality of drive gears 210 mounted on the integrated control knob 120 and a centermost vertical vane 130-1 of the vertical vanes 130, driven gears 230 directly connected to the rotating shafts 302 of the louvers 300, and a plurality of carrier gears 220 disposed between the drive gears 210 and the driven gears 230 to transmit rotational force from the drive gears 210 to the driven gears 230. The gear assembly 200 may include gears combined in various forms.

[0047] The drive gears 210 as a component of the gear assembly 200 include a wing knob rack 211 mounted on the back surface of the integrated control knob 120, a front wing gear 212 formed on the front end portion of the centermost vertical wing 130-1 of the vertical wings 130 to mesh with the wing knob rack 211, and a main gear 213 disposed at the bottom of a lower plate 104 of the narrow air duct 100 and coaxially fixed to a lower pivot pin 131 of the centermost vertical wing 130-1.

[0048] In this case, the front vane gear 212 and the main gear 213 are connected to each other so as to be rotatable simultaneously. For this purpose, a locking pin 214, which penetrates the lower plate 104 of the narrow air duct 100, is formed on one side of the main gear 213, and a locking groove 132, in which the locking pin 214 is inserted and fixed, is formed in the lower rear end portion of the centermost vertical vane 130-1.

[0049] Accordingly, when the integrated control knob 120 is moved left or right, the front vane gear 212 mounted on the centermost vertical vane 130-1 is rotated while the vane knob rack 211 mounted on the integrated control knob 120 is moved left or right, and then the main gear 213 coaxially fixed to the lower pivot pin 131 of the centermost vertical vane 130-1 is rotated in a direction opposite to that of the front vane gear 212.

[0050] In addition, since the locking pin 214 of the main gear 213 is fixed in the locking groove 132 of the centermost vertical wing 130-1, the main gear 213 can be operated together with the rotation of the front wing gear 212 mounted on the centermost vertical wing 130-1.

[0051] The reason why the locking pin 214 of the main gear 213 is fixed in the locking groove 132 of the centralmost vertical wing 130-1 is essentially to limit the movement distance of the integrated control knob 120 to the left or right.

[0052] For this purpose, the lower plate 104 of the narrow air duct 100 is provided with a slot 106 for limiting the angle of left-right rotation of the main gear 213, and the locking bolt 214 is inserted horizontally movable through the slot 106.

[0053] Therefore, the angle of rotation of the main gear 213 is limited to the distance by which the locking pin 214 is moved along the slot 106, and the angle of rotation of the front vane gear 212, which transmits the rotational force to the main gear 213, is also limited due to the limitation of the angle of rotation of the main gear 213. In addition, the horizontal movement distance of the vane knob rack 211, which rotates the front vane gear 212, is limited, and therefore the horizontal movement distance of the integrated control knob 120 provided with the vane knob rack 211 is limited.

[0054] The carrier gears 220 as the other component of the gear assembly 200 include a first transmission gear 221, a second transmission gear 222, and a third transmission gear 223. The second transmission gear 222 and the third transmission gear 223 are arranged one above the other in a unit (double gear).

[0055] In the present case, the first transmission gear 221 of the carrier wheels 220 is rotatably mounted on the bottom of the narrow air duct 100 so as to mesh with the main gear 213 of the drive wheels 210, and the second transmission gear 222, which meshes with the first transmission gear 221, and the third transmission gear 223, which has a larger diameter than the second transmission gear 222, are vertically stacked so as to be integrated with each other, and are rotatably mounted on the bottom of the narrow air duct 100.

[0056] The support wheels 220 are mounted concentrated at the bottom of the narrow air duct 100 because the narrow air duct 100 has a small interior space which is horizontally elongated and mutual interference with the air flow should be prevented.

[0057] The driven gears 230 are coaxially connected to the rotating shafts 302 of the louvers 300 mounted in the rear space of the narrow air duct 100 and are arranged at the bottom of the narrow air duct 100 so that the driven gears 230 are engaged with the third transmission gear 223 of the carrier gears 220.

[0058] As in the Fig. 4, Fig. 9 and Fig. 10, the vertical wings 130, which are simultaneously rotated left or right by a single connecting piece 140 during the left or right movement of the integrated control knob 120, are mounted immediately behind the single horizontal wing 110 in the interior of the narrow air duct 100.

[0059] In the present case, each of the vertical wings 130 has upper and lower hinge pins 133 and 131 formed on the upper and lower surfaces thereof. The upper hinge pins 133 are previously hinged to an upper support plate 150, and the lower hinge pins 131 are previously hinged to a lower support plate 160.

[0060] In addition, guide pins 134 are formed behind the upper hinge pins 133 of the respective vertical wings 130 to rotate the vertical wings 130 simultaneously, and all the guide pins 134 are fixed by hinges to the single connecting piece 140 which is arranged horizontally.

[0061] After the structure in which the upper and lower support plates 150 and 160 and the single joint 140 are coupled to the vertical vanes 130 is inserted into the interior of the narrow air duct 100, the upper support plate 150 is fixedly mounted to the upper plate 103 of the narrow air duct 100, and the lower support plate 160 is fixedly mounted to the lower plate 104 of the narrow air duct 100. As a result, the vertical vanes 130 are arranged behind the single horizontal vane 110 in a state of being spaced apart therefrom, and only the single horizontal vane 110 is exposed to the outside and becomes visible.

[0062] Meanwhile, since the lower support plate 160 is mounted in a state where it overlaps the lower plate 104 of the narrow air duct 100, the locking pin 214 of the main gear 213 cannot be inserted into the slot 106 of the lower plate 105 due to the lower support plate 160. Therefore, the lower support plate 160 has a slot passing therethrough and having the same shape as the slot 106 formed in the lower plate 104 of the narrow air duct 100.

[0063] The following is based on the Fig. 11A to 11D, the operation of the narrow ventilation device for a vehicle having the above configuration according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention is described.

[0064] First, when the integrated control knob 120 mounted on the single horizontal wing 110 is not moved to the left or right but is kept in a neutral position, all the vertical wings 130 are arranged in a row aligned in the forward and backward directions, and the louvers 300 are simultaneously arranged in a row aligned in the forward and backward directions so that they are in a fully open state, as shown in Fig. 11A is shown.

[0065] In the present case, when the operator moves the integrated control knob 120 left and right by a predetermined distance, the front vane gear 212 is rotated while the vane knob rack 211 formed on the rear surface of the integrated control knob 120 is moved left or right, and the centermost vertical vane 130-1 is rotated at the same time because the front vane gear 212 is formed on the centermost vertical vane 130-1.

[0066] As in the Fig. 9 and Fig. 10, all the guide pins 134 formed on the respective vertical wings 130, including the centermost vertical wing 130-1, are hingedly attached to the single link 140. Therefore, when the centermost vertical wing 130-1 is rotated about its upper and lower hinge pins 133 and 131, the guide pin 134 of the centermost vertical wing 130-1 pushes the single link 140 linearly in one direction.

[0067] Therefore, by the rectilinear movement of the single connecting piece 140, the remaining vertical wings 130 together with the central vertical wing 130-1 are rotated at the same angle as in Fig. 11B is shown.

[0068] When the vertical blades 130 are similarly rotated at a predetermined angle, the air discharged through the outlet of the narrow air duct 100, ie, the air flow can be adjusted in the left or right direction.

[0069] The following describes the process of adjusting the volume of air discharged through the outlet of the narrow air duct.

[0070] To adjust the air volume, the integrated control knob 120 is moved in one direction by a greater distance than the movement distance of the integrated control knob 120 during adjustment of the wind directions of the vertical blades 130.

[0071] As a result, the front vane gear 212 is rotated in one direction while the vane knob rack 211 formed on the back surface of the integrated control knob 120 is moved in one direction, and at the same time, the main gear 213 coaxially connected to the front vane gear 212 is rotated in a direction opposite to that of the front vane gear 212.

[0072] Next, the main gear 213 transmits a rotational force to the first transmission gear 221 of the carrier gears 220, and the first transmission gear 221 transmits the rotational force to the second transmission gear 222.

[0073] In addition, the third transmission gear 223, which is integrally layered on the second transmission gear 222 and has a large diameter, is rotated with the second transmission gear 222, and the third transmission gear 223 simultaneously rotates the driven gears 230.

[0074] In the present case, since the driven gears 230 are coaxially connected to the rotating shafts 302 of the air dampers 300, the air dampers 300 are rotated in a closing direction by the rotating force transmitted from the driven gears 230 so that they are in a partially closed state, as shown in Fig. 11C is shown.

[0075] Therefore, the air dampers 300 are partially closed, so that the volume of air discharged through the outlet of the narrow air duct 100 is reduced by resistance of the air dampers 300.

[0076] Here, when the integrated control knob 120 is maximally moved in one direction, the front vane gear 212 is maximally rotated in one direction, while the vane knob rack 211 formed on the back surface of the integrated control knob 120 is maximally moved in one direction, and at the same time, the main gear 213 coaxially connected to the front vane gear 212 is maximally rotated in a direction opposite to that of the front vane gear 212.

[0077] In this case, the maximum angle of rotation of the main gear 213 is limited to the distance by which the locking pin 214 is moved along the slot 106, and the maximum angle of rotation of the front vane gear 212, which transmits the rotational force to the main gear 213, is also limited due to the limitation of the maximum angle of rotation of the main gear 213. In addition, the movement distance of the integrated control knob 120, which is provided with the vane knob rack 211 for rotating the front vane gear 212, is limited to the maximum movement distance.

[0078] Next, the main gear 213 transmits rotational force to the first transmission gear 221 of the carrier gears 220, and the first transmission gear 221 transmits the rotational force to the second transmission gear 222. In addition, the third transmission gear 223, which is integrally layered on the second transmission gear 222 and has a large diameter, is rotated with the second transmission gear 222, and at the same time, the third transmission gear 223 maximally rotates the driven gears 230.

[0079] In the present case, since the driven gears 230 are coaxially connected to the rotating shafts 302 of the air dampers 300, the air dampers 300 are maximally rotated in a closing direction by the rotating force directly transmitted from the driven gears 230, so that they are in a fully closed state, as shown in Fig. 11D is shown.

[0080] Therefore, the air flaps 300 are completely closed, so that the air flow discharged into a vehicle through the outlet of the narrow air duct 100 is blocked.

[0081] As described above, the integrated control knob 120 is mounted on the single horizontal blade 110 used in the narrow ventilation device, with the result that by moving the integrated control knob 120 in the left or right direction, the wind directions of the vertical blades in the left or right direction can be smoothly adjusted, and by moving the integrated control knob 120 to the maximum in one direction, the opening angle of each louver 300 can be easily adjusted.

[0082] As apparent from the above description, the invention has the following effects.

[0083] First, an integrated control knob is mounted on a single horizontal blade used in the narrow ventilation device, with the result that depending on the moving distance of the integrated control knob, the wind directions of the vertical blades in the left and right directions can be smoothly adjusted and the opening angle of a louver can be easily adjusted.

[0084] Secondly, since the integrated control knob is functionally integrated with an existing air damper control knob, so that the existing air damper control knob is excluded from a center dashboard or baffle, it is possible to ensure a larger space for installing an equipment group and an AVN system and improve the degree of freedom in the design of the equipment group and the AVN system.
