Abstract

Electric vehicle (20), comprising: a chassis frame (26); a battery pack (22) including a support structure (30) vertically spaced at least partially from the chassis frame (26); characterized in that a multiple shear fastener (160) is provided which is constructed and arranged to fasten the chassis frame (26) to the support structure (30), wherein the multiple shear fastener (160) includes a sleeve (244), a shaft (242) extending through the sleeve (244) and along a centerline (C), a first head (238) in the form of a nut screwed to the shaft (242), and a second head (240) in the form of a threaded nut screwed to the shaft (242) and axially spaced from the first head (238), and wherein the first head (238) rests at least on the support structure (30) and a first end face (246) of the sleeve (244) and the second head (240) rests at least on the chassis frame (26) and an opposite second end face (247) of the sleeve (244), on which end face the sleeve (244) has an internal thread (250) which is in threaded engagement with an external thread (252) formed on the shaft (242); wherein the chassis frame (26) is tubular and the sleeve (244) is arranged within the chassis frame (26); and wherein the chassis frame (26) includes an outer shell (166) and a divider (168) having opposing first and second sides (186, 190), and wherein the outer shell (166) and the first side (186) define a first cell (188) and the outer shell (166) and the second side (190) define a second cell (192), and the sleeve (244) is disposed (192) in the second cell.
