Description

[0001] The invention relates to a dual-mass flywheel assembly.

[0002] A dual-mass flywheel (DMF) is a component of a drive train in modern motor vehicles, such as cars, and is used to reduce torsional vibrations.

[0003] In internal combustion engines, such as four-stroke reciprocating piston engines, the periodic sequence of the four strokes (intake, compression, power, exhaust) combined with the firing sequence of the individual cylinders leads to rotational irregularities in the crankshaft and the connected flywheel. Since a drivetrain is a system susceptible to torsional vibrations with characteristic natural frequencies due to its inherent inertia and stiffness, the rotational irregularities introduced by the internal combustion engine inevitably lead to torsional vibrations. These can be mitigated with a dual-mass flywheel.

[0004] In a dual-mass flywheel (DMF), the conventional flywheel mass is divided into a primary flywheel mass and a secondary flywheel mass. A torsional vibration damper (usually a combination of plain bearings and mounted coil springs) connects the two flywheel masses to provide torsionally smooth contact.

[0005] The dual-mass flywheel's main components are a primary flywheel on the engine side and a secondary flywheel on the transmission side, with springs and bearings between them. The springs connect the primary and secondary flywheels in a torsionally flexible manner. This allows both main components of the flywheel to exhibit a defined relative movement to each other. Some components are also equipped with a centrifugal pendulum mass, which serves to further dampen torsional vibrations occurring in the drivetrain.

[0006] Clutch engagement and the resulting friction on the clutch pressure plate and secondary flywheel can generate high temperatures during operation. During periods of particularly high load, this can result in material damage to the dual-mass flywheel or clutch pressure plate.

[0007] Due to the limited installation space and the relative movement between the flywheel components, component temperature measurement on all components rigidly connected to the secondary flywheel, in particular the clutch pressure plate, is not possible without extensive interventions in the system dynamics.

[0008] To avoid such high temperatures, CAE-based models are currently being used to estimate the thermal stress, and countermeasures are being implemented in a timely manner. However, the prediction accuracy is very limited. The CAE models are validated using specially instrumented flywheels that do not allow any relative movement between the components. These components are referred to as "blocked flywheels." This results in limited functionality of the flywheel, changes in damping behavior, and altered physical properties, particularly the thermal conductivity and thermal mass, which must be avoided.

[0009] WO 2018 / 015 774 A1 discloses a device for detecting the temperature between a rotating and a stationary component. The sensor concept is characterized by its exceptional efficiency in terms of energy consumption and the geometric dimensions of the assembly.

[0010] A temperature measuring device for a friction plate of a wet clutch is known from CN 1 07 084 798 A.

[0011] An operating method for a hydrodynamic coupling is known from US 10 099 696 B2.

[0012] A device for wireless temperature measurement in a flywheel is known from CN 2 07 408 107 U.

[0013] Another temperature measuring device for a wet clutch is known from CN 2 02 141 657 A.

[0014] From DE 10 2017 112 852 A1, a dual-mass flywheel assembly for a drive train of a motor vehicle is known, comprising a dual-mass flywheel and a sensor assembly designed for the wireless transmission of measurement data from a rotating component of the dual-mass flywheel to a stationary component of the sensor assembly.

[0015] From GB 2 475 061 A, another dual-mass flywheel assembly for a drive train of a motor vehicle is known, comprising a dual-mass flywheel and a sensor assembly, wherein the sensor assembly is designed for the wired transmission of measurement data.

[0016] From DE 195 19 363 A1, a dual-mass flywheel assembly for a drive train of a motor vehicle is known, comprising a dual-mass flywheel and a sensor assembly designed for the wireless transmission of measurement data from a rotating component of the dual-mass flywheel to a stationary component of the sensor assembly, wherein the sensor assembly is designed as a cascaded telemetric sensor unit for the wireless transmission of the measurement data.

[0017] A damping device for torsional vibrations is known from FR 2 820 480 A1.

[0018] There is therefore a need to show ways in which measured values, e.g. indicative of a temperature, can be provided.

[0019] The object of the invention is achieved by a dual-mass flywheel assembly for a drive train of a motor vehicle, comprising a dual-mass flywheel and a sensor assembly designed for the wireless transmission of measurement data from a rotating component of the dual-mass flywheel to a stationary component of the sensor assembly, wherein the sensor assembly is designed as a cascaded telemetric sensor unit for the wireless transmission of the measurement data, wherein the sensor assembly has a stationary stator assembly with a receiver, a rotatable master assembly with a transmitter and a receiver, and a rotatable slave assembly with a transmitter, wherein the transmitter and the receiver of the master assembly are assigned to the primary flywheel, the transmitter of the slave assembly is assigned to the secondary flywheel, wherein the sensor assembly is designed toto transmit the measurement data wirelessly from the transmitter of the slave module to the receiver of the master module, and to transmit the measurement data wirelessly from the transmitter of the master module (26) to the receiver of the stator module,

[0020] The sensor assembly comprises a stationary stator assembly with a receiver, a rotatable master assembly with a transmitter and a receiver, and a rotatable slave assembly with a transmitter. The transmitter and receiver of the master assembly are assigned to the primary flywheel, and the transmitter of the slave assembly is assigned to the secondary flywheel. The sensor assembly is configured to wirelessly transmit the measurement data from the transmitter of the slave assembly to the receiver of the master assembly, and to wirelessly transmit the measurement data from the transmitter of the master assembly to the receiver of the stator assembly. Thus, the measurement data is wirelessly transmitted twice: first from the secondary flywheel to the primary flywheel, and then a second time from the primary flywheel to the stationary stator assembly. This ensures particularly reliable transmission of the measured values while keeping the structure of the sensor assembly simple.

[0021] This allows authentic measurement data to be recorded and transmitted directly from the rotating component. There's no need to rely on data obtained using models, which are therefore prone to errors. In addition to measurement data indicative of temperatures, the measurement data can also be recorded as indicative of other variables, such as pressure values, angle values, force values, distance, acceleration, or speed.

[0022] Because the sensor assembly is designed as a cascaded telemetric sensor unit, it can transmit measurement data wirelessly. It can be used between components with different motion states, which is not possible with wired signal transmission. This allows the acquisition of measured values that are indicative of a temperature, such as the coupling contact temperature on the dual-mass flywheel, while simultaneously maintaining full, unadulterated functionality and offers a compact, protected, and final-assembly-safe arrangement inside the dual-mass flywheel assembly.

[0023] The measurement data is transmitted wirelessly twice: first from the secondary flywheel to the primary flywheel, and then a second time from the primary flywheel to the stationary stator assembly. This ensures particularly reliable transmission of the measured values while keeping the design of the sensor assembly simple.

[0024] According to one embodiment, the sensor module is designed to transmit the measurement data from the receiver of the master module to the transmitter of the master module via a wired connection. Thus, the measured values are transmitted via a wired connection within the master module. This ensures particularly reliable transmission of the measured values within the master module while simultaneously keeping the design of the master module simple.

[0025] According to one embodiment, the sensor assembly is designed to transmit the measurement data from the stator assembly to an evaluation unit via a wired connection. Thus, the measured values are transmitted via a wired connection. This ensures particularly reliable transmission of the measured values between the stator assembly and the evaluation unit.

[0026] According to one embodiment, the sensor module is configured to transmit the measurement data provided by a sensor to the slave module via a wired connection. Thus, the measured values are transmitted via a wired connection. This ensures particularly reliable transmission of the measured values between the sensor and the slave module.

[0027] The invention further includes a drive train with such a dual-mass flywheel assembly, a motor vehicle with such a drive train and a sensor assembly for such a dual-mass flywheel assembly.

[0028] The invention will now be explained with reference to a drawing. It shows: Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of a longitudinal section through a dual-mass flywheel assembly. Fig. 2 shows a schematic cross-section through the Fig. 1 shown dual mass flywheel assembly.

[0029] It is based on the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 is referred to.

[0030] The Fig. 1 a dual-mass flywheel assembly 6 with a dual-mass flywheel 8 and a sensor assembly 18.

[0031] The dual-mass flywheel 8 is part of a drive train 4 of a motor vehicle 2, such as a car.

[0032] The drive train 4 refers to all components in the motor vehicle 2 that generate power for the drive and transmit it to the road.

[0033] In the present exemplary embodiment, the drive train 4 is a conventional drive train with an internal combustion engine, such as a gasoline or diesel engine. In addition to the dual-mass flywheel 8, other components of the drive train 4 include, for example, a clutch (not shown) with a vehicle transmission (not shown), a differential (not shown), drive shafts (not shown) or stub axles (not shown), and wheels (not shown).

[0034] Of the components of the dual mass flywheel 8, Fig. 1 shows a primary flywheel 10, a secondary flywheel 14, a spring 14 and a pendulum mass 16.

[0035] In the present embodiment, the dual-mass flywheel 8 is arranged between the internal combustion engine and the vehicle transmission. Thus, the primary flywheel 10 is arranged on the engine side and the secondary flywheel 12 on the transmission side, while the spring 14 connects the primary flywheel 10 and the secondary flywheel 12 in a torsionally flexible manner.

[0036] The sensor assembly 18 is designed to wirelessly transmit measurement data from a rotating component of the dual-mass flywheel 8 to a stationary component of the sensor assembly 18. In the present embodiment, the measurement data is data indicative of a temperature. Deviating from the present embodiment, the measurement data can also be indicative of other variables, such as pressure values, angle values, force values, distance traveled, acceleration, or rotational speed.

[0037] In the present embodiment, the sensor assembly 18 is designed as a cascaded telemetric sensor unit for the wireless transmission of measurement data, signals, or information. This can be used between components with different motion states, which is not possible with wired signal transmission.

[0038] For this purpose, the sensor assembly 18 in the present embodiment comprises an evaluation unit 20, a stator assembly 22, a master assembly 26, and a slave assembly 32. While the evaluation unit 20 and the stator assembly 22 are arranged in a stationary manner, the master assembly 26 and the slave assembly 32 are each rotatably connected to the primary flywheel 10 and the secondary flywheel 12, respectively, i.e., they rotate with the primary flywheel 10 and the secondary flywheel 12, respectively.

[0039] In the present embodiment, the secondary flywheel 12 is the rotating component of the dual-mass flywheel 8, while the stationary component of the sensor assembly 18 is the stator assembly 22.

[0040] The slave module 32 is connected to a sensor 36, in the present embodiment, a temperature sensor, for transmitting measured values, e.g., via a signal line. The slave module 32 and the sensor 36 are arranged on the secondary flywheel 12. In other words, in the present embodiment, the sensor 36 detects the temperature of the secondary flywheel 12 and provides measurement data indicative of this temperature.

[0041] The slave module 32 is designed to read in these measurement data and to emit them wirelessly by means of a transmitter 34.

[0042] The measurement data emitted by the slave module 32 is received by the master module 26, which has a receiver 30 for this purpose. The measurement data is then transmitted to a transmitter 28 of the master module 26, e.g., via an additional signal line. The master module 26, together with the transmitter 28 and the receiver 30, are arranged on the primary flywheel 10.

[0043] The transmitter 28 then emits the measurement data received by the receiver 30.

[0044] The measurement data emitted by the transmitter 28 are then received by the stator assembly 22, which has a receiver 24 for this purpose.

[0045] The measurement data are then transmitted to the evaluation unit 20, e.g. by means of another signal line, where they are then further evaluated.

[0046] Thus, in the present embodiment, the sensor assembly 18 has two transmitters 28 and 34 and two receivers 24 and 30, with only one transmitter 34 being assigned to the secondary flywheel 12, one transmitter 28 and one receiver 30 being assigned to the primary flywheel 10, and one receiver 24 being assigned to the stator assembly 22.

[0047] The two transmitters 28 and 34 and the two receivers 30 and 24 can each be designed to be particularly energy-efficient or can also be designed as passive elements, such as passive RFID transponders without their own battery, which obtain their operating energy via induction and with an antenna.

[0048] During operation, the temperature of the secondary flywheel 12 is applied to the sensor 36.

[0049] The sensor 36 provides measurement data indicative of the temperature of the secondary flywheel 12 and provides it to the slave assembly 32 via wired communication.

[0050] The transmitter 34 of the slave module 32 wirelessly transmits the measurement data to the receiver 30 of the master module 26.

[0051] The measurement data are fed via wire to the transmitter 28 of the master assembly 26, which then transmits the measurement data wirelessly to the receiver 24 of the stator assembly 22.

[0052] The stator assembly 22 then transmits the measurement data via wire to the evaluation unit 20.

[0053] This allows unadulterated measurement data to be recorded and transmitted directly from a rotating component.
