Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present invention relates to a window glass equipped with a holder. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] A window glass mounted on a vehicle door to be slidably movable is moved up and down by a driving force of a lifting device (also called a "regulator") attached to a door panel.
[0003] For example, the regulator disclosed in Patent Document 1 mentioned below includes an electric motor and a slider for transmitting power from the electric motor to a window glass. On the other hand, the window glass disclosed in Patent Document 2 mentioned below has glass holders (holders) partially attached to a lower edge thereof, and the glass holders have a common support plate as a slider connected to their connecting portions via bolts.
[0004] Such retainers are attached to a projecting portion or portions of a window glass that project downward, as disclosed in Patent Documents 2 and 3. The projecting portion or portions and the retainers are housed in a door panel without being exposed to the outside even when the window glass is raised to its highest position.
[0005] DE 28 08 235 A1 describes a sliding window for a vehicle that features guide lugs on its vertical edges that slide within the door frame. The window is frameless, and in the closed position, the guides push the pane outward so that it sits flush with the top edge of the vehicle body. The lugs (17) are attached to the inner edge of the pane and have only a narrow outer frame above the outer edge of the pane. This design significantly reduces wind noise and eliminates the need for large, thick sealing strips. The window follows a tilting motion when raised into the closed position.
[0006] US 4,730,414 A describes a window regulator for a barless door comprising a hinged movement device that can assume both a contracted and an extended state. When the window pane is brought close to its upper, fully closed position, the hinged movement device changes its state from the contracted state to the expanded state, thereby displacing the lower part of the window pane outward, i.e., toward the outer wall of the door.
[0007] US 5 038 519 A describes a cable-type adjustment arrangement for controlling the movement of a window pane in a vehicle door assembly, which includes an automatic adjustment bracket for compensating for dimensional variations in the components connected to the window pane. The bracket is adjustably attached to a slider assembly which is slidably mounted in a track of an elongated rail fitted in the door. The body of the slider assembly is connected to the window pane adjustment bracket by a pair of rivets inserted into corresponding elongated holes in the bracket and by spider-type spring washers between the heads of the rivets and the adjustment bracket. The rivets and slots allow inward and outward movement, forward and backward movement, and limited pivoting movement of the window assembly during operation. The spider-like washers provide a spring device that springs the disc assembly into different positions as it moves to ensure that it moves smoothly and without vibration and noise, regardless of limit fluctuations in the doors, window glass, guide rails or other window control elements. PRIOR ART DOCUMENTS PATENT DOCUMENTS Patent Document 1: JP-A-2012-246671 Patent Document 2: JP-A-2017-8521 Patent Document 3: JP-A-2017-94880 DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION TECHNICAL PROBLEM
[0008] Among the holder-equipped window glasses, a type of holder-equipped window glass slidably movable along a streamlined body line includes a window glass formed in a curved shape along the body line and slidably moved along a circular arc path guided by circular arc vanes.
[0009] Such a holder-equipped window glass must perform a smooth and even sliding movement along the circular arc. However, in some cases, frictional resistance caused during the sliding movement has prevented conventional holder-equipped window glass from performing a smooth and even sliding movement.
[0010] The present invention is proposed in view of such circumstances. It is an object of the present invention to provide a holder-equipped window glass that is slidable along a circular arc path. SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM
[0011] To achieve the object of the present invention, the present invention provides a holder-equipped window glass mounted on a vehicle door and slidable along a circular arc path, including the window glass having a holder attached to a lower edge thereof, the window glass being formed into a curved shape having a first radius of curvature in cross section in a sliding direction in a state where the window glass is mounted on the vehicle; the holder including a connecting portion and at least one holder body, the connecting portion being configured to be connected to a lifting member of a lifting device mounted on the vehicle door, and the at least one holder body being configured to hold the window glass at the lower edge in cross section in the sliding direction;and wherein the connecting portion extends in a direction away from a lower edge of the holder body, and wherein the connecting portion at least partially comprises a circular arc-shaped portion having a second radius of curvature in cross-section in the sliding movement direction.; ADVANTAGEOUS EFFECTS OF THE INVENTION
[0012] The present invention enables a smooth sliding movement along a circular path. [0013] Now, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0014] In the description, the terms "top", "bottom", "inside", "outside", "front" and "rear", which indicate directions or positions, mean top, bottom, inside, outside, front and rear when a window glass equipped with a holder is mounted on a vehicle.
[0015] Fig. 1 is a right side view of a vehicle 100 to which the holder-equipped window glass 10 according to an embodiment of the present invention is mounted. Fig. 2 is a front view showing the structure of the Fig. 1 shown window glass equipped with a holder. In Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the vehicle 100 has a forward direction and a reverse direction, which are indicated by the arrows A and B, respectively. The vehicle 100 has a belt line defined by a two-point chain line C in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 is specified.
[0016] As an example, the Fig. 1 is attached to a front side window and mounted on the front side door 102 of the vehicle 100. The window glass 10 equipped with a holder is connected to a lifting device 50 which is attached to the door panel 104 of the front side door 102 (see Fig. 2) and is moved up and down by a driving force of the lifting device 50 to open and close the window opening 106 of the front side door 102. It should be noted that the holder-equipped window glass 10 according to the present invention is also applicable to a rear side window glass 108.
[0017] Now the approximate structure of the Fig. 2 shown lifting device 50 is described.
[0018] The lifting device 50 includes an electric motor 52 as a drive source, a guide rail 54, a slider 56 as a lifting member, a first wire 58, a second wire 60 and a drum 62. The front side door 102 (see Fig. 1) 1) includes a front wing 64 and a rear wing 66, which guide the lifting movement of the window glass 10 equipped with a holder in cooperation with the lifting device 50.
[0019] The guide rail 54 is arranged to have a longitudinal direction extending along a sliding direction of the holder-equipped window glass 10, which will be described later. The guide rail is formed in a circular arc shape in the longitudinal direction to extend along the sliding direction of the holder-equipped window glass 10 (see Fig. 4).
[0020] The slider 56 is a member to be connected to the holder-equipped window glass 10 and engaged with the guide rail 54 to be slidably movable along the longitudinal direction of the guide rail 54.
[0021] The first wire 58 has a first end connected to the drum 62 and a second end connected to the slider 56. The second wire 60 has a first end connected to the drum 62 and a second end connected to the slider 56.
[0022] The front wing 64 supports a front edge 12A of a window glass 12 constituting the holder-equipped window glass 10 to make the front edge slidable, and the rear wing 66 supports a rear edge 12B of the window glass 12 to make the rear edge slidable. Each of the front wing 64 and the rear wing 66 is arranged to have a longitudinal direction thereof extending along the sliding direction of the holder-equipped window glass 10, and is formed in a circular arc shape in the longitudinal direction to extend along the sliding direction of the holder-equipped window glass 10 (see Fig. 4).
[0023] In the thus configured lifting device 50, when the drum 62 is rotated in one direction by the electric motor 52, the first wire 58 is wound onto the drum 62, while the second wire 60 is led out of the drum 62. By this arrangement, the slider 56 is moved upward along the guide rail 54, so that the window glass 10 equipped with the holder is moved along a circular arc path D (see Fig. 3) is moved upwards following the longitudinal shape of the guide rail 54, guided by the front wing 64 and the rear wing 66.
[0024] In contrast, when the drum 62 is rotated in the opposite direction by the electric motor 52, the first wire 58 is led out of the drum 62, while the second wire 60 is wound onto the drum 62. Thus, the slider 56 is moved downward along the guide rail 54, so that the window glass 10 equipped with the holder is moved downward along the circular path D (see Fig. 3), namely guided by the front wing 64 and the rear wing 66.
[0025] Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the holder-equipped window glass 10 shown in Fig. 2, along the line 3-3 in Fig. 2. In other words, Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the holder-equipped window glass 10 when the vehicle 100 is viewed from its rear side to its front side, and in the sliding direction of the holder-equipped window glass 10. Note that the guide rail 54 is not shown to simply explain the structure of the holder-equipped window glass 10.
[0026] The explanation of the embodiments is given for a case where a single glass plate is exemplified as the window glass 12, which forms the holder-equipped window glass 10. The circular arc path D, which corresponds to the sliding direction of the holder-equipped window glass 10, is shown in Fig. 3 is indicated by a dot-dash line, and the center of the radius of curvature of the path D is located at an inner side. That is, the path D has a curved shape to be convex from the inner side to an outer side. The front wing 64 and the rear wing 66, which are shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 are indicated by two-point catenaries.
[0027] As in Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, the window glass 12 is formed in a front view in a substantially trapezoidal shape (see Fig. 2). The window glass 12 is in a curved shape with a first radius of curvature R1 in the cross section in the sliding direction (see Fig. 3) formed in a state in which the window glass is mounted on the vehicle (see Fig. 1).
[0028] When the window glass 12 is mounted on the vehicle 100, the window glass is formed in a curved shape to be convex toward the outside, as shown in Fig. 3. The window glass 12 may be formed in a single curved shape to be curved in only one direction, or in a compound curved shape to be curved in two orthogonal directions.
[0029] The window glass 12 includes the front edge 12A, the rear edge 12B, an upper edge 12C, and a lower edge 12D, all of which form a peripheral portion. The lower edge 12D is formed in a substantially linear shape so as to be parallel to the belt line C, so that no protruding portion is formed at the lower edge 12D. The window glass 12 is not limited to such a shape and may have a protruding portion. The term "parallel to" refers not only to a mode in which the lower edge is perfectly parallel to the belt line, but also to a mode in which the lower edge 12D is inclined, for example, at an angle within about 10 degrees to the belt line C.
[0030] The window glass 12 can be made of inorganic glass or organic glass. For example, soda-lime glass, aluminosilicate glass, borosilicate glass, alkali-free glass, and quartz glass can be used as inorganic glass without any particular restrictions. Among these, soda-lime glass is particularly preferred in terms of production cost and formability.
[0031] When the window glass 12 is made of inorganic glass, the window glass 12 can be made of either untempered glass or tempered glass. The tempered glass can be made of either air quenched glass or chemically tempered glass. Untempered glass is produced by forming molten glass into a sheet shape and annealing the formed glass. Tempered glass is produced by creating a compressive stress layer on the surface of untempered glass. The tempered glass can be either physically tempered glass (such as air quenched glass) or chemically tempered glass. When physically tempered glass is used, the physically tempered glass can have a glass surface that is tempered by quenching.Tempering a uniformly heated glass plate from a temperature near its softening point or using a treatment other than annealing to create a compressive stress layer on the glass surface due to the temperature difference between the glass surface and the interior of the glass plate. When chemically tempered glass is used, the chemically tempered glass may have a glass surface tempered by creating a compressive stress on the glass surface by an ion exchange method or the like after bending. Glass that absorbs ultraviolet rays or infrared rays is also applicable. Although the window glass is preferably transparent, the window glass may be a colored glass plate colored to such an extent that it does not impair transparency.
[0032] When the window glass 12 is made of organic glass, the organic glass may be made of a transparent resin such as a polycarbonate resin, an acrylic resin (for example, a polymethyl methacrylate resin), a polyvinyl chloride resin, or a polystyrene resin.
[0033] The window glass 12 may be made of laminated glass, which is produced by bonding at least two glass sheets together via an interlayer. The interlayer of the laminated glass may be, for example, a known film made of PVB (polyvinyl butyral) or EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin). The interlayer of the laminated glass may be a transparent interlayer or a colored interlayer. The interlayer may have at least two layers.
[0034] Although there is no particular limitation on the thickness of the window glass 12, the thickness is preferably at least 0.5 mm and at most 5.0 mm. When the window glass 12 is made of laminated glass, a glass plate positioned on the outer side when the window glass 12 is mounted on the vehicle is preferably at least 1.8 mm and at most 3 mm. The glass plate on the outer side has a thickness of at least 1.8 mm, the laminated glass has sufficient strength, for example, resistance to flying stones. If the glass plate on the outer side has a thickness of at most 3 mm, the laminated glass is prevented from being heavy, which is preferable in view of the mileage of the vehicle. The thickness of the glass plate on the outer side is preferably at least 1.8 mm and at most 2.8 mm, more preferably at least 1.8 mm and at most 2.6 mm.On the other hand, the glass plate positioned on the inside when the window glass 12 is mounted on the vehicle preferably has a thickness of at least 0.3 mm and at most 2.3 mm. When the glass plate on the inside has a thickness of at least 0.3 mm, the laminated glass exhibits excellent handling performance. When the glass plate on the inside has a thickness of at most 2.3 mm, the laminated glass is prevented from being heavy.
[0035] As mentioned above, the window glass 12 is formed in a curved shape. The window glass 12 can be bent, for example, by gravity bending, press bending, or roll bending. Although there is no particular limitation on how the window glass 12 is bent, it is preferable to use a glass plate formed by a float process or the like when the window glass is made of, for example, inorganic glass.
[0036] As in Fig. 2 and Fig. As shown in Figure 3, the lower edge 12D of the window glass 12 has a pair of retainers 14 and 14 partially disposed thereon to be spaced apart from each other in a direction along the lower edge 12D. The retainers 14 may be made of, for example, a metal or a resin. When the retainers are made of a resin, examples of the resin include an engineering plastic resin such as POM (polyacetal) or PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), a resin having glass fibers blended in such an engineering plastic resin, and a thermoplastic elastomer resin (such as PP (polypropylene) or PVC (polyvinyl chloride)) having a lower hardness than POM.
[0037] Each of the holders 14 includes a holder body 16 and a connecting portion 18.
[0038] The holder body 16 is U-shaped in cross section in the sliding direction of the window glass 10 equipped with the holder, as shown in Fig. 3 to hold the window glass 12 at the bottom edge 12D. Specifically, the holder body 16 includes a pair of opposite side walls 20 and 22 and a bottom wall 24 connecting lower portions of the pair of side walls 20 and 22 and having a bottom surface 26 opposite the end surface of the bottom edge 12D of the window glass 12. Note that the end surface of the bottom edge 12D may be brought into contact with the bottom surface 26 or opposite the bottom surface 26 with a gap.
[0039] The connecting portions 18 are formed in a plate shape and extend from a lower surface 28 of the lower edge opposite the bottom surface 26 of the bottom wall 24 to the opposite side of the pair of side walls 20 and 22. Thus, the connecting portions 18 extend in a direction away from the lower edge 12D when the holder bodies 16 are attached to the lower edge 12D of the window glass 12. Each of the connecting portions 18 has a connecting hole 30 formed therein, so that each Fig. 2 is inserted into and engaged with the corresponding connecting hole (not shown) of the slider 56 to connect the holders 14 and 14 to the slider 56.
[0040] Each of the connecting portions 18 includes a circular arc portion 18A having a second curvature radius R2 in cross section in the sliding direction of the holder-equipped window glass 10. The circular arc portion 18A is formed at a position extending from the lower surface 28 of the bottom wall 24 to the center 30A of the connecting hole 30 by a length L3, as an example. Note that L3 is not the shortest length from the lower surface 28 to the center 30A, but a circular arc length along the circular arc portion 18A.
[0041] Now, the relationship between the first radius of curvature R1 of the window glass 12, the second radius of curvature R2 of the circular arc portion 18A, and a third radius of curvature R3 as the radius of curvature of the path D shown by the holder-equipped window glass 10 in the sliding movement direction will be explained.
[0042] The centers of the first curvature radius R1, the second curvature radius R2, and the third curvature radius R3 are located on the inner side. For example, the first curvature radius R1 is preferably at least 1,000 mm and at most 100,000 mm. The second curvature radius R2 is also preferably at least 1,000 mm and at most 100,000 mm. From the viewpoint of providing the retainer-equipped window glass 10 with a smooth sliding movement, although it is preferable that the first curvature radius R1 and the second curvature radius R2 have the same value to achieve the smooth sliding movement of the retainer-equipped window glass 10, the present invention is not limited to this mode. When each of the connecting portions 18 partially includes the circular arc-shaped portion 18A having the second curvature radius R2, the smooth sliding movement can be achieved.Explanations on this topic will be given later.
[0043] The first curvature radius R1 and the second curvature radius R2 may have the same value, the first curvature radius R1 and the third curvature radius R3 may have the same value, and the second curvature radius R2 and the third curvature radius R3 may have the same value. The first curvature radius R1, the second curvature radius R2, and the third curvature radius R3 preferably have the same value. In this mode, the sliding motion is further smoothed.
[0044] Next, how the holder-equipped window glass 10 configured according to the embodiment functions will be described.
[0045] Fig. 4 is a view showing how the holder-equipped window glass 10 performs a sliding movement.
[0046] As in Fig. 4, each of the holders 14 is connected to the slider 56 via the corresponding circular arc-shaped section 18A with the second radius of curvature R2 (see Fig. 3). The slider 56 is engaged with the circular guide rail 54, which extends along the path D with the third radius of curvature R3 (see Fig. 3). By this arrangement, when the window glass 12 with the first radius of curvature R1 (see Fig. 3) is moved slidably along the path D, the slider 56 performs the sliding movement with a certain frictional resistance which is constantly exerted on the guide rail 54.
[0047] Now, a comparative example will be explained with reference to the holder-equipped window glass 70 shown in Fig. 5 is shown.
[0048] The window glass 70 equipped with holder, which is in Fig. 5, includes holders 72, each of which has a connecting portion 74 formed in a flat plate shape. In other words, each extends in Fig. 5 linearly from one of the side walls 78 of the corresponding holder body 76 and does not have a circular arc-shaped section 18A with the second radius of curvature R2, as in Fig. 3 shown.
[0049] In the case of the window glass 70 equipped with a holder, which is Fig. 5, when each connecting portion 74 is bonded or connected to the slider 56, the slider 56 changes from its inherent sliding motion posture (see Fig. 4) to a position that is away towards the outside, which is determined or predetermined by the shape of the connecting section 74. Thus, a frictional resistance between the guide rail 54 and the slider 56 increases compared to the Fig. 4, in order to prevent the window glass 70 equipped with a holder, which is shown in Fig. 5, performs a uniform sliding movement along the path D.
[0050] In contrast, the window glass 10 equipped with a holder is according to the Fig. 4, the connecting portion 18 of each of the holders 14 includes the circular arc portion 18A having the second radius of curvature R2, and each of the holders 14 is connected to the slider 56 via the corresponding circular arc portion 18A. Thus, the holder-equipped window glass can perform a smooth sliding movement along the circular arc path D.
[0051] Although each of the holders 14 according to this embodiment is configured such that a portion having a length L3 as part of the connecting portion 18 is formed as a circular arc portion 18A, the entire connecting portion 18 may be formed as a circular arc portion. The side walls 20 and 20 of each holder body 16 may include a circular arc portion having the second radius of curvature R2.
[0052] In view of reducing the weight of the window glass 12, it is preferable that each of the holders 14 according to this embodiment is configured as follows:
[0053] Each of the holders 14 is configured so that when, as in Fig. 3, the length to the bottom surface 26 from the upper surfaces 20A and 22A of the pair of side walls 20 and 22 of the holder body 16 is defined as L1 and the length to the center 30A of the connecting hole 30 from the bottom surface 26 of the holder is defined as L2, the formula L1×2≦L2 is satisfied.
[0054] The protruding part of the window glass disclosed in Patent Document 2 and the protruding parts of the window glass disclosed in Patent Document 3 have a downward protrusion amount of substantially at least twice the length L1. From this point of view, when the length L2 is set to a length not shorter than L1×2, the connecting portions 18 of the holders 14 can replace the protruding portion and the protruding portions. In the embodiment, the protruding portion and the protruding portions can be removed, or the protrusion amount of the protruding portion and the protruding portions can be reduced so that the lower edge 12D of the window glass 12 is made parallel to the belt line C, as shown in FIG. Fig. 2, or the lower edge 12D is brought closer to the belt line C. Thus, the window glass 12 according to this embodiment can achieve weight reduction compared to conventional window glasses having a projecting portion or projecting portions.
[0055] The pair of side walls 20 and 22 of the Fig. 3 has the same height. If the pair of side walls are configured to have different heights, L1 can be set to a distance to the bottom surface 26 from the upper surface of a lower side wall.
[0056] Although the present invention has been described in detail, the present invention is not limited to the above-mentioned embodiment. Various modifications and changes can be made to the embodiment without departing from the scope of the present invention.
[0057] Although the holders 14 according to the embodiment are arranged in pairs to be spaced apart from each other at the lower edge 12D of the window glass 12, as shown in Fig. 2, the holder-equipped window glass may be configured to include a single holder body 82 having a pair of connecting portions 84 and 84 as in a holder 80 as a modification shown, for example, in Fig. 6. In other words, the Fig. 6 may be fixed or arranged at a single position on the lower edge 12D of the window glass 12. In this modified holder 80, the pair of connecting portions 84 and 84 are arranged at a lower edge 82A of the holder body 82 so as to be spaced apart in a direction along the lower edge 12D of the window glass 12.
[0058] In another alternative, the holder body 16 may be configured to include a side wall 20 and a bottom wall 24 connected to a lower portion of the side wall 20 and having a bottom surface 26 opposite the end surface of the lower edge 12D of the window glass 12, as shown in Fig. 7A. Alternatively, the holder body 16 may be configured to include a side wall 22 and a bottom wall 24 connected to a lower portion of the side wall 22 and having a bottom surface 26 opposite the end surface of the lower edge 12D of the window glass 12, as shown in Fig. 7B. In other words, the holder body 16 may include the side wall 20 or the side wall 22, which is opposite to at least one of the main surfaces of the window glass 12, and the bottom wall 24 with the bottom surface 26 opposite to the end surface of the lower edge 12D of the window glass 12. The at least one of the main surfaces of the window glass 12 is connected to the side wall 20 or the side wall 22 by an adhesive 86. The use of the adhesive 86 is also applicable to the holder-equipped window glass 10 shown in Fig. 3 is shown.
[0059] The entire disclosure of Japanese Patent Application No. 2020-050642, filed on March 23, 2020, including specification, claims, drawings, and abstract, is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety.
