Description

[0001] The invention relates to an implant syringe used to deliver a strand-like solid implant containing a long-acting active ingredient into a patient's body. Typically, the long-acting preparation is placed into the patient's abdominal wall, into which a cannula has previously been inserted to receive the solid implant.

[0002] The invention is based on an implant syringe comprising the following features: a cannula, a depot element for receiving a solid implant, an outer sleeve with a radially projecting front grip section, with which the cannula is axially movable together with the depot element and the outer sleeve, furthermore an inner sleeve on which the outer sleeve sits and in which the cannula is displaceable with the depot element, wherein the inner sleeve has axial slots which pass through radial webs of the outer sleeve, wherein the implant syringe further comprises a rod-shaped piston which is attached to a rear grip section and is partially surrounded by a rear sleeve which can displaceably engage the inner sleeve, wherein the rod-shaped piston can be pushed through the depot element into the cannula until a distance remains between the tip of the cannula and the head end of the piston, which is approximately equal to the length of the solid implant to be delivered, wherein the outer sleeve is releasably locked in the advanced starting position with the cannula exposed by a blocking device of the inner sleeve, and the blocking device is moved into the release position when the rear sleeve is advanced into its final position, whereby the outer sleeve can be retracted by means of the front grip section on the inner sleeve until the cannula fully enters the inner sleeve.

[0003] Such an implant syringe is disclosed in DE 10 2017 007 893 A1. In this implant syringe, the outer sleeve is integrally connected to a needle holder by radial webs, into the rear of which the depot element, which accommodates the solid implant, is inserted. After the inner sleeve and outer sleeve are assembled, the cannula is glued into a front opening of the needle holder. The solid implant is inserted into the depot element through the open rear of the inner sleeve and advanced into the slightly clamped starting position by the rod-shaped piston in the depot element. When using the implant syringe to deliver the solid implant to a patient, the rear handle section with the plunger is then advanced until the solid implant is advanced to the tip of the cannula, whereupon the outer sleeve released in this position is withdrawn with the cannula and the depot element, leaving the solid implant in the patient's body.

[0004] DE 10 2020 122 654 A1 discloses an implant syringe in which the cannula is firmly connected to the depot element to form a separate cannula unit, i.e., one separate from the rest of the implant syringe. This significantly simplifies the insertion of a solid implant into the depot element. The invention further provides that the webs of the outer sleeve are attached at their radially inner ends to an annular receiving part located within the inner sleeve, and that the cannula unit, with the solid implant inserted into the depot element, can be inserted into the receiving part and locked therein.

[0005] In these well-known implant syringes, the inner sleeve is composed of two components: the front needle shield and the rear spacer, which are locked together. Two locking hooks are molded onto the long bars of the needle shield, which snap into the locking slots of the spacer.

[0006] When tensile forces act on this locking connection, the locking hooks are stretched, whereby, due to the component, very little space is available for the locking hooks. With a design-related cross-section of preferably only approximately 1.5 mm 2 The locking hooks can only withstand a tensile force of approximately 10 N. However, a higher holding force of the snap connection is desirable, thus making the implant syringe more stable. Since the component design does not allow for more space for locking hooks with a larger cross-section, a solution to the problem by using locking hooks with a larger cross-section is not feasible without compromising the handling and visual appearance of the implant syringe.

[0007] The present invention is therefore based on the object of providing an improved locking connection in which the holding force is considerably increased.

[0008] This object is achieved according to the invention by the features of patent claim 1.

[0009] Advantageous embodiments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims.

[0010] The invention provides that a locking window is formed in each of two diametrically opposed tabs of the needle guard, and that the spacer has two locking hooks at corresponding positions. When the two components are snapped together, the tabs slide over the locking hooks of the spacer until the locking hooks engage in the locking windows of the tabs. The end sections of the two tabs of the needle guard are held flush in recesses in the spacer. This creates a stable, permanent snap connection on both sides. When an attempt is made to separate the two components by pulling them apart, the applied force is no longer absorbed by stretching the plastic, but rather by pressure on the plastic. This significantly increases the holding force of the connection without enlarging the outer circumference of the inner sleeve or significantly changing its visual appearance.

[0011] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the two tabs of the needle holder, which have the locking windows, have a different length, so that with a corresponding design of the two locking hook areas, only a single mounting position of the two components is possible.

[0012] The locking hooks preferably have a solid wedge shape with a top side that slopes upwards in the direction of installation and, preferably, a rear side that is undercut at a shallow angle, making the snap connection virtually undetachable. The end sections of the tabs should engage flush with the recesses in the spacer.

[0013] Further details can be found in the following description of a preferred embodiment of the implant syringe and in the drawings. These show: Fig. 1a and Fig. 1b various representations of an embodiment of the implant syringe; Fig. 2a and Fig. 2b different representations of the rear sleeve with the rod-shaped piston; Fig. 3 a view of the inner sleeve composed of needle protection part and spacer part; Fig. 4 a conventional needle protection part of the inner sleeve; Fig. 5 a spacer part of the inner sleeve; Fig. 6 an embodiment of the inner sleeve according to the invention; Fig. 7a and Fig. 7b the needle guard and the spacer in the separated state; Fig. 8 a sectional view of the locked state of the inner sleeve.

[0014] The Fig. 1a and Fig. 1b show an initial state of the implant syringe, in which the syringe needle 1 is covered by a removable protective cap 2. The removable protective cap 2 is easily detachably locked to an outer sleeve 3. The outer sleeve 3 has an elongated cylindrical shape, with a radially projecting front handle section 4 formed on its right-hand end section in the figures. The outer sleeve 3 is firmly connected via several radially inwardly extending webs 5 to a needle holder 6, in which the syringe needle 1 is fastened. Axially behind the needle holder 6, a preparation receiving part 7 is arranged such that its channel 8 is aligned with the channel of the syringe needle 1. In this preparation receiving part 8 there is a preparation (not shown), which is deposited, for example, in the abdominal wall of a patient when the implant syringe is used.

[0015] The outer sleeve 3 sits (when not blocked) slidably on an inner sleeve 9, which is composed of a front needle guard 10 and a rear spacer 11. The needle guard 10 contains a front, frustoconically tapered section 12, which is closed in the circumferential direction and covers the tip of the fully retracted syringe needle 1. The axially adjoining region contains circumferentially spaced webs or tabs 13, wherein in the prior art, hooks 15 are formed on the end sections of two webs, which engage in recesses 16 of the spacer 11 of the inner sleeve 9 in order to connect the two parts ( Fig. 4 and Fig. 5).

[0016] The rear part 11 of the inner sleeve 9 contains a spring arm 17, which is cut out of the wall of the inner sleeve part 11 and protrudes radially outward with a locking hook. This spring arm 17 with the locking hook serves as a blocking device for the outer sleeve 3 as long as a rear sleeve 18 is not pushed into its final position into the rear part 11 of the inner sleeve 9.

[0017] A flat grip 19 is formed on the rear end of the rear sleeve 18, to which a rod-shaped piston 20 is attached centrally in the sleeve 18. The rear sleeve 18 contains an axially extending slot which, when the rear sleeve 18 is inserted into the rear spacer 11 of the inner sleeve 9, interacts with the spring arm 17 via an inclined surface so that its locking hook is pulled radially inward. This occurs when the inner side of the rear grip 19 abuts the rear edge 22 of the inner sleeve 9, locking it in this position in an easily releasable manner.

[0018] The outer sleeve 3 can now be retracted together with the syringe needle 1 to its final position, in which the two grips 4 and 19 rest against each other. The tip of the syringe needle 1 is now located within the truncated cone-shaped section 12 of the inner sleeve 9.

[0019] The Fig.6 to 8 show an embodiment of the locking mechanism of the inner sleeve 23 according to the invention, which is composed of the front needle guard 24 and the rear spacer 25. The needle guard 24 contains two elongated tabs 26, in the end regions of which two locking windows 27 are formed. Two locking hooks 28 are formed on the spacer 25 at corresponding positions, which snap into the locking windows 27 when the needle guard 24 is plugged together with the spacer 25. The end regions of the tabs 26 that overlap with the spacer 25 engage flush with recesses 29 in the spacers 25.

[0020] The locking hooks 28 have a solid, roughly wedge-shaped design. The upper side 29 of the locking hooks slopes upwards in the direction of assembly, while the rear side 30 of the locking hooks 28 is undercut at a shallow angle. This makes the snap connection stable and virtually indetachable.

[0021] The two tabs 26 with the locking windows 27 have a different length, whereby the two corresponding areas of the locking windows are positioned accordingly so that only one mounting position is possible. QUOTES CONTAINED IN THE DESCRIPTION
