An
irrigation sleeve (78) for use with a surgical
system (40) comprises an
irrigation source (68), a rotary instrument (50) having a tube (60) extending to a distal tube end (62), and a
cutting accessory (52) having a head (64) and a shank (66) extending from the head (64) and adapted to be rotatably supported by the tube (60) of the rotary instrument (50). The
irrigation sleeve (78) comprises a sleeve body (86) extending between a proximal sleeve end (86P) and a distal sleeve end (86S), a first lumen (88) formed in said sleeve body (86) for receiving at least a portion of the tube (60) of the rotary instrument (50) with the head (64) of the
cutting accessory (52) arranged adjacent to said distal sleeve end (86S), and a second lumen (90) formed in said sleeve body (86), spaced from said first lumen (88), and comprising a proximal lumen region (92) and a distal lumen region (94). Said proximal lumen region (92) extends from a lumen inlet (96) adapted for fluid communication with the irrigation source (68) to a lumen transition (98), and said distal lumen region (94) extends from said lumen transition (98) to a lumen outlet (100) arranged to direct fluid adjacent to the head (64) of the
cutting accessory (52). Said proximal lumen region (92) has a generally crescent-shaped profile and said distal lumen region (94) has a profile different from said crescent-shaped profile of said proximal lumen region (92).
