Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present invention relates to a wheel bearing configured such that a plurality of inner rings are connected by a clamp ring, and more particularly to a wheel bearing configured such that a function of fixing a plurality of inner rings and performing sealing can be performed by integrally forming a sealing part with a clamp ring configured to connect the plurality of inner rings. BACKGROUND
[0002] A bearing is a part that supports a rotating element relative to a non-rotating element in a rotating device. A wheel bearing is used to support a vehicle wheel, allowing the wheel to be rotatably mounted on a vehicle body.
[0003] Such a wheel bearing is typically configured such that a rotating member to which the wheel is mounted is coupled to a non-rotating member fixed to the vehicle body by rolling elements to rotatably support the wheel mounted on the rotating member with respect to the vehicle body.
[0004] Balls, tapered rollers, or similar materials are used as rolling elements in wheel bearings. Balls are primarily used as rolling elements in wheel bearings for small cars. Tapered rollers are primarily used as rolling elements in wheel bearings for medium-sized commercial vehicles, such as buses or trucks.
[0005] With reference to Fig. 1 is an example of a wheel bearing that can be used for medium-sized commercial vehicles.
[0006] As in Fig. As illustrated in Figure 1, a prior art medium-sized commercial vehicle 10 is configured such that an outer ring 20 is relatively supported with respect to inner rings 30 having multiple rows of rolling elements 40. One or both end portions of the wheel bearing are provided with a sealing member 50 to prevent external foreign matter from entering a bearing space in which the rolling elements 40 are located or to prevent lubricant filled in the bearing space from leaking to the outside.
[0007] On the other hand, as illustrated in the drawing, the wheel bearing 10 including the plurality of inner rings 30 is configured such that a clamp ring 60 is fixed between the plurality of inner rings 30 to couple the plurality of inner rings 30 to each other.
[0008] The wheel bearing 10 with such a structure in the prior art is configured such that the clamp ring 60 is fixed to the inner peripheral surfaces of the inner rings 30. Fixing the clamp ring 60 in this manner can be a troublesome task. In addition, to prevent oil in a vehicle shaft and a bearing lubricant from mixing with each other, a sealing member (not illustrated) (center seal) must be additionally provided at a location where the plurality of inner rings 30 are coupled to each other. This causes an increase in complexity.
[0009] A wheel bearing as described above is also known, for example, from DE 10 2018 208 195 A1. This also shows a wheel bearing with a plurality of outer rings configured to support a plurality of rows of rolling elements in a radially outward direction, a plurality of inner rings configured to support the plurality of rows of rolling elements in a radially inward direction, a plurality of rows of rolling elements arranged between the one or more outer rings and the plurality of inner rings to support relative rotation between the one or more outer rings and the plurality of inner rings, and a clamp ring coupled between the plurality of inner rings to couple the plurality of inner rings to one another. The clamp ring has a frame and a sealing portion attached to the frame.Such wheel bearings are also described in DE 195 26 167 A1 and DE 10 2015 218 865 A1.
[0010] Further bearings with inner rings coupled to each other by a Lammer ring, which is realized without a sealing section attached to a frame, are described in US 5 641 239 A and in DE 10 2017 111 043 A1. SUMMARY
[0011] The present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems, and the present invention has the purpose of providing a wheel bearing configured such that a sealing portion is formed integrally with a clamp ring coupling a plurality of inner rings to perform both a function of fixing the plurality of inner rings and a sealing function by the clamp ring.
