Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a dentifrice composition, a dentifrice and a tube containing the composition. The invention further relates to the use of the composition and the use of chlorophyll for coloring a dentifrice. In the field of cosmetics and dental care, customer desires and regulatory requirements increasingly require sustainable products which contain naturally occurring ingredients. One goal is to avoid microplasty. At the same time, there remains a need for dentifrice compositions which permit effective cleaning and care of the teeth and gums.It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved composition which can effectively clean and maintain teeth and gums. The composition should contain ingredients which are as lasting as possible and naturally occurring, should be as usual as possible and should be taken up by humans psychologically and physiologically positive.According to the invention, this object is achieved by a composition according to claim 1.The invention is based on the idea of specifying a dental care composition which comprises at least one saffron extract, water, a polyol and lecithin. The term "dentifrice" includes both the care and cleaning of the gums and teeth.Using sustainable ingredients which are as naturally occurring as possible, a microbiologically and thermodynamically stable composition is formed which can effectively treat and clean teeth and gums. The composition according to the invention is assumed to be particularly positive physiologically and psychologically and is particularly well tolerated. The composition also does not need to be spit out or rinsed out, so that the ingredients can act longer. The composition according to the invention can apply hydrophilic and lipophilic active ingredients to the site of action and absorb hydrophilic and lipophilic impurities and remove them from teeth and gums. The saffron extract can inhibit harmful germs and thus serves for the care of gums and teeth. The saffron extract is an extract from saffron (crocus sativus), preferably a saffron flower extract. The extract can be obtained, for example, by macerating dried flowers of the plant Crocus sativus. Preferably, the punches have been removed in advance. A mixture of 30% 1,3-propanediol and 70% water can be used as the extractant.Water and polyol provide the base for a polar phase and serve as a carrier for hydrophilic active ingredients and can remove removed impurities in the intended application. The composition according to the invention may also contain one or more lipids which form a non-polar phase. The lipids may be active agents or carriers for lipophilic active agents and may remove ablated lipophilic contaminants in the intended application. The emulsifier lecithin can be arranged between polar and nonpolar phases. The composition according to the invention can simultaneously deliver lipophilic active ingredients and hydrophilic active ingredients to the site of action. Thus, in addition to the physically occurring cleaning, the composition according to the invention can, for example, display its advantageous effect at the site of action and treat gums and teeth, for example saffron extract and ubiquinone-10 or ubiquinol. The polyol contributes to preservation and no further preservatives are required. As a result, synthetic or allergy-inducing preservatives can be dispensed with. The polyol also advantageously affects taste and mouth feel.Lecithin is a preparation containing phosphatidylcholines as the main constituent. Phosphatidylcholines are 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, phospholipids in which phosphoric acid is esterified with diacylglycerol and choline. Lecithin is an additive approved for foods in general (except certain foods) under the E 322 Additive Approval Regulation (ZZulV 1998).Emulsifiers other than lecithin are not required in the composition of the invention. This can be used in small amounts with respect to substances to be emulsified. For example, the mass of lecithin may be as low as 5% of the mass of lipid to be emulsified. A further advantage is that lecithins are of natural origin. Thus, no synthetic surfactants are required. The composition according to the invention preferably contains from 0.1 g to 4 g lecithin per 100 g of the composition. The lecithin has a phosphatidylcholine content of from 30% by weight to 100% by weight. In other words, the composition preferably contains 0.03 g to 4 g phosphatidylcholine per 100 g of the composition. Preferred lecithins are deoiled lecithin fractions. This means that the lecithin is preferably substantially free of non-polar lipids such as fatty acids and triglycerides. The content of nonpolar lipids such as fatty acids and triglycerides is preferably less than 3% by weight. The lecithin contains a proportion of polar lipids (acetone-insoluble substance) of 90 wt.% to 100 wt.%. The lecithin may be from a source selected from soy, sunflower, oilseed rape, fish, milk, eggs and mixtures thereof, with non-animal sources such as soy, sunflower and rapeseed being particularly preferred. In addition to the major ingredient phosphatidylcholine, lecithin may contain phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylserine, sterols, fats and oils, depending on the origin. For example, soybean lecithin may contain 40-50 wt% phosphatidylcholine, about 10 wt% phosphatidylethanolamine, about 5 wt% phosphatidylinositol, about 1-2 wt% phosphatidylserine, and further sterols, fats and oils. Lecithin obtained from egg yolks, on the other hand, consists essentially of phosphatidylcholine.Embodiments within this specification may be combined with each other as desired unless the subject matter and description of the embodiments clearly suggest otherwise. The verbs "contain" and "comprise" and their conjugations also include the verb "consist of" with its conjugations.Preferred embodiments of the invention are also given in the dependent claims.Preferably, the composition is a dentifrice. In this dosage form, the composition can display its cleansing action in an ideal manner.Preferably, the composition contains a gelling agent. In one embodiment, xanthan is preferred as the gelling agent. In this embodiment, the composition contains from 0.5% to 2% xanthan by weight based on the total weight of the composition. The gelling agent promotes the formation of a dentifrice. Furthermore, the gelling agent increases the thermodynamic stability of the composition. In a preferred embodiment, the composition has a viscosity at 20° C. between 3000 mPa·s and 100000 mPa·s. The viscosity referred to herein is the dynamic viscosity measured according to the method of European Pharmacopoeia 7.0, 2011 using a cone-plate type rotational viscometer. This viscosity can be adjusted by the composition of the composition according to the invention, wherein in particular polyol, optional lipid and optional gelling agent can determine the viscosity. Gelling agent and a high amount of lipid result in a higher viscosity. A higher viscosity lengthens the residence time of the composition at the site of action. In a preferred embodiment, the composition comprises a compound selected from ubiquinone-10 and ubiquinol, in particular ubiquinone-10. Ubiquinone-10 can also be formed in the composition when ubiquinol is added to the composition. Particularly preferably, the composition contains 0.1% by weight to 1% by weight of ubiquinone-10, based on the total weight of the composition. The inventors have found that ubiquinone-10 and ubiquinol can contribute to healthy gums and inhibit inflammation of the gums. In particular, the combination of saffron extract and ubiquinone-10 is particularly effective. The disadvantage is that these compounds lead to yellowing of the dentifrice, which is perceived as unresponsive, which can lead to inadequate compliance and poor dentifriceing. In a preferred embodiment, the composition contains chlorophyll. The inventors have found that the natural product and renewable raw material chlorophyll results in a dentifrice of appealing color. This means that dyes or pigments, which often have a poor color and / or disadvantageous properties, can be dispensed with. This improves compliance and oral health. It is furthermore advantageous that chlorophyll is capable of masking a yellowing of the dentifrice by ubiquinone-10 and ubiquinol. Accordingly, the present invention also provides the use of chlorophyll for coloring a dentifrice. In a preferred embodiment, the composition contains copper. The inventors have found that chlorophyll is unstable in a dentifrice. The inventors have further found that copper can stabilize chlorophyll in a dentifrice. Accordingly, in a preferred embodiment, the composition comprises a copper-chlorophyll complex, preferably a copper(II)-chlorophyll complex, particularly preferably chlorophyllin. Particularly preferably, the composition contains from 0.05% to 0.6% by weight of the copper-chlorophyll complex, based on the total weight of the composition. In a preferred embodiment, the composition comprises a compound selected from cellulose and cellulose derivatives, preferably cellulose, particularly preferably cellulose plaster bodies. Particularly preferably, the composition contains, based on the total weight of the composition, 5% by weight to 25% by weight of cellulose, preferably cellulose plaster bodies. The inventors have found that this natural product and renewable raw material is a suitable cleaning body for tooth cleaning and has a cleaning performance comparable to polyethylene or silica. In particular, cellulose can remove plaque well, but has little abrasion to protect enamel and dentine. Cellulose is biodegradable. In a preferred embodiment, the composition contains a carrier form selected from liposomes and nanosomes. With the aid of the liposomes and nanosomes, the saffran extract and ubiquinone-10 or ubiquinol can be transported particularly well to the site of action.Liposomes can be formed in particular if the composition contains more lecithin / phosphatidylcholine than is necessary for the emulsion of lipids present. The emulsifier molecules (lecithin) not required for stabilizing the lipids (e.g. in the form of fat droplets) can then form liposomal structures in the polar phase. These liposomal structures can serve as a specific carrier system for water soluble, hydrophilics or contaminants. If the composition according to the invention contains at least one lipid, there are two carrier systems, namely fat droplets for lipophilic active ingredients and impurities and liposomes for hydrophilic active ingredients and impurities.Liposome formation can be assisted by the use of high pressure homogenizers in the preparation of the composition.Nanosomes can be formed by the interaction of water, polyol, lecithin and lipophilic compounds and transport, in particular, lipophilic active ingredients. In a preferred embodiment, the composition contains from 0.1% to 5% by weight saffron extract based on the total weight of the composition. In a preferred embodiment, the composition contains, based on the total weight of the composition, 15% by weight to 40% by weight of water, 30% by weight to 65% by weight of polyol, 0.1% by weight to 4% by weight of lecithin, 0.2% by weight to 5% by weight of lipid and 0.1% by weight to 5% by weight of saffron extract. In this composition, the composition of the invention is a stable and particularly effective active ingredient carrier system for improving the mouth feel, the condition of the teeth, the condition of the gums and for removing plaque.Preferably, the polyol is selected from sorbitol, glycerol, xylitol, pentyleneglycol, erythritol, fructose and mixtures thereof. More preferably, the polyol comprises sorbitol. The composition according to the invention particularly preferably comprises from 30% by weight to 60% by weight of sorbitol.Sorbitol is particularly well suited for stabilizing the composition and improving the mouth feel and is not cariogenic. In a preferred embodiment, the composition contains from 20% to 40% by weight of water, based on the total weight of the composition. In a preferred embodiment, the composition contains from 0.1% to 5% by weight of triacylglycerols, preferably medium chain triglyceride, based on the total weight of the composition. Triacylglycerols can serve as carriers for lipophilic substances and impurities. In a preferred embodiment, the composition contains pentylene glycol. In a preferred embodiment, the composition comprises a compound selected from an amino acid and an amide of an amino acid and a fatty acid. Cocoyl glutamate, the amide of gutamate and lauric acid, is preferred.Preferably, the composition does not contain polyethylene.Polyethylene is used in dentifrices in the prior art as a cleaning body. However, polyethylene is not a natural product and is not a lasting raw material.Preferably, the composition does not contain a silicate.Silicate is used in dentifrices in the prior art as a cleaning body.Preferably, the composition does not contain a synthetic surfactant. The term "none" is to be understood as meaning that the concentration of the compound is so low that no appreciable effect is to be expected. In other words, the concentration is outside the order of magnitude in which the compound is normally used. Synthetic surfactants in the context of the invention are ethoxylated surfactants, macrogol and derivatives thereof (e.g. macrogol glycerol fatty acid esters such as e.g. Macrogolglycerolricinoleat macrogol fatty acid esters such as e.g. macrogol oleate, macrogol fatty alcohol ethers such as e.g. polyoxyethylene cetyl ether), propylene glycol and derivatives thereof, polyoxypropylene-polyoxyethylene block polymers, benzalkonium, benzethonium, cetylalkonium, cetylpyridinium, cetyltrimethylammonium, dequalinium, sodium dodecyl sulfate, sodium cetyl sulfate, sodium stearyl sulfate, ethylene glycol monostearate, partial fatty acid esters of sorbitan (e.g. sorbitan monolaurate, sorbitan monopalmitate, sorbitan monostearate, sorbitan tristearate, Sorbitan monooleate, sorbitan sesquioleate, sorbitan trioleate, polysorbates (polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid esters), fatty acid esters of sucrose, fatty acid esters of polyglycerol and D-α-tocopheryl-1000-succinate.Preferably, the composition does not contain an artificial preservative. The mixture is added to phase C and stirred in.The product obtained contains 15.0 g cellulose, 43.0 g sorbitol, 27.9 g water, 3.0 g xylitol, 1.0 g xanthan, 5.0 g pentylene glycol, 0.2 g chlorophyllin, 2.4 g sodium cocoyl glutamate, 1.0 g saffron extract, 0.4 g lecithin, 0.5 g ubiquinone-10 and 0.6 g medium chain triglycerides. The product obtained was tested in one study.Procedure:The study included 20 adult subjects with healthy oral mucosa who used the product as dentifrice for three minutes each over a period of four weeks twice daily (morning and evening). On day 0 and on day 28, each subject was determined to have the gingival index and the plaque index. In addition, on day 28, each subject was filled in a questionnaire.Oral hygiene can be assessed by determining various indices, e.g., detecting the presence of plaque (microbial plaque) and signs of gum inflammation (gingiva). The plaque index provides a snapshot of the final cleaning events. Plaque can be visualized and evaluated by staining methods (Mira-2-Ton® Hager & Weren GmbH & Co.KG; plaque staining tablets). The plaque index is calculated from the number of plaque positive areas relative to the total number of areas. The plaque index was acquired by a skilled artisan. The degree of inflammation of the gum gives an impression of oral hygiene over a longer period of time, because inflammations develop only over a certain period of time. The degree of inflammation was classified according to gingival margin bleeding (gingival index). A periodontal probe was inserted into the gingival pocket to a depth of 0.5 mm at the maximum. After challenge, it was judged whether bleeding is present and its intensity is graded. The gingival index is calculated from the total number of measured degrees relative to the total number of all interdental spaces measured. The Gingival Index was determined by a skilled artisan. The values of the individual measurements were averaged and the differences of the pre-post values and the relative change of the mean values were calculated. The data sets were tested for normal distribution (Chi square test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test). The data were compared with a parametric test (Student's t-test). P<0.05 was accepted as significant and P<0.01 as highly statistically significant.Result:The gingival index determined on day 28 was average 91.5% (P=1.7×10 -6) lower than the gingival index on day 0. The condition of the gum thus improved markedly during the study period. The plaque index determined on day 28 was 42.3% (P=0.0015) on average lower than the plaque index on day 0. Thus, the condition of the teeth improved markedly during the study period and plaque was effectively removed. The product was very well tolerated and did not lead to dermatologically relevant mucosal changes in the oral cavity in any testee. The solid questionnaire on day 28 of each subject demonstrates that the majority of subjects confirm to the product an improvement in the mouth feel, particularly the teeth and gums. The majority of subjects also certifies reduced sensitivity of the teeth and gums, a long lasting sensation of freshness, a good cleaning effect, a good taste and an improvement in the state of teeth and gums.
