Description

[0001] The invention relates to a temperature control device for a motor vehicle. The temperature control device comprises a coolant circuit into which at least one latent heat accumulator is integrated. The latent heat accumulator is designed to release heat or absorb heat due to a phase change of at least one material contained in the latent heat accumulator during a discharging operation of the latent heat accumulator. During a charging operation of the latent heat accumulator, heat can be introduced into the material, or heat can be removed from the material during the charging operation. Furthermore, the invention relates to a motor vehicle with such a temperature control device.

[0002] DE 10 2016 006 682 A1 describes an air conditioning system for an electric or hybrid vehicle with a refrigerant circuit consisting of an indirect evaporator, an indirect condenser, an expansion device, and a refrigerant compressor. In a multi-way valve circuit, a first storage element of a thermal energy storage device can be preconditioned as a cold storage device, and a second storage element can be preconditioned as a heat storage device.

[0003] DE 10 2019 133 181 A1 describes a temperature management system for a motor vehicle in which cold energy can be stored in a latent heat storage unit integrated into the refrigeration circuit. Furthermore, heat energy can be stored in a latent heat storage unit integrated into the heating circuit.

[0004] Furthermore, DE 10 2010 018 906 A1 describes an air conditioning system for a passenger compartment of a vehicle, which comprises a latent heat storage device.

[0005] If a motor vehicle powered solely by an internal combustion engine has a latent heat storage device, heat contained in the engine's coolant circuit can be stored in the latent heat storage device, for example, when the vehicle is switched off. When the vehicle is restarted, this stored heat can be returned to the coolant circuit to warm up the engine more quickly.

[0006] In an electric vehicle, the electrical energy storage device can be actively heated while charging the electric vehicle's electrical energy storage device. The heat from the electrical energy storage device can then be used to heat the passenger compartment of the vehicle after the electric vehicle is started.

[0007] A disadvantage here is the fact that the electric vehicle's electrical energy storage system is generally not particularly well insulated. The heat that is laboriously supplied to the electrical energy storage system can therefore be lost to the environment relatively quickly and thus remains unused.

[0008] The object of the present invention is to provide a temperature control device of the type mentioned at the outset, in which the latent heat storage device can be used particularly flexibly, and to provide a motor vehicle with such a temperature control device.

[0009] This object is achieved by a temperature control device having the features of patent claim 1 and by a motor vehicle having the features of patent claim 7. Advantageous embodiments with expedient further developments of the invention are specified in the dependent patent claims and in the following description.

[0010] The temperature control device according to the invention for a motor vehicle comprises a coolant circuit into which at least one latent heat accumulator is integrated. The latent heat accumulator is designed to release heat or absorb heat due to a phase change of at least one material contained in the latent heat accumulator during a discharge operation of the latent heat accumulator. During a charging operation of the latent heat accumulator, heat can be introduced into the material or heat can be removed from the material. The latent heat accumulator has at least one first coolant line of the coolant circuit, via which heat can be introduced into the material of the latent heat accumulator during the charging operation. Furthermore, the latent heat accumulator has at least one second coolant line of the coolant circuit, via which heat can be removed from the material of the latent heat accumulator during the charging operation.

[0011] The same latent heat storage device can thus be used, on the one hand, to store heat by introducing heat into the material of the latent heat storage device via the first coolant line. This heat can be used, for example, to convert the at least one material contained in the latent heat storage device into a first state of matter. When the material changes from this first state of matter to a further state of matter, heat can be released. As a result, the latent heat storage device, which is charged with heat via the first coolant line during thermal charging operation, can release heat in a subsequent thermal discharging operation.

[0012] And, during thermal charging operation, heat can be dissipated from the material of the latent heat storage device via the second coolant line. Here, too, the at least one material contained in the latent heat storage device can be converted into a first state of matter, whereby heat can be absorbed by the material upon a phase change to a further state of matter. Consequently, the latent heat storage device can absorb heat during thermal discharging operation and thus be used as a cold storage device.

[0013] Since the same latent heat accumulator has both the at least one first coolant line and the at least one second coolant line, in particular, it is traversed by the at least one first coolant line and the at least one second coolant line, this latent heat accumulator can be used particularly flexibly, namely as a heat accumulator or as a heat sink or cold accumulator, as required. This results in a particularly compact design of the temperature control device, since the same latent heat accumulator is very flexible and versatile.

[0014] In the temperature control device according to the invention, the temperature control device comprises a first valve device which has at least one inlet connection and at least one first outlet connection and a second outlet connection. The first coolant line is coupled to one of the outlet connections. In this way, by moving the first valve device into a desired switching position, warm coolant can be introduced into the material of the latent heat storage device via the outlet connection coupled to the first coolant line during charging operation. Furthermore, by moving the valve device into a corresponding switching position, it can be ensured that coolant only flows through the first coolant line when needed. This is advantageous.

[0015] Via an additional line connected to the other outlet port of the first valve device, coolant can be returned to a refrigerant cooler, bypassing the latent heat accumulator. The refrigerant cooler is integrated into the coolant circuit and a refrigerant circuit of the temperature control device. By moving the first valve device to a corresponding switching position and thus utilizing the additional line, it can be ensured that the latent heat accumulator is only supplied with warm coolant when excess heat is present in the coolant circuit. This is advantageous for efficient operation of the temperature control device.

[0016] In the temperature control device according to the invention, the temperature control device comprises a second valve device, which has at least one inlet connection and at least one first outlet connection and one second outlet connection. The second coolant line is coupled to one of the outlet connections.

[0017] If ordinal numbers such as "first," "second," or similar are used above or below with reference to the valve device, these ordinal numbers do not represent a ranking or sequence. Rather, the respective designation of the valve device, for example, merely serves to distinguish the valve devices from one another. The same applies, for example, to the designation of the coolant lines of the latent heat storage device as the first coolant line or the second coolant line.

[0018] By moving the second valve device into a respective switching position, it can advantageously be ensured that cold or cooled coolant is introduced into the latent heat storage device via the second coolant line, thus dissipating heat from the material of the latent heat storage device. This allows the latent heat storage device to be charged as needed, during which heat is dissipated from the material of the latent heat storage device. Consequently, by using the second valve device, it can be ensured that the latent heat storage device is charged with cold when needed and can then be used as a cold storage device.

[0019] Via another line connected to the other outlet port of the second valve device, coolant can be recirculated to an evaporator, bypassing the latent heat storage device. The evaporator is integrated into the coolant circuit and the refrigerant circuit of the temperature control device. This ensures that, when there is no excess cold in the coolant, the latent heat storage device is not charged by dissipating heat from the material of the latent heat storage device. This allows the coolant's cold energy provided by the evaporator to be used for other purposes without restriction. This is advantageous.

[0020] In particular, if an energy source of the motor vehicle, which preferably has the temperature control device, is used to provide cold or heat by means of the temperature control device, energy can be saved by providing at least one latent heat storage device in the temperature control device. This allows more energy to be made available, in particular, for propelling the motor vehicle. This is advantageous for achieving a long range of the motor vehicle.

[0021] In addition, depending on the climatic conditions in the area where the temperature control system is used, the latent heat storage unit can advantageously be used to release or absorb heat during discharge operation. This allows for highly variable use of the latent heat storage unit.

[0022] In contrast to the use of an electrical energy storage device as a heat storage device, the latent heat storage device allows the heat introduced into it to be stored with very little loss and thus used particularly long-term.

[0023] According to the invention, a refrigerant cooler through which a refrigerant flows is integrated into the coolant circuit. The refrigerant cooler is additionally integrated into a refrigerant circuit of the temperature control device. Preferably, the first coolant line is fluidly connected to the refrigerant cooler or can be fluidly connected to the refrigerant cooler.

[0024] This is based on the realization that the refrigerant cooler, which can be operated as a condenser or a gas cooler depending on the refrigerant used in the refrigerant circuit, can be used very effectively as a heat source during operation of the refrigerant circuit. This is because waste heat is generated at the refrigerant cooler for the purpose of cooling the refrigerant. If this waste heat is introduced into the coolant, which can be fed to the latent heat storage unit via the first coolant line, the heat released at the refrigerant cooler during operation of the refrigerant circuit can be used very effectively. This is advantageous.

[0025] According to the invention, an evaporator through which a refrigerant flows is integrated into the coolant circuit, which is additionally integrated into a refrigerant circuit of the temperature control device. Preferably, the second coolant line is fluidly connected to the evaporator or can be fluidly connected to the evaporator.

[0026] This is based on the realization that heat is absorbed by the evaporator during operation of the refrigerant circuit, causing the refrigerant circuit to evaporate. This heat can then be extracted from the coolant, which flows through the evaporator just like the refrigerant. Such an evaporator, which is integrated into the refrigerant circuit and in which the evaporation of the refrigerant takes place during operation of the refrigerant circuit, and which is also integrated into the coolant circuit, is also called a chiller.

[0027] The coolant cooled by the chiller can be used in the temperature control system for a variety of cooling purposes. In particular, the coolant cooled by the chiller can be introduced into the latent heat storage device via the second coolant line to dissipate heat from the material of the latent heat storage device during charging operation.

[0028] Due to the high heat capacity of the preferably liquid coolant flowing through the coolant circuit compared to air, it is advantageous to cool the refrigerant cooler of the refrigerant circuit with the liquid coolant and to absorb heat from the liquid coolant at the evaporator of the refrigerant circuit. This allows the charging operation of at least one latent heat storage device to be carried out particularly efficiently.

[0029] The temperature control device preferably comprises a coolant distribution device having a first inlet. Coolant heated by the refrigerant cooler can be introduced into the coolant distribution device via the first inlet. The coolant distribution device has a second inlet, through which coolant cooled by the evaporator can be introduced into the coolant distribution device. The at least one latent heat accumulator is integrated into the coolant distribution device.

[0030] This is advantageous because the coolant distribution device can be supplied with both heated and cooled coolant. The corresponding coolant flows can be routed via the first coolant line and the second coolant line of the latent heat storage device to introduce heat into the material of the latent heat storage device during charging operation of the latent heat storage device or to remove heat from the material of the latent heat storage device. Therefore, the use of the coolant distribution device for accommodating the latent heat storage device is particularly well suited.

[0031] Preferably, the first valve device and / or the second valve device are integrated into the latent heat storage device. Thus, the latent heat storage device provides a compact assembly that can be integrated into the coolant circuit very easily and with little effort during the manufacture of the temperature control device. This is advantageous. Furthermore, very short line paths can be advantageously implemented. This contributes to the compactness of the coolant circuit and the temperature control device.

[0032] The first valve device and / or the second valve device can be designed as a switching valve or as a proportional valve. Designing the valve device as a switching valve results in a particularly simple valve structure. And designing the valve device as a proportional valve allows for particularly fine adjustment of the heat supply to the latent heat storage device or heat removal from the latent heat storage device. This is advantageous.

[0033] Preferably, the at least one latent heat storage device contains a plurality of materials that have different phase change temperatures. This allows heat to be released or absorbed over a wider range of temperatures during discharge operation due to the phase transition of the materials contained in the latent heat storage device.

[0034] This facilitates flexible and versatile use of the temperature control system. On the one hand, during charging operation, heat can be introduced into the at least one material of the latent heat storage device, or heat can be dissipated from the at least one material, with particularly low loss.

[0035] Furthermore, this allows the charged latent heat storage unit to be used for a particularly long time in the discharge mode, in which the latent heat storage unit releases or absorbs heat. This promotes the efficient use of at least one latent heat storage unit.

[0036] The motor vehicle according to the invention has a temperature control device according to the invention. This is based on the finding that the at least one latent heat accumulator can be used particularly effectively in the motor vehicle, for example, to introduce heat or cold into a passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and / or to cool components of the motor vehicle that are to be cooled and / or to heat components of the motor vehicle that are to be heated.

[0037] The motor vehicle having the temperature control device is preferably designed as an electric vehicle or a hybrid vehicle. This is based on the recognition that, particularly in electric vehicles or hybrid vehicles, an increase in range is advantageous, which can be achieved by using at least one latent heat storage device.

[0038] The advantages and preferred embodiments described for the temperature control device according to the invention also apply to the motor vehicle according to the invention and vice versa.

[0039] The invention therefore also includes further developments of the motor vehicle according to the invention that have features already described in connection with the further developments of the temperature control device according to the invention. For this reason, the corresponding further developments of the motor vehicle according to the invention are not described again here.

[0040] The motor vehicle according to the invention is preferably designed as a motor vehicle, in particular as a passenger car or truck, or as a passenger bus.

[0041] The invention also encompasses combinations of the features of the described embodiments. The invention therefore also encompasses implementations that each comprise a combination of the features of several of the described embodiments, unless the embodiments are described as mutually exclusive.

[0042] Exemplary embodiments of the invention are described below. Shown are: Fig. 1 schematically shows a temperature control device in which a latent heat storage device is integrated into a coolant circuit, wherein the temperature control device additionally comprises a refrigerant circuit; Fig. 2 a variant of the integration of the latent heat storage into the coolant circuit of the temperature control device according to Fig. 1; Fig. 3 another variant of the integration of the latent heat storage into the coolant circuit of the temperature control device according to Fig. 1; Fig. 4 schematically shows the latent heat storage device, into which heat can be introduced via a first coolant line, and from which heat can be removed via a second coolant line; and Fig. 5 schematically shows a motor vehicle designed as an electric vehicle, which can have the temperature control device.

[0043] The exemplary embodiments explained below are preferred embodiments of the invention. In the exemplary embodiments, the described components of the embodiments each represent individual features of the invention that can be considered independently of one another, each of which also develops the invention independently of one another. Therefore, the disclosure is intended to encompass combinations of the features of the embodiments other than those shown. Furthermore, the described embodiments can also be supplemented by further features of the invention already described.

[0044] In the figures, the same reference symbols designate elements with the same function.

[0045] In Fig. 1 shows a tempering device 10, such as is used, for example, in a Fig. 5. The temperature control device 10 comprises a coolant circuit 14, in which a preferably liquid coolant circulates during operation. Furthermore, the temperature control device 10 comprises a refrigerant circuit 16, through which a refrigerant flows during operation.

[0046] The refrigerant circuit 16 includes a compressor 18, in which the refrigerant is compressed. The compressed refrigerant is then fed to a refrigerant cooler 20, which is integrated into both the refrigerant circuit 16 and the coolant circuit 14. Depending on the refrigerant used, the refrigerant cooler 20 can be operated as a gas cooler or as a condenser. In the refrigerant cooler 20, the refrigerant transfers heat to the coolant, which also flows through the refrigerant cooler 20. Consequently, the refrigerant cooler 20 can be used as a heat source in the coolant circuit 14.

[0047] At least one latent heat storage device 22 is integrated into the coolant circuit 14. The latent heat storage device 22 is Fig. 1 is shown only schematically and not with regard to its actual integration into the coolant circuit 14. With regard to the structure of the latent heat storage device 22, reference is first made to Fig. 4. Accordingly, the latent heat storage device 22 contains at least one material 24 capable of undergoing a phase change. Due to the phase change, the material 24 contained in the latent heat storage device 22 can release or absorb heat during a discharge operation of the latent heat storage device 22.

[0048] For example, a phase change of material 24 can occur as a change in state of matter from solid to liquid or from liquid to solid. During the phase change from liquid to solid, material 24 releases heat, namely the heat released during solidification of material 24.

[0049] When the latent heat storage device 22 absorbs heat during discharge operation and is thus used as a cold storage device, this can also be accompanied by a phase change, for example, from a solid state of the material 24 to a liquid state of the material 24. During this phase change, the heat required to melt the material 24 is absorbed by the material 24.

[0050] The latent heat storage 22 has Fig. 4 has a first coolant line 26, via which heat can be introduced into the material 24 of the latent heat storage device 22 during charging operation. This can be achieved, for example, by fluidly coupling the coolant line 26 to the refrigerant cooler 20 (see Fig. 1).

[0051] Furthermore, an evaporator 28 through which the refrigerant flows is integrated into the coolant circuit 14 and is also integrated into the coolant circuit 16. An expansion device 30 is connected upstream of the evaporator 28, which serves to expand the refrigerant coming from the refrigerant cooler 20. The evaporated refrigerant leaving the evaporator 28 is fed back to the compressor 18 of the refrigerant circuit 16. Since the evaporator 28 can cool the liquid refrigerant flowing through the coolant circuit 14, the evaporator 28 is also referred to as a chiller.

[0052] According to Fig. 4, the latent heat storage device 22 has a second coolant line 32, via which heat can be removed from the material 24 of the latent heat storage device 22 during charging operation of the latent heat storage device 22. For this purpose, cooled coolant can be introduced into the latent heat storage device 22 via the coolant line 32.

[0053] The coolant, which is introduced into the latent heat storage 22 via the coolant line 32, can be cooled, for example, by means of the evaporator 28 (see Fig. 1). Thus, the refrigerant cooler 20 of the refrigerant circuit 16 can be used as a heat source for the latent heat storage 22. And the evaporator 28 of the refrigerant circuit 16 can be used as a cooling source for the latent heat storage 22.

[0054] In the Fig. In the variant of the temperature control device 10 shown in Figure 1, the latent heat accumulator 22 is integrated into a coolant distribution device 34. The coolant distribution device 34 has a first inlet 36, through which coolant heated by the refrigerant cooler 20 can be introduced into the coolant distribution device 34. If the first coolant line 26 is coupled to this first inlet 36, heat can be introduced into the material 24 of the latent heat accumulator 22.

[0055] Furthermore, the coolant distribution device 34 in this case has a second inlet 38, via which coolant cooled by the evaporator 28 can be introduced into the coolant distribution device 34. If the second coolant line 32 of the latent heat accumulator 22 is coupled to the second inlet 38, the latent heat accumulator 22 can be supplied with the cooled coolant coming from the evaporator 28 in order to dissipate heat from the material 24 of the latent heat accumulator 22 during charging operation.

[0056] In the present case, the coolant distribution device 34 has a plurality of outlets 40, 42, 44, 46. Three of the outlets, namely the outlets 40, 42 and 46, as shown in Fig. 1, be fluidically connected to the first inlet 36. Furthermore, three of the outlets, namely the outlets 40, 44 and 46, as shown in Fig. 1 can be coupled to the second inlet 38 as shown by way of example.

[0057] Thus, either heated or cooled coolant can be discharged from the coolant distribution device 34 via the first outlet 40. In contrast, only heated coolant can be discharged from the coolant distribution device 34 via the second outlet 42. Only cooled coolant can be discharged from the coolant distribution device 34 via the third outlet 44. Both heated coolant and cooled coolant can be discharged from the coolant distribution device 34 via the fourth outlet 46.

[0058] The coolant coming from the first outlet 40 and cooled by the evaporator 28 can be fed to a battery cooler 48, which is used to cool a battery or an electrical energy storage device 50 of the motor vehicle 12 (see Fig. 5) is usable.

[0059] The coolant that can be discharged from the coolant distribution device 34 via the second outlet 42 can be supplied to a heating heat exchanger 52, by means of which a passenger compartment 54 of the motor vehicle 12 (cf. Fig. 5) is heated. The battery cooler 48 and the heater core 52 are integrated into the coolant circuit 14.

[0060] By using the first outlet 40, the heat coming from the first inlet 36 of the coolant distribution device 34 or the correspondingly heated coolant can also be supplied to the battery cooler 48. Therefore, the battery cooler 48 can also be used to heat the battery or the electrical energy storage device 50 (see Fig. 5) can be used.

[0061] The coolant discharged from the coolant distribution device 34 via the third outlet 44 can be supplied to a heat exchanger 56 integrated into the coolant circuit 14, by means of which the passenger compartment 54 of the motor vehicle 12 can be cooled.

[0062] Via the fourth outlet 46 of the coolant distribution device 34, coolant that is optionally heated by the refrigerant cooler 20 or cooled by the evaporator 28 can be supplied to electrical and / or electronic components 58 of the motor vehicle 12. As an example of such a component 58, Fig. 5 schematically shows an electric drive motor 60, which is preferably designed to drive wheels 62 of the motor vehicle 12 (compare Fig. 5).

[0063] In this case, the components 58 are integrated into a partial circuit 64 of the coolant circuit 14, in which the coolant can be pumped by means of a pump 66. By operating the pump 66, the coolant can be supplied to a cooler 68, which is integrated into the partial circuit 64. A fan 70 can be assigned to the cooler 68.

[0064] At least one further pump for conveying the coolant entering the coolant distribution device 34 from the refrigerant cooler 20 and from the evaporator 28 or for further conveying the coolant through the coolant circuit 14 is provided in Fig. 1 not shown in detail for reasons of clarity.

[0065] Furthermore, a bypass line (not shown here) may be provided to bypass the cooler 68. The heated or cooled coolant coming from the fourth outlet 46 can then be supplied to the components 58, bypassing the cooler 68.

[0066] The coolant coming from component 58 can be returned to the refrigerant cooler 20 or to the evaporator 28. For this purpose, a switching valve 72 is provided downstream of the component 58 in the coolant circuit 14, more precisely in the partial circuit 64, which, in a first switching position, allows the coolant to pass through to a first node 74. From this first node 74 of the coolant circuit 14, the coolant can be returned to the refrigerant cooler 20. In a second switching position of the switching valve 72, the coolant is guided to a further or second node 76, from which the coolant can be returned to the evaporator 28.

[0067] A line 78 coming from the heater core 52 and a line 80 coming from the battery cooler 48 are connected to the first node 74. And another line 82 coming from the battery cooler 48 is connected to the second node 76. The coolant coming from the heat exchanger 56 can also be recirculated to the evaporator 28 via the second node 76 and a further or third node 84 of the coolant circuit 14.

[0068] However, the coolant circuit 14 described here is merely an example to illustrate a possible integration of the latent heat storage device 22 into the temperature control device 10.

[0069] In Fig. 2 and in Fig. 3 schematically shows variants of the temperature control device 10. For reasons of clarity, not all details of the temperature control device 10 are provided with reference numerals, which have already been explained with reference to Fig. 1 have been explained.

[0070] In Fig. 2 shows a first variant of the temperature control device 10, in which the latent heat accumulator 22 is not integrated into the coolant distribution device 34, but is integrated into the coolant circuit 14 via a first valve device 86 and a second valve device 88.

[0071] The first valve device 86 in this case has an inlet connection 90, via which the first valve device 86 is connected to the first node 74. Furthermore, the first valve device 86 has a first outlet connection 92, to which the first coolant line 26 of the latent heat accumulator 22 is connected. A further line 96 of the coolant circuit 14 is connected to a second outlet connection 94 of the first valve device 86. The coolant can be recirculated to the refrigerant cooler 20 via this further line 96, bypassing the latent heat accumulator 22.

[0072] At the Fig. 2, the first valve device 86 is designed as a 3 / 2-way valve. Similarly, in this variant of the temperature control device 10, the second valve device 88 is designed as a 3 / 2-way valve. The second valve device 88 has an inlet connection 98 and a first outlet connection 100. The second coolant line 32 (see Fig. 4) is connected to the second valve device 88. Furthermore, the second valve device 88 has a second outlet connection 102. A further line 104 is coupled to the second valve device 88 via the second outlet connection 102. The coolant can be returned to the evaporator 28 via the further line 104, bypassing the latent heat accumulator 22.

[0073] At the Fig. In the further variant of the temperature control device 10 shown in Figure 3, the first node 74 can be provided by the first valve device 86. In this embodiment, the first valve device 86 has three inlet ports and two outlet ports 92, 94. Accordingly, the first valve device 86 is designed as a multi-way valve with five ports and more than two switching positions, and thus as a 5 / 2-way valve.

[0074] This is intended to make it clear that the first valve device 86 can be designed as an n-fold multi-way valve. This also applies to the second valve device 88. In an analogous manner, Fig. In the variant of the temperature control device 10 shown in Figure 3, the second valve device 88 has two inlet ports and two outlet ports 100, 102. The second valve device 88 is accordingly designed as a 4 / 2-way valve.

[0075] This makes it clear that the number of connections and the number of switching positions of the respective valve devices 86, 88 in the variants of the temperature control device 10 shown are to be understood as examples only.

[0076] According to Fig. 4, the latent heat storage device 22 preferably has a thermally insulating casing 106. This allows heat losses during operation of the latent heat storage device 22 to be largely avoided.

[0077] Overall, the examples show how a thermal latent heat storage 22 or cold storage can be provided, in particular for interior heating and to increase the range of the motor vehicle 12.
