AI Technical Summary
Existing systems for positioning objects along a direction of movement suffer from reduced precision and shortened service life due to damage to rollers and bearings caused by excessive force transmission during adjustment, which is necessary to reduce play between the rollers and guide bodies.
Applying a defined force to adjustable rollers using a spring arrangement and eccentric mechanism to adjust the distance between the rollers and guide bodies, allowing for automatic compensation of play without damaging the rollers or bearings, thereby maintaining precision and extending the system's service life.
The solution ensures precise positioning with improved rolling behavior and increased service life by automatically adjusting the play between rollers and guide bodies, reducing the need for manual tools and minimizing mechanical stress on the rollers and bearings.
Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a system for positioning an object along a direction of movement, which system comprises a carriage for arranging the object and a guide device along which the carriage is guided for positioning the object.
[0002] The positioning of an object along a direction of movement can be achieved using a system that includes a carriage for arranging the object on the system, as well as a guide device along which the carriage is guided and thus moved. Such systems typically include a carriage equipped with rollers, with the rollers interacting with guide bodies of the guide device. To improve the guidance of the carriage, play between the roller and the guide body must be reduced.
[0003] Such a system is known from DE 197 04 711 A1. The system comprises an adjustment device for adjusting the rollers of a carriage toward or away from the corresponding guide bodies of a guide device of the system. The adjustment device thus allows the reduction of play between the rollers and the guide body. The adjustment device comprises screws for adjusting the adjustable rollers. The adjustment is achieved by adjusting the corresponding rollers using a tool and then re-locking them.
[0004] Adjusting the rollers can damage the roller bearings, which will shorten the lifespan of the system and reduce the precision of positioning.
[0005] The present invention is concerned with the object of providing an improved or at least different embodiment for a system of the type mentioned at the outset, which is characterized in particular by an easy adjustment of the guide play and an increased service life while at the same time maintaining precision.
[0006] This object is achieved according to the invention by the subject matter of independent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are the subject matter of the dependent claims.
[0007] The present invention is therefore based on the fundamental idea of applying a defined force in the direction of associated guide bodies to adjustable rollers of a carriage of a system for positioning an object. The defined and thus predetermined force of the application prevents or at least reduces excessive force transmission to the roller. This prevents or at least reduces damage to the roller and, in particular, to a bearing associated with the roller. As a result, a simple and precise reduction of play between the roller and the associated guide body is achieved, which leads to improved rolling behavior of the rollers on the guide bodies and consequently to increased positioning precision.Secondly, this increased precision is achieved while avoiding or at least reducing damage, so that the system as a whole has an extended service life while maintaining precision. At the same time, the adjustment can be performed automatically due to the application of the defined force and thus with reduced effort, simplifying the operation of the system.
[0008] In keeping with the inventive concept, the system features a carriage. The carriage serves to arrange an object to be positioned on the system.
[0009] The system further comprises a device, also referred to below as a guide device, for guiding the carriage along a direction and thus for positioning the object along this direction. This direction is also referred to below as the direction of movement. The guide device comprises at least two guide bodies extending along the direction of movement and spaced from one another in a spacing direction running transversely to the direction of movement. The carriage has at least one associated roller for each guide body. The rollers are each mounted on the carriage so that they can roll about an associated rolling axis, such that the respective roller rolls along the associated guide body to move the carriage along the direction of movement. At least one of the rollers is adjustable in the spacing direction. The adjustment of the at least one adjustable roller in the spacing direction is carried out by means of a device of the system, which is also referred to below as the adjustment device. To adjust at least one of the at least one adjustable rollers, preferably the respective adjustable roller, the adjustment device mechanically applies a predetermined force to the roller in the spacing direction against the associated guide body.
[0010] The system conveniently enables a linear movement of the carriage and thus a linear positioning of the object to be positioned.
[0011] The system can be used in any application to position an object required in the application.
[0012] In particular, the system is used in a system to position a device and / or a component within the system along the direction of movement.
[0013] The system may comprise a drive for moving the carriage along the direction of movement, which drive is connected to the carriage so that the drive drives the carriage during operation.
[0014] The rollers advantageously have an outer surface / circumferential surface geometry that is matched to the associated guide body, resulting in a positive connection between the rollers and guide bodies, and thus ultimately between the carriage and the guide device, along the roller axes. For example, if the guide body has a circular cross-section, the associated roller has a substantially V- or U-shaped outer geometry, so that it partially encompasses the guide body.
[0015] The trolley conveniently has a main body in which the rollers are accommodated and which serves to arrange the object.
[0016] The main body advantageously has a section for the rollers, hereinafter also referred to as the roller section, as well as a section serving to position the object, hereinafter also referred to as the support section. The rollers are thus accommodated in the roller section. The support section is preferably arranged outside the guide device. The support section preferably projects from the roller section transversely to the spacing direction and transversely to the direction of movement.
[0017] The carriage can only have one associated roller for each guide body.
[0018] Advantageously, the carriage has at least two rollers, for example, exactly two, for each guide body. This makes guiding the carriage in the direction of movement more precise and easier.
[0019] In principle, at least one such adjustable roller can be assigned to the respective guide body.
[0020] Advantageously, at least one such adjustable roller is assigned to only one of the guide bodies. Preferably, at least two, in particular exactly two, adjustable rollers are assigned to only one of the guide bodies. In particular, all of the adjustable rollers can be assigned to one of the guide bodies.
[0021] Particularly preferred embodiments are those in which the adjusting device acts jointly on at least two of the at least two adjustable rollers assigned to a guide body against the associated guide body.
[0022] In principle, the guide bodies can be provided in any way in the guide device.
[0023] The guide device preferably has a profile with the guide bodies. Thus, the position of the guide bodies is precisely defined in a simple and mechanically stable manner. This leads to increased positioning precision. Furthermore, the rollers can be arranged in a space-saving manner. For example, the roller section can be arranged in the profile. This leads to a compact design and improved protection of the roller section and thus, in particular, the rollers.
[0024] The guide bodies can be attached to the profile as components separate from the profile, in particular accommodated in a respective associated receptacle of the profile.
[0025] It is conceivable to form at least one of the guide bodies on the profile, i.e. to form it integrally on the profile.
[0026] In principle, the guide elements of the guide device can be of any shape. A round cross-section of the guide elements is particularly conceivable, for example, the guide elements can be designed as round rods.
[0027] Typically, the guide bodies are designed as separate components. This makes it possible to use a different material for the guide bodies than for the profile. While the profile is an extruded aluminum profile, for example, precision shafts made of a steel material can be used as the guide bodies.
[0028] The rollers of the carriage can be arranged on any side of the guide body relative to the associated guide body. This means that the at least one roller assigned to the respective guide body can be arranged on the side facing the other guide body or on the side facing away from the other guide body. Accordingly, the adjustable rollers are loaded inwardly or outwardly against the associated guide body in the spacing direction.
[0029] The adjusting device can be designed in any way to apply the predetermined force to at least one adjustable roller.
[0030] It is conceivable to provide the adjusting device with an actuator which, during operation, applies the predetermined force to at least one of the at least one adjustable roller against the associated guide body.
[0031] In preferred embodiments, the adjustment device comprises a spring arrangement comprising at least one spring, by means of which the at least one adjustable roller is subjected to the predetermined force. This leads to a simplified and cost-effective implementation, while at the same time eliminating the need for a separate power supply for the application, for example, an electrical power supply for an actuator. The latter, in particular, allows for the autonomous provision of the predetermined force.
[0032] In principle, the spring arrangement can have any number of springs.
[0033] Advantageously, the spring arrangement comprises a single spring. This results in a simplified and cost-effective implementation.
[0034] The respective at least one spring of the spring arrangement can be of any type.
[0035] Advantageously, at least one of the at least one springs of the spring arrangement, in particular the sole spring of the spring arrangement, is a coil spring, for example a coil tension spring. This allows the specified force to be adjusted precisely, easily, and sustainably. This improves precision while increasing service life.
[0036] Preferred embodiments are those in which the adjusting device for the respective adjustable roller comprises an eccentric. The respective eccentric is connected to the associated adjustable roller and is rotatable about a rotational axis, i.e., eccentrically relative to the rolling axis, offset from the rolling axis of the associated adjustable roller, such that rotation of the eccentric about the rotational axis adjusts the associated adjustable roller in the spacing direction. The adjusting device, preferably the spring arrangement, preloads the at least one eccentric such that the roller associated with the eccentric is subjected to the predetermined force acting in the spacing direction against the associated guide body. This simplifies the application of the force. In addition, the force is applied via the leverage effect achieved by the respective eccentric, resulting in a reduced and defined force transmission to the roller and, in particular, to the roller bearing. This results in further increased precision and service life.
[0037] In a preferred development of the solution according to the invention, the system has a device which can lock and release the adjustment of at least one of the adjustable rollers, preferably the respective adjustable roller, in the spacing direction. This means that the adjustment and thus the reduction of the play can be released as needed by means of the device and then locked again. This device is also referred to below as the locking device. The locking device is adjustable between a fixed position and a release position. In the release position, the locking device releases movement of at least one of the at least one adjustable rollers, preferably the respective adjustable roller, in the spacing direction, thus permitting adjustment of the adjustable roller. In the release position, the adjustable roller is therefore adjustable in the spacing direction and is subjected to the force against the guide body.As a result, any existing play between the adjustable roller and the guide body can be eliminated or at least reduced. In contrast, at least one of the at least one adjustable rollers, preferably the respective adjustable roller, is fixed in the locking position of the locking device in the spacing direction. In the release position, the at least one adjustable roller is automatically loaded and the play is thus automatically compensated or at least reduced. During the subsequent adjustment to the locking position, the state with the compensated or at least reduced play is again automatically fixed. In this way, the play between the adjustable roller and the associated guide body can be eliminated or at least reduced as needed, in particular on a regular basis, without great effort.Furthermore, the pressure applied to the adjustable roller against the associated guide body is interrupted or eliminated in the locking position, particularly during operation, thus improving the rolling behavior of the adjustable roller on the associated guide body. This leads to smoother operation and more precise positioning.
[0038] The locking device preferably cooperates with the at least one eccentric to achieve the release position and the locking position. Preferably, in the release position, the locking device enables rotation of the at least one eccentric about the associated axis of rotation, such that the respective adjustable roller can be adjusted in the spacing direction and is subjected to the force against the associated guide body. Furthermore, in the locking position, the locking device blocks rotation of the eccentric about the associated axis of rotation, such that the respective adjustable roller is fixed in the spacing direction. Thus, direct action on the at least one adjustable roller and in particular on the respective bearing can be avoided. The result is that damage to the roller and in particular to the bearing caused by the action of the locking device is avoided or at least reduced. This results in an increased service life and at the same time increased positioning precision.
[0039] In preferred embodiments, the locking device comprises a clamping plate, which clamps the at least one eccentric against the carriage in the locking position and releases the clamping in the release position. In addition to simplifying the locking device's implementation, the clamping plate allows for a flexible / elastic clamping of the at least one eccentric. Thus, in addition to simplifying implementation, damage to the eccentric is also prevented. Consequently, the service life of the system is further increased.
[0040] Advantageously, the clamping plate is adjustable along the roll axes and thus along the rotation axis for adjustment between the release and locking positions. This means, in particular, that the clamping plate is moved linearly along the roll axes for adjustment between the release and locking positions. This results in a space-saving design, as well as simple implementation and operation.
[0041] To adjust and secure the clamping plate in the locking position, the locking device advantageously has at least one screw, which, in the locking position, presses the clamping plate against the carriage. In other words, the clamping plate is mechanically pressed against the carriage by at least one screw in the locking position, thus clamping the at least one eccentric. When the screw is loosened, the at least one adjustable roller is automatically loaded, automatically compensating or at least reducing the play.
[0042] Preferably, the at least one screw is guided through the main body. The at least one screw can be screwed into the main body. The tensioning plate is thus adjusted by screwing the at least one screw through the tensioning plate. The tightening torque of the at least one screw is thus decoupled from the rollers. As a result, damage to the rollers and bearings is better prevented or at least reduced. This results in further improved precision and a further increase in service life.
[0043] Preferably, the at least one screw is accessible via the support section. Thus, the locking device can be adjusted and the play compensated for easily and with minimal effort, in particular without removing the carriage from the guide device.
[0044] Preferred embodiments are those in which the respective eccentric has an arm, wherein the spring arrangement is connected to the arms of at least two of the eccentrics and thus preloads the at least two eccentrics against one another such that the adjustable rollers associated with the respective eccentric are applied against the associated guide body. This results in particularly simple implementation and, at the same time, particularly precise adjustment of the predetermined force. As a result, the play is compensated for or at least reduced more easily and precisely, while at the same time damage, in particular to the roller and the associated bearing, is prevented or at least reduced. The result is an increased service life with improved precision.
[0045] Further important features and advantages of the invention emerge from the subclaims, from the drawings and from the associated description of the figures based on the drawings.
[0046] It is understood that the features mentioned above and those to be explained below can be used not only in the combination specified in each case, but also in other combinations or on their own, without departing from the scope of the present invention.
[0047] Preferred embodiments of the invention are illustrated in the drawings and are explained in more detail in the following description, wherein the same reference numerals refer to the same or similar or functionally identical components.
[0048] They show, schematically Fig. 1 an isometric view of a system with a carriage and a guide device, Fig. 2 a sectional view of the guide device, Fig. 3 an isometric view towards a top of the car, Fig. 4 a view towards an underside of the carriage with an adjustment device, Fig. 5 an isometric view towards the underside of the carriage with the adjustment device, Fig. 6 a sectional view through the carriage with the adjustment device.
[0049] One in Fig. 1, the system 1 shown as an example serves for the linear positioning of an object (not shown) along a direction R1, which is also referred to below as the direction of movement R1. The system 1 has a carriage 2 and a guide device 3. The carriage 2 serves to arrange the object and is guided along the direction of movement R1 by means of the guide device 3. The guide device 3 can be stationary in an associated system (not shown), so that the object is positioned in the system by moving the carriage 2 along the direction of movement R1. To move the carriage 2, the system 1 in the exemplary embodiments shown has a drive 4, which can be electric, for example.
[0050] Fig. 2 shows a sectional view of the guide device 3. Fig. 3 shows an isometric view towards a top of the carriage 2 and Fig. 4 a view towards an underside of the carriage 2.
[0051] The guide device 3 has, as Fig. 2, two guide bodies 5 extending along the direction of movement R1. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the guide bodies 5 are each designed as a round rod 6. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the guide device 3 further comprises a profile body 7, also referred to as profile 7 for short, which is provided with the guide bodies 5. The guide bodies 5 are spaced from one another in a direction R2 running transversely to the direction of movement R1, which is also referred to below as the spacing direction R2. In the exemplary embodiments shown, the guide bodies 5 are arranged purely by way of example within the profile 7 and are accommodated in the profile 7 as components separate from the profile 7.
[0052] For example, a summary of the Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 can be removed, the carriage 2 has at least one associated roller 8 for the respective guide body 5, which rolls along the associated guide body 5 to move the carriage 2 and thus to position the object. For this purpose, the respective roller 8 is mounted on the carriage 2 so as to be rollable about an associated axis A, which is also referred to below as the rolling axis A. In the exemplary embodiments shown, the rollers 8 are designed with a substantially U-shaped outer geometry, so that the respective roller 8 engages around the associated guide body 5 (not shown).
[0053] In the embodiments shown, the carriage 2 has a main body 9, on which the rollers 8 are each mounted in a rollable manner. As in Fig. 6, a bearing 10 is accommodated in the main body 9 for each roller 8. In Fig. 4, the main body 9 is only partially shown, so that the rollers 8 are visible. In the exemplary embodiments shown, two rollers 8 are assigned to the respective guide body 5, for example, which follow one another along the direction of movement R1. At least one of the rollers 8 is adjustable in the spacing direction R2. These rollers 8 are also referred to below as adjustable rollers 8, 8a for better differentiation. In the exemplary embodiments shown, purely for example, both rollers 8 assigned to one of the guide bodies 5 are designed as adjustable rollers 8, 8a, whereas no such adjustment is provided for the rollers 8 assigned to the other guide body 5. These rollers 8 are also referred to below as rigid rollers 8, 8b for better differentiation. As will be particularly Fig. As can be seen from Figure 4, in the exemplary embodiments shown, the adjustable rollers 8, 8a are arranged closer to each other in the direction of movement R1 than the rigid rollers 8, 8b, purely by way of example. Furthermore, in the exemplary embodiments shown, the adjustable rollers 8, 8a are arranged between the rigid rollers 8, 8b in the direction of movement R1, purely by way of example.
[0054] For example Fig. 3, the main body 9 is divided into two sections 11, 12 in the illustrated embodiments. A section 11 penetrating into the profile 7 serves to accommodate the rollers 8 and is hereinafter also referred to as roller section 11. A section 12 following the roller section 11 serves to arrange and support the object and is hereinafter also referred to as support section 12. For example, Fig. 3, the carrier section 12 can have receptacles 22 for this purpose, which in the embodiment shown are groove-like, so that the object or a fastening element (not shown) carrying the object can be inserted into the receptacles 22 in the direction of movement R2.
[0055] Like the Fig. 4 to 6, the system 1 has a device 13 for adjusting the at least one adjustable roller 8, 8a in the spacing direction R2. The device 13 is also referred to below as the adjusting device 13. As will be explained in more detail below, the adjusting device 13 mechanically applies a predetermined force in the spacing direction R2 to at least one of the adjustable rollers 8, 8a against the associated guide body 5. The adjusting device 13 therefore acts with a predetermined force on at least one of the adjustable rollers 8, 8a such that the roller 8, 8a is subjected to the predetermined force against the associated guide body 5. In the exemplary embodiments shown, the predetermined force therefore acts outwards in the spacing direction R2 and thus towards the associated guide body 5.In the exemplary embodiments shown, the adjusting device 13 mechanically applies a predetermined force in the spacing direction R2 to the respective adjustable roller 8, 8a against the associated guide body 5. The following advantages can thus be achieved. Firstly, any play that may exist between the respective adjustable roller 8, 8a and the associated guide body 5 is automatically compensated for. This results in an improvement in the running behavior of the rollers 8 and in particular of the at least one adjustable roller 8, 8a in a simple manner and with little effort. Consequently, more precise operation of the system 1 and, associated with this, more precise positioning of the object are achieved. Secondly, the play is compensated for by means of the predetermined force, so that damage, in particular to the adjustable rollers 8 and the bearings 10, is prevented or at least reduced. This in turn leads to improved running behavior and consequently to higher precision and also to an increased service life of the system 1.
[0056] As only in Fig. 4, the adjusting device 13 in the embodiments shown has a spring arrangement 15 comprising at least one spring 14 for acting on the adjustable rollers 8, 8a, which spring arrangement 15 is only Fig. 4 is shown / visible. The loading is therefore carried out by means of the spring arrangement 15. According to Fig. 4, the spring arrangement 15 of the embodiment shown has for this purpose a single spring 14, which can be designed, for example, as a spiral spring 17.
[0057] Like the Fig. 4 to 6, the adjusting device 13 in the embodiments shown has an eccentric 16 for the respective adjustable roller 8, 8a. The respective eccentric 16 is connected to the associated adjustable roller 8, 8a and offset from the rolling axis A of the associated adjustable roller 8, 8a by only Fig. 4, so that a rotation of the eccentric 16 about the axis D adjusts the associated adjustable roller 8, 8a in the spacing direction R2. The axis D is also referred to below as the rotation axis D. The rotation axes D of the eccentrics 16 can expediently run parallel to the rolling axes A. In the exemplary embodiments shown, the adjusting device 13 acts on the respective eccentric 16 in such a way that the adjustable roller 8, 8a associated with the respective eccentric 16 is subjected to the predetermined force acting in the spacing direction R2 against the associated guide body 5. In the exemplary embodiments shown, this takes place by means of a preload achieved with the spring arrangement 15. This means that the spring arrangement 15 preloads the respective eccentric 16, so that the adjustable roller 8, 8a associated with the eccentric 16 is subjected to the predetermined force acting in the distance direction R2 against the associated guide body 5.For this purpose, the spring arrangement 15 is connected to an arm 23 of the respective eccentric 16 projecting transversely to the axis of rotation D, so that the respective eccentric 16 is preloaded.
[0058] According to the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, the system 1 in the embodiments shown has a device 18 with which the positions of the adjustable rollers 8, 8a in the spacing direction 2 can be fixed. The device 18 is also referred to below as locking device 18. The locking device 18 is designed to fix the positions in a Fig. 6, which is also referred to below as the locking position 19. In a further position of the locking device 18, not shown, the adjustable rollers 8, 8a are movable in the spacing direction R2 and thus adjustable, whereby this position is also referred to below as the release position. In the release position, the movement of the respective adjustable rollers 8, 8a in the spacing direction R2 is released, so that the adjustable roller 8, 8a is adjustable in the spacing direction R2 and is subjected to the force against the associated guide body 5. In contrast, in the locking position 19, the respective adjustable roller 8, 8a is fixed in the spacing direction R2.To adjust the adjustable rollers 8, 8a and thus compensate for the play described above, all that is required is to adjust the locking device 18 to the release position, whereupon, as described above, any play that may exist between the respective adjustable rollers 8, 8a and the associated guide body 5 is automatically compensated. Upon subsequent adjustment of the locking device 18 to the locking position 19, the state with the compensated play is retained / fixed, while at the same time, further mechanical application of the specified force to the adjustable rollers 8, 8a is blocked / interrupted. This allows the play to be compensated for particularly easily and with very little effort.
[0059] As a summary of the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6 and is explained in more detail below, in the exemplary embodiments shown, the locking device 18, in the release position, enables rotation of the respective eccentric 16 about the axis of rotation D, so that the associated adjustable roller 8, 8a is adjustable in the spacing direction R2 and is subjected to the force against the guide body 5. In contrast, in the locking position 19, the locking device 18 blocks rotation of the respective eccentric 16 about the axis of rotation D, so that the adjustable rollers 8, 8a are fixed in the spacing direction R2. This prevents the locking device 18 from having any direct effect on the adjustable rollers 8, 8a. As a result, corresponding damage to the adjustable rollers 8, 8a is avoided or at least reduced, so that a further increase in service life and improvement in precision during the service life are achieved.
[0060] In the illustrated embodiments, the locking device 18 comprises a clamping plate 20, which clamps the respective eccentric 16 against the carriage 2, in this case against the main body 9, in the locking position 19. Thus, the rotation of the respective eccentric 16 and consequently an adjustment of the adjustable rollers 8, 8a in the spacing direction R2 is prevented. In contrast, the clamping plate 20 releases this clamping in the release position, so that the respective eccentric 16 can rotate about the associated rotation axis D and the adjustable rollers 8, 8a are subjected to the predetermined force against the associated guide body 5. The clamping plate 20 is shown in FIG. Fig. 5 only with outlines or transparent and in Fig. 4 not shown.
[0061] The adjustment of the clamping plate 20 takes place in the embodiments shown by moving the clamping plate 20 along the rolling axes A and thus along the rotation axes D. For this purpose, the locking device 18 in the embodiments shown has at least one in particular in Fig. 5 visible screw 21, which mechanically presses the clamping plate 20 in the locking position 19 against the carriage 2, in the embodiments shown against the main body 9, and thus clamps the at least one eccentric 16 as explained.
[0062] For example, a summary of the Fig. 3 and Fig. 5, the at least one screw 21 in the embodiments shown is guided through the main body 9 and accessible via the support section 12. The screws 21 are, for example, Fig.3, in the exemplary embodiments shown, they are spaced from the receptacles 22. The respective screw 21 can therefore be screwed through the clamping plate 20 via the support section 12. As can also be seen from these figures, the locking device 18 in the exemplary embodiments shown has, purely by way of example, three such screws 21 which are evenly spaced from one another along the direction of movement R1. Thus, when the screws 21 are tightened, the clamping plate 20 is pulled evenly in the direction of the main body 9 and consequently the eccentrics 16 are clamped evenly against the main body 9. When the screws 21 are loosened, the said clamping is released, and the locking device 18 is therefore moved into the release position. QUOTES CONTAINED IN THE DESCRIPTION
