Abstract

The invention relates to a forming device (100) for manufacturing components, in particular for manufacturing sheet metal components, comprising a plunger element (104) movably arranged in a forming force direction (102), which is arranged and configured to exert a forming force in order to form a component by means of a forming insert, wherein the plunger element has a component side facing the component and a force application side facing away from the component side, a drive device (105) which is arranged and configured to exert drive forces on the plunger element (104) at at least two different force application positions of the force application side, and a control unit (138) coupled to the drive device (105) which is arranged and configured to adjust the drive forces at the at least two different force application positions.that deformation of the plunger element (104) during a forming process is reduced or avoided.
