AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing vehicle air conditioning systems in electric vehicles face challenges in maintaining efficient heating performance at low temperatures without increasing power consumption or causing frost formation on external heat exchangers, especially during pre-conditioning before occupant boarding.

Method used

A vehicle air conditioning apparatus that switches between hot gas heating and regular heat absorption heating, using a refrigerant circuit with a hot gas bypass to prevent frost formation by pre-selecting hot gas heating when connected to a charger, allowing efficient pre-conditioning without external heat absorption.

Benefits of technology

Prevents frost formation on external heat exchangers and ensures efficient air conditioning before and after occupant boarding by utilizing hot gas heating, reducing power consumption when connected to a charger.

Abstract

During the start of air conditioning before a passenger enters the vehicle, frost formation is prevented on an external heat exchanger section used to absorb heat from the outside air, so that both the air conditioning before the passenger enters the vehicle and the air conditioning after the passenger enters the vehicle can be carried out efficiently. A vehicle air conditioning device comprises a refrigerant circuit with a compressor, an internal heat exchanger section, and an external heat exchanger section, an air conditioning unit, inside which the internal heat exchanger section is arranged, and a control device that controls the refrigerant circuit and the air conditioning unit. The refrigerant circuit has a hot gas bypass that reduces the pressure of at least a portion of the refrigerant compressed in the compressor and returns it to the compressor.without passing through the internal heat exchanger section and the external heat exchanger section, wherein the control device can selectively carry out a heating operation including a heat absorption heating operation in which heat is absorbed from the outside air at the external heat exchanger section, and a hot gas heating operation in which the refrigerant in the external heat exchanger section does not absorb heat and a part of the refrigerant compressed in the compressor releases heat in the internal heat exchanger section, and selects the hot gas heating operation before a passenger gets into the vehicle while the vehicle is connected to a charging device.
