Abstract

Wheel container 1 for space-saving storage and safe transport of metal wheels for rail vehicles of all types, characterized in that the wheel container 1 is designed in one piece, robust, torsion-resistant and thus sustainable and fully recyclable.

Description

[0001] In rail transport on trains, trams, subways and other track systems, such as trolleys, the metal wheels are installed on the axles of the rail vehicles.

[0002] The metal wheels must be serviced and repaired at regular intervals.

[0003] According to current technology, they are placed on pallets for transport and storage and stacked on top of each other using spacer square timbers. These pallets cannot be stacked on top of each other and therefore require a lot of valuable storage space. Furthermore, with a carefully selected selection of wheels, the pallets must be restacked, which is time-consuming.

[0004] The wheel container 1 according to the invention offers decisive advantages during storage and transport. It is a robust, technically safe, and durable construction. All structural components have continuous and replaceable protective panels 2 on the surfaces facing the wheels. This prevents wheel damage.

[0005] When a wheel is placed in the wheel container 1, it is automatically centered by means of a recess 3 and secured with a tensioning belt device 4.

[0006] The wheel containers 1 can be moved and stacked using all types of transport equipment, such as pallet trucks and forklifts. Gantry and overhead cranes can also be used. Crane eyes 5 on the wheel container 1 are provided for this purpose.

[0007] The wheel containers 1 can be stacked several times on top of each other and therefore require much less storage space and are less expensive than with conventional storage.

[0008] During truck and rail transport, load safety is significantly increased by the wheel containers 1.

[2] Wheel container 1 according to claim 1, characterized by that all structural components on the surfaces facing the wheels have continuous and replaceable protective coverings 2. [3] Wheel container 1 according to claims 1 and 2, characterized by that the wheel container 1 has formations 3 which automatically center and fix the wheel when it is placed down. [4] Wheel container 1 according to claims 1 to 3, characterized by that the wheel container 1 has tensioning belt devices 4 for securing each stored wheel. [5] Wheel container 1 according to claims 1 to 4, characterized by that the wheel container has eyelets 5 for the use of cranes.
