Description

[0001] There are many different tools on the reloading accessories market for deburring sharp-edged and trimmed cartridge cases. Unfortunately, most of them deliver unsatisfactory results after deburring the cartridge cases. Either the burr wasn't removed cleanly or it was simply bent. This is because almost all tools don't "cut" but simply remove the burr by "scraping" or "rubbing." Furthermore, the time required to achieve a less than satisfactory result with such a "rubbing" or "scraping" tool is relatively high.

[0002] This invention is based on the problem of creating a tool that quickly, evenly, and residue-freely removes the burr on the outer cartridge case mouth of trimmed or sharp-edged calibrated cartridge cases with minimal effort. It is easy to handle, prevents operating errors, and is available to the general public among reloaders. Furthermore, this invention should be easy to retrofit as an accessory to most common case processing stations and all cordless screwdrivers, or to conventional screwdrivers with bit attachments, without any modifications.

[0003] The external deburrer is equipped with three standard indexable inserts that permanently ensure the cutting function. They are arranged at a 120° angle to each other, thus ensuring consistent and self-centering contact with the cutting edges. The indexable inserts are relatively inexpensive compared to their extremely long service life and can be rotated three times before needing to be replaced.

[0004] The external deburrer for cartridge cases is suitable for all calibers from .22 to .50.

[0005] Thanks to its innovative design, the external deburrer features an automatic chip ejection system that uses centrifugal force to expel chips outward or downward through openings behind and below the indexable inserts during operation. This prevents the indexable inserts from clogging. Chip ejection also improves with increasing speed.

[0006] An embodiment of the invention is described with reference to Fig. 1 to 3. It shows: Fig. 1: Assembling the external deburrer Fig. 2: Exploded view of the individual parts Fig. 3: Application with sleeve

[0007] This external deburrer, in Fig. 1, works both purely mechanically in conjunction with a screwdriver with bit attachment or electro-mechanically in conjunction with a cordless screwdriver or a sleeve processing station.

[0008] In Fig. Figure 2 shows the structure and assembly of the individual parts.

[0009] The external deburrer (1) can be made of plastic or metal. With the plastic version, the four threaded sleeves (2, 5) must be subsequently melted or injected as inserts using the plastic injection molding process. With the metal version, thread inserts are not necessary, as the threads are cut directly into the metal body. The three indexable inserts (6) are screwed into the designated thread inserts (5) using the three screws (7) or, in the metal version, into the threads.

[0010] The base body is recessed (8) so that the indexable inserts (6) can be automatically screwed in at the correct angle, preventing them from twisting during operation after installation. One of the two adapters (3, 4) can then be screwed into the base.

[0011] In Fig. Figure 3 shows an example section to explain the function during operation.

[0012] The uneven or sharp-edged trimmed sleeves (10) are pressed lightly and briefly from above onto the rotating indexable inserts (6), removing the burr quickly and cleanly. Upon first contact (11) of the sleeve (10) with the indexable inserts (6), it automatically centers itself via the 3-point support (11) at a 120° angle on the cutting edges of the indexable inserts (6), ensuring perfect guidance.

[0013] On average Fig. 3 shows the end position of the threaded insert (2) in the base body (1) and the adapters (3, 4) mounted therein.

[0014] Reference numeral (13) indicates the specially designed shape of the base body, which serves to eject chips. The arrow indicates the ejection direction.
