Device for filling salt in dishwashers

Abstract

Device for filling dishwashers with salt, characterized in that a hose (4, 10) is inserted with one end into the base of the dishwasher (1), while at the other end of the hose (4, 10) a funnel (6, 7) for filling the salt is attached.

Description

[0001] The present innovation concerns a device for filling the salt reservoir in dishwashers that have a closable opening at the bottom for receiving the salt. The salt must be added periodically to prevent damage to the dishwasher caused by limescale buildup. Since the filling opening is located at the bottom of the dishwasher, almost always at the very back, and the front door of the machine must be open to fill it, refilling the reservoir is extremely difficult for the operator, who must bend over considerably. This is particularly challenging for elderly people.

[0002] To avoid this awkward handling, the present innovation provides for a hose with one end inserted into the open filling opening in the base of the dishwasher, while the other end of the hose has a funnel for adding the salt. The salt is conveniently poured into the funnel and thus into the dishwasher.

[0003] The innovation also stipulates that the funnel is shaped like a standard package of salt. The opened package of salt is simply placed into the funnel.

[0004] Furthermore, the new design stipulates that the funnel and the salt packet are enclosed by an elastic band. This band securely holds the salt packet in the funnel, allowing for pouring without any salt loss.

[0005] To prevent the hose from slipping too far into the opening in the bottom of the dishwasher, the end of the hose is fitted with a depth limiter.

[0006] The innovation is explained in more detail below using two examples. They show Fig. 1. A schematic representation of part of the base with the filling opening and Fig. 2 a specially shaped funnel with a salt packet.

[0007] The dishwasher 1 has a closable opening 3 in its base 2 for receiving the salt. A hose 4 with a depth limiter 5 is inserted into the opening 3 to prevent the hose 4 from slipping too far into the opening 3. A funnel 6 is inserted at the top end, into which the salt is poured, thus reaching the opening 3.

[0008] The funnel holds 7 liters. Fig.2 is adapted to the standard salt packet 8. After opening, the packet is placed in the funnel 7 and securely attached to the funnel 7 by an elastic band 9. This allows the funnel 7 to be gripped with one hand and the salt to be poured in very easily. The hose 10 is attached to the funnel 7, so that by swiveling the funnel 7 with the salt packet 8, the salt can flow freely into the opening 3.

Claims

[1] Device for filling salt in dishwashers, characterized by that a hose (4, 10) is inserted at one end into the base of the dishwasher (1), while at the other end of the hose (4, 10) a funnel (6, 7) for filling the salt is attached. [2] Device according to claim 1, characterized by that the funnel (7) is adapted to the shape of a commercially available salt package. [3] Device according to claim 2, characterized in that the funnel (7) and the salt package (8) are enclosed by an elastic band (9). [4] Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the hose end is provided with a depth limiter (5).
