Abstract
Description
[0001] A device in the form of a hollow disc having a slippery inner coating containing triboelectric materials and a sliding material that uses multidirectional, low-frequency vibrations of ocean waves to generate electric current
[0002] The proposed device generates electrical energy through triboelectricity. Triboelectric material pairs exist in which one of the materials acquires a positive charge and the other a negative charge when rubbed against or pressed against another material. Additional information can be found in special tables showing empirical patterns regarding the electrical charges of materials in the triboelectric series.
[0003] Let's imagine a boat rocking on the waves. If there is water at the bottom of the boat, it flows along the bottom of the boat in sync with the waves that cause the boat to rock. This analogy roughly illustrates how the proposed device works.
[0004] The device resembles a hollow disc. The bottom of the disc is shaped like a deep bowl. Floats (buoys, floats) are located at the top and bottom center of the disc, allowing the disc to remain afloat on the ocean surface. The device is hermetically insulated from seawater. A multilayer coating is located inside the device at the bottom, symmetrically at the top (in case the device tips over), and on the side inner surface. This coating is a sandwich consisting of several layers. The layers used include triboelectric materials, conductive materials, materials with good sliding surfaces, and electrically insulating materials.
[0005] The first, outer layer of the sandwich forms a material with good sliding properties, such as Teflon. The second layer forms an electrically insulating material. The third layer forms a conductive material. It can be a conductive textile. The fourth layer forms a bumpy (hill-valley), elastic, triboelectric material located in the upper part of the triboelectric series. The bumpy relief of this material is in Fig. 1. The bumps are covered with an electrically insulating material. The fifth layer forms a triboelectric material from the lower part of the triboelectric series. This material acquires a negative charge upon interaction with the material from the fourth layer. The fourth and fifth layers form a triboelectric pair. As an example, bumpy polyurethane foam can be used for the fourth layer. The sixth layer is formed by a conductive material. The seventh layer consists of an electrically insulating material. Metal electrodes are connected to the conductive materials that form the third and sixth layers. These electrodes are used for connecting to other similar devices. The layers from the second to the seventh inclusive are protected from moisture and dust and are housed in a waterproof housing.
[0006] If no vertical pressure is applied to the triboelectric pair, the triboelectric materials are separated from each other due to the elasticity of the hillocks. Fig. 2, Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 shows the interaction of materials from a triboelectric pair.
[0007] Part of the free space in the hollow disc is filled with a lubricating medium. This is a material that can slide or flow over the inner surface of the disc during vibrations caused by ocean waves. At the macro level, the lubricating medium can be liquid (water, oil) or loose (sand, small pebbles, small metal balls).
[0008] The fluid medium is selected so that its properties do not change under the influence of temperature fluctuations at the device's installation location. The lubricant is selected so that its properties do not change under the influence of temperature fluctuations at the device's installation location.
[0009] The device oscillates in the waves. The lubricating medium moves from one side of the device to the other under the influence of ocean waves, exerting pressure on the inner surface of the device at various points. As a result of the pressure on triboelectric pairs, the contact separation interaction of triboelectric pairs occurs. Electric charges are exchanged between the materials of the triboelectric pair. A potential difference arises between these materials and also between the conductive media adjacent to them. If the corresponding conductive media are connected to a conductor, an electric current appears. Multiple layers of pairs of triboelectric materials can be used. In this case, a greater charge exchange will occur between the pairs. Combining pairs into a common circuit increases the electron exchange and thereby increases the current circulating in the common circuit.
[0010] The following method for combining layers is used: All conductive materials connected to positively charged triboelectric materials are connected in series. In addition, all conductive materials attached to triboelectric materials that receive a negative charge are also connected in series. The resulting two linear sequences of conductive materials are connected together, as shown in Fig. 5 shown.
[0011] In Fig. 6 shows the initial horizontal position of the disc. In Fig. 7 shows the rotation of the disk under the influence of ocean waves.
[0012] The proposed device is a standalone device for generating electrical energy. It requires no external support. The device contains no rotating, frictional parts that wear out quickly. Energy generation occurs through the elasticity of one of the triboelectric materials.
[0013] The device uses multidirectional, low-frequency vibrations caused by ocean waves. The size of the device can range from a few tens of centimeters to a few tens of meters. The larger the device, the more layers it uses and the more power it can generate. The device can be constructed from the same materials used to manufacture watercraft: boats, yachts, and small, low-tonnage vessels. Separate devices can be connected to the network to generate more energy. The device can be located autonomously in the open ocean and is used to support various types of marine activities: for lighting, as an offshore power plant, in rescue operations, for water desalination, or as an energy source.
[0014] The described method and device are implemented by the means listed in paragraphs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 requirements of the invention.
