Description

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a supplementary element for locally widening the covering side of a substructure profile, for example for terrace floors.

[0002] Terrace floors usually have a substructure. Decking elements are placed on top of this, forming the decking. The substructure typically comprises a multitude of elongated substructure profiles, which are spaced apart and run parallel to each other. As a result, the decking elements rest on the substructure profiles only over a certain area, or are supported by the substructure profiles via intermediate elements, at least only over a certain area.

[0003] In practice, it can therefore be observed time and again that the covering elements tip over, for example when a point force is exerted on them in an area that projects beyond the underlying substructure profile. If floorboards are used as the covering element, a yielding or tipping of the board can often be observed in the area of a long side end if the substructure profile supports the board well in front of the long side end. This situation usually occurs when a board length is longer than one board and another board is connected to the long side end of one board, forming a joint or butt. In many cases, at least one of the two boardlets then has a relatively large overhang from the nearest support point of the supporting substructure profile.

[0004] Against this background, there is a need to improve the support of the decking elements by the substructure. This is based on the expectation that improved support will reduce tipping or yielding of the decking element when a point force acts on the edge area of the decking element.

[0005] Fundamental improvements in this regard are offered by a supplementary element for widening the covering side of a substructure profile for floors, such as terrace floors, comprising a bottom side, a top side, two legs and an intermediate leg arranged between the two legs, which is connected to the two legs, wherein one of the legs has a support surface for placing on a substrate on a side facing the bottom side and a bearing surface for supporting a substructure profile on a side facing the top side, and the other leg has a support region for supporting a covering element on a side facing the top side, and wherein the support region lies in a plane which is raised relative to a plane with the bearing surface.

[0006] The supplementary element, thanks to its support surface, enables a piggyback arrangement with a substructure profile, whereby the support area of the supplementary element expands the support provided by the substructure profile for the decking element. Thus, the supplementary element can provide more support in the area of one substructure profile. An additional substructure profile can be eliminated.

[0007] In the present disclosure, the term "substructure profile" refers to a profile suitable for use as a component of a substructure, for example, for a floor covering. In the present disclosure, the term "profile" refers to an elongated component. Preferably, the elongated component has a consistent cross-sectional contour along its longitudinal extent.

[0008] In the present disclosure, the term “covering side” is understood to mean the side of a substructure profile which, in the case of a completed floor structure, faces the covering elements.

[0009] In this disclosure, the term "subsurface" refers to a soil or other base that has a counter surface corresponding to the support surface of the supplementary element. Therefore, the term "subsurface" also generally includes a counter surface of a pedestal support corresponding to the support surface of the supplementary element, which is also referred to in technical circles as a terrace support.

[0010] The proposed supplementary element can be designed such that a material thickening is present in a transition area between the intermediate leg and the leg containing the support area. This provides a measure to improve the durability and stability of the supplementary element, particularly with regard to potentially high forces acting on the supplementary element via the supporting covering element. The measure whereby the two legs are integrally formed on the intermediate leg also aims in this direction. In particular, the two legs and the intermediate leg are formed integrally with one another.

[0011] The proposed supplementary element can further be designed such that the intermediate leg has a boundary surface running transversely to at least one of the planes and, in particular, at least one through-hole penetrating the boundary surface for receiving a screw element or similar connecting element. This measure also aims to optimize the durability and stability of the supplementary element. Thanks to the boundary surface and the through-hole, the supplementary element offers the possibility of forming a stable connection with the associated substructure profile. In the assembled state, the supplementary element rests with its boundary surface against a side wall of the substructure profile and is screwed to it via the through-hole.

[0012] The proposed supplementary element can have an additional boundary surface, with the support surface being arranged between the additional boundary surface and the boundary surface of the intermediate leg. The additional boundary surface preferably protrudes from the side of one leg having the support surface to the top side. In particular, the additional boundary surface protrudes outward from the leg having the support surface to the top side. Thus, the boundary surface of the intermediate leg and the additional boundary surface can serve as lateral boundaries for a substructure profile placed on the support surface.

[0013] This makes it easier for the user to assemble the add-on element with the substructure profile, as the boundary surfaces provide a positioning aid when resting the substructure profile on the support surface of the add-on element. The boundary surfaces also promote a stable arrangement of the two components relative to each other when the add-on element is assembled with the substructure profile.

[0014] The proposed supplementary element can be designed such that at least one of the boundary surfaces is arranged on a material section designed as a snap-in element, and the snap-in element has a joining side, which preferably faces the other boundary surface, in order to form a snap connection with a side wall of a received substructure profile. Preferably, the snap-in element is configured to form a snap connection with the substructure profile such that the substructure profile is secured against detachment from the supplementary element in the direction of a normal to the support surface. For this purpose, the at least one snap-in element can have a locking edge that runs parallel or substantially parallel to the extension of the support surface.

[0015] The measure that, according to one embodiment, the boundary surfaces are each arranged on a material section designed as a snap element and the snap elements have joining sides facing each other in order to form a snap connection on both sides against the side walls of a received substructure profile also aims in this direction.

[0016] The proposed supplementary element can further be designed such that at least a part or a surface section of the support surface is formed on a raised portion of the associated leg. The raised portion can improve the flexural rigidity of the associated leg. The outer side of the raised portion, facing outward or toward the top, can also serve as a support surface for an attached substructure profile.

[0017] The proposed supplementary element can further be designed such that, viewed in the direction of an axis, in particular a longitudinal axis, the two legs, in particular in the direction of their longitudinal extent, and the intermediate leg are arranged one behind the other, in particular in a row. It is advisable for the proposed supplementary element to have at least one groove or other elongated recess in the support area, with its longitudinal extent extending transversely to the axis. As a result, the alignment of an intermediate element supported thereon between a covering element and the support area is displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the substructure profile if the intermediate element has a projection engaging in the at least one groove or recess.

[0018] The proposed supplementary element can be a plastic part and, for example, comprise or consist of a plastic material, in particular a polymer. In principle, the proposed supplementary element can also be a metal part and, for example, comprise or consist of a metallic material. For example, the proposed supplementary element is an extruded part.

[0019] According to one aspect, an arrangement comprising the above-described supplementary element and a substructure profile is proposed. The substructure profile is suitable, for example, for forming a substructure for a floor, in particular a patio floor.

[0020] In the proposed arrangement, the substructure profile rests on the support surface of the supplementary element and / or the raised portion of the supplementary element. In particular, the substructure profile extends transversely, particularly orthogonally, to the axis or longitudinal axis of the supplementary element. In this arrangement, the supplementary element can also already be placed on a substrate with its support surface.

[0021] For example, the substructure profile has a covering side with a support structure for supporting a covering element or an intermediate element on which a covering element is or can be placed. The proposed arrangement can be designed such that the support area of the supplementary element forms a supplementary support structure that runs or is present laterally over a length section of the substructure profile. The proposed arrangement can further be designed such that the support structure of the substructure profile and the support area of the supplementary element lie in a common plane or are each located in a plane that is offset parallel to one another.

[0022] In the proposed arrangement, the supplementary element can be screwed to the substructure profile with a screw element. For example, the through hole of the supplementary element is used for this purpose. This counteracts any yielding of the support area of the supplementary element, since the screw connection secures the supplementary element, in particular the intermediate section of the supplementary element, to the substructure profile. In this respect, an improved support effect is achieved by the supplementary element.

[0023] According to a further aspect, a floor, in particular a patio floor, is proposed. The floor comprises a plurality of parallel and spaced-apart substructure profiles and a plurality of parallel planks arranged on the substructure profiles and extending transversely thereto. The floor comprises at least one supplementary element of the type described above, wherein one of the substructure profiles is placed on the support surface of the supplementary element.

[0024] In the proposed floor, the supplementary element can be arranged in the area of one of the planks to which another plank is connected at a long end, forming a joint or butt joint. In this case, one plank can be supported on one substructure profile in the area of one long end, and the other plank can be supported on the supplementary element. One plank can be supported on the substructure profile directly or via an intermediate element. Likewise, the other plank can be supported on the supplementary element directly or via an intermediate element.

[0025] Further details and features will become apparent from the following description of several embodiments based on the drawings. Fig. 1 an exemplary embodiment of a supplementary element for locally widening the covering side of a substructure profile in a perspective view, Fig. 2 the exemplary supplementary element of the Fig. 1 in a different perspective view, Fig. 3a to Fig. 3c Assembly states during assembly of the exemplary supplementary element of the Fig. 1 to an exemplary substructure profile, each in a perspective view, Fig. 4 a section of a first exemplary floor structure with the exemplary supplementary element of the Fig. 1, and Fig. 5 a section of a second exemplary floor structure with the exemplary supplementary element of the Fig. 1.

[0026] Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 show - in a schematic representation - an exemplary embodiment of a supplementary element 1, which is used for the local widening of the covering side of a (in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 (not shown). The substructure profile can be used to form a substructure for a floor, particularly a patio floor.

[0027] The exemplary supplementary element 1 has a bottom side 2 and a top side 3 preferably opposite thereto. The terms “bottom side” and “top side” are used here in particular to define reference sides of the exemplary supplementary element 1, in particular without bindingly specifying a position in space.

[0028] The exemplary supplementary element 1 has two preferably elongated legs 10, 20 and an intermediate leg 30 arranged therebetween. For example, viewed in the direction of an axis A, the two legs 10, 20 and the intermediate leg 30 are arranged one behind the other, in particular arranged one behind the other in a row.

[0029] For example, the exemplary supplementary element 1 has a longitudinal extension in the direction of axis A. The axis A is then a longitudinal axis. For example, at least one of the two legs 10, 20 extends with its longitudinal extension in the direction of axis A. The two legs 10, 20 can also extend with their respective longitudinal extension in the direction of axis A.

[0030] For example, the intermediate leg 30 is connected to the two legs 10, 20. For example, at least one of the two legs 10, 20 is connected to the intermediate leg 30 at a longitudinal end. The two legs 10, 20 can also each be connected to the intermediate leg 30 at a longitudinal end.

[0031] For example, the two legs 10, 20 are integrally formed on the intermediate leg 30. For example, the exemplary supplementary element 1 is a plastic part that comprises or consists of a plastic material, such as a polymer. For example, the two legs 10, 20 and the intermediate leg are integrally molded or pressed from plastic.

[0032] In the exemplary supplementary element 1, one of the legs 10, 20, in particular the leg 10, has on a side facing the underside 2 a contact surface 11 for contact with a (in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2) substrate. For example, the support surface 11 is flat or at least extends over a flat section.

[0033] Preferably, one leg 10 further has a support surface 12 for supporting a (in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2) substructure profile thereon. At least part of the support surface 12 can be formed on a raised portion 14 of one leg 10. For example, the support surface 12 is flat or extends at least over a flat portion. For example, the support surface 12 is arranged parallel to the contact surface 11.

[0034] In the exemplary supplementary element 1, the other leg 20 has a support area 21 on a side facing the upper side 3 for supporting at least one (in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2) covering element. The support region 21 can have a support surface 21.1. At least one groove or elongated recess 22 can also be provided in the support region 21. For example, the groove or recess 22 extends transversely, in particular orthogonally, to the axis A.

[0035] The support area 21 preferably lies in a plane that is raised relative to a plane containing the support surface 11. This allows the leg 10 having the support surface 11 to be used as a support under the substructure profile, whereby the raised support area 21 can be used as an additional support to the substructure profile for one or more covering elements. For example, the two planes are offset from one another or are parallel to one another. For example, the support surface 21.1 is flat or extends at least over a flat section.

[0036] In order to achieve sufficient stability for a high load-bearing capacity in the exemplary supplementary element 1, a material thickening 4 is provided, for example, in a transition region between the intermediate leg 30 and the leg 20 having the support region 21. The material thickening 4 preferably extends over at least a longitudinal section in a transverse direction, in particular orthogonal to the axis A.

[0037] For stability reasons, the exemplary supplementary element 1 is provided with a through hole 32, for example, which is used to accommodate a (in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 not shown) screw element or the like, for example in order to be able to fasten the exemplary supplementary element 1 to the substructure profile.

[0038] For example, the through-hole 32 is provided on a boundary surface 31 of the intermediate leg 30. For example, the boundary surface 31 extends transversely, in particular orthogonally to the planes and / or transversely, in particular orthogonally, to the contact surface 11 and / or the bearing surface 12 and / or the support surface 21.1. For example, the legs 10, 20 and the intermediate leg 30 form a substantially Z-shaped contour. For example, at least one of the legs 10, 20 and the intermediate leg 30 forms an L-shaped contour. For example, the legs 10, 20 each extend transversely, in particular orthogonally, to the intermediate leg 30.

[0039] For example, the exemplary supplementary element 1 has a further boundary surface 13. For example, the further boundary surface 13 projects from the side of the associated leg 10 having the support surface 12 to the upper side 3. For example, the support surface 12 is arranged between the further boundary surface 13 and the boundary surface 31 of the intermediate leg 30.

[0040] For example, at least one of the boundary surfaces 13, 31 is arranged on a material section 15 or 33 designed as a snap element 5. For example, the snap element 5 has a joining side which faces the other boundary surface 13 or 31 in order to bear against a side wall of a (in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 not shown) substructure profile to form a snap connection.

[0041] In principle, both boundary surfaces 13, 31 can also be arranged on a material section 15 or 33 designed as a snap-in element 5. In this case, it is advisable for the snap-in elements 5 to have joining sides facing each other in order to form a snap connection on both sides against the side walls of the substructure profile.

[0042] For example, the at least one snap element 5 has a locking edge 6, which is formed, for example, on a locking lug 7. The locking edge 6 is preferably elongated and extends with its longitudinal extent in a transverse direction, in particular orthogonal to the axis A. The at least one snap element 5 can form a snap connection with the substructure profile in order to secure the substructure profile relative to the exemplary supplementary element 1 against loosening in the direction of the normal to the support surface 12.

[0043] Fig. 3a to 3c show exemplary assembly states during the installation of the exemplary supplementary element 1 on an exemplary substructure profile 100. The exemplary substructure profile 100 may be a substructure profile described as a substructure strip in the document DE 10 2018 127 006 A1. Reference is made to this document for the purpose of completing and supplementing the present disclosure, with the note that the document may assign a meaning to identical terms that differs from the present meaning.

[0044] The exemplary substructure profile 100 is preferably elongated. The exemplary substructure profile 100 preferably has a constant or substantially constant cross-sectional contour in the direction of its longitudinal extent. The exemplary substructure profile 100 is preferably a metallic component, in particular an aluminum component. For example, the exemplary substructure profile 100 is an extruded profile.

[0045] The exemplary substructure profile 100 preferably has a covering side 110. This is to be understood in particular as the side which, in the assembled state of a floor structure, faces the covering elements of the floor structure. Preferably, the exemplary substructure profile 100 has a support structure 111 on its covering side for supporting a (in the Fig. 3a to 3c not shown) or a covering element (in the Fig. 3a to 3c not shown) on which a covering element is or can be placed.

[0046] For example, the exemplary substructure profile 100 has opposing side walls 120, 130. For example, the side walls 120, 130 preferably extend transversely, in particular orthogonally, with their respective outer sides to the covering side 110. For example, at least one of the side walls 120, 130 has, for example on its outer side, a locking structure that can be used as a counter-locking structure 140 for the snap-in element 5 of the exemplary supplementary element 1. For example, the locking structure comprises a locking lug with a locking edge 180, which preferably extends in the longitudinal direction of the exemplary substructure profile 100.

[0047] For example, the exemplary substructure profile 100 has an at least partially U-shaped cross-section. For example, the U-shaped cross-section comprises two legs 150, 160 extending from a closed side 170 to an open side, wherein the closed side 170 faces the covering side 110 or forms the covering side 110.

[0048] The exemplary substructure profile 100 can have a hollow structure, which, for example, has a cavity 190 extending in the longitudinal direction of the exemplary substructure profile 100. The cavity 190 can be delimited on the one hand by the covering side 110 and on the other hand by the closed side 170. For example, the cavity 190 is laterally delimited by the side walls 120, 130. The cavity 190 can also have at least one reinforcing rib 191, in particular, can be divided by at least one reinforcing rib 191.

[0049] When assembling the exemplary supplementary element 1 with the exemplary substructure profile 100, the following procedure can be followed: The exemplary supplementary element 1 with its leg 10 having the support surface 12 is brought into the area of the legs 150, 160 of the exemplary substructure profile 100 and the one boundary surface 31 of the exemplary supplementary element 1 is brought into contact with one of the side walls 120, 130 of the exemplary substructure profile 100. This is shown, for example, in the Fig. 3a. For example, the snap element 5 of the exemplary supplementary element 1 is brought into contact with the counter-locking structure 140 of the exemplary substructure profile 100 of one side wall 130.

[0050] If the exemplary supplementary element 1 has the further boundary surface 31 with the further material section 33, the exemplary supplementary element 1 is then brought with its further boundary surface 31 into contact with the other side wall 120 of the exemplary substructure profile 100 ( Fig. 3b), so that, for example, the snap element 5 associated with the further material section 33 snaps against the counter-locking structure 140 of the other side wall 120 of the exemplary substructure profile 100.

[0051] Preferably, the exemplary supplementary element 1 is then screwed to the exemplary substructure profile 100 with a screw element 50 via its through hole 33. The screw element 50 engages in one side wall 130 of the exemplary substructure profile 100 and rests with its head on the intermediate leg 30 of the exemplary supplementary element 1.

[0052] In the assembled state, the exemplary substructure profile 100 is placed on the support surface 12 of the exemplary supplementary element 1. Preferably, the material sections 15, 33 of the exemplary supplementary element 1, with their respective snap-in elements 5, form a snap-in connection with the associated counter-locking structure 140 of the respective side walls 120, 130 of the exemplary substructure profile 100, whereby the exemplary substructure profile 100 is secured against detachment from the exemplary supplementary element 1 in the orthogonal direction of the support surface 12. The screw element 50 additionally secures the exemplary supplementary element 1 to the exemplary substructure profile 100.

[0053] In the assembled state, the arrangement of the exemplary supplementary element 1 and the exemplary substructure profile 100 is placed, for example, on a substrate U ( Fig. 3c). The mounting on the substrate U can be carried out before screwing using the screw element 50.

[0054] As can be seen in particular from the Fig. As can be seen in Figure 3c, in the assembled state of the exemplary supplementary element 1, the support region 21 of the exemplary supplementary element 1 is positioned such that the support region 21 forms a supplementary support structure that is laterally disposed over a length section of the exemplary substructure profile 100. For example, the support structure 101 of the exemplary substructure profile 100 and the support region 21 of the exemplary supplementary element 1 are located in a common plane or in two planes offset parallel to one another.

[0055] Fig. Figure 4 shows a section of a possible floor structure of a floor 300, such as a patio floor. Such a floor 300 can comprise a plurality of substructure profiles, preferably arranged parallel and spaced apart from one another, as well as a plurality of covering elements, preferably arranged parallel to one another and designed, for example, as planks, which are arranged on the substructure profiles and extend transversely, in particular orthogonally, thereto.

[0056] In the Fig. 4 shows an example of a substructure profile, which is the substructure profile 100 of the Fig. 3a to 3b. Of the flooring elements designed as planks, Fig. 4 shows two exemplary covering elements 200, 210. The floor 300 is provided with several supplementary elements in the manner of the exemplary supplementary element 1. As an example, Fig. 4 shows that the substructure profile 100 is placed on at least one, preferably several of the supplementary elements 1, for example in the arrangement of the Fig. 3c.

[0057] The at least one supplementary element 1 is arranged in the region of one of the covering elements 200, 210, to which a further plank 200' is connected at a longitudinal end 201, forming a joint or a butt, wherein the one plank 200 is supported in the region of the one longitudinal end 201 on the one substructure profile 100 and the further plank 200' is supported on the at least one supplementary element 1. In the Fig. 4, for example, the support of the additional plank 200' takes place on the two additional elements 1.

[0058] At the floor 300 of the Fig. 4, the covering elements 200, 210 have longitudinal recesses 211, in particular grooves, on their front longitudinal sides. The covering elements 200, 210 are attached to the substructure profile 100 or the at least one supplementary element 1 via corresponding intermediate elements 250, wherein the intermediate elements 250 each engage in the corresponding longitudinal recess 211 or groove.

[0059] Fig. 5 shows, by way of example, a section of another possible floor structure of a floor 300', such as a patio floor. This floor 300' is described, for example, in the document DE 10 2023 104 012 A1, to which reference is hereby made for the purpose of completing and supplementing the present disclosure, with the note that the document may assign a meaning to identical terms that differs from the present meaning.

[0060] The floor 300' can, like the floor 300 of the Fig. 4, have a plurality of preferably parallel and spaced-apart substructure profiles. The floor 300' can furthermore, like the floor 300 of Fig. 4, have a plurality of covering elements which are preferably arranged parallel to one another and are designed, for example, as planks, which are arranged on the substructure profiles and run transversely, in particular orthogonally, thereto.

[0061] In the Fig. 5 shows an example of a substructure profile 100.1. Of the flooring elements designed as planks, Fig. 5 shows two exemplary covering elements 200.1, 210.1. The floor 300' is provided with several supplementary elements similar to the exemplary supplementary element 1. As an example, Fig. 5 shows that the substructure profile 100.1 is placed on at least one, preferably several, of the supplementary elements 1, for example in the arrangement of the Fig. 3c.

[0062] The at least one supplementary element 1 is arranged in the region of one of the covering elements 200.1, 210.1, to which a further plank 200.1' is connected at a longitudinal end 201.1, forming a joint, wherein the one plank 200.1 is supported on the one substructure profile 100.1 in the region of the one longitudinal end 201.1 and the further plank 200.1' is supported on the at least one supplementary element 1.

[0063] At the bottom 300' of the Fig. 5, the covering elements 200.1, 210.1 have underlying recesses 211.1, in particular grooves, on their surface sides. The covering elements 200.1, 210.1 are attached to the substructure profile 100.1 or the at least one supplementary element 1 via corresponding intermediate elements 250.1, with the intermediate elements 250.1 each engaging in the corresponding underlying recess 211.1 or groove.
