Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a covering device for preventing or reducing unwanted plant growth, particularly on traffic elements. Various traffic elements, such as road signs and delineators, are known from the prior art. These are sometimes arranged along the side of a lane in grass or a meadow, or on other organic ground.

[0002] Especially in the dark, guide posts, crash barriers and traffic signs with illuminated reflectors ensure safe traffic.

[0003] The problem here is that unwanted vegetation often forms around these traffic elements, especially around their posts, and this vegetation also climbs up the respective element, such as a delineator post. This can lead to particularly dangerous situations when safety devices such as reflectors become covered by uncontrolled growth. Maintaining such traffic elements is complex, as the use of herbicides is now prohibited in many cities and municipalities.

[0004] Various approaches are known in the art to prevent this uncontrolled growth. For example, plastic elements are known that are arranged in a disc-like manner around the traffic element or its posts. The disadvantage of these elements is that they are not sustainable and therefore have to be made of plastic.

[0005] In addition, it is known from the state of the art to use herbicides or chemical plant killers to prevent this uncontrolled growth. It is also known to use foams to suffocate these plants.

[0006] However, these practices are also unsustainable, as they require the use of chemicals. It is also known to destroy such plants at regular intervals, for example, by burning or similar methods. However, this involves considerable labor.

[0007] The present invention is therefore based on the object of creating a sustainable device that prevents this unwanted plant growth. Preferably, the use of non-biodegradable or difficult-to-biodegrade materials should be avoided.

[0008] This is achieved according to the invention by the subject matter of the independent patent claims. Advantageous embodiments and further developments are the subject matter of the dependent claims.

[0009] A covering device according to the invention for preventing or reducing unwanted plant growth on traffic elements, trees, or posts comprises a base body that extends in a longitudinal direction, in a width direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, and in a thickness direction or height direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and the width direction. The base body comprises or consists of soil.

[0010] Preferably, the thickness direction runs parallel to a longitudinal direction of a post of the traffic element.

[0011] Furthermore, when arranged on the traffic element, the base body has an upper side and a lower side opposite the upper side. This upper side and the lower side thus preferably extend in the longitudinal and width directions. Furthermore, the base body has a planting with at least one predetermined plant species.

[0012] According to the invention, the covering device, when mounted or arranged on the traffic element, has an opening which is preferably completely surrounded by soil and through which a section of the traffic element, and in particular a section of the traffic element extending in the thickness direction, extends. Furthermore, the plant genus is a plant genus that does not grow, or does not grow significantly, in the thickness direction.

[0013] Therefore, within the scope of the invention, it is proposed that a plant element be provided which comprises soil and preferably at least one plant species planted in the soil. This plant species is, in particular, selected such that it does not grow vertically itself.

[0014] Particularly preferably, the extension of the covering device in the longitudinal and width directions is substantially greater than in the thickness direction. The covering device is preferably a renewable natural product. The covering device is preferably designed in the form of a covering mat.

[0015] The natural growth of the covering device into the ground prevents damage to the mowers of machines used to work the soil around the respective traffic elements.

[0016] In addition, the covering device blends into the natural environment through its natural growth.

[0017] In addition, the covering device according to the invention is permanently maintenance-free or low-maintenance. Repair and maintenance work required in the prior art are reduced to a minimum.

[0018] The covering device according to the invention is therefore a purely organic product. It can be grown locally, e.g., in Germany, and it can also be stored close to the site of use. It is also possible to carry out the cultivation in conventional nurseries, since the cultivation of a specific plant variety requires no special knowledge. This allows for short transport routes to the customer. Installing the covering device along traffic elements is also very simple. Significant time savings can be achieved in management.

[0019] However, this covering device will preferably kill or suffocate plants underneath, preventing them from growing vertically. By selecting the appropriate plant species, it will also be possible to prevent plants underneath from growing through the covering device.

[0020] Preferably, the base, made of soil, is flexible at least in sections. This allows it to adapt to the unevenness of the plants underneath.

[0021] In a further preferred embodiment, the plant genus is selected from a group of plant genera which includes Houseleek (“Bronze Pastel”, reddish-tinged leaves, pink flowers in summer, growing at a height of 10-15 cm), Houseleek (“Silver Carnelian”, silvery-spun leaf rosettes, purple flowers from June to July), Cobweb Rockrose (“Rheinkiesel”, blue-green ciliate leaves, pink summer flowers, growing at a height of 5-10 cm), Richly Flowering Stonecrop (“Weihenstephaner Gold”, growing at a height of 10-20 cm), Bunched Stonecrop (“Variegatum”, white-edged leaves, orange-yellow flowers in July and August, growing at a height of 10-20 cm), Carpet Fieldleaf (“Purple Carpet”, dark red, round-shaped foliage, purple-red summer flowers, growing at a height of 10-20 cm), Pachysandra terminalis, yellow fairy flower (Epidemium x perralchium), carpet goldberry (Waldsteinia ternata), (wintergreen) and the like.

[0022] The Ysander genus is also known as "Thick-man" or "Shadow Green." It forms dense green carpets in the shade under trees, through which no weeds can penetrate. Furthermore, it grows in all humus-rich, moderately dry, not too acidic garden soils and tolerates covering with autumn leaves. This genus requires a few years to become well-established and form its first runners. This genus is preferably planted at a density of about 15 plants per square meter. The 'Green Carpet' variety is particularly recommended: At 15 to 20 centimeters, it stays somewhat smaller than the general species, is very frost-hardy, and bears fresh green foliage.

[0023] The genus "yellow fairy flower" (Epidemium x perralchium) is also known as wintergreen and produces small yellow flowers from April to May. It grows primarily in partial shade or shade and thrives in humus-rich, dry soil. It is best planted at a density of 6-14 flowers / m². 2 , preferably a density of 8 - 12 pieces / m 2 and particularly preferably with a density of 9 - 11 pieces / m 2 used.

[0024] The "Carpet Goldberry" (Waldsteinia ternata) plant species prefers a shady to partially shady location and soil that is not too dry. It is best planted at a density of at least 12 plants / m². 2 used.

[0025] The selected plant species should meet various criteria. For example, they should be plants that do not grow significantly tall themselves. They should also be a plant species that prefers shallow roots. Furthermore, they should be a plant species that is adapted to the local climatic conditions (or the climatic conditions of the site in general) and, in particular, resistant to ice or low temperatures.

[0026] The covering device according to the invention prevents unwanted plants from growing upwards around the traffic element, such as a delineator post. Therefore, any processing of the delineator post is not necessary.

[0027] In addition, a plant genus is preferably selected that can cope with normal rainfall.

[0028] In a further preferred embodiment, the plant genus is an evergreen plant genus.

[0029] Particularly preferred is the plant genus that is drought-resistant.

[0030] In another preferred embodiment, the plant genus is a salt-tolerant plant genus. This allows the plants to withstand salt spreading, especially in winter.

[0031] In a preferred embodiment, a planting density in which the plant genus is arranged in the base body is greater than 3 plants / m 2 , preferably larger than 5 pieces / m 2 , preferably 7 pieces / m 2 , preferably larger than 9 pieces / m 2 , preferably larger than 10 pieces / m 2 .

[0032] In a further preferred embodiment, a planting density in which the plant genus is arranged in the base body is less than 40 pieces / m 2 , preferably less than 35 pieces / m 2 , preferably less than 30 pieces / m 2 and particularly preferably less than 25 pieces / m 2 .

[0033] The applicant has found that, on the one hand, a certain density of planting is required, but, on the other hand, this density should not be too high in order to avoid mutual interference between the individual plantings.

[0034] In a further preferred embodiment, the covering device has a thickness in the thickness direction which is greater than 2 cm, preferably greater than 3 cm, preferably greater than 4 cm, preferably greater than 5 cm.

[0035] In a further preferred embodiment, the covering device has a thickness in the thickness direction which is less than 40 cm, preferably less than 35 cm, preferably less than 30 cm, preferably less than 25 cm and particularly preferably less than 20 cm.

[0036] This thickness is chosen, on the one hand, so that the covering device does not protrude too significantly from the surroundings, and, on the other hand, is thick enough so that the plant material or plant used can establish itself solidly and permanently in the covering device, whereby this should be possible in particular without additional processing, for example watering or care.

[0037] In a further preferred embodiment, the covering device has an extension in the longitudinal direction which is greater than 10 cm, preferably greater than 15 cm, preferably greater than 20 cm and preferably greater than 25 cm.

[0038] In a further preferred embodiment, the covering device has a length in the longitudinal direction which is less than 150 cm, preferably less than 120 cm, preferably less than 100 cm, preferably less than 80 cm and particularly preferably less than 60 cm.

[0039] Preferably, the covering device has an extension in the width direction which is greater than 10 cm, preferably greater than 15 cm, preferably greater than 20 cm and preferably greater than 25 cm.

[0040] Particularly preferably, the covering device has an extension in the width direction which is less than 150 cm, preferably less than 120 cm, preferably less than 100 cm, preferably less than 80 cm and particularly preferably less than 60 cm.

[0041] These dimensions in the longitudinal direction and in the width direction are preferably selected on the one hand so that effective protection against ascending or climbing plants is achieved and on the other hand so that the area can be kept at a cost-effective level.

[0042] The opening preferably has a cross-section that is larger than 3 cm, preferably larger than 4 cm, preferably larger than 5 cm, and preferably larger than 6 cm. The opening preferably has a cross-section that is smaller than 40 cm, preferably smaller than 30 cm, preferably smaller than 25 cm, and particularly preferably smaller than 20 cm.

[0043] Particularly preferably, the covering device as a whole has a substantially cuboid shape, whereby unevenness caused by vegetation on the one hand and unevenness caused by root systems on the other hand are not taken into account. The opening, which is cuboid in shape, is also not taken into account in this assessment.

[0044] In a further preferred embodiment, the covering device comprises a base plate or a base element. A base element or a base plate is particularly preferably arranged on the underside of the base body.

[0045] In a preferred embodiment, this base plate consists of or comprises a biodegradable material. In particular, this base plate consists of or comprises a paper, and in particular a fiber paper.

[0046] In a further preferred embodiment, the base plate has a longitudinal extension that is greater than 400 mm, preferably greater than 500 mm, preferably greater than 600 mm, and preferably greater than 700 mm. Particularly preferably, the base plate has a longitudinal extension that is less than 1100 mm, preferably less than 1000 mm, preferably less than 900 mm, and particularly preferably less than 850 mm.

[0047] Preferably, the base plate or base element has an extension in the width direction that is greater than 150 mm, preferably greater than 200 mm, preferably greater than 250 mm, preferably greater than 300 mm. Preferably, the base plate or base element has an extension in the width direction that is less than 700 mm, preferably less than 600 mm, preferably less than 500 mm, and particularly preferably less than 450 mm.

[0048] Preferably, the base plate or the base element has an extension in the height or thickness direction that is greater than 10 mm, preferably greater than 15 mm, and preferably greater than 20 mm. Preferably, the base plate or the base element has an extension in the thickness direction that is less than 70 mm, preferably less than 60 mm, preferably less than 50 mm, preferably less than 40 mm, and particularly preferably less than 30 mm.

[0049] One function of the base plate is to prevent further plant growth below it. It also promotes the growth of the desired plants.

[0050] The base plate preferably has at least one notch. A material can be fed through this notch. This notch is preferably arranged in a plane that extends in the longitudinal and width directions.

[0051] In a further preferred embodiment, a fertilizer is arranged in the base plate. In particular, this can be a biodegradable fertilizer. Particularly preferably, soil, and in particular plant soil, is arranged in the base plate. Particularly preferably, the fertilizer or fertilizers are horn shavings. Particularly preferably, the above-mentioned base body is placed on this base plate or base element and preferably arranged on it.

[0052] The base plate in question is preferably used to cover the existing vegetation and preferably also serves as a planting base.

[0053] Particularly preferably, the base plate and the base body are of identical design or have individual sockets and preferably projections, so that the base plate and the base body can be connected to one another and, in particular, inserted into one another. For example, the base plate can have a plurality of projections that engage in complementary recesses in the base body. In this way, the hold between the base plate and the base body is improved.

[0054] In this way, targeted or area-oriented application is possible and planting of larger areas is also possible.

[0055] The active roots of the base body preferentially seek a path through the planting soil of the base body, and especially through the aforementioned incisions in the base plate. This way, a dense and low-growing carpet of plants can be achieved.

[0056] Preferably, the material of the base plate or base element is designed in such a way that it decomposes completely according to the type and condition of the soil and the natural influences.

[0057] In a further preferred embodiment, the covering device has a substantially rectangular cross-section and preferably a square cross-section. This cross-section is considered in the thickness direction. The advantage of a rectangular or square cross-section is that it is possible to cut a large number of individual covering devices from a large area with essentially no loss. However, it would also be possible for the covering device to have a round cross-section, for example, if it is to be used as a border for trees.

[0058] For example, an area of 10x10 m can be uniformly planted, and then a large number of cover structures can be cut out of this large area with essentially no loss. Other geometric shapes, such as hexagons, are also conceivable. However, the use of rectangles offers the advantage of allowing straight cuts in mutually perpendicular directions to obtain the individual cover structures.

[0059] In another preferred embodiment, the opening is prefabricated. This means that an opening is already prefabricated in the covering device, which corresponds to the cross-section of the object to be passed through, or is, for example, slightly smaller or larger. In addition, it is also possible to insert this opening when the object, i.e., the traffic element, is actually installed.

[0060] In a further preferred embodiment, the planting is arranged substantially uniformly across the top. This can be achieved by uniform seeding and also by selecting the appropriate plant species.

[0061] In another preferred embodiment, a root system of the planting is arranged on the underside of the base body. This means that the planting is selected in such a way that it rests against the underside of the soil body, thereby creating a high level of stability.

[0062] In a further preferred embodiment, a layered element made of compostable garden fleece is or will be arranged on the underside. This compostable garden fleece prevents existing plants from penetrating it. During a predetermined period of time, for example, the first year, the plant(s) of the base body feed on the substrate disc, i.e., the base body. Over time, this garden fleece and the substrate decompose, allowing the plant species to establish deeper roots. During this time, these plantings also reach a density that makes it virtually impossible for other weeds to thrive.

[0063] This plant genus preferentially exhibits shallow, spreading roots. These roots primarily cover the underside of the base body. These roots also contribute to or enhance the stability of the covering structure as a whole.

[0064] In a further preferred embodiment, the opening has a geometric shape that is adapted to the geometric shape of a post section of the traffic element. In this way, the traffic element or its post can preferably be inserted into the base body essentially without gaps or openings.

[0065] In a further preferred embodiment, the traffic element is selected from a group of traffic elements that includes traffic signs, traffic lights, delineators, and the like. These are preferably traffic elements that are embedded in biological material, for example, lawns or the like.

[0066] In a further preferred embodiment, the covering device is designed to be plastic-free and / or metal-free.

[0067] In a further preferred embodiment, the covering device comprises exclusively biological and / or organic and / or biodegradable material.

[0068] The present invention further relates to a manufacturing device for producing a covering device for preventing or reducing unwanted plant growth on traffic elements and in particular for producing the above-mentioned covering device.

[0069] This production device comprises a receiving device for receiving soil, wherein the receiving device has a flat base or receiving surface onto which soil of a predetermined thickness can be applied in a direction perpendicular to the receiving surface. This receiving surface preferably has a border so that a certain amount of soil can be applied to the receiving surface.

[0070] In addition, the manufacturing device comprises at least one first punching or cutting device which is suitable for severing the soil along a predetermined first straight line (and preferably completely in the thickness direction).

[0071] In addition, the manufacturing device preferably comprises a second punching or cutting device which is suitable for severing the soil along a second predetermined straight line (and preferably completely in the thickness direction).

[0072] The first and second lines intersect and are particularly perpendicular to each other.

[0073] With regard to the manufacturing device, it is initially assumed that soil is placed in a certain thickness, particularly evenly, and this is then cut accordingly at a later time, namely when it is planted. In this way, it is possible to produce a large number of similar devices, in particular of the type described above.

[0074] In a preferred embodiment, the manufacturing device comprises a plurality of first punching or cutting devices, each of which is suitable for severing the soil along a plurality of first predetermined and mutually parallel straight lines (and preferably completely in the thickness direction).

[0075] In a further embodiment, the manufacturing device also comprises a plurality of second punching and / or cutting devices which are suitable and intended to cut through the earth along a plurality of second predetermined and mutually parallel straight directions (and preferably entirely in the thickness direction).

[0076] Particularly preferably, the first and second lines are perpendicular to each other. In this way, a plurality of rectangular sections, in particular of equal size, are created from the (in particular already planted) soil. In this way, a plurality of preferably similar covering devices with similar geometries can be created.

[0077] Instead of the cutting or punching device, however, partition walls extending in the aforementioned directions could also be provided. In this way, the cover devices to be manufactured could be produced in the desired geometric shape right from the start. Thus, a first plurality of first partition walls could be provided, each extending in the first direction, and a plurality of second partition walls, each extending in the second direction. These partition walls then preferably form a kind of checkerboard pattern, wherein a cover device can preferably be created in each of the spaces between each two partition walls.

[0078] Preferably, these partition walls have a height relative to the receiving surface that approximately corresponds to the height of the covering device to be created. This allows, on the one hand, soil to be easily distributed evenly into the individual partial recesses formed by the partition walls, while, on the other hand, the individual resulting covering devices remain clean and preferably completely separated from one another.

[0079] Preferably, the partition walls contact the receiving surface at least in sections.

[0080] In a further preferred embodiment, at least one partition has a receiving slot suitable and intended for receiving a second partition. Preferably, the first partitions and / or the second partitions each have one or more such slots into which the second partition or the first partitions can be inserted.

[0081] Preferably, all partition walls have such slots, which particularly preferably extend to approximately half the width of the respective partition walls. In this way, the partition walls can also preferably be nested within one another.

[0082] Particularly preferably, the first and second cutting and / or punching devices are designed such that the corresponding cuts or punches create rectangles. Particularly preferably, the above-mentioned lines extend in the longitudinal and width directions of the covering devices to be produced.

[0083] The cutting devices can, for example, be saw blades, which are suitable for cutting through the soil with the plants planted therein. For this purpose, the receiving surface can also have corresponding straight recesses or slots through which sawing or punching devices can also pass. However, the cutting devices can also be, for example, cutting knives, which can be moved preferably from above onto the planted soil to cut it.

[0084] However, it would also be possible to provide only a first cutting or punching device, which is suitable and intended to produce cuts in the first straight line. This device could, for example, be displaced perpendicular to the straight line in order to create a plurality of such cuts. This displacement could be performed manually or by means of a drive device.

[0085] It would also be conceivable that only a second cutting or punching device is provided, which is preferably also displaceable perpendicular to its cutting direction.

[0086] Therefore, it is particularly preferred for at least one cutting or punching device to be displaceable perpendicular to the line along which it can cut. For example, it is possible for a cutting or punching device that can cut lines in the longitudinal direction to be displaceable in the width direction. Conversely, it is possible for a cutting or punching device that performs cuts in the width direction to be displaceable in the longitudinal direction.

[0087] In a further advantageous embodiment, the cutting or punching devices or the above-mentioned partition walls are arranged such that the first lines and / or the second lines are arranged equidistant from one another. In this way, covering devices with equal areas can be produced.

[0088] However, it would also be conceivable for the manufacturing device to have a plurality of spaced-apart recesses, each of which serves to produce individual cover devices. In this embodiment, comparatively thick partition walls are therefore preferably provided.

[0089] For example, an array of a large number of recesses or troughs can be provided, into each of which soil is placed and then the plant species are planted.

[0090] Particularly preferably, the device comprises a plurality of projections arranged on the receiving surface and extending in the aforementioned thickness direction. These projections can preferably create the openings through which the traffic elements, or rather the posts of the traffic elements, can later be guided. It would also be possible for these projections to be arranged in the individual recesses or troughs.

[0091] In a preferred embodiment, the projections each have the same cross-sections in a plane that runs parallel to the receiving surface.

[0092] In a further preferred embodiment, the projections have predetermined cross-sections in a plane running parallel to the receiving surface, wherein these cross-sections are preferably adapted to the cross-sections of at least one region of the traffic element, and in particular of a post. Thus, it is possible for the cross-sections of the covering devices thus created to be slightly smaller than the cross-section of the respective traffic element, tree, or post. However, it would be possible for these cross-sections to be the same size or even slightly larger.

[0093] In a further preferred embodiment, the cross sections of the projections are constant in the thickness direction.

[0094] Preferably, the projections have a height that is greater than 3 cm, preferably greater than 4 cm, preferably greater than 5 cm and preferably greater than 10 cm.

[0095] Particularly preferably, the projections have a height that is less than 50 cm, preferably less than 40 cm, preferably less than 30 cm and preferably less than 20 cm.

[0096] In another known embodiment, the projections are each arranged between two first and two second cutting or punching devices and / or between two first and two second partition walls and / or between two first and two second cuts to be made. The projections can also be arranged centrally in the aforementioned recesses or depressions.

[0097] Particularly preferably, said projections are each arranged substantially centrally between the cutting or punching devices or the partition walls or the lines to be produced.

[0098] In a further preferred embodiment, the projections are movable in the thickness direction, meaning they can be pulled out, in particular, from the respective earth elements. This makes it easier to remove the respective covering devices from the receiving surface or from the recesses or troughs after they have been manufactured.

[0099] In a further advantageous embodiment, the manufacturing device comprises a transport device for transporting cut and / or punched and / or separated cover devices. Particularly preferably, the transport device is suitable and intended for transporting cut or punched or separated cover devices along a straight line.

[0100] Particularly preferably, the transport device comprises a conveyor belt or a conveyor chain. This makes it possible to transport finished and / or cut covering devices away.

[0101] In a further advantageous embodiment, the production device comprises an irrigation device and / or a temperature control device. In this way, the piled-up soil can be irrigated or artificially tempered.

[0102] In a further preferred embodiment, the production device comprises an insemination device suitable and intended for introducing seeds and / or seedlings into the base body of soil. This insemination device is preferably suitable and intended for introducing seeds and / or seedlings into the soil at a desired density and preferably also uniformly.

[0103] This method also makes it possible to inseminate the soil and plant seedlings or seeds. It is therefore possible to first add the soil, then sow seeds, and after a certain waiting period, the plants emerge.

[0104] The present invention further relates to a method for producing a covering device for preventing or reducing unwanted plant growth on traffic elements, trees, posts, or the like. A base body made of soil is provided. In a further method step, seeds or seedlings are introduced into this base body.

[0105] In a further process step, the covering device thus created (which is preferably planted with plants grown from the seeds) is attached to the traffic element.

[0106] In a further optional process step, an additional layer is attached to the underside of the base body. This is, in particular, a covering fleece. This is intended to improve the growth process of the plant species.

[0107] Particularly preferred is a compostable covering fleece.

[0108] In a further process step, a predetermined period of time is waited after insemination and preferably also before the (optional) application of the covering fleece. This period is preferably longer than one week, preferably longer than two weeks, preferably longer than four weeks, preferably longer than six weeks.

[0109] This period is particularly preferably less than two years, preferably less than 1.5 years, preferably less than one year, preferably less than half a year.

[0110] In a further preferred method, before the device is installed on a traffic element, the subsurface on which the covering device is arranged is processed and, in particular, mechanically processed.

[0111] Particularly preferred is the incorporation or application of a fertilizer, and in particular the application of horn shavings. This incorporation is preferably carried out in a shallow manner.

[0112] In the other preferred methods, mechanical or thermal removal of weeds takes place before the covering device is installed.

[0113] The covering device is particularly preferably installed or planted in the months June to October, preferably in the months July to September.

[0114] In another preferred method, the soil is applied to a preferably flat base with a predetermined thickness, and seeds and / or seedlings are preferably introduced into the soil. However, it would also be possible to introduce the soil into individual recesses, each separated from the other by walls.

[0115] Particularly preferably, after the planting has grown, a first plurality of parallel and straight cuts are made in the base body. Particularly preferably, these cuts divide the base body into different sections.

[0116] However, it would also be possible for the soil to be placed in a number of recesses, each of which is spaced apart from each other by partition walls.

[0117] In another preferred method, second cuts are also introduced into the base body, with the second cuts intersecting the first cuts. In this way, a plurality of cover devices is created in a checkerboard pattern. Alternatively, however, a plurality of second partition walls could also be provided, as mentioned above.

[0118] Optionally, the base body can also be irrigated.

[0119] In a further preferred embodiment, the covering device has a circular cross-section. In particular, the covering device has a central opening. In this embodiment, the covering device is preferably ring-shaped. Young trees can bear weight through said opening.

[0120] The present invention is further directed to a seed element or a seed device for plants, in particular for a covering device of the type described above.

[0121] According to the invention, the seed element is made from a starting mass containing a predetermined proportion of seed, a predetermined proportion of soil, in particular potting soil, a predetermined proportion of clay, and a predetermined proportion of water. These predetermined proportions are mixed together.

[0122] In a preferred embodiment, the mass fraction and / or the volume fraction and in particular the mass fraction of the starting mass of seed is greater than 2%, preferably greater than 3%, preferably greater than 5%, preferably greater than 7% and preferably greater than 9%.

[0123] Particularly preferably, the mass fraction and / or the volume fraction and in particular the mass fraction of the starting mass of seed is less than 30%, preferably less than 25%, preferably less than 20%, preferably less than 15% and particularly preferably less than 10%.

[0124] In a further preferred embodiment, the mass fraction or the volume fraction and in particular the mass fraction of the starting mass of soil is greater than 20%, preferably greater than 30%, preferably greater than 40%, preferably greater than 45% and preferably greater than 48%.

[0125] Preferably, the mass fraction of the starting mass and / or volume fraction and in particular the mass fraction of soil is less than 80%, preferably less than 70%, preferably less than 60%, preferably less than 55% and particularly preferably less than 52%.

[0135] In particular, the composition of the seed element is such that it does not crumble or deform too easily. This composition is achieved in particular by the proportions described above.

[0136] In a preferred embodiment, the seed element has a storage life of more than 0.5 years, preferably more than 1 year, and particularly preferably more than 1.5 years. This is achieved in particular by the composition of the starting mass. After this period, the germination capacity of the seed typically decreases.

[0137] The product or seed elements described here are intended and suitable for planting at the customer's premises or for partial or extensive application at a site of use.

[0138] The present invention is further directed to a method for producing seed elements and in particular a seed element of the type described above.

[0139] In a first process step, various components are provided for a starting mass or for the production and / or shaping of a starting mass, namely the seed, soil, clay, and water. These components are then mixed, particularly to form a starting mass.

[0148] Showing: Fig. 1 a schematic representation of a covering device according to the invention; Fig. 2 shows a representation of a traffic element with a covering device according to the invention; Fig. 3 a bottom side of a covering device according to the invention; Fig. 4 a schematic representation of an apparatus for producing covering devices; Fig. 5 a schematic representation of another device for producing covering devices; and Fig. 6 an arrangement aid for arranging a covering device on a traffic element

[0149] Fig. Figure 1 shows a covering device 1 according to the invention. This device comprises a base body 2 made of soil. A plurality of plants 4 are planted in this base body 2. Reference numeral 12 denotes an upper side of the base body, and reference numeral 14 denotes an underside of the base body 2.

[0150] An opening 16 is provided in the base body, which serves to accommodate a traffic element or a post of the traffic element or a tree trunk. Reference numeral 8 denotes an optional additional layer, in particular a compostable fleece.

[0151] In this way, the entire covering device 1 is preferably manufactured without plastics and / or metals. Thus, the covering device is made entirely of biological material, or the covering device 1 is preferably made entirely of biological and / or biodegradable material.

[0152] At the Fig. In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, the covering device is round. However, it is preferably rectangular or square in shape. However, a round design may be suitable, for example, for arrangement around trees.

[0153] Fig. Figure 2 shows an application of the covering device 1 according to the invention. It shows a traffic element 10 in the form of a delineator post. This delineator post is guided through the opening 16. Meanwhile, vegetation 4 has developed on the base body 2. This vegetation 4 prevents plants present under the covering device from climbing up the traffic element 10.

[0154] Reference symbol L denotes a longitudinal direction of the covering device, reference symbol B denotes a width direction, and reference symbol H denotes a thickness or height direction. The plant species 4 is selected such that it will not increase significantly in height, ie, in the longitudinal direction of the traffic element 10.

[0155] Fig. Figure 3 shows the underside of the covering device. Roots 15 of a plant species have developed on the underside 14. These are, in particular, shallow roots. These roots contribute to the stabilization of the covering devices as a whole.

[0156] Fig. Figure 4 schematically shows an apparatus 50 for producing covering devices, and in particular the aforementioned covering devices. This apparatus 50 comprises a receiving device 52 with a receiving surface 54, onto which soil can be applied. Reference numeral 64 denotes a peripheral edge surrounding the receiving surface 54.

[0157] The reference numeral 56 denotes a first cutting or punching device which is suitable and intended to make a cut along the straight direction S1 in the planted soil which is located on the support surface 54.

[0158] It is possible to provide a plurality of such punching and / or cutting devices, which make corresponding cuts along a plurality of straight lines S1. However, it would also be possible for the first punching or cutting device to be displaceable in the direction P1 in order to make these cuts (one after the other).

[0159] Instead of the punching or cutting device, a plurality of partition walls could also be provided, each located in the directions S1.

[0160] The reference numeral 58 denotes a second first cutting or punching device which is suitable and intended to make a cut along the straight direction S2 in the planted soil which is located on the support surface 54.

[0161] It is possible to provide a plurality of such second punching and / or cutting devices (or partition walls) 58, which make corresponding cuts along a plurality of straight lines S2. However, it would also be possible for the second punching or cutting device to be displaceable in the direction P2 in order to be able to make these cuts (one after the other).

[0162] Instead of the punching or cutting device, a plurality of partition walls could also be provided, each extending in the directions S2.

[0163] Reference numeral 62 denotes a projection, which is preferably arranged in the center of each of the individual surface pieces arranged by the cuts or partitions. This projection preferably protrudes vertically from the plane of the figure and creates the individual openings of the cover devices. For reasons of clarity, only three projections are shown; preferably, one such projection is located in each of the squares formed by lines S1, S2.

[0164] Fig. Figure 5 shows a further embodiment for producing covering devices. A plurality of recesses or troughs 70 are provided, into each of which soil can be introduced, which in turn can be planted. These recesses or troughs preferably have a depth of between 5 mm and 40 mm, preferably between 10 mm and 30 mm. The edges delimiting the troughs 70 are preferably straight.

[0165] The reference number 72 designates a first partition wall extending horizontally between two rows of recesses, which, however, is designed to be significantly wider than the partition wall in the Fig. 4. Reference numeral 24 denotes a further partition wall, which here extends perpendicular to the partition wall 72.

[0166] Also in the Fig. In the direction shown in Figure 5 from left to right, columns of recesses are spaced from each other by partition walls.

[0167] In Fig. In Figure 5, the dimensions of the device are given in mm. Please note, however, that these dimensions may vary.

[0168] Preferably, the walls between the recesses are designed to be non-slip, so that the individual cover devices created can be removed from the respective recesses 70.

[0169] It should be noted that all features described with reference to the method are also disclosed correspondingly for the device, which means, in particular, that the corresponding device comprises devices suitable and intended for carrying out the respective methods. Furthermore, features described with reference to the device are also applicable accordingly to the method(s). This means that the methods are carried out using the corresponding device features.

[0170] Fig. 6 shows a positioning aid 50 or a sliding board for arranging a covering device 1 on a traffic element 10. This positioning aid has several openings 52 into which a user can reach in order to carry the positioning aid 50 with a covering device 1 arranged thereon.

[0171] The reference numeral 54 denotes a recess which is open towards an edge of the arrangement aid 50.

[0172] In use, the positioning aid is pushed over the traffic element with a covering device placed on it. The positioning aid is then Fig. 6 pulled away to the left under the cover device 1.

[0173] The applicant reserves the right to claim all features disclosed in the application documents as essential to the invention, provided they are novel, individually or in combination, over the prior art. It is further noted that the individual figures also describe features that may be advantageous in and of themselves. The skilled person will immediately recognize that a specific feature described in a figure may be advantageous even without adopting further features from that figure. Furthermore, the skilled person will recognize that advantages may also arise from a combination of several features shown in individual or different figures.
