Abstract
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] This invention relates to further developments in gas burner appliances and focuses in particular on improving the operating efficiency of gas burners. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Most burners currently available on the Indian market are relatively small and typically designed for vertical use only. The size of the burner determines whether the kiln can achieve optimal firing results. If the burner is too small for the kiln, the maximum achievable temperature of the kiln will be lower, as the heat loss rate limits the possibility of further temperature increase.
[0003] In this system, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) enters the burner through a pipe with an orifice at the end. This orifice is a small opening that controls the flow of gas into the burner orifice. Typically, the orifice size is fixed, but natural gas burners have larger orifices than propane burners. Because natural gas is released at lower pressure and in smaller quantities, a larger orifice is required. To convert a natural gas burner to use with propane, the orifice must be adjusted, as the size suitable for natural gas is too large for propane. In this design, the orifice is adjustable, so the burner can be modified for use with propane if necessary. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0004] This invention focuses on the inclusion of several adjustable parameters to analyze their impact on burner performance. The orifice is mounted on an adjustable tube, allowing the position of the orifice to be changed to investigate how its placement affects burner performance. The orifice itself is replaceable. The position of the gas tube within the burner tube can also be adjusted. This flexibility improves the mixing of gas and air, especially in low-pressure situations where the tube can be moved further into the burner tube to optimize the combustion process. The air drawn into the burner is called primary air. To regulate the amount of primary air, an adjustable air damper is installed at the inlet of the tube. This air damper can be moved to control how much air is allowed to enter the burner. The burner head is interchangeable, allowing you to experiment with different opening ranges and hole sizes. The burner head can be adjusted to the specific size and shape of the oven in use.
[0005] The present invention aims to provide a gas burner assembly. The assembly comprises: an adjustable gas tube for regulating the position and gas flow in the burner; an adjustable air damper for regulating the primary air supply for combustion; a venturi tube for varying the pressure along the tube length to enable optimal gas-air mixing; and a hemispherical burner head for uniform flame distribution across the entire surface.
[0006] An object of the present invention is to provide a gas burner assembly.
[0007] Another object of the present invention is to convert a natural gas burner to operate on propane by adjusting the nozzle size.
[0008] Another object of the present invention is to provide a gas burner assembly in which the opening is adjustable, allowing modification of the burner for use with propane as needed.

[0017] Embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0018] This invention relates to the further development of gas burner devices and focuses specifically on improving the operating efficiency of gas burners. The size of the burner is crucial, as it must be matched to the size of the kiln to ensure optimal firing results. If the burner is too small for the kiln, it will reach a point where further temperature increases are not possible because heat loss exceeds the heat input. Conventional gas burners do not generate enough heat, making it difficult for potters to achieve higher temperatures in a shorter time.
[0019] This invention allows precise control over key parameters, including the length of the burner tube, the orientation of the orifice, and the primary air supply. Efficient fuel combustion requires that each fuel particle is exposed to the correct amount of oxygen to avoid both excess fuel and excess air. With liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), oxygen from the atmosphere aids combustion, and thorough mixing of the fuel with air prior to combustion is essential. This is achieved through the use of a venturi tube, which is based on the venturi principle. The variable cross-section of the tube causes the liquid to flow along its length at different velocities, promoting effective air-fuel mixing. The amount of air mixed with the fuel can be adjusted by regulating the airflow through the burner tube.
[0020] The orifice is located at the end of the gas tube, allowing its position to be adjusted to study its effect on burner performance. To control primary ventilation, an air damper is mounted at the tube inlet, allowing control over the air supply. Furthermore, the burner head is interchangeable, allowing experimentation with different orifice sizes. It is hemispherical for optimal performance.
[0021] The attached illustrations show the gas burner with several adjustable parameters that improve energy efficiency and allow the burner to reach higher temperatures more quickly in a pottery kiln. By controlling these parameters, the burner achieves greater energy efficiency. The design emphasizes not only energy savings but also easy heat control by adjusting the gas, air, and their mixing position before combustion. Thorough mixing is facilitated by the Venturi tube.
[0022] In the Fig. 1-4 show different views of the proposed assembly, where Fig. 1 the top view of the assembly, Fig. 2 the bottom view of the assembly, Fig. 3 the left side view of the assembly and Fig. 4 shows the right side view of the assembly.
[0023] The invention comprises four main components, each of which is an integral part of the burner mechanism.
[0024] The first component is the adjustable gas line. This part contains a series of control mechanisms: One gear is connected to a bracket that secures the gas line, while the other side is attached to the pipe through which the gas line runs.
[0025] The second component is the air damper. It consists of three parts: a handle that connects the air damper to the main burner body, the tube through which the gas line runs, and a movable round damper that allows the air intake area to be fully opened or closed.
[0026] The third component is the main burner body, or venturi. This part ensures thorough mixing of gas and air before they reach the flame. The long venturi is important for maintaining the pressure required to optimize burner performance and energy efficiency.
[0027] The fourth component is the burner head. This part is interchangeable and allows for different hole sizes depending on the burning requirements.
[0028] The proposed burner assembly mainly comprises a gas tube (102), an air damper (104), an orifice (110), a venturi nozzle (106) and a head (108) of the assembly.
[0029] With reference to Fig.5, the gas burner assembly (100) comprises: an adjustable gas tube (102) for regulating the position and gas flow in the burner, an adjustable air damper (104) for regulating the primary air supply for combustion, a venturi tube (106) for varying the pressure along the length of the tube, thereby enabling optimal gas-air mixing, and a hemispherical burner head (108) for uniform flame distribution over its surface.
[0030] In one embodiment, the adjustable gas tube (102) allows a change in its position within the burner tube (106), thereby directly influencing the thermal efficiency and heat output of the burner.
[0031] In one embodiment, the adjustable air damper (104) allows precise regulation of the air entering the burner, thereby controlling the air-fuel ratio for efficient combustion.
[0032] In one embodiment, the venturi tube (106) is structured so that the pressure of the gas-air mixture can be adjusted, ensuring thorough mixing before reaching the burner head (108) and thereby optimizing combustion and heat dissipation.
[0033] In one embodiment, the hemispherical burner head (108) is designed to distribute the flames evenly over its surface, thus ensuring constant and uniform heating in the furnace.
[0034] The adjustable gas tube (102), the air damper (104), and the venturi nozzle (106) together form a robust and highly effective firing mechanism. This design allows for precise control of the burner output, thus improving the firing process in pottery kilns. All parts are adjustable and can be modified for different purposes.
