Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a stamping system for use in a stamping press and a stamp for this purpose.
[0002] Punch presses are used in industrial manufacturing, for example, to pierce flat workpieces, such as metal sheets or foils, using a punch. The punch is typically interchangeable and held in a punch holder for easy replacement. The punch holder, in turn, is connected to the actual punch press.
[0003] It has long been known to hold the punch in the punch holder by means of a ball locking mechanism. US 5,357,835 A describes such a punch holder, which has a punch hole into which a cylindrical base of the punch can be inserted and secured by a ball locking mechanism.
[0004] DE 20 2022 102 886 U1 describes a punch system with a punch holder that, in addition to the ball locking mechanism, has an alignment element projecting into the punch hole. A slot is formed on the punch so that the punch can only be inserted into the punch hole if the alignment element and the slot are correctly oriented to each other. The advantage of this system is that the alignment element and the slot together act as a kind of anti-rotation device, ensuring that the punch reliably engages in the ball locking mechanism. However, the alignment element projecting into the punch hole prevents punches without a matching slot from being inserted. For example, conventional punches lacking the slot described above cannot be used with the aforementioned punch holder. This limits the compatibility and versatility of the punch system.
[0005] The object of the invention is to offer a punch system for use in a punch press or a punch for this purpose, which has a reliable ball locking mechanism between the punch and the punch holder and at the same time high compatibility and variability.
[0006] This problem is solved by a stamping system with the features of claim 1 or by a stamp with the features of claim 11. Advantageous embodiments are described in the dependent claims.
[0007] The punch system according to the invention for use in a punch press comprises a punch holder and a punch held in this punch holder. The punch has a cylindrical punch base for receiving it in the punch holder, a punch tip for piercing material, a ball locking recess formed on the cylindrical surface of the punch base, and a radial extension element projecting from the cylindrical surface of the punch base. The punch holder has a base body with a mounting surface for attaching the punch holder to a punch press and a receiving surface opposite the mounting surface, a punch hole formed on the receiving surface for receiving the punch base, a spring-loaded locking ball that extends partially into the punch hole and forms a ball lock with the ball locking recess of the punch, and a recess formed in the receiving surface extending along the punch hole for receiving the extension element of the punch.
[0008] By positioning the extension of the punch in the recess of the punch holder, an anti-rotation device is created, and the punch can only be inserted into the punch hole in one orientation: when the extension is in the recess and the locking ball engages the ball locking recess. This prevents misalignment of the punch and ensures reliable locking by the ball locking mechanism.
[0009] Furthermore, the extension element of the stamp can be removed if necessary, making it compatible with conventional stamp holders – that is, stamp holders without the aforementioned recess. This increases compatibility and versatility.
[0010] The extension element can be partially received into a receptacle formed on the lateral surface of the stamp base in order to ensure a stable positioning of the extension element.
[0011] The extension element itself can be designed, in particular, as a pin or bolt. The connection of the extension element to the cylindrical surface or to the receptacle can be achieved, in particular, by frictional connection (e.g., in the form of an interference fit or a threaded connection). However, a positive-locking connection (e.g., by means of a key or a rivet connection) or a material-locking connection (e.g., by gluing or welding) is also conceivable.
[0012] The extension element may also have a shear aid, in particular a notch or groove, to facilitate the removal of the extension element if necessary.
[0013] To achieve particularly precise positioning of the punch within the punch hole, the shape of the recess can be complementary to the extension element. More precisely, the cross-sectional shape of the recess on the receiving surface can be complementary to the outer contour of the extension element as viewed in the axial direction of the punch.
[0014] The recess on the receiving surface can be designed in particular as a groove milled into the cylindrical surface of the punch hole or as a bore on the receiving surface that partially overlaps the punch hole.
[0015] The invention is further explained with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawings. These show: Fig. 1. A perspective view of a stamping system with a stamp holder and a stamp; Fig. 2 a perspective view of the stamp from Fig. 1; Fig. 3 a sectional view of the stamp system Fig. 1;
[0016] The stamping system 1 shown in the drawing figures consists of a stamp holder 10 and a stamp 20 and is intended for use with a stamping press not shown in detail.
[0017] The punch holder 10 consists of a base body 11, which has a mounting surface 12 for attaching the punch holder 10 to the punch press and a receiving surface 13 opposite the mounting surface 12. The receiving surface 13 has, among other things, a punch hole 14 for receiving the punch 20. In addition to the punch hole 14 and the receiving 17, which will be described in more detail below, the receiving surface 13 also has further mounting and positioning holes, which are not described in detail below.
[0018] The punch 20 has a cylindrical punch base 21 and a punch tip 22. The punch tip 22 is used for the actual processing of the material, with the shape and size of the punch tip 21 varying as required. The diameter of the punch base 21 and the diameter of the punch hole 14 are matched so that the punch base 21 can slide into the punch hole 14. The diameter of the punch base can be, for example, 10 mm, 13 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm, or 40 mm.
[0019] A ball locking recess 23 and a projection 24 are formed on the cylindrical surface of the punch base 21. The ball locking recess 23 and the projection 24 are arranged offset by an angle of 180°. The projection 24 extends radially (i.e., radially outward) from the cylindrical surface of the punch base 21 and, in the described embodiment, is designed as a pin. The pin base is received in a receptacle 25 by an interference fit. The receptacle 25 is designed as a bore on the cylindrical surface of the punch base 21.
[0020] The punch holder 10 further comprises a locking ball 16 pre-tensioned by a spring 15. The locking ball 16 extends partially into the punch hole 14. When the punch base 21 is inserted into the punch hole 14, the locking ball 16, together with the ball locking recess 23, forms a ball lock. In this way, the punch 20 is held reliably and at the same time easily replaceable in the punch holder 20.
[0021] Furthermore, a recess 17 is formed in the receiving surface 13. In the exemplary embodiment, the recess 17 is designed as a bore that partially overlaps the punch hole 14. The recess 17 extends axially parallel to the punch hole 14 but has a shallower depth than the punch hole 14. The cross-section of the recess 17 on the receiving surface 13 is such that it is adapted to the outer contour of the extension element 24, as viewed in the axial direction of the punch 20, that the extension element 24 can be received in the recess. The depth of the recess 17 is greater than the distance of the extension element 24 from the base surface of the punch base 21.
[0022] If the punch 20 is to be inserted into the punch holder 10, this is only possible in a position where the extension element 24 is in line with the recess 17. In this position, however, the locking ball 16 and the ball locking recess 23 are also correctly positioned. Thus, misalignment of the punch 20 is prevented.
[0023] If the stamp 20 is to be used with a stamp holder without a recess 17, the extension element 24 can be removed relatively easily. Without the extension element 24, the stamp 20 can then also be inserted into stamp holders without a recess 17.
[0024] In the described embodiment, the extension element 24 is designed as a pin that is received into the receptacle 25 by means of an interference fit. In a further embodiment (not shown in the drawing), however, the extension element 24 can also be connected to the receptacle 25 by a threaded connection and screwed into it. In this case, the extension element 24 can be designed, in particular, as a setscrew. If, in such an embodiment, the length of the setscrew is less than the depth of the receptacle 25, the setscrew can, if necessary, be screwed completely into the receptacle 25. Although this eliminates the anti-rotation function, the punch can then also be combined with a punch holder without a recess 17.
[0025] In other embodiments (also not shown in the drawing), the extension element can also be attached to the receptacle 25 by means of an adhesive or directly to the lateral surface of the stamp base 21 (in particular by gluing or welding).
