[0006] This task is solved by a universal, removable license plate holder consisting of a holding unit attached to the motorcycle frame and a detachably attached carrier unit. The carrier unit carries the license plate as well as electrical components such as indicators and license plate lighting.

[0007] The mechanical connection between the holding and support units is achieved through a combination of a magnetic fixation and a spring-loaded pressure mechanism. The holding unit contains a spring-loaded plate that constantly exerts pressure toward the support unit. The support unit has two locking lugs that extend across its width – one at the front and one at the back.

[0008] To insert, the rear locking tab of the carrier unit is first placed on the side of the holding unit with the spring plate and then pushed forward by applying pressure against this plate. Once the spring plate is fully compressed, the front locking tab can slide over the holding unit. After releasing the carrier unit, the spring plate's restoring force pushes it slightly backward, causing the front locking tab to rest on the holding unit. The connection is thus locked without the traditional snap-in action.

[0011] In a preferred embodiment, the holding unit comprises a rigid base structure for mounting on the motorcycle frame. A spring-loaded plate is mounted transversely within the holding unit and presses with constant force towards the support unit to be attached. The support unit is provided with two locking lugs – one on the front and one on the rear end. To attach, first place the rear locking lug on the side of the spring plate and move forward against the resistance of the support unit by pressing on the latter. As soon as the front locking lug has been moved over the holding unit, the support unit is pushed back slightly by the force of the spring plate. This ensures that the front locking lug rests securely on the holding unit, and the entire unit is positively locked. In addition, there is a magnetic fixation for stabilization after attachment.The electrical connection between the carrier unit and the retaining unit is realized by spring-loaded contact surfaces that automatically connect when pushed together. A mechanical lock locks the system and is released by operating the standard lock on the pillion seat, without having to open the seat itself. [1] Removable license plate holder for motorcycles, consisting of - a holding unit that can be attached to the motorcycle frame, - a detachably attached carrier unit carrying a license plate and electrical consumers such as indicators and license plate lighting, - a mechanical connection between the holding and carrier unit that can be released without tools, - as well as electrical contact means in the form of spring contacts, which automatically establish electrically conductive contact with the electrical wiring of the motorcycle when the carrier unit is inserted [2] Interchangeable license plate holder according to claim 1, characterized by that the carrier unit has a mechanical lock coupled to the lock of the pillion seat, which can only be released by operating this lock. [3] Interchangeable license plate holder according to one of the preceding claims, characterized bythat the carrier unit can be universally mounted on motorcycles from different manufacturers.
