Abstract
Description
The invention relates to plugs for temporarily closing a water pipe.At construction sites, drinking water lines, waste water lines or the like are generally laid in excavations. These water conduits are of a length provided and have at one end a sleeve into which the end of a next piece of conduit is inserted. However, in the event of an interruption of the construction work, it is necessary to temporarily close the open end of the water line. This prevents dirt or animals from entering the line. The invention is based on the problem of configuring a closure of the type mentioned at the beginning in such a way that it is constructed as simply as possible and enables a particularly simple closure of the open end of a water line. This problem is solved according to the invention in that a plug has a first end piece for engaging over the free end of the water line and a second end piece for insertion into the water line.By means of this configuration, the water line can be closed by means of the stopper as a single component, regardless of which free end of the water line is to be closed. As a result, the closing of the open end of the water line is particularly simple. Furthermore, such a plug is of particularly simple construction.According to another advantageous development of the invention, contamination of the water line can be easily removed via the plug if at least one of the end pieces has a flushing water connection. As a result of this design, the closure has a dual function and prevents dirt from entering the water line and also allows the possible dirt to be removed from the water line. In this case, a solution for disinfecting the line through the flushing water connection can also be introduced. Finally, a flushing process can also be carried out. A pressure test and thus a testing of the tightness of the water line can likewise take place via the flushing water connection by the water line being pressurized via the flushing water connection. The flushing water connection itself thus enables a triple function with the pressure sample, the disinfection and the flushing and is therefore suitable for use on both end pieces.According to another advantageous further embodiment of the invention, a reliable closing of the water line is particularly simple in construction if the end piece for engaging over the free end of the water line has a sleeve which is designed correspondingly in the case of water lines. To simplify the sealing of the free end of the water line, it contributes according to another advantageous development of the invention if the end piece has a sealing ring for engaging over the free end of the water line.To further simplify the sealing of the free end of the water line, it contributes according to another advantageous development of the invention if the end piece has a circumferential and protruding edge for insertion into the water line. This edge seals together with the sleeve arranged at the free end of water lines.A permanent closure of the water line can be produced easily according to another advantageous development of the invention if the plug is manufactured from a cast material. Such a closure is often desirable when work is interrupted for a longer period of time on a construction site. The plug can be manufactured from cast iron, for example, and can also have a cement lining or cement sheathing. In addition, the casting material can also be provided with a zinc coating or with an epoxy resin varnish. For application areas in which only a brief sealing of the water line is necessary, the plug is designed to be particularly simple in terms of design if the plug is made of plastic. This design is particularly suitable on construction sites where the works on the water line are at rest, for example, overnight or one weekend. Suitable plastics are, in particular, POM, PE, PA66, Terez or HDPE.According to another advantageous development of the invention, the plug is particularly compact if the two end pieces are separated from one another by a common separating wall. The dismantling of the plug is particularly simple according to another advantageous development of the invention if the two end pieces each have a separating wall and if an elongate opening for the attachment of a release tool is arranged between the separating walls. In the simplest case, the releasing tool is a wedge which removes the plug from the free end of the water line. The dismantling of the plug is particularly simple, in particular in the case of those made of cast iron, according to another advantageous development of the invention, if a handle is arranged on the outer side of the end piece which engages over the free end of the water line. The invention permits numerous embodiments. To further clarify its basic principle, two of them are illustrated in the drawing and are described below. This shows in FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through a first embodiment of a stopper with two flushing water connections, FIG. 2 shows the plug from FIG. 1 in a state in which it is inserted into a socket of a water line, FIG. 3 shows the plug from FIG. 1 in a state in which it engages over one end of the water line, FIG. 4 shows the plug from FIG. 1 in a side view, FIG. 5 is a longitudinal section through a second embodiment of a plug.FIG. 1 shows a plug 1 with two end pieces 2, 3 for temporarily closing a water line 4 shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. One of the end pieces 2 is in the form of a sleeve 6 of the water pipe 4 shown in FIG. 2. In the end piece 2 having the shape of the sleeve 6 of the water line 4 a sealing ring 7 is inserted. The other of the end pieces 3 is in the form of a free end of the water pipe 4, and the end piece 3 having the form of the free end of the water pipe 4 has a circumferential and protruding edge 8.Each of the end pieces 2, 3 has a flushing water connection 9, 10 directly on the partition wall 5; flushing water lines, not shown, for flushing the water line 4 shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 can be connected to the flushing water connections 9, 10. In addition, the flushing water connections 9, 10 can also be temporarily closed by a stopper, not shown. The flushing water connections can have an internal thread for this purpose.FIG. 2 shows a partial region of the plug 1 from FIG. 1 when closing an end of the water line 4 having the sleeve 6, the plug 1 being inserted into the sleeve 6 by way of the one end piece 3 which has the shape of the free end of the water line 4. A sealing ring 11 of the sleeve 6 seals the water line 4 with respect to the end piece 3. The encircling and projecting edge 8 is supported on a radially inwardly pointing web 12 of the sleeve 6. As a result, the position of the plug 1 relative to the water line 4 is axially secured.FIG. 3 shows a partial region of the plug 1 from FIG. 1 when closing the free end of the water line 4. the end piece 2 of the plug 1 having the shape of the sleeve engages over the free end of the water line 4. the closure is sealed off via the sealing ring 7 arranged in the plug 1.FIG. 4 shows a side view of the plug 1 from FIG. 1, it being evident here that handles 15 are arranged on the outer periphery of the plug 1. This embodiment is particularly suitable for heavy cast iron plugs 1.FIG. 5 shows a further embodiment of a plug 101 in longitudinal section with two end pieces 102, 103. The two end pieces 102, 103 each have a partition wall 105, 105'. One of the end pieces 102 has a relatively large diameter and serves for fitting onto the free end of the water pipe 4 shown in FIG. 3, and the other end piece 103 of relatively small diameter serves for fitting into the socket 6 of the water pipe 4 shown in FIG. 2, and a neck 116 having an elongated opening 117 is arranged between the partitions 105, 105'. The opening 117 serves to insert a releasing tool when the small-diameter end piece is inserted into the socket 6 of the water pipe 4. In the simplest case, this plug 101 can be produced from plastic by injection molding.
