Description

Technical area

[0001] The present invention relates to a brush and in particular to an interdental brush. State of the art

[0002] Current interdental brushes can be roughly divided into two types: fine-bristle brushes and soft-rubber brushes. Fine-bristle interdental brushes have relatively thin and soft bristles, resulting in less effective cleaning.

[0003] Another type of interdental brush with fine bristles has metal bristles. Even slight pressure during use can cause bleeding and gum injury.

[0004] Interdental brushes with soft rubber bristles typically have bristles made of silicone or rubber material and have a larger contact surface than brushes with fine bristles, as shown, for example, in US patent application US20180263741A1. It discloses an interdental cleaning device equipped with a base and a cleaning element. The base comprises a shaft portion and a handle portion. Numerous conical bristles are arranged radially on the surface of the shaft portion, forming a cleaning element.

[0005] The known technology disclosed in this patent application cleans the interdental spaces using numerous conical bristles. Each individual conical bristle is compressed and bent as it passes over the tooth surface, resulting in only linear contact between the bristle and the tooth as it passes over the tooth surface. This insufficient contact area leads to insufficient cleaning effectiveness. Furthermore, the conical bristles are isolated and unsupported, which compromises their strength. [0028] Fig. 1 is a three-dimensional view of the interdental brush according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 2 is a side view of the interdental brush according to the embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the interdental brush according to the embodiment of the present invention taken along line AA in Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a partially enlarged view of an interdental brush rod of the interdental brush according to the embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 5 is a locally enlarged three-dimensional view of the interdental brush according to the embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 1 to 5, the present invention is shown in various views and sectional illustrations. The interdental brush according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises at least one interdental brush rod (10) and a handle (20).

[0029] As shown in the above figures, the interdental brush according to the embodiment of the present invention is characterized by comprising an interdental brush rod 10, the interdental brush rod 10 having a central axis portion 11 and a connecting portion 12, a plurality of first bristle groups 13 and a plurality of second bristle groups 14 being axially offset on the surface of the central axis portion 11, the plurality of first bristle groups 13 and the plurality of second bristle groups 14 being perpendicular to each other, each of the first bristle groups 13 having two first bristles 131, and each of the second bristle groups 14 having two second bristles 141; a handle 20 connected to the connecting portion 12;and comprises a plurality of scrapers 15, each of the scrapers 15 being connected to and supported by each of the first bristles 131 and its adjacent second bristle 141, and each of the scrapers 15 also supporting each of the first bristles 131 and its adjacent second bristle 141, wherein in a horizontal cross-section of the central axis portion 11, the first bristles 131 form a Y-axis, the second bristles 141 form an X-axis, the X-axis and the Y-axis forming a coordinate system in the horizontal cross-section, the scrapers 15 being arranged in pairs in opposite quadrants, and the scrapers 15 extending over 50% of the circumference of the central axis portion 11;

[0030] The details are described below. The interdental brush rod 10 has a central axis portion 11 and a connecting portion 12. On the surface of the central axis portion 11, a plurality of first bristle groups 13 and a plurality of second bristle groups 14 are arranged in an axially offset manner. The first bristle group 13 has two first bristles 131, and the second bristle group 14 has two second bristles 141. A scraper 15 is arranged between each of the first bristles 131 and its adjacent second bristle 141, connecting the two.

[0031] The handle 20 is connected to the connecting section 12. The handle 20 is designed for finger gripping and enables comfortable use of the interdental brush. The handle 20 is preferably flat to facilitate easy holding.

[0032] By arranging the scraper 15, the contact area with the tooth can be increased to enhance the cleaning effect. By arranging the scraper 15, the first bristle 131 and the second bristle 141 can be supported by the scraper 15 simultaneously, so that the first bristle 131 and the second bristle 141 stand more upright and are less likely to be bent. This increases friction with the tooth and thus improves the cleaning effect.

[0033] Preferably, the connecting portion 12 is hemispherical so that the connecting portion 12 does not injure the gums when it hits the gums.

[0034] Preferably, the handle 20 can also be connected to a dental floss holder 30, so that the interdental brush in combination with the dental floss holder 30 has a two-in-one effect.

[0035] The dental floss holder 30 comprises a first support rod 31, a second support rod 32 and a dental floss 33 connected to both the first support rod 31 and the second support rod 32.

[0036] The handle 20 extends from the first support rod 31 of the dental floss holder 30, and the handle 20 and the dental floss holder 30 are made of the same material.

[0037] The following refers to Fig. 3. The handle 20 can preferably be provided with a handle extension shaft 21, wherein the handle extension shaft 21 is encased by the central axis section 11, so that the interdental brush rod 10 has better rigidity. The handle extension shaft 21 and the handle 20 are made of the same material using an injection molding process, preferably from plastics such as polystyrene or polyethylene, while the interdental brush rod 10 is preferably made of softer materials such as silicone, TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), or TPR (thermoplastic rubber).

[0038] Preferably, the handle 20 is made of plastic material, while the interdental brush rod 10 is made of silicone or rubber material and envelops the handle extension shaft 21, so that the interdental brush rod 10 has a soft surface material and at the same time has better rigidity.

[0039] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 3, the plurality of first bristle groups 13 and the plurality of second bristle groups 14 are perpendicular to each other and, viewed axially, form an X-shape. As a result, the scrapers 15 are arranged symmetrically and evenly on both sides of the central axis section 11, with the circumference of the central axis section 11 with the scraper 15 and the circumference without the scraper 15 each being 50%. When using the interdental brush, both sides of the interdental space can thus be cleaned simultaneously.

[0040] In other words, in a horizontal cross section of the central axis section 11, the first bristles 131 form a Y-axis, and the second bristles 141 form an X-axis, wherein the X-axis and the Y-axis form a coordinate system in the horizontal cross section, wherein the scrapers 15 are each arranged in pairs in opposite quadrants, and the scrapers 15 extend over 50% of the circumference of the central axis section 11.

[0041] In this way, each of the scrapers 15 is connected to and supported by each of the first bristles 131 and its adjacent second bristle 141, and each of the scrapers 15 also supports each of the first bristles 131 and its adjacent second bristle 141.

[0042] As in the Fig. 3, the first bristles 131 form a Y-axis and the second bristles 141 form an X-axis, thereby forming a virtual Cartesian coordinate system comprising a first quadrant 71, a second quadrant 72, a third quadrant 73, and a fourth quadrant 74. As shown, in the horizontal cross-section of the central axis section 11, the scrapers 15 are arranged in the second quadrant 72 and fourth quadrant 74. In an embodiment not shown, the scrapers 15 are arranged in the first quadrant 71 and third quadrant 73 in the horizontal cross-section of the central axis section 11.

[0043] With this configuration, this embodiment can: (1) improve the strength of the scraper by supporting the first bristle 131, the second bristle 141, and the scraper 15 against each other to improve the cleaning effect; (2) clean both sides of the teeth in the same interdental space simultaneously by having the scrapers 15 arranged in opposite quadrants; (3) easily penetrate into the interdental space circumferentially without a scraper because the scraper 15 extends only over 50% of the circumference of the central axis portion 11.

[0044] Preferably, the length C of the connection between the scraper 15 and the first bristle 131 is 40 to 60% of the height B of the first bristle. This allows the scraper 15 to contact the tooth surface to enhance scraping, and the ends of the first bristle 131 and the second bristle 141 can protrude from the scraper 15 and penetrate deep into the interdental space to clean the areas of the tooth roots.

[0045] In principle, the length of the first bristle 131 and the second bristle 141 of the same group is the same. Therefore, it is understandable that the length of the connection between the scraper 15 and the second bristle 141 is also 40 to 60% of the height of the second bristle 141.

[0046] Preferably, the width of the plurality of first bristle groups 13 and the plurality of second bristle groups 14 tapers from one end near the connecting portion 12 to the other end so that the interdental brush can easily reach into the interdental space.

[0047] The following will continue to refer to Fig. 3. The width C of the bristle group here represents the distance between the ends of the two first bristles 131 of the first bristle group 13, which is closest to the connecting section 12. Reference is also made to Fig. 4 and Fig. 5. The width of the plurality of first bristle groups 13 and the plurality of second bristle groups 14 tapers from one end near the connecting portion 12 to the other end. This makes the end of the interdental brush thinner and easier to penetrate the interdental space. The size of the interdental space allows the first bristle group 13 and the second bristle group 14 to reach both sides of the teeth in the interdental space with a suitable length. In addition, the scraper 15 can glide smoothly over the tooth surface, while the ends of the first bristle 131 and the second bristle 141 can penetrate deeply into the interdental space to enable thorough cleaning.

[0048] The following refers to Fig. 6. Fig. 6 is a partially enlarged view of the interdental brush rod of the interdental brush according to the embodiment of the present invention shown in Fig. 2. Preferably, the maximum width E of the plurality of first bristle groups 13 and the plurality of second bristle groups 14 tapers from 3 mm to a minimum width F of 2 mm, making it suitable for most interdental spaces.

[0049] The distance G between the adjacent bristle groups is preferably 1 mm. For example, the distance between the two adjacent first bristle groups 13 is 1 mm, and the distance between the two adjacent second bristle groups 14 is also 1 mm. This size enables a good cleaning effect.

[0050] Fig. 7 is a side view of the interdental brush according to another embodiment of the present application. Fig. 8 is a local three-dimensional view of the interdental brush according to the further embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 9 shows an interdental brush according to the further embodiment of the present application. Reference is made to the Fig. 7 to 9. This shows a further embodiment of the present invention.

[0051] Preferably, the handle 20 may be provided with a break portion 40. The break portion 40 has a recessed structure on both sides, allowing the user to break it with less effort. After breaking, the interdental brush rod 10 and the dental floss holder 30 according to this embodiment can be used independently of each other, as shown in Fig. 8 and Fig. 9 shown.

[0052] Additionally, the handle 20 may be provided with a tongue scraper portion 50. The tongue scraper portion 50 may be a structure that protrudes from the surface of the handle 20 to form a protrusion 51 for the user to scrape tongue coating. Alternatively, the tongue scraper portion 50 may have a recess 52 in front of the protrusion 51 to increase the height of the protrusion 51 and improve the tongue coating scraping effect. In other words, the protrusion 51 and the recess 52 together form the tongue scraper portion 50.

[0053] Finally, the handle 20 may be provided with a trademark portion 60. The trademark portion 60 may be a recessed structure in the surface of the handle 20 to allow the user to print and highlight the trademark.

[0054] An interdental brush is thus provided, comprising an interdental brush rod and a handle, the interdental brush rod having a central axis section and a connecting section, wherein a plurality of first bristle groups and a plurality of second bristle groups are arranged axially offset on the surface of the central axis section, the first bristle group having two first bristles and the second bristle group having two second bristles, a scraper being arranged between each of the first bristles and its adjacent second bristle, connecting the two. The handle is connected to the connecting section. The scraper can increase the contact area with the tooth to enhance the cleaning effect.
