Abstract
Monitoring unit for screening machines with a material removal device for automatically removing a portion of material from a product stream, a separate reference screening unit, and an evaluation unit for detecting damage to the process screen based on the material retained on the reference screen, characterized in that: - a partial stream or portion of material is diverted or removed from a running material stream, - the partial stream or portion of material is fed to a testing device separate from the screening machine, - a separation effect is generated in the testing device for the purpose of separating material according to at least one physical separation criterion, - a portion of material retained or separated in the testing device is detected, - and a change or damage to the screen or separation element is inferred from the detected portion of material.
