Enables rapid and precise crimping of interconnected wire end sleeves, reducing the time required for each work step and improving the overall efficiency of the crimping process.
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a crimping insert for a hand-operated pressing tool according to the preamble of claim 1 and to a hand-operated pressing tool.
[0002] Generic crimping inserts for manually operated pressing tools are usually designed to insert wire end ferrules that are individually threaded onto conductor cable ends into the crimping insert and to fix them using the pressing tool.
[0003] In this case, a punch part and a die part are usually attached to the pressing jaws of the pressing tool, which form a pliers mouth, by means of which the wire end ferrule is pressed onto the conductor wire.
[0004] The disadvantage is that when a large number of wire ends are to be crimped with such wire end ferrules, the time required for each individual work step is relatively high.
[0005] Crimping tools are also known in which wire end ferrules connected to one another as strips are accommodated in a designated receiving bearing within one of the handles or in the area of the pressing jaws of such a tool, which, however, limits the use of such a pressing tool to crimping.
[0006] DE 40 08 515 A1 discloses a manually operable crimping tool with a crimping insert according to the preamble of claim 1. A movable working leg, to which the punch part is attached, can be moved toward a fixed working leg with a wire end ferrule received in a cavity by a pivoting movement of the movable working leg. The punch part is guided and movable within the movable working leg.
[0007] The object of the present invention is to provide a crimping insert for a manually operable pressing tool and a pressing tool which can be easily attached to the pressing tool and with which interconnected wire end ferrules can be easily processed.
[0008] This object is achieved by a crimping insert for a manually operable pressing tool having the features of claim 1 and by a pressing tool having the features of claim 8.
[0009] The crimping insert according to the invention for a manually operable pressing tool with pressing jaws aligned parallel to one another and movable perpendicularly towards or away from one another for processing strips of interconnected wire end ferrules has a punch part that can be fastened to a first of the pressing jaws and a die part that can be fastened to a second of the pressing jaws.
[0010] The die part has a feed area with a receiving opening for feeding the strip into a cutting and pressing area of the die part. A holding element is arranged in the feed area, with which the strip can be frictionally secured in the feed area.
[0011] The punch part and the die part each have a guide part for guiding a lowering movement of the punch part relative to the die part.
[0012] With a crimping insert designed in this way, a sequence of crimping operations can be carried out in a simple manner, whereby the strip of interconnected wire end ferrules can be manually inserted into the die part and is held captively by the holding element of the die part.
[0013] The guide parts enable precise movement of the punch part and the die part to be easily controlled.
[0014] Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the subclaims.
[0015] According to an advantageous embodiment variant, a cutting edge for separating a frontmost wire end sleeve from the strip is arranged, in particular formed, on the stamp part.
[0016] This allows the front end of the wire end ferrules to be separated from the strip when the crimping tool is pressed shut, before the wire is crimped onto the conductor wire.
[0017] According to an advantageous further development, the guide part of the punch part has at least one web which can be lowered into a guide recess of the guide part of the die part.
[0018] Such a web can be easily formed or attached to the punch part. Forming or inserting a guide recess into the die part is also extremely simple and cost-effective.
[0019] According to a preferred embodiment, the guide part of the punch part has two webs arranged parallel to one another and separated from one another by a gap, which can be lowered into the guide recess of the guide part of the die part.
[0020] This allows the length of these webs to be so large that, when the pressing tool is compressed, the webs can extend beyond the pressing jaw to which the die part is attached.
[0021] According to a further embodiment, the holding element is designed as a brush.
[0022] The bristles of such a brush ensure reliable holding of the strip of wire end ferrules, while on the other hand the holder is sufficiently loose to allow easy advancement of the wire end ferrule strip.
[0023] According to an advantageous embodiment, the holding element has a guide web guided in a guide groove of the die part and bristles protruding from the guide web, thus enabling simple installation and simple replacement of such a holding element.
[0024] According to a preferred development, the holding element is secured by a pin axially to the longitudinal axis of the holding element in the guide groove of the die part in order to reliably prevent the holding element from slipping through the guide groove in its longitudinal direction.
[0025] The hand-operated pressing tool is characterized by a crimping insert as described above.
[0026] Preferred embodiments are explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. They show: Figure 1 is a schematic isometric view of an embodiment of a crimping insert according to the invention mounted on a hand-operated pressing tool, Figure 2 is an isometric exploded view of the Figure 1 shown crimping insert and a strip of interconnected wire end ferrules, Figure 3 shows an isometric individual view of the assembled crimping insert, Figures 4 and 5 show different symmetrical views of a die part of the crimping insert, Figures 6 and 7 show different isometric views of a stamp part of the crimping insert and Figures 8 to 10 show the Figure 1 corresponding representations of a crimping insert attached to a pressing tool in different functional positions.
[0027] In the following description of the figures, terms such as top, bottom, left, right, front, back, etc., refer exclusively to the exemplary representation and position of the crimping insert, the pressing tool, the pressing jaws, the punch part, the die part, the holding element, and the like chosen in the respective figures. These terms are not to be understood as limiting; i.e., these references may change due to different working positions or the mirror-symmetrical design, etc.
[0028] In the Figures 1 and 8 to 10 Reference numeral 2 denotes a manually operable crimping tool, preferably in the form of pliers. A variant of a crimping insert 1 according to the invention is inserted into the jaws formed by the crimping jaws 23, 24.
[0029] The crimping insert 1 is used in particular for processing strips 6 of interconnected wire end sleeves 61, as shown for example in the Figures 1 and 2 are shown. Each of the wire end ferrules 61 essentially consists of a metal sleeve 63 into which stripped ends of a conductor cable 8 are inserted, and a sheath 62 placed over an insulation of the conductor cable 8. The strips 6 of interconnected wire end ferrules 61 are held together to form a strip by the sheaths 62 of the wire end ferrules 61.
[0030] As in the Figures 2 and 3 to 7 As shown, the crimping insert 1 has a punch part 3 that can be fastened to a first of the pressing jaws 23, 24 and a die part 4 that can be fastened to a second of the pressing jaws 23, 24. For fastening the punch part 3 and the die part 4, the two components have respective insertion areas 31, 41 with bolt receptacles 32, 42 formed therein.
[0031] The insertion areas 31, 41 are designed like webs and are inserted between sheets arranged parallel to one another which form a respective pressing jaw 23, 24 and are fastened to the pressing tool 2 by means of a bolt (not shown) which is pushed through bolt receptacles 25, 26 in the first pressing jaw 23 and the second pressing jaw 24 as well as through the bolt receptacles 32, 42.
[0032] If the crimping insert 1 is not required, it can be easily removed from the pressing tool 2 by loosening these bolts.
[0033] As in the Figures 3 to 5As shown, the die part 4 has a feed area 43 with a receiving opening 48 for feeding the strip 6 into a cutting and pressing area 49 of the die part 4, which is provided deeper in the jaws of the pliers when installed. The cutting and pressing area 49 of the die part 4 is designed here as a groove that is lowered relative to a bearing surface 44 of the feed area 43, on the bottom 491 of which the wire end ferrule 61 previously cut from the strip is pressed together with an end of a conductor cable 8 inserted into the wire end ferrule 61 by means of the crimping die 34 of the die part 3.
[0034] For reliable alignment of the wire end ferrules 61 in the bearing area 43 of the die part 4, the bearing surface 44 of the die part 4 is formed in two planes, namely a first bearing surface 441 in which the sheaths 62 lie and a second bearing surface 442 on which the metal sleeves 63 of the wire end ferrules 61 rest.
[0035] The bearing area 43 of the die part 4 is aligned in such a way that the sleeve strip chain can be pushed through the entrance of the jaws of the pressing tool 2 in the direction of the rear part of the jaws.
[0036] The wire end ferrules 61, which are cast onto one another via their sheaths 62, are aligned in such a way that a conductor cable end to be crimped can be inserted into the wire end ferrule 61 from a side surface of the pressing jaws 23, 24.
[0037] In order to protect the sleeve strip chain 6 from falling out after it has been pushed into the bearing area 43 of the die part 4 once, a holding element 5 is arranged in the bearing area 43, with which the strip 6 can be fixed in the feed area 43 with frictional engagement.
[0038] The holding element 5 is, as in Figure 2shown by way of example, preferably designed as a brush. The holding element 5 has a guide body 51 guided in a guide groove 47 of the die part 4, from which bristles 52 protrude, which, when the sleeve strip chain 6 is inserted into the die part 4, press the casings 62 of the wire end sleeves 61 against the first bearing surface 441.
[0039] The guide body 51 is preferably made of a dimensionally stable plastic or metal, while the bristles 52 are preferably formed as elastic plastic strips. The guide body 51 is preferably T-shaped in cross-section. Accordingly, the guide groove 46 for receiving the guide body 51 is of a correspondingly T-shaped shape, which holds the holding element 5 in a form-fitting manner in a direction z at a predetermined distance from the first bearing surface 441. For fixation in the longitudinal direction of the guide groove 46, the bearing area 43 of the die part 4 has a bore 47, which serves to receive a pin 7, in particular a threaded pin, and which presses against an upper side of the guide body 51 facing away from the bristles 52. It is also conceivable to introduce a blind hole into the guide body 51, into which the pin 7 projects. Other possibilities for fixing the guide body 51 to the die part 4 are also conceivable.
[0040] The stamp part 3 has, as shown in the Figures 2 , 3 , 6 and 7 shown, has a cutting edge 33 which serves to separate a frontmost wire end sleeve 61 from the sleeve strip chain 6. In the embodiment shown here, the cutting edge 33 is formed integrally on the punch part 3.
[0041] It is also conceivable to design the stamp part 3 in several parts and to fasten the cutting edge 33 to a base body of the stamp part 3.
[0042] Furthermore, the punch part 3 has a guide part 35, which serves to guide a lowering movement of the punch part 3 relative to the die part 4. The guide part 35 has at least one web 36, which can be lowered into a guide recess 451 of the guide part 45 of the die part 4. In the exemplary embodiment shown in Figure 2, the guide part 35 has two such webs 36, which extend from a base piece and are aligned parallel to one another and separated from one another by a gap 37, so that the guide part 35 is approximately U-shaped overall.
[0043] The gap 37 serves to receive a portion of the pressing jaw 24, so that when the pressing tool 2 is actuated and the jaws formed by the pressing jaws 23, 24 are closed, the pin-like webs 36 can slide along the outer sides of the lower, second jaw 24.
[0044] The stamping part 3 further comprises a crimping stamp 34 between the cutting edge 33 and the guide part 35, with a pressing surface 341, which is optionally provided with crosspieces 342, as shown by way of example in the Figures 6 and 7 is shown.
[0045] The crimping die 34 is arranged in a region of the die part 3 in which a respective metal sleeve 63 of the wire end sleeve 61 comes to rest on the bottom 491 of the separation and pressing region 49 of the die part 4.
[0046] The cutting edge 33 extends approximately parallel to the crimping die 34 in an area in which the sheaths 62 of the wire end sleeves 61 are pushed into the separation and pressing area 49 of the die part 4.
[0047] For the precise alignment of the punch part to the die part 4, the die part 4 also has a guide part 45 in an area behind the separation and pressing area 49. This guide part 45 is approximately cuboid-shaped here and has a central guide recess 451, which serves to receive the guide part 35 of the punch part 3.
[0048] The stamp part 3 also has an insertion area 31 with a bolt receptacle 32, with which the stamp part 3 can be easily fixed between the metal sheets of the first pressing jaw 23.
[0049] Based on the Figures 8 to 10 The following describes the process of crimping a conductor cable 8.
[0050] Figure 8 shows the state in which the sleeve strip chain 6 is pushed so far into the bearing area 43 of the die part 4 that a frontmost wire end sleeve 61 is pushed forward into the separation and pressing area 49 of the die part 4.
[0051] Then a conductor cable end 8, as shown in Figure 9 is shown, inserted into the foremost wire end sleeve 61. Subsequently, the jaws of the manually operable crimping tool 2 are closed by pressing the handles 21, 22 together. In doing so, the punch part 3 is pressed onto the die part 4.
[0052] When compressed, the cutting edge 33 shears the foremost wire end ferrule 61 from the rest of the sleeve strip chain 6. As soon as the wire end ferrule 61, together with the conductor cable end 8 inserted therein, has reached the die base 491 in the separation and pressing area 49 of the die part 4, which is achieved by pressing the crimping die 34 and an inclined surface of the shearing area 33 of the die part 3, the conductor cable end 8 is pressed into the wire end ferrule 61, thus creating an electrically conductive connection.
[0053] If, as in Figure 10shown, the handles 21, 22 of the pressing tool 2 are pressed apart again, this is accompanied by a lifting of the punch part 3 from the die part 4.
[0054] The crimped conductor cable end 8 can then be removed. The sleeve strip chain 6 can then be manually advanced a little further into the storage area 43 of the die part 4 until the next wire end sleeve 61 protrudes into the separation and pressing area 49 of the die part 4 and a new crimping process can be performed.
