Description
[0001] According to the preamble of claim 1, the invention relates to a sun protection system with a winding shaft which is coupled to a drive and on which one or two curtain parts of a sun protection curtain can be wound up, wherein one or two tension elements are guided from the free ends of the curtain parts to at least one winding roller, which are coupled to the winding roller in a rotationally rigid manner or are arranged on the winding shaft in a rotationally rigid manner such that the at least one tension element is wound up when the at least one curtain part is extended, wherein an elastic length compensation of the at least one tension element is further provided with a tensioning device, by means of which an increased tension force can be built up on the tension element in the retracted end position of the at least one curtain part.
[0002] Such sun protection systems, which are often designed as so-called sun sails with freely suspended curtain sections, but can also be designed as pergola awnings or other types of awnings, are known from EP 2 765 254 B1 and EP 0 865 557 B1. These systems offer the advantage that the winding shaft also forms the bearing shaft for at least one winding roller. A solution with a winding roller mounted separately from the winding shaft is known from EP 1 914 365 B1. DE 298 23 091 U1 describes an awning with a similar tensioning system.
[0003] Another counter-tension awning is known from DE 198 07 916 C2, in which the basic diameter of a winding roller is adjustable.
[0004] In addition to solutions in which tension is applied using a tensioning device operated at a second operating point, solutions of the type described above (EP 2 765 254 B1) provide for tension to be achieved by over-winding the winding shaft. This reduces the available fabric area because part of the fabric has to be rewound in the opposite direction in order to build up tension in the tension element, with continued winding of the tension element on the winding roller in the same direction causing the tension to be tightened. The advantage of this solution is that relatively little force is required for adjustment because the tension element is relieved over the entire travel range. This excess length of the tension element is essentially compensated for in the extended end position by rewinding part of the curtain to allow tension to build up.In addition, the fabric must be tensioned over a short rotational range to avoid excessive loss of curtain surface, requiring considerable tensioning force. Manual operation without properly monitoring the end position may result in the user leaving the curtain in its fully extended but improperly pre-tensioned position, which could lead to unwanted curtain movement in strong winds.
[0005] In EP 0 865 577B1, however, there is a considerable preload over the entire travel path, which loads the bearings and deflection rollers during adjustment.
[0006] Further sun protection systems are known from EP 3 527 741 A1, JP 2015 224452 A, EP 1 273 734 B1 and GB 2 535 506 A.
[0007] The object of the present invention is to improve a sun protection system in such a way that the maximum curtain area is available and low driving forces are required.
[0008] According to the invention, the object is achieved by a sun protection system of the type specified in claim 1, in which the at least one winding roller has a winding diameter which, in an intermediate position of the at least one curtain part between the retracted and the extended end position, corresponds to the fabric bale diameter on the winding shaft in this intermediate position and which, in a region of the travel path adjoining this position up to the extended end position of the at least one curtain part, is larger than the respective fabric bale diameter of the at least one curtain part on the winding shaft.
[0009] The solution according to the invention offers the advantage of the winding diameter of the winding roll being matched to an intermediate position that, as the end position is approached, a greater length of the tension member is wound onto the at least one winding roll in relation to the released fabric length of the at least one curtain part, so that an effective shortening of the tension member occurs, which is used to increase tension in the tensioning device. The effective winding diameter of the winding shaft here means the cloth bale diameter of the fabric layers wound onto the winding shaft in a specific extended state of the at least one curtain part, wherein in the fully wound state of the at least one curtain part, the effective winding diameter of the curtain part on the winding shaft is correspondingly larger than the diameter of the winding roll.
[0010] Because the diameter of the winding roll is dimensioned to correspond to the average diameter of a cloth bale, the tensioning system can be designed so that the lowest tensioning force is not achieved in the retracted end position, but rather in an intermediate position where the winding roll diameter corresponds to the effective winding diameter of the partially wound cloth bale. This measure achieves increased tensioning of the tensioning element even in the retracted end position, preventing unsightly sagging.
[0011] The intermediate position does not have to be in the middle between the end positions but can be designed as required.
[0012] According to the invention, the winding roll has an adjustable base diameter so that it can be adapted to the respective system configuration. This results in the advantage that the base diameter can be optimally set to the desired intermediate position without having to keep a special winding roll on hand for different extension lengths or curtain thicknesses of an otherwise identical system. Correction is also possible for maintenance and correction purposes. The base diameter refers to the diameter of the winding roll when the pull rope is unwound, whereby this can be constant or designed with a different radius over the length of the winding roll. A change in the effective winding diameter, as explained above, can also be implemented with this solution and can be combined with all variants of the invention.
[0013] The adjustable winding roller provides that the base diameter is formed by a plurality of longitudinal elements evenly distributed around the circumference, each of which can be fixed at different radial positions on the walls of the winding roller. The longitudinal elements, which can be simple rods, for example, form a polygon, around whose circumference the traction cable can then be wound with an adjustable average winding diameter. With a plurality of rods or other longitudinal elements, the fact that the circumference is not exactly circular is irrelevant.
[0014] Furthermore, the walls are provided with elongated holes for securing the longitudinal elements, which extend in the circumferential direction at varying distances from the rotation axis. This design makes it possible to change the distance of the longitudinal elements from the rotation axis by adjusting the position of the longitudinal elements in the elongated holes, in which they are clamped, for example, using screws. This allows the base diameter to be adjusted as at least the initial winding diameter.
[0015] In addition, the walls on both sides of the winding roll each consist of two discs which, when released, can be rotated relative to each other and whose elongated holes have opposite orientations, with the longitudinal elements being arranged at the interface in the elongated holes of both discs.
[0016] This has the particular advantage that the longitudinal elements initially sit loosely in the oblong holes (two on each side of the winding roll) and then the distance of the longitudinal elements from the longitudinal axis can be adjusted by turning the two discs on the walls relative to each other. The adjustment is then carried out synchronously for all longitudinal elements, so that the laborious individual adjustment of all longitudinal elements is no longer necessary. As soon as the desired position is reached, the longitudinal elements are clamped in the corresponding positions. It is preferable here that only the two discs are connected to one another in a rotationally rigid manner, with the longitudinal elements then also being fixed at the intersection point of the two oblong holes. This is considerably easier than clamping all of the longitudinal elements individually to the discs, although this is also possible in principle.
[0017] The weight of the blind plays a role in that it always exerts a certain basic tension on the tensioning device as long as the ends are fixed. However, its own weight is not sufficient to generate sufficient tension for the stretched sun protection blind. Nevertheless, it can be sufficient to maintain a certain low tension in the intermediate position, which is advantageous for proper winding and unwinding. When the sun protection blind is fully wound up, the contribution of the weight is reduced because the blind weight is then absorbed by the winding shaft bearings and only the tensioning device itself maintains a certain residual tension, so it is advantageous that the tensioning force built up by the tensioning device is present in this blind position.
[0018] The winding roll is preferably located coaxially on the winding shaft, but can also be arranged on a separate shaft that is coupled to the winding shaft via a gear.
[0019] The pulling element is preferably designed as a pulling cable over a significant part of its length or entirely, but other flexible pulling elements can also be used. The pulling system can easily be adjusted so that the desired tension is reached when the maximum extension length is reached. This provides the user with good orientation, particularly when the drive is operated manually, and prevents the user from ending the extension process prematurely. This can be achieved using an electric drive with a simple limit switch or a manual hand crank as the drive, i.e. there is true single-point operation and no multiple processes where adjusting and tensioning the systems have to be carried out by separate devices.
[0020] A first possibility for integrating a tensioning device into the tensioning system is to provide length compensation for the tensioning element by means of an elastic design of the at least one tensioning element itself and / or by means of an elastic element in the at least one tensioning element. Both variants therefore provide for an elastic change in the length of the tensioning element itself to define the tensioning device.
[0021] Alternatively, or possibly also in addition, an elastic length compensation device can be provided at a deflection point of the at least one tension member. In this solution, which is particularly suitable for awnings with freely tensioned and generally multiply deflected tension members, the tensioning path is maintained by the elastic deflection points of the tension member, in that the length of the guide path for the tension member can be elastically changed by changing the position of the at least one deflection point.
[0022] The elastic length compensation can, for example, be designed in such a way that at least one deflection roller is provided at the deflection point with the length compensation, which is tensioned at a fixed point via the elastic length compensation, wherein the tensioning device exerts a tensioning force on the tension member at least in a travel range in front of and in the extended position of the associated curtain part, which tensioning force is added to a tensioning force built up by the curtain weight.
[0023] In a first preferred further embodiment of the invention, it can be provided that the winding diameter of the winding roll remains constant over the travel range of the at least one curtain part. According to the inventive specifications, this means that the winding roll diameter corresponds to an average cloth bale diameter, whereby the winding roll diameter defines the extended position of the at least one curtain part in which the minimum force is applied and the tension forces that should be present in the two end positions.
[0024] In an alternative embodiment of the invention, it can be provided that the effective winding diameter of the at least one winding roll changes over the travel path of the at least one curtain part.
[0025] This allows for even more targeted adjustment of the tension force in the various blind positions. The travel range, where tension is particularly low, can be expanded by using a non-constant winding diameter, allowing for more targeted adjustment of the tension forces resulting in the end positions.
[0026] In terms of construction, this can be implemented, for example, by changing the effective winding diameter of at least one winding roll by layers of the tension element wound on top of one another.
[0027] A more complex design solution with a particularly precisely defined winding diameter can provide for the at least one winding roller to have an axial extension with a winding diameter that varies along this axial extension. This can be achieved, for example, by the defined placement of the end of the tension member in a circumferential groove on the outer circumference of the winding roller.
[0028] As already mentioned, the sun protection system according to the invention is particularly suitable for use as a sun sail, whereby the sun sail can be designed with two triangular curtain sections, each of which has a tension cable attached to the curtain side, which forms part of the tension element. The two curtain sections are wound together in alternating layers on a winding shaft.
[0029] A preferred embodiment of the tension system of such a sun sail can provide that the two tension cables on the curtain side are each guided over a first deflection pulley, which forms a common deflection device that is held in place by the elastic length compensation.
[0030] To simplify the pulling system and reduce the number of pulling cables to be guided, it can be advantageous for the two pulling cables on the curtain side to be connected at a connection point to a pulling cable on the winding roller side, which is guided to a single winding roller as a further component of the pulling element.
[0031] In order to enable length compensation between the two parts of the curtain, a preferred development of the invention provides that the two pull ropes on the curtain side are connected to one another and guided via a third deflection roller which is held on the pull rope on the winding roller side.
[0032] Further features, details, and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the wording of the claims and from the exemplary embodiment described below with reference to the drawings. They show: Fig. 1 a view of a sun protection system designed as a sun sail with two triangular curtain parts; Fig. 2 a detailed view of Fig. 1 , which shows the traction system above a winding shaft enlarged; Fig. 3 a further enlarged, sectional view of the winding shaft in the area of a winding roller with fully extended curtain parts; Fig. 4 a partial longitudinal section of the winding shaft with extended curtain parts; Fig. 5 a sectional view similar Fig. 3 in an intermediate position of the curtain parts, in which the cloth bale diameter corresponds to the winding roll diameter; Fig. 6 a partial longitudinal section of the winding shaft similar Fig. 4in the intermediate position; Fig. 7 a partial view of the winding shaft with an adjustable winding roller; Fig. 8 an exploded view of the winding roller from Fig. 7 ; Fig. 9 an oblique view of the winding roll from Fig. 8 ; Fig.10 a front view of the winding roll according to Fig. 9 with set maximum winding diameter; Fig. 11 a front view of the winding roll after Fig. 9 with set minimum winding diameter.
[0033] In Fig. 1 A sun protection system designed as a sun sail 10 is shown in an oblique view. In the illustrated embodiment, the sun sail has two triangular curtain parts 12, 14, the tips 16, 18 of which form the free end of the respective curtain part 12, 14.
[0034] The curtain parts 12, 14 can be wound onto a central winding shaft 20, which, in the illustrated embodiment, is rotatable by means of a manual crank drive 22. Only one eyelet 24 of this crank drive is shown for a hand crank to be hooked into it. The gear mechanism (not visible) is designed to be self-locking, so that moments acting on the winding shaft 20 due to tensile forces on the curtain tips 16, 18 cannot twist them.
[0035] Instead of a manual drive, an electric drive can also be provided, e.g. in the form of a tubular motor located in the winding shaft.
[0036] The winding shaft 20 is rotatably mounted between two first support posts 26, 28, with the sun sail having two further second support posts 30, 32. A first deflection pulley 34, 36 is attached to each of the second support posts 30, 32, each of which serves to deflect a first, curtain-side tension cable 38, 40, which is connected to the curtain tips 16, 18. The two curtain-side tension cables 38, 40 are components of a tension member that connects the two curtain tips 16, 18 to a winding pulley 42 arranged coaxially and torsionally rigidly on the winding shaft 20, so that a circumferential tension system is formed in a combination consisting of the two curtain parts 12, 14 and the tension member.
[0037] The two curtain-side tension cables 38, 40 are deflected by the two first deflection pulleys 34, 36 to a pair of adjacently mounted second deflection pulleys 44, 46, which are held by a common holder 48 via a tensioning device 50 on one of the two support posts 26 for the winding shaft 20. The tensioning device 50 essentially consists of two tension-loaded coil springs 52 and is intended to build up a desired tension in the entire tension system. In the Fig. 1 In the state shown with the curtain parts 12, 14 extended to the maximum, the tensioning device 50 with the coil springs 52 is maximally pre-tensioned, so that the tension member with the curtain-side tension cables 38, 40 is correspondingly maximally tensioned and the curtain parts 12, 14 are tightened so that they have a good optical appearance and are insensitive to attacking gusts of wind.
[0038] The pair of second deflection pulleys 44, 46 deflects the curtain-side tension cables 38, 40 such that they are guided at a close distance to a third deflection pulley 54, where they are connected to each other. This connection of the two curtain-side tension cables via the third deflection pulley 54, which is part of the tension system and moves with the tension system when the length of the two curtain sections 12, 14 is adjusted, allows for length compensation between the two curtain sections 12, 14, e.g., in the event of unforeseen movement due to a gust of wind or the like.
[0039] The traction element continues via the third deflection pulley 54 and a winding-roller-side traction cable 56 attached thereto to the winding roller 42, to which the winding-roller-side traction cable 56 is attached at its end. The winding-roller-side traction cable 56 initially runs parallel to the winding shaft 20 and is then guided via a fourth deflection pulley 58 to the winding roller, which is held on the support post 28 opposite the support post 26 provided for holding the tensioning device 50.
[0040] Figs. 3 and 4 show in further enlargement details of the winding roller 42 with completely unwound curtain parts 12, 14. The effective winding diameter of the winding shaft 20 practically corresponds to its diameter, since the curtain fabric layers 60 are almost completely unwound. Fig. 4that the winding diameter 62 of the winding roller 42 is larger than the effective winding diameter of the winding shaft 20. This has the consequence that when the curtain is released into this position, a greater length of the winding roller-side pull rope 56 is wound up than the length of the fabric is output from the winding shaft 20. This means that the effective length of the pulling element is shortened, which can only be compensated for by the third deflection roller 54 moving away from its attachment point on the support post 26 and in the process further tensioning the coil springs 52, so that the fabric tension also increases and reaches its maximum in the extended end position.
[0041] When retracting the curtain parts 12, 14, a greater length of tension cable 56 is initially released from the winding roller 42 per rotation angle than the length of the curtain wound onto the winding shaft 20. As a result, the tension element is relieved of load due to its overall increase in length, the tension springs 52 yield, and the third deflection roller 54 moves toward the support post 26.
[0042] Since the effective winding diameter of the winding shaft 20 is determined by the number of wound layers 60 of curtain fabric, it increases when the curtain parts 12, 14 are retracted, so that the length change per angle of rotation in the tension element decreases. In the embodiment shown, the decrease in the curtain tension initially continues up to the Figs. 5 and 6The intermediate position of the curtain parts 12, 14 shown in the figure continues. The winding roll diameter 62 then approximately corresponds to the effective winding diameter of the winding shaft 20 with the wound fabric layers. If the tensioning device 50 is designed such that it is completely relieved of load in this intermediate position, the remaining pretension of the tension system is generated exclusively by the weight of the curtain acting in this intermediate position.
[0043] Due to the design, which allows the adjustment of the two diameters of the winding roll and the fabric bale diameter, which changes when adjusting the curtain length, in a partially extended area, it is possible to tighten the tension element in the retracted end position, while the minimum tension in the tension element is achieved in the described intermediate position. This is used to minimize operating forces during adjustment in combination with tightening the tension element in the retracted end position.
[0044] If the same solar sail mechanism is to be used for different system configurations, for example, with different extension lengths, it may be advisable or even necessary to adjust the winding roller diameter to suit the changed conditions. This can be achieved by using a customized winding roller with a suitable base diameter, onto which the traction cable is then wound in the manner described above.
[0045] A more flexible solution to this problem, which can also be used with any other winding device independent of the sun protection system described here, is Fig. 7 to 11 shown.
[0046] Fig. 7 shows the installation position of the winding roll 142 corresponding to the previously shown winding roll 42 (see e.g. Fig. 4, which is replaced by the winding roller 142 with a variable base diameter. The traction cable and the remaining system components are arranged in Fig. 7 been omitted in Fig. 8 to 11 only the winding roll 142 itself is shown.
[0047] The winding roll 142 is constructed in several parts. It has a first and a second wall 144 and 146, each consisting of a small inner disc 148, 150 and a larger outer disc 152, 154. The walls 144, 146 are rigidly connected to the winding shaft 20. To form a base diameter 156 between the walls 144, 146, a plurality of rods 160 are arranged at an equal but adjustable distance from the rotational axis of the winding roll 142.
[0048] The discs 148, 150, 152, 154 each have a number of elongated holes 162, 164, 166, 168 corresponding to the number of rods 160, wherein the elongated holes extend in the circumferential direction at varying distances from the rotational axis of the winding roller 142. In the exemplary embodiment presented here, the elongated holes are curved, with the curvatures of the elongated holes 162, 164 of the smaller discs 148, 150 being opposite to the curvatures of the elongated holes 166, 168 of the larger discs.
[0049] Due to the opposing curvatures, when the two discs overlap, cut openings are created into which the rods 160 with tapered tips 170 are inserted. The diameter of the tips 170 is smaller, and the diameter of the shafts 172 of the rods is larger than the width of the elongated holes, so that the shoulders 174 between the shafts and the tips 170 can be supported on the edges of the elongated holes 162, 164 of the smaller discs 148, 150.
[0050] Internal threads 176 are formed in the tips 170, into which fastening screws 178 are screwed. In the illustrated embodiment, these provide support to prevent the winding roll 142 from falling apart, but do not clamp the rods 160 against the discs. Rather, a certain amount of play is deliberately provided, allowing the position of the tips in the elongated holes to be adjusted.
[0051] The smaller and larger discs are each designed to be rotatable relative to one another, with means provided for rigidly securing the two discs to one another. The two smaller discs 148, 150 are permanently rigidly connected to one another via a connecting rod 186.
[0052] The means for torsionally rigidly securing the two pairs of discs to one another are designed here as a series of axial bores 180 distributed over the circumference and arranged on a specific radius on the outer edge of the larger discs 152, 154, and a tab 182 arranged on the outer edge of each of the smaller discs 148, 150, each having a bore 184 which lies on the same radius as the axial bores 180 in the larger discs 152, 154. The bores 184 of the tabs 182 can be secured in an axial bore by means of captively attached pins (not shown), so that the discs and thus also the pins are fixed as a composite.
[0053] When the pins are released, the discs can be rotated relative to each other, whereby the intersections of the slots can be adjusted between a radially maximum inner position, which is defined by the inner ends of the slots (see Fig. 11 ), and a radially outermost position, which is defined by the outer ends of the slots (see Fig. 10 ) are adjustable.
[0054] The rods define a base diameter onto which the traction cable can be wound. This diameter can be adjusted as described above, allowing an optimal average base diameter to be set for the respective system.
[0055] Further adjustments of the tension force across the travel range of the curtain parts 12, 14 between the end positions can be achieved by varying the diameter of the winding roller, for example, if the winding roller has a conical winding area. Other geometric shapes of the winding area can also be implemented. Such solutions can also be combined with the previously described winding roller 142 with an adjustable base diameter.
