Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a refrigeration appliance, in particular a household refrigeration appliance such as a refrigerator or a freezer, according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] Such refrigeration appliances have a cooling chamber defined by side walls and a rear wall, as well as at least one shelf which is mounted so that it can be pulled out and is supported on at least one rib, rail or bar projecting from a side wall into the cooling chamber. Some appliances have a sliding cam on the shelf, and a stop cam on the at least one rib. The arrangement is such that when the shelf is pulled out of the cooling chamber, the sliding cam comes into contact with the stop cam, thus limiting the extension or pull-out movement of the shelf. To remove the shelf, the shelf is lifted and the cams on the side disengage. The removal of the shelf cannot therefore be achieved in one movement by pulling it out, but requires two separate movements (pulling and lifting).
[0003] In describing this invention, references to directions such as "top," "bottom," "front," and "rear" are based on a conventional refrigeration appliance installation, with a door at the front and its rear panel at the rear. References such as "left" and "right" refer to the representation chosen in the drawing.
[0004] The sliding cam is attached to one side of the shelf facing a side wall of the refrigeration appliance. Typically, the sliding cam is molded onto the shelf, or the shelf is provided with a side overmolding that contains the sliding cam. Since the back of the shelf is usually also overmolding, because an upwardly projecting section is required on this back to ensure that the refrigerated goods on the shelf do not come too close to the rear wall of the refrigeration appliance and could freeze to it, at least three sides of the shelf must be overmolding. This increases the complexity and therefore the cost of the manufacturing process for each shelf.

[0010] US Patent No. 5,788,094 A shows a shelf for a refrigerator that can slide on a slide rail. To limit the extension movement, the shelf has H-shaped stop elements.
[0011] The object of the present invention is to provide a refrigeration appliance with a pull-out shelf which does not have the aforementioned disadvantages and which can be manufactured simply and inexpensively.
[0012] This object is achieved with a refrigeration device according to claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
[0013] According to the invention, in a refrigeration appliance as described at the outset, the arrangement is such that a hook is provided on the shelf, which hook can engage around the at least one rib in the vertical direction - at least substantially - in a form-fitting manner and, if desired, can be brought out of engagement with the at least one rib. In addition, the sliding cam and the hook are arranged in the region of the rear of the shelf. This means that only the rear needs to be designed in such a way that the hook and the sliding cam can be arranged thereon. This also applies if the shelf is to be provided with a hook and a sliding cam on both its left and right sides. If these components are injection-molded, therefore only the rear of the shelf needs to be injection-molded and no longer both sides. Thus, both the means for the stop when the shelf is pulled out and the means for ensuring that the rear of the shelf does not tip upwards away from the rib when pulled out, guaranteed by the hook, are arranged together on the rear of the shelf. A further advantage is that this type of design can be used even if the shelf is completely overmolded or, for example, only its left side, right side, and rear side are overmolded. This provides increased flexibility in the design of the shelf edges.
[0014] Since the hook ensures that the shelf does not accidentally tip over when pulled out, there is no need for an additional rib on the side wall of the refrigeration appliance to support the shelf not only from below but also from above. Such an additional rib would otherwise be required for all refrigeration appliances where a hook or similar device is not used to prevent the shelf from accidentally tipping over when pulled out.
[0015] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the arrangement is such that the hook can be disengaged from the rib by tilting the front of the shelf upward—thus counteracting the effect of gravity of any refrigerated goods placed on it. Thus, the shelf cannot accidentally tip over when pulled out, but must be deliberately lifted by a user to allow it to be completely removed from the refrigerator compartment.
[0016] According to the invention, the sliding cam and the hook are integrated into a strip attached to the rear of the shelf. This allows the sliding cams and hooks to be attached to the shelf as a single piece, for example, by injection molding, even if they are to be attached to both the left and right sides of the shelf. It is preferred if the strip also comprises an upwardly projecting section, which can reliably prevent refrigerated goods placed on the shelf from coming too close to the rear wall of the refrigeration appliance, which, depending on the design of the refrigeration appliance, is particularly cold due to a refrigeration device mounted adjacent to it.
[0017] A particularly simple arrangement results when the stop cam is designed as a projection which projects downwards from the top of the rib, and the sliding cam is designed as a projection which projects downwards from the underside of the shelf.
[0018] It can be advantageous if the hook is positioned further back than the sliding cam. This places the hook as far back as possible from the viewer's field of vision.
[0019] It is advantageous if the hook has a section that projects downwards from the shelf and can therefore grip the rib well in the vertical direction. It is also advantageous if this section also projects backwards so that the point of application of the force that may be exerted in a vertical direction when the shelf is pulled out of the cold storage room is as far back as possible. Preferably, the sliding cam and the hook are integrated into a strip that is attached to the back of the shelf. This means that the sliding cams and hooks can be attached to the shelf as a single piece, for example by injection molding, even if they are to be attached to both the left and right sides of the shelf. It is preferred if the strip also comprises an upwardly projecting section, with the aid of which it can be reliably prevented that refrigerated goods placed on the shelf come too close to the rear wall of the refrigeration appliance, which, depending on the design of the refrigeration appliance, is particularly cold due to a refrigeration device installed adjacent to it.
[0020] A particularly simple arrangement results when the stop cam is designed as a projection which projects downwards from the top of the rib, and the sliding cam is designed as a projection which projects downwards from the underside of the shelf.
[0021] It can be advantageous if the hook is positioned further back than the sliding cam. This places the hook as far back as possible from the viewer's field of vision.
[0022] To ensure the shelf can be easily removed from the refrigerator compartment after the sliding cam has been pulled out to its maximum extent, with the sliding cam in contact with the stop cam, it is advantageous if the rib in this area—i.e., in the area of the stop cam—has a section on its underside that recedes upwards, thus having a lower height. This can be achieved, for example, in the form of a step or flattening.
[0023] According to a further aspect of the invention, a particularly simple complete removal of the shelf from the cooling chamber is possible if the rib in the area of the stop cam - i.e. on its underside - has a first section which tapers in height from back to front, which thus forms an inclined surface on its underside, i.e. the rib has the smallest height at its front end and becomes increasingly higher as the inclined surface progresses towards the rear. The arrangement is such that the sliding cam of the shelf, which has come into contact with the stop cam of the rib during the shelf extension process, can be lifted upwards over the stop cam and moved outwards over it in both vertical and horizontal directions. This occurs after the front end of the extended shelf has been pivoted upwards. This pivoting action moves the hook into the area of the inclined surface, thus creating sufficient "space" for the sliding cam to be lifted over the stop cam. In this way, the shelf can be removed by means of a fluid movement, which only requires a conscious user to perform: pivoting the front of the shelf upwards and lifting the back of the shelf with the sliding cam over the stop cam.
[0024] It is advantageous if the rib—viewed from the front—does not have a rectangular or square cross-section, but rather extends further into the cooling chamber from bottom to top. In other words, a second section is formed on the underside of the rib, tapering in width from top to bottom and forming a second inclined surface on its underside. The underside of the hook is then correspondingly designed to have an engagement section there, the upper side of which is substantially parallel to the second inclined surface.
[0025] The stability of the shelf during removal from the refrigerator compartment can be improved by providing a second rib on the side wall, spaced horizontally from the first rib and located closer to the door of the refrigerator, on which the shelf rests. To achieve this, the top of the second rib must be substantially flush with the top of the first rib. There is enough space between the first and second ribs for the "extended" hook to be moved upwards in this space, allowing the shelf to be moved upwards after it has been pulled out and pivoted upwards, allowing the shelf to be completely removed from the refrigerator compartment.
[0026] It is preferred that the shelf and the respective design or contour of the respective side walls with regard to the sliding cams, stop cams, and hooks be symmetrical to a center plane of the refrigeration appliance parallel to the side walls. In other words, the respective shelf is designed identically on both sides at its rear, thereby providing better and more stable guidance and securing it to the respective ribs.
[0027] A particularly simple design and handling is achieved by the fact that the rib has a sliding surface on each upper side on which the underside of the sliding cam can be moved in a sliding manner.
[0028] According to an alternative embodiment, the hook does not completely engage the rib in a vertical direction and rests with a hook on the underside of the rib, but engages the rib from the side - i.e. horizontally. For this purpose, the rib has a section extending horizontally from front to back, in which a groove extending horizontally from front to back is provided. The hook is arranged in the area of the underside of the sliding cam and engages horizontally into the groove as a projection protruding horizontally from the sliding cam. Thus, the hook and the sliding cam are formed as a single piece. In other words, the underside of this single piece forms the sliding cam, which rests on the rib and slides on it, and at the same time this underside also forms the hook that engages in the groove of the rib.It is of course important here that the groove is essentially closed in the vertical direction so that the hook cannot be moved upwards. Only in the area of the stop cam does the groove have an upwardly open opening through which the hook can be moved upwards. This opening is designed in such a way that the hook can only be moved out of it by means of a pivoting movement of the front of the shelf upwards and not, for example, by a pivoting movement of the shelf downwards (which could otherwise happen unintentionally). For this purpose, a corresponding projection and a corresponding bevel are provided on the top of the opening, which only allow the hook to be removed from the opening by means of the pivoting movement described above.
[0029] It is advantageous if the sliding cam and the hook are made of PU (polyurethane), PE (polyethylene), PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and / or POM (polyoxymethylene), whereby attachment by injection molding to the shelf is particularly preferred.
[0030] In practice, it has proven advantageous if the shelf is designed as a continuous storage surface, which is preferably made of glass or polyacrylic.
[0031] Further advantages, features, and special features will become apparent from the following detailed description of various embodiments of the refrigeration device according to the invention. They show: Fig. 1 shows the left side wall of a first embodiment of a refrigeration device according to the invention, viewed diagonally from the bottom right in a perspective view; Fig. 2 shows the left side wall of the first embodiment of the refrigeration device according to the invention, viewed diagonally from the top right in a perspective view; Fig. 3 shows the first embodiment in side view with the shelf inserted; Fig. 3b shows a view similar to Fig. 3a , but with the shelf pulled out; Fig. 4 a detailed view of the first embodiment in sectional view from the front; Fig. 5a - 5c different stages when threading the shelf or the hook out of the rib; Fig. 6 one of the Fig. 3a similar representation of a second embodiment of the refrigeration device according to the invention; Fig. 7 one of the Fig. 5a similar representation of a third embodiment of the invention; Fig. 8 one of the Fig. 4 Similar representation of a fourth embodiment of the refrigeration device according to the invention; and Fig. 9 shows the fourth embodiment of the refrigeration device according to the invention in side view.
[0032] In the Fig. 1 und 2 1 shows a perspective view of the side wall 11 of a refrigeration appliance 10 according to the invention with a shelf 30. Two ribs 13 and 19 serve to support and guide the shelf 30, the exact design of which will be described in detail later. In order to be able to attach the shelf at different heights in the cooling chamber of the refrigeration appliance 10, several of these ribs 13 and 19 are arranged one above the other, whereby for the sake of clarity Fig. 1 only two pairs of these ribs 13 and 19 are shown. It goes without saying that both in this and all embodiments described below, the right side wall 11 of the refrigeration appliance 10 according to the invention and the right side of the shelf 30 located there can be designed analogously or symmetrically to a vertically extending center plane of the refrigeration appliance 10, on the one hand to achieve a uniform design of the cooling chamber 12 of the refrigeration appliance and, on the other hand, to design the guidance and support of the shelf 30 as optimally as possible.
[0033] A strip 33 is molded onto the rear side 31 of the shelf 30, comprising a section 34 that projects essentially vertically upwards. This section 34 represents a stop for refrigerated goods, preventing them from moving too far back on the shelf 30 or too close to the rear wall of the refrigeration appliance 10. The strip 33 also comprises a hook 37 on its underside, which has a section 37a projecting downwards from the strip 33 and an engagement section 38 projecting from the lower end of the section 37a, which faces the underside of the first rib 13 with its upper side 39 and, if necessary, comes into contact with this first rib 13.
[0034] The Fig. 3a und 3b show the first embodiment from the side, with the (not shown) side wall of the refrigeration appliance on the side of the drawing plane facing the viewer. The strip 33 with the upwardly projecting section 34 and the hook 37 are located here on the right-hand side of the drawing. A sliding cam 35 is formed on the underside of the strip 33, which surrounds the rear side 31 of the shelf 30, the underside 36 of which (cf. Fig. 5b ) rests on the upper side of the first rib 13, which forms a sliding surface 13b, and can slide thereon. From the illustration of Fig. 3a und 3b It can be seen that the section 37a of the hook 37 not only projects downwards, but also backwards, i.e., towards the rear wall of the refrigeration device 10. As a result, the engagement section 38 of the hook 37 is located as far back as possible on the first rib 13. According to the drawing, the angle of the downwardly projecting section 37a of the hook 37 to the vertical is approximately 30°, but is of course not limited to this. As also shown in Fig. 3a und 3b As can be seen, the upper side 39 of the engagement section 38 does not lie directly against the underside of the first rib 13, but is located at a short distance therefrom. However, as soon as the shelf 30 is lifted upwards at its rear side 31, the upper side 39 of the engagement section 38 can come into contact with the underside of the first rib 13.
[0035] When the shelf 30 is pulled out of the cooling chamber 12, for example, by pulling on its front side 32, the sliding cam 35 comes into contact with a stop cam 14 provided at the front end of the rib 13. This stop of the sliding cam 35 against the stop cam 14 ensures that the shelf 30 cannot be pulled out too far. As can be seen from the Fig. 3a und 3b As can be seen, the shelf 30 does not rest on the upper side of the stop cam 14, but only on the second rib 19 located here to the left of the first rib 13 and by means of the sliding cam 35 on the sliding surface 13b of the first rib 13.
[0036] According to the presentation in Fig. 4 The engagement section 38 of the hook 37 does not extend exactly horizontally toward the side wall 11, but rather its upper side 39 is inclined relative to the horizontal. Accordingly, the underside of the rib 13 is also not horizontal, but rather has a second section 13a on its underside, which forms a second inclined surface 18. In a "normal" position of the shelf 30 arranged in the refrigeration chamber, the inclined surface 18 and the upper side 39 of the engagement section 38 are approximately parallel to one another. Of course, the invention is not limited to this configuration of the underside of the rib 13 and the upper side 39 of the engagement section 38. For example, the underside of the rib 13 could also be inclined much more gently or even horizontally.
[0037] To install the shelf 30 in the Fig. 5a shown position completely from the cooling chamber of the cooling device 10, the front end 32 of the shelf 30 must be as shown in Fig. 5b can be pivoted upwards by approximately 15°. Since, on the one hand, an inclined surface 16 is provided on the underside of the front end of the rib 13, which continues backwards beyond the stop cam 14, and, on the other hand, there is a certain amount of downward play towards the top side 39 of the engagement section 38, the hook 37 does not hinder this pivoting process, but rather the top side 39 of the engagement section 38 comes to lie approximately parallel to the inclined surface 16, which has an angle of approximately 15° to the horizontal. Of course, this is only to be regarded as an example of the design of the inclined surface 16, to which the present invention is not limited. After pivoting the shelf 30, it can be raised a little further upwards until the sliding cam 35 is located above the stop cam 14 and the shelf 30 can be pulled out unhindered forwards - i.e., in the horizontal direction. This situation is in Fig. 5c shown.
[0038] The shelf 30 is reinserted in the reverse direction, namely by sliding the sliding cam 35 backward over the stop cam 14, with the front end 32 of the shelf pivoted upward, lowering the shelf 30 downward, and pivoting the front end 32 of the shelf 30 back downward until the shelf 30 is approximately horizontal and additionally rests on the second rib 19. The shelf 30 can then be pushed backward into the cooling chamber.
[0039] Fig. 6 represents a second embodiment of the refrigeration device according to the invention. In this embodiment, as well as in all subsequent embodiments, the same reference numerals designate the same elements unless otherwise stated. To avoid unnecessary repetition, only the differences from the first embodiment will be described. In this second embodiment, no separate second rib 19 is provided; instead, the first (and thus only) rib 13" is extended forward beyond the stop cam 14. The "unthreading" of the shelf 30 takes place in a similar manner to the first embodiment. After the sliding cam 35 has been moved outward over the stop cam 14, during which time the engagement section 38 has moved along the inclined surface 16, the shelf 30 can be completely pulled out of the refrigerator compartment. This is possible because the rib 13" in the area in front of the stop cam 14 has a lower height than the distance between the underside of the sliding cam 35 and the top side 39 of the engagement section 38. However, the shelf 30 can only be removed from the cooling chamber by further pulling it out beyond the front part of the rib 13", whereas in the first embodiment it is also possible to raise the shelf 30 with its rear end even further after the hook 37 has passed the stop cam 14, until the hook 37 can be moved past the front rib 19 and out of the cooling chamber of the refrigeration appliance.
[0040] Fig. 7 shows a third embodiment of the refrigeration device according to the invention, which differs from the first embodiment in the design of the front region of the rib 13. In the third embodiment, no inclined surface is provided at the front end of the rib 13, but rather the underside of the rib 13 is designed as an upwardly receding section 17. In this front section 17, a step is thus formed on the underside of the rib 13. This step also enables the pivoting process of the front end 32 of the shelf 30, described in detail in connection with the first embodiment, in order to be able to completely remove the shelf 30 from the cooling chamber.
[0041] In Fig. 8 A fourth embodiment of the invention is shown. This fourth embodiment differs from the first embodiment in the design of the rib 13' and the sliding cam 35' as well as the hook 37'. The rib 13' has a section 13c that extends horizontally from back to front and in which a groove 13d extending from back to front is provided. This groove 13d is in the horizontal direction, i.e. from the side (in Fig. 8 (from the right). As shown in Fig. 8 The underside of the sliding cam 35' rests on the underside of the groove 13d and slides thereon. A projection 37' protrudes from the lower area of the sliding cam 35', which projects into the groove 13d and acts as a hook. The projection or hook 37' cannot be moved upward because it is prevented from doing so by the upper end of the groove 13d. It should be noted that here the sliding cam 35', on the one hand, and the hook 37', on the other, are formed as a single part.
[0042] The groove 13d is essentially closed in the vertical direction. "Essentially closed in the vertical direction" here means that the groove 13d is not open upwards over most of its length, but has an upwardly open opening only in the area of the stop cam 14'. This opening is dimensioned such that the sliding cam 35' with the hook 37' can only be moved out of this opening by a rotational movement, which is effected by correspondingly pivoting the front end 32 of the shelf 30 upwards. This can be done as shown in Fig. 9 For example, this can be achieved by limiting or restricting the front end of this opening by a corresponding projection 13e of the stop cam 14', while widening the rear end of the opening by a bevel 13f.
[0043] All embodiments of the present invention are characterized in that the extension, stop and removal of the shelf can be carried out very easily and not prone to failure by appropriate design of the sliding cam, the hook, the stop cam and the rib.
[0044] It should be noted that the features of the invention described with reference to individual embodiments, such as the type and configuration of the stop and slide cams, hooks, and ribs, may also be present in other embodiments. Therefore, the present invention should not be considered limited to the specific disclosed embodiments, but should include all embodiments within the scope of the appended claims. BEZUGSZEICHENLISTE
