AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing capsule designs for mixing multiple substances require separate compartments and complex mechanisms, leading to increased size and complexity, which limits their compactness and ease of use for custom-made, personalized formulations.

Method used

A capsule with a single chamber featuring a piston and mixer element, where the piston has cavities for storing ingredients, allowing for mixing without separate compartments, using frangible containers and sharp tips for controlled release and mixing, and a helical mixer rod for efficient mixing.

Benefits of technology

Enables compact, user-friendly mixing of substances with precise control over ingredient ratios and types, facilitating personalized formulations and reducing the need for external mixing devices.

Abstract

A capsule for mixing substances includes a chamber having first and second ends. A piston is fitted in the chamber. The piston has a proximal end facing the first end, and a distal end facing the second end. A mixer element is arranged within the chamber between the piston and the second end. The mixer element is disposed at a distal end of a mixer rod. The piston has an aperture through which the mixer rod passes. The piston and mixer element are separately displaceable relative to the first and second ends and relative to each other. The piston includes a plurality of cavities within the piston, such that one cavity is separated from another cavity and filled with a different ingredient substance.
