Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a woodworking device for processing round timber aligned along a longitudinal direction of the woodworking device, comprising a machine frame, a processing portal mounted on the machine frame for movement at least in the longitudinal direction, and a holding device arranged on the machine frame for holding the round timber to the machine frame. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a woodworking system comprising such a woodworking device and a method for processing round timber.
[0002] Examples of woodworking devices are given in the documents
[0003] WO 2018 / 190731 A1 , US 5,806,401 , ES 2 382 858 A1 , US 5,109,899, WO 2020 / 079513 A1 , CA 2,300,037 A1 and US 2019 / 0047170 A1.
[0004] Wood has been used as a material for the manufacture of objects in a variety of ways since time immemorial. Wood processing has evolved continuously. Today, trees are felled using large machines and immediately processed into logs. This log is then transported by truck to sawmills, where the logs are debarked, trimmed, cut, and split into the desired wooden boards. Such sawmills typically employ large machines, each of which performs a specific processing step.
[0005] Such sawmills have several major disadvantages: They require a lot of space, as large amounts of wood must be temporarily stored after various processing steps. Transportation costs are high, as the processed wood must be transported between individual stations. Personnel costs are high, as many different machines and means of transport must be operated separately. Finally, recent months have shown that sawmills have a certain monopoly position, allowing them to dictate the price of sawn boards at will when raw materials are scarce. This creates incalculable price risks for timber construction companies and the end consumer.
[0006] The object of the present invention is therefore to create an improved woodworking device. In particular, the disadvantages mentioned above are to be remedied. Above all, the woodworking device should enable the production of sawn wooden boards in a space-saving, efficient, fast and, if possible, independent of sawmills. This is achieved by a woodworking device having the features of claim 1. Accordingly, the invention provides that the woodworking device has an edging device arranged on the processing portal for edging the round timber, wherein the edging device has at least one milling head. In addition, the woodworking device has a cutting device arranged on the processing portal for cutting the round timber, wherein the cutting device has at least one horizontally aligned saw. Finally, the wood processing device has a splitting device arranged on the processing portal for splitting the round wood, wherein the splitting device has at least one vertically aligned saw.
[0007] The wood processing device thus has a processing gantry, with the trimming device, the cutting device, and the splitting device located on this single processing gantry. This eliminates the need for laborious transport of the processed wood back and forth between the individual processing stations and for intermediate storage; instead, at least three processing steps can be performed in a single processing gantry.
[0008] In other words, the round timber remains clamped to the same machine frame via the holding device throughout, while the trimming, cutting and splitting of the entire round timber into the individual wooden boards is carried out completely.
[0009] The present invention provides a largely automated and labor-saving way of producing wooden boards directly from round wood.
[0010] Preferred embodiments of the present invention are set out in the dependent claims.
[0011] In order to enable automation, a first scanning device is preferably provided for scanning the round timber.
[0012] According to a preferred embodiment, the dimensions of the log can be recorded with the first scanning device. In particular, the (minimum) diameter of the log is recorded with this first scanning device. The length of the log can also be recorded. To enable safe, stable, and consistent processing, the holding device preferably has at least two holding jaws, wherein the holding jaws engage essentially centrally on opposite end faces of the log in a holding position.
[0013] It is particularly preferred that the round timber is mounted on the machine frame via the holding device so that it can rotate, preferably in 90° steps.
[0014] In particular, the holding device has at least one drive motor by which the rotation relative to the machine frame is carried out.
[0015] It should not be ruled out that the machining gantry is stationary and the machine frame moves relative to the machining gantry. However, it is preferred that the machine frame be stationary—for example, in a woodworking shop.
[0016] It is preferably provided that travel rails are arranged on the machine frame, wherein the machining portal is mounted on the travel rails via rollers.
[0017] Particularly preferably, the travel rails run straight and parallel to the longitudinal direction of the woodworking device.
[0018] The terms "horizontal," "vertical," "front," and "rear" used herein refer to the installed state of the woodworking fixture, when the logs are aligned horizontally during processing (and thus the longitudinal direction of the woodworking fixture). If the woodworking fixture is tilted or even vertically aligned during processing, the meaning of these terms changes accordingly depending on the orientation of the woodworking fixture.
[0019] The trimming device should be designed to allow for simple and quick trimming of the round timber. Preferably, the at least one milling head is mounted on the processing gantry so that it can rotate and move linearly, preferably at right angles to the longitudinal direction.
[0020] Additionally, it can be provided that the at least one milling head is mounted on the machining gantry so that it can also be linearly displaced in the horizontal direction. However, it is preferably provided that the holding device is mounted so that it can be linearly displaced in the vertical direction relative to the machining gantry and its trimming device.
[0021] It can be provided that the trimming device has a drive motor arranged on the processing portal for the at least one milling head of the trimming device.
[0022] According to a preferred embodiment, the trimming device comprises at least three milling heads rotatable about a vertical axis of rotation. Each milling head is preferably assigned its own drive motor.
[0023] According to one embodiment, four milling heads can be provided. Specifically, two of the four milling heads can be arranged longitudinally in front of the cutting device, and two of the four milling heads can be arranged longitudinally behind the cutting device. With the two milling heads arranged on each side, it is possible—as with the splitting device—to perform trimming (from both sides of a wooden board) depending on the direction of movement.
[0024] The cutting device should be designed to enable cutting of the round timber. Preferably, the at least one horizontally oriented saw of the cutting device is mounted on the processing gantry for linear displacement, preferably in the vertical direction. Alternatively (or additionally), the holding device can be mounted for linear displacement relative to the processing gantry and its cutting device, preferably in the vertical direction. This allows the different layers to be cut out of the round timber.
[0025] Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the at least one horizontally aligned saw of the cutting device is designed in the form of a circular saw or a band saw.
[0026] If the saw of the cutting device is designed as a band saw, it is preferably provided that this band saw has two cutting areas (aligned at right angles to the longitudinal axis) on both opposite longitudinal sides of the saw blade of the band saw. Thus, the log can be cut both during forward and backward movement along the longitudinal axis.
[0027] Alternatively, the cutting device can be provided with two horizontally aligned circular saws arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction, with the two horizontally aligned circular saws arranged offset from one another (as seen perpendicular to the longitudinal direction). With these two circular saws, it is possible to cut the logs from both sides simultaneously. Therefore, very large circular saws are not required; it is sufficient for the circular saw radius to be larger than the maximum radius of the log to be processed.
[0028] Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the cutting device has a drive motor arranged on the processing portal for the at least one saw of the cutting device.
[0029] The splitting device should be designed to allow for simple and quick splitting of the logs. Preferably, the at least one vertically oriented saw is mounted on the processing gantry so that it can rotate and, preferably in a horizontal direction, can be linearly displaced.
[0030] According to a preferred embodiment, it is provided that the at least one vertically aligned saw of the splitting device is designed in the form of a circular saw.
[0031] The size of this circular saw should be chosen so that the radius of the circular saw is larger than the maximum board thickness to be produced.
[0032] Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the splitting device has a drive motor arranged on the processing portal for the at least one saw of the splitting device.
[0033] For efficient processing, one embodiment provides for the splitting device to have two vertically aligned saws arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction. The two vertically aligned saws are offset from one another, viewed transversely to the longitudinal direction. Thus, the log can even be split into three adjacent wooden boards.
[0034] Furthermore, it is preferably provided that one of the two vertically aligned saws of the splitting device is arranged in the longitudinal direction in front of the cutting device and the other of the two vertically aligned saws of the splitting device is arranged in the longitudinal direction behind the cutting device.
[0035] This makes it possible for the splitting device located in front of the cutting device in the direction of movement of the processing gantry to split the logs before cutting. As soon as the processing gantry has moved completely along the log and at least one wooden board has been cut, the processing gantry moves in the opposite direction, with the other of the two vertically aligned saws positioned "in front" of the cutting device in the direction of movement and splitting the logs.
[0036] After trimming, cutting and splitting has been completed, it is also important to transport and sort the resulting wooden boards as quickly as possible.
[0037] Therefore, a sorting system for sorting the wooden boards is particularly preferred.
[0038] In order to move the cut-down wooden board away from the remaining round timber, it is preferably provided that the sorting system has a first, preferably stationary, transport device for transporting wooden boards cut down from the round timber.
[0039] The first transport device can comprise a gripper, preferably in the form of a pincer. Preferably, the first transport device is designed as a handling robot, preferably equipped with a vacuum suction device.
[0040] In order to guarantee compact and safe production, a housing, preferably lockable, is provided for the machine frame including the machining portal.
[0041] Particularly preferably, at least the first transport device is also arranged in the housing.
[0042] Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the sorting system has a second, preferably mobile, transport device for transporting, sorting, and stacking the wooden boards. This allows the wooden boards to be immediately and correctly assigned to a stack with other wooden boards of (virtually) identical size.
[0043] To enable this sorting to be carried out automatically, the sorting system preferably includes a second scanning device for scanning the wooden boards cut from the logs. Preferably, the second scanning device can record the dimensions of the wooden boards and / or the board qualities.
[0044] According to a preferred embodiment, it is provided that the holding device has at least two clamping elements separate from the holding jaws for holding the round timber via lateral surfaces.
[0045] This makes it possible for the holding device to grip around the round timber (or the area remaining for the main timber) after cutting the side timber and to hold it laterally in such a way that the main timber can also be cut completely without the processed round timber having to be removed from the holding device.
[0046] For automation, it is particularly crucial that a control or regulating unit is provided to control or regulate the woodworking device.
[0047] This control or regulating unit can be connected to an operating device or be an integral part of such an operating device, allowing an operator to operate and control the woodworking device via a corresponding control program and operating menu. Such an operating device can have a screen and a keyboard, preferably a touchscreen.
[0048] It is preferably provided that a plurality of log cross-sections are stored in a memory of the control or regulating unit, with each log cross-section corresponding to a specific diameter of the log detected by the first scanning device. This makes it possible to ideally fit the log cross-section to the actual dimensions of the log in question. The log cross-section should be designed or selected in such a way that there is as little waste as possible and that the quality of the individual wooden boards is as high as possible. An entire library of different log cross-sections can be stored.
[0049] It is particularly preferably provided that the processing portal and the trimming device, cutting device and splitting device arranged on the processing portal are movable and operable depending on the round wood cutting pattern corresponding to the detected diameter.
[0050] Thus, trimming, cutting, and splitting can be performed fully automatically and quickly with a single processing gantry. Protection is also sought for a woodworking system with a woodworking device according to the invention.
[0051] In order to provide an efficient woodworking plant that performs all the functions of a conventional sawmill, it is preferably provided that the woodworking plant, in addition to the woodworking device, has a feed area for feeding logs and / or a debarking device for debarking the supplied logs and / or a chip drying device and / or a chip compacting device and / or a chip container and / or a storage area for stacked boards. Of course, additional stations and devices can also be provided.
[0052] The object of the present invention is also achieved by a method according to claim 33. Such a method for processing round wood, which is aligned along a longitudinal direction of a woodworking device, comprises the following steps:
[0053] - Holding the round timber via a holding device on a machine frame,
[0054] - Moving a machining portal in the longitudinal direction on the machine frame, whereby the following steps are carried out during this movement of the machining portal:
[0055] - Trimming the round timber by means of a trimming device arranged on the processing portal, wherein the trimming device has at least one milling head (wherein the at least one milling head is mounted on the processing portal so as to be rotatable and - preferably at right angles to the longitudinal direction - linearly displaceable,)
[0056] - Cutting the round timber by a cutting device arranged on the processing portal, wherein the cutting device has at least one horizontally oriented saw (wherein the at least one horizontally oriented saw is mounted on the processing portal so as to be rotatable and, preferably in the vertical direction, linearly displaceable), and
[0057] - Splitting the logs by a splitting device arranged on the processing gantry, wherein the splitting device has at least one vertically aligned saw (wherein the at least one vertically aligned saw is mounted on the processing gantry so that it can rotate and, preferably in a horizontal direction, can be linearly displaced). In this method, it can preferably be provided that the logs are debarked in a debarking device before being held by the holding device. The debarking device can also be arranged on the machine frame.
[0058] Furthermore, it is preferably provided that during trimming, the holding device holds the log via the holding jaws engaging the end faces. After the log has been completely trimmed, the holding device is adjusted so that the holding device holds the log at its outer surfaces via at least two gripping elements separate from the holding jaws. This also allows the main product to be completely cut in one pass.
[0059] Further details and advantages of the present invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the exemplary embodiments shown in the drawings.

[0066] Fig. 19 - 25 various views of the wood processing device including sorting system in different positions.
[0067] Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of a woodworking plant 18. Such a woodworking plant 18 can be installed on the premises of a carpentry company, meaning it can be located practically anywhere. A preferred location—especially to minimize transport distances—is, for example, in the immediate vicinity of a production hall for prefabricated wooden components (wooden walls, etc.). Such a woodworking plant 18 requires only a floor space of approximately 500 m 2 , whereby an annual output of approximately 25,000 cubic meters (in single-shift operation) can be achieved. For an output of approximately the same amount, conventional sawmills require floor areas of approximately 20,000 m 2 required. In order to achieve all basic functions and manufacturing processes as in a sawmill, the wood processing plant 18 comprises the following components or stations in addition to the wood processing device 1 (including the sorting system 10):
[0068] - a feeding area 19 for feeding round wood H,
[0069] - a debarking device 20 for debarking the supplied round wood H,
[0070] - optionally a chip drying device 21 ,
[0071] - optionally a chip compaction device 22,
[0072] - optionally a chip container 23 and / or
[0073] - a warehouse 24 for board stacks P.
[0074] The arrangement of the individual stations is arbitrary as long as efficient working is possible and should be adapted to the available space.
[0075] For the present invention, the woodworking device 1 is the essential component or station. Figure 2 shows a schematic side view of this woodworking device 1.
[0076] The left-hand area again shows the feed area 19 for round timber H. This can be designed like a conventional feed area 19, for example with rollers.
[0077] The wood processing device 1 has a preferably lockable housing 13 for the machine frame 2 including the processing portal 3. Before the round timber H is held in the processing portal 3, it can pass through a first scanning device 8 for scanning the round timber H. With this first scanning device 8, the dimensions MH of the round timber H can be recorded.
[0078] The woodworking device 1 has a holding device 4, a trimming device 5, a cutting device 6 and a splitting device 7, which devices will be discussed in detail later.
[0079] Furthermore, the wood processing device 1 comprises a sorting system 10 for sorting the wooden boards B cut from the round timber H. This sorting system 10 has a first transport device 11 (for example in the form of a handling robot with vacuum suction cups) for transporting wooden boards B cut from the round timber H.
[0080] The wood processing device 1, preferably its sorting system 10, can have a second scanning device 9 for scanning the wooden boards B cut from the round timber H. With this second scanning device 9, the dimensions MB of the wooden boards B and / or the board qualities can be recorded.
[0081] The sorting system 10 may also comprise a second, preferably mobile, transport device 12 for transporting, sorting, and stacking the wooden boards B. These wooden boards B can then be stored on a board stack P in a warehouse 24.
[0082] A control or regulating unit 17 is also provided for controlling or regulating the wood processing device 1. In a memory of the control or regulating unit 17, a plurality of round wood cutting patterns H cu t is stored, whereby each log cutting image Heut corresponds to a specific diameter or dimension MH of the log H detected by the first scanning device 8. The control or regulating unit 17 is connected to the scanning device 8 via signaling. Depending on the design, the remaining components of the wood processing device 1 can also be controlled or regulated via the control or regulating unit 17.
[0083] In Figs. 3 to 14, a three-dimensional view of a log H is shown obliquely from the front. Some components of the wood processing device 1 are hidden, so that only the milling heads 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4 of the trimming device 5, the saws 6.1 and 6.2 of the cutting device 6 and the saws 7.1 and 7.2 of the splitting device 7 are shown. In the log H, a specific log cross-section H is shown schematically. cu t is drawn, which is digitally fitted into the round timber H based on a previously recorded measurement of the dimensions MH of the round timber H. Thus, Figs. 3 to 14 only correspond to a kind of pre-visualization of the shape in which the individual wooden boards B are to be cut out of the round timber H, which is still in one piece.
[0084] The first step of the processing operation now takes place in Fig. 3. For this purpose, the trimming device 5, cutting device 6 and splitting device 7, which are movably mounted on the processing gantry 3 (not shown), are moved in the longitudinal direction L along the machine frame 2 (not shown). This movement takes place from back to front, but can of course also be reversed. The two milling heads 5.1 and 5.2 mill off the uppermost section of the round timber H. This flattens the debarked tree. In Fig. 4, the first step has already been completed and the "top layer" has been completely milled away. Now, in the second step, the processing gantry 3, together with the devices 5, 6 and 7 arranged on it, moves backwards again.
[0085] Before starting this reverse movement, milling heads 5.1 and 5.2 move away from each other or move at right angles to the longitudinal axis L relative to the machining portal 3. In contrast, milling heads 5.3 and 5.4 perform the opposite movement to each other. This is possible because at least one milling head 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, and / or 5.4 of the trimming device 5 is mounted on the machining portal 3 so that it can rotate and move linearly (at least) horizontally at right angles to the longitudinal direction L.
[0086] Before the backward movement of the processing portal 3, a vertical relative movement also takes place between the devices 5, 6 and 7 and the round timber H. For this purpose, the devices 5, 6 and 7
[0087] - either be moved vertically (downwards) relative to the machining portal 3
[0088] - or the entire processing portal 3 is moved vertically (downwards) relative to the machine frame 2 including the round wood H
[0089] - or the round timber H is moved vertically (upwards) relative to the processing portal 3.
[0090] The height adjustment as well as the horizontal adjustment of the individual processing elements (milling heads and saws) is carried out by the control or regulating unit 17 depending on the specified round wood cutting pattern H cut . The position of the respective machining elements is adjusted before each new backward or forward movement of the machining portal 3 along the machine frame 2.
[0091] When the trimming device 5 moves backwards along the round timber H, the milling heads 5.3 and 5.4, which are now located at the front and closer together, trim the (new) top layer of the round timber H as shown in Fig. 4. The milling heads 5.3 and 5.4 thus produce the two lateral surfaces of the topmost wooden board 4 in Fig. 4. At the same time, the saws 6.1 and 6.2 cut the round timber H so that the topmost wooden board B separates from the round timber H. The saws 6.1 and 6.2 therefore produce the lower horizontal surface of the topmost wooden board B in Fig. 4 and, at the same time, the upper horizontal surface of at least one underlying wooden board B. After the processing gantry 3 has completed the complete backward movement, the topmost wooden board B is separated from the remaining round timber H and can be picked up and transported further by the first transport device 11 of the sorting system 10 (not shown here).
[0092] Before the forward movement shown in Fig. 5 is carried out, the processing elements are again adjusted in the vertical direction and in the horizontal direction: The milling heads 5.1 and 5.2 are moved horizontally towards each other, the milling heads 5.3 and 5.4 are moved apart and the vertically aligned saw 7.2 of the splitting device 7 is moved linearly in the horizontal direction.
[0093] When the processing portal 3 moves forward as shown in Fig. 5, two wooden boards B of different widths are cut out of the now uppermost layer of the round timber H. The two milling heads 5.1 and 5.2 produce the outer side surfaces of the wooden boards B, the saw 7.2 produces the two inner side surfaces of the wooden boards B, and the saws 6.1 and 6.2 produce the two lower horizontal surfaces as well as the upper horizontal surface of the next layer.
[0094] After the cut has been made, the two wooden boards B are again gripped by the first transport device 11 and transported for further processing.
[0095] Before processing begins with a backward movement of the processing gantry 3 as shown in Fig. 6, the log H is rotated 90°—in this case to the right—via the holding device 4 (not shown here). This places the surface milled flat in the first steps on its side and is now vertically aligned.
[0096] In Fig. 6, the milling heads 5.3 and 5.4 have been moved towards each other again, the milling heads 5.1 and 5.2 are again far apart from each other, and the vertical saw 7.2 of the splitting device 7 has been moved away from the log H. As a result, the now upper portion of the log H is milled flat by the milling heads 5.3 and 5.4 (and by the horizontal saws 6.1 and 6.2).
[0097] In Fig. 7, after the corresponding adjustment of the processing elements, the forward movement of the (not shown) processing gantry 3 occurs, so that—almost identically to Fig. 4—a wooden board B is cut from the log H. Before the backward movement of the processing gantry 3 shown in Fig. 8, the log H is again rotated 90° to the right and the processing elements are adjusted accordingly. In Fig. 8, the now upper side of the log H is then milled flat.
[0098] Fig. 9 is identical to Fig. 8.
[0099] In Fig. 10, the top wooden board B is cut out of the round timber H, just as in Fig. 7.
[0100] Fig. 11 essentially corresponds to Fig. 5, whereby in this case the cutting of the two wooden boards B takes place during the backward movement via the vertical saw 7.1 and the milling heads 5.3 and 5.4.
[0101] Before the forward movement begins as shown in Fig. 12, the log H is moved again by 90° to the right via the holding device 4. The log H is milled flat on the upper side by the milling heads 5.1 and 5.2.
[0102] In Fig. 13, during the backward movement, a wooden board B - the so-called side goods - is cut according to the round wood cutting pattern H cu t cut out of the round wood.
[0103] Finally, in Fig. 14, the individual wooden boards B are cut out layer by layer from the remaining round wood H. Again, of course, a corresponding adjustment of the processing elements in the vertical direction and, if necessary, in the horizontal direction is carried out for each layer before cutting.
[0104] Until the last processing step according to Fig. 14, the round timber H is held by the at least two (not shown here) holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2 of the holding device 4, wherein the holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2 in a holding position engage essentially centrally on opposite end faces S of the round timber H. Before the position according to Fig. 14, a gripping takes place such that at least two clamping elements 4.3 and 4.4, separate from the holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2, hold the round timber H via lateral surfaces J.
[0105] 15 and 16 show an example of a debarking device 20. In Fig. 15, this is shown in a plan view, and in Fig. 16 in a longitudinal section. The round timber H is loaded, for example, from a truck (timber transporter) onto the feed area 19. From there, the round timber H rolls to the debarking device 20. The debarking itself will not be described in detail here, as this is a process known to those skilled in the art. The debarking can be carried out and / or monitored by an operator. The debarked round timbers H can then be individually scanned by the first scanning device 8.
[0106] Fig. 17 shows a three-dimensional oblique view of the majority of the components of the woodworking device 1. The machine frame 2 is aligned along the longitudinal direction L.
[0107] A guide device 14 for feeding the round timber H is arranged on the machine frame 2. The guide device 14 has two horizontal supports 15 aligned substantially at right angles to the longitudinal axis L. Guide pieces 16, preferably V-shaped, are movably mounted on the supports 15. (Preferably, the guide pieces 16 are mounted so as to be linearly movable in the horizontal direction at right angles to the longitudinal direction L along the supports 15.) Fig. 17 shows that a (partially already processed) round timber H rests on these two guide pieces 16 and has already been moved towards the machine frame 2 by the guide pieces 16.
[0108] A holding device 4 for holding the round timber H is arranged on the machine frame 2. The holding device 4 has at least two holding jaws 4.1, 4.2, wherein the holding jaws 4.1, 4.2 engage essentially centrally on opposite end faces S of the round timber H in a holding position.
[0109] The two holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2 are each part of a so-called tailstock. A tailstock serves to support long workpieces (in this case, the round log H) using a centering point that engages the workpiece at the front. Thus, one tailstock centering point forms a holding jaw 4.1 or 4.2.
[0110] Specifically, a tailstock has a vertical travel rail 4.5 arranged on the machine frame 2, on which a support 4.6 is mounted for vertical movement. The centering center, including the holding jaw 4.1 or 4.2, is mounted for movement on the support 4.6. Specifically, this centering center can be moved relative to the support 4.6 in the longitudinal direction L. Consequently, the centering centers of the two tailstocks, including their holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2, can move toward and away from each other. This allows the holding device 4 to hold logs H of different lengths (greater distance between the holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2 for long logs H; shorter distance for shorter logs H). The holding device 4 (or each tailstock) has corresponding drive means for automatically performing the relative movements of the holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2 to the machine frame 2.
[0111] A machining portal 3 is mounted on the machine frame 2 so as to be movable in the longitudinal direction L. In the case shown in Fig. 17, the machining portal 3 has two portal parts 3.1 and 3.2 which can be moved together or separately from one another.
[0112] Travel rails 2.1 are arranged on the machine frame 2. The machining gantry 3 can be mounted on rollers, for example, so that it can move along the travel rails 2.1.
[0113] The cutting device 6 for cutting the round timber H is arranged on the portal part 3.1. The cutting device 6 comprises at least one (in this case horizontally oriented) saw 6.3 in the form of a band saw. The drive motor 6.4 for the band saw is also mounted on the portal part 3.1.
[0114] The splitting device 7 for splitting the round timber H is arranged on the portal part 3.1. In the oblique view shown in Fig. 17, however, its essential components are concealed by the portal part 3.1.
[0115] The trimming device 5 for trimming the round timber H is arranged on the portal part 3.2. In the case shown, this trimming device 5 has three milling heads 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 together with the associated drive motors 5.5, 5.6 and 5.7.
[0116] Especially if no separate, upstream debarking device is provided, a (relatively small) independent debarking device 20 for debarking the round timber H already clamped to the holding device 4 can be movably mounted directly on the machine frame 2.
[0117] In the background of Fig. 17, essential components of the sorting system 10 are also shown, for example the first transport device 11 in the form of a handling robot equipped with a vacuum suction cup.
[0118] Fig. 18 shows a side view of the wood processing device 1 including the sorting system 10. It is clearly visible that the portal part 3.1 of the processing portal 3 is mounted on the travel rails 2.1 of the machine frame 2. The drive motor 6.4 for the saw 6.3 of the cutting device 6 is arranged on the portal part 3.1.
[0119] The splitting device 7 has a vertically aligned saw 7.1, which is driven by the drive motor 7.3.
[0120] The milling heads 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 of the trimming device 5 are also visible. The debarking device 20 is also shown.
[0121] The support 4.6 for a tailstock is arranged on the machine frame 2. Furthermore, the support 15 and the guide pieces 16 are connected to the machine frame 2.
[0122] The first transport device 11 is mounted on an independent base 11.1 so as to be rotatable at least about a vertical axis of rotation.
[0123] The sorting system 10 has a second scanning device 9 for scanning the wooden boards B cut from the round timber H. The scanning device 9 is mounted so as to be movable along the travel rail 9.1 in the longitudinal direction L. For this purpose, a cut wooden board B is placed from the first transport device 11 onto the assessment platform 25. The scanning device 9 then moves along the travel rail 9.1 and scans the wooden board B placed thereon. Depending on the detected category of the wooden board B, the wooden board B is sorted into the sorting box 26. For this purpose, corresponding conveyor belts 25.1 and 26.1 are arranged on the assessment platform 25 and also in the sorting box 26. After the category has been detected, the assessment platform 25 first moves vertically to the corresponding category K1, K2, etc. of the sorting box 26. The conveyor belts 25.1 and 26 then begin to move.1 and move the wooden board B horizontally into the corresponding position of the sorting box. Once a layer is full of wooden boards B, these wooden boards B can be transported via the layer conveyor belt 27 into the slat magazine 28.
[0124] The components of the sorting system are shown in Fig. 18 and Fig. 17 and are partly relatively clearly visible.
[0125] Fig. 19 shows a view from the rear. The majority of the components of the woodworking device 1 are again visible, with the same reference numerals designating the same parts, units, or components. This Fig. 19 also shows the second transport device 12 (handling robot), which can be moved along the base 12.1 in the longitudinal direction L. With this second transport device 12, the wooden boards B can be assembled into individual stacks P, which can then be transported further by truck or other means of transport.
[0126] Fig. 20 again shows a 3D view of the wood processing device 1 from a different direction. In contrast to the previous representations, the portal part 3.2 has moved backwards along the machine frame 2 in order to edge the round timber H with the edger 5.
[0127] Fig. 21 shows the woodworking device 1 before the start of this trimming process. The round timber H is moved upwards via the holding device 4 and its holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2 via the supports 4.5 along the travel rails 4.6. As a result, the round timber H no longer rests in the V-shaped guide pieces 16 and can thus be rotated by rotating the holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2 (e.g., by 90°).
[0128] In Fig. 22, the portal part 3.2 now moves along the machine frame 2 and trims the round timber H.
[0129] In Fig. 23, the portal part 3.1 also moves along the machine frame 2, so that a wooden board B is cut from the round timber H by the cutting device 6.
[0130] In Fig. 24, the log H is no longer held between the holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2. Instead, the log H is held over the outer surfaces J by two clamping elements 4.3 and 4.4, separate from the holding jaws 4.1 and 4.2. These clamping elements 4.3 and 4.4 each have clamping jaws that can be moved toward each other to grip and thus hold an already trimmed outer surface J from the rear and from the front. The entire clamping elements 4.3 and 4.4, in turn, can be moved vertically along the travel rails 4.7.
[0131] Finally, Fig. 25 shows a plan view of the entire wood processing device 1 including the sorting system 10.
