Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a packaging device according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] Packaging units consisting of an outer box and one or more inner trays on or in which the individual products are arranged are widespread and well-known. Classic chocolate boxes are a common example of this type of packaging, where, in multi-layered solutions, the individual trays rest on top of each other without any additional locking or securing devices.
[0003] It is a regular need for retailers and end consumers to design packaging units containing multiple products in such a way that unintentional falling out of such trays is avoided and that the individual, unused products are also presented advantageously.
[0004] For example, US 2012 / 008578 A1 proposes providing an inner support and casing element that encloses the actual product on at least three sides and has a locking element on each end, into which a vertical (locking) tab pointing towards the bottom of the outer packaging can snap. While this secures the inner support and casing element, it makes removal so difficult that the outer packaging must be destroyed or completely unfolded, depending on the hardness and rigidity of the tab.
[0005] Another embodiment is disclosed in EP 2 778 086 A1, which proposes attaching an outward-projecting (locking) tab to the end face of an inner support and sleeve element, extending the base surface. When the product or the support and sleeve element is inserted, this tab points upwards and snaps into place below a folding flap on the end face of the outer packaging. This securely holds the support and sleeve element in its final position, analogous to US 2012 / 008578 A1, but removal is very cumbersome.
[0006] The object of the present invention is therefore to provide an improved packaging unit in this respect.
[0007] This problem is solved by the packaging unit according to the features of claim 1; further advantageous embodiments are described in the dependent claims and / or mentioned below.
[0008] The packaging unit according to the invention comprises an outer box, at least one carrier element for receiving products, in particular at least two elongated products, such as at least two toothbrushes, formed from a carrier blank, wherein The outer box comprises a base, at least two side surfaces, and at least two end surfaces, wherein at least one folding flap is arranged on each end surface for at least partial contact with the end surface, wherein at least one folding flap has at least one contact edge, and wherein the support element has two end ends, two longitudinal edges, a roof section, and at least one base section, and wherein at least one locking tab is arranged on each end end, and wherein the locking tabs of the support element can be engaged with the contact edges of the folding flap in such a way that they can be fixed in a deep position (within the outer box), and wherein a folding flap of an end surface has at least two opposing contact edges, or two opposing folding flaps of an end surface each have at least one (mutually opposing) contact edge. The (horizontally) opposing contact edges have at least...in one section a (horizontal) gap that increases towards the ground surface. The supporting element also has at least one .
[0009] The roof section and at least one base section are formed, the roof section consisting of at least two sloping roof surfaces and having at least one locking tab at each end face of at least one roof surface and / or at least one base surface. The base section(s) may be multi-part and include one or more base surfaces.
[0010] Here, "alignment edge" of the folded section also refers to one or more sections, so that in an advantageous configuration, the alignment edge at least partially encompasses a shadowed area of a triangle, a trapezoid, or a truncated cone. The alignment edge also refers to the cut edge in or on the folded section against which the locking tab can also be brought into alignment with its outer cut edge.
[0011] The "carrier element" refers to a tray formed from a blank, hereinafter called a carrier blank, which can be inserted into an outer packaging, the outer box. The carrier element is designed to support at least one product and, if necessary, to be lifted out of the packaging together with the product, such as one or more toothbrushes.
[0012] Advantageously, the carrier element itself, as well as the blank from which it is formed (molded), is made of a (fiber) material or a material mixture, such as single- or multi-layer cardboard, corrugated board, carton, composite material, or similar materials. It is particularly advantageous if the carrier element or the carrier blank is made from a renewable raw material, and furthermore, if the outer box and / or the closure element (lid) are also made of a corresponding material.
[0013] The partial and subsurfaces or sub-areas of the carrier material, such as the roof surface, floor section, base surfaces, and locking tab, are delineated or connected to adjacent partial surfaces or areas by so-called "functional lines." These include, among others, embossing lines, scoring lines, or perforation lines. Depending on the material and function, a fold line or fold edge can be incorporated into the carrier blank using a tool, thus predefining and facilitating the shaping of the carrier element into the desired functional or intended form.
[0014] In this case, the flat support element forms a roof section with at least two roof surfaces, rising from two essentially horizontal base sections. The major advantage here is that the roof section generates a restoring force along the functional line of the formed gable or ridge and the bend lines at the transition to the base section. The longitudinal edges of the base sections are thus pressed against the respective side surfaces of the outer box. Furthermore, the roof shape offers the significant advantage that it can be grasped and squeezed by a consumer without any additional handles or grips, allowing the support element to detach from the outer box and be removed. Advantageously, the bend line of the roof gable can also serve as a functional line connecting the two roof surfaces longitudinally. The term "roof section" in this context refers to the surface areas of the beam section from which the roof-like structure is formed after assembly and orientation. A roof section can, in particular, consist of two or more sub-areas.
[0015] In one embodiment, an advantage may be that the gable of the roof section has two parallel gable edges, so that in the usage form a further, possibly strip-like and / or horizontal upper roof surface is formed between the two gable edges.
[0016] Surprisingly, a similar effect and advantage was also observed with regard to the locking tabs. These are typically folded upwards from the blank and, when the carrier blank is positioned, overlap at least one folding flap of the outer box because the locking tabs exert a restoring force towards the end faces. After passing over the contact edge, the locking tabs fold out to the lower layer of the end face and thus lock into place below the contact edge of the folding flap. Since the folding flaps on the end face of the sloping roof surface are arranged along a functional line, they lie diagonally from bottom to top beneath the respective contact edge of the folding flap. The support elements and the products arranged therein are thus held securely in the desired position and protected against unintentional falling out, by the support element pressing itself against the side surfaces and end faces with a certain spring or restoring force and locking it in place.
[0017] In one embodiment, it may be advantageous if the single- or multi-part contact edge is formed by an opening, a projection, or a cutout in the folding flap. Furthermore, it may be advantageous if the contact edge has contact edge segments that have a profile and / or different orientation in at least two spatial directions (yz-plane / axes).
[0018] In one embodiment of the packaging unit, an improvement can consist of the folding flap of the outer box being connected to a side surface via a functional line and resting at least partially on the front surface with its back side. In other words, in this embodiment, the folding flap with the contact edge(s) in the cut of the outer box is an adjacent surface of at least one side surface, ideally one folding flap on each side surface.
[0019] In this context, the term "connected" means that these two sub-surfaces are formed from one piece of material or are essentially formed from one piece of material.
[0020] In this context, "reverse" means that the side facing away from the interior or product compartment of the outer box, where the carrier blank or product can be positioned. Similarly, "front" means the side of the outer box material facing the interior or product compartment.
[0021] In an improved embodiment, it can be provided that at least one of the cut edges and / or a cut edge section of the locking tab is oriented at an angle to a contact edge in the released position (removal position) such that the cut edge and / or the cut edge section can slide off the contact edge. Here, "released position" of the cut edge means that the roof surfaces of the support element have been pressed together and / or moved towards each other over a defined distance, so that the locking tabs are released from the force-fit and / or form-fit with the contact edges (end position).
[0022] In a further embodiment of the packaging unit, an improvement can consist of the folding flap of the outer box being connected to an end face via a functional line and resting at least partially flat against the side surface with its reverse side. In other words, in this embodiment, the folding flap with the contact edge(s) in the cut of the outer box is adjacent to a surface of at least one end face, ideally one folding flap on each end face.
[0023] In one embodiment, it can be provided that the aforementioned variants are combined by connecting a folding flap of the outer box to a side surface via a functional line and a folding flap of the outer boxes to an end face via a functional line.
[0024] In a further embodiment of the packaging unit, an improvement can consist of at least one locking tab being arranged at each end face of each roof surface and / or each base surface. In other words, when installed, a locking tab projects (obliquely) upwards at each end face of the roof surfaces.
[0025] In a further embodiment of the packaging unit, an improvement can consist of forming at least one clamping and positioning section from at least one bottom section, which projects transversely beyond the longitudinal edge. This clamping and positioning section can essentially have two functions. Firstly, it forms a second clamping line on the side surface of the outer box; secondly, it centers a product that is placed between the inward-facing surfaces of the clamping and positioning section and the respective top surface.
[0026] Assuming an elongated extension of the outer box and thus also of the supporting element with a longitudinal axis, "longitudinal direction" refers to the x-axis of a Cartesian system, "transverse direction" to the y-axis and "upwards or downwards" to the z-axis.
[0027] In a further improved embodiment of this variant, at least one side surface of the outer box has at least one locking element under which at least one clamping and positioning section can snap into place in the operating position. This illustrates a further advantage of the compressible roof surfaces of the support element. These additional locking sections on the support element are also unlocked or released with the same user action, and the support element can be easily removed at any time.
[0028] The clamping and positioning section is advantageously formed at least partially from the base section or the foot surface and, in its unfolded position, projects beyond the longitudinal edge of the base section over a defined distance in the transverse direction. Thus, a crease line is arranged longitudinally at the transition from the base section to the clamping and positioning section, and in the transverse direction, cut lines are arranged on both sides of the clamping and positioning section at the transition to the base section. Hereinafter, no distinction is made between cut line and cut edge, and the terms are used synonymously because a cut line in the cut after unfolding represents one or two cut edges.
[0029] For this embodiment of the packaging unit, in which at least one clamping and positioning section is formed from at least one base section and projects transversely beyond the longitudinal edge, an improvement can consist of the clamping and positioning section being bent upwards in the position of the support elements in the outer shaft. This means that the clamping and positioning section projects obliquely upwards in the direction of the z-axis. The angle of inclination of the clamping and positioning section depends on the length in the transverse direction (y-axis) by which it projects beyond the longitudinal side of the base section and the transverse distance of the bend line parallel to the longitudinal axis at the transition from the base section to the clamping and positioning section.
[0030] Advantageously, at least one clamping and positioning section and / or roof surface has at least one (product) recess for receiving or inserting at least one part of the product. This could, for example, be a toothbrush head that rests on the support element, facing towards the center, and is received in a (product) recess of the roof section. Preferably, two toothbrushes are positioned opposite each other in this way, and each roof surface has a recess, either at the same or opposite end faces.
[0031] A further improvement of this embodiment of the packaging unit can consist of the fact that, from at least one roof surface, at least one section is cut, in particular two-sided sections, the bottom section has inner bottom sections projecting inwards in the transverse direction, in particular for the placement and insertion of a product end (toothbrush head) and / or as an access area for removing a product. In other words, these inner bottom sections are arranged in the shadow area of the roof section projecting in the direction of the z-axis.
[0032] In a further embodiment of the packaging unit, an improvement can consist in the packaging unit having at least two stacked carrier elements for holding at least one product each, wherein a folding flap of an end face has at least four paired, opposing contact edges arranged one above the other, or two opposing folding flaps of an end face each have at least two contact edges arranged one above the other (opposing each other), and wherein each pair of (horizontally) opposing contact edges has in at least one section a (horizontal) distance that increases towards the bottom surface, in which at least one locking tab of one of the support elements can be brought into contact.
[0033] This doubling of the support elements in the direction of the z-axis, as well as further levels of support elements, follow the aforementioned embodiment and concept in an analogous manner.
[0034] The complementary edges of the folding tabs, corresponding to their respective locking tabs, are arranged on the folding tabs with the desired frequency n, one above the other (in the z-direction). During assembly, the lowest support element 1 is inserted first, and the uppermost support element n is inserted last. During removal, as described above, the uppermost support element n is first partially released from its locking mechanism by grasping and compressing the roof surfaces, and can then be removed.
[0035] In this stacking arrangement of n support elements, the underside of the base section can rest on underlying products. Advantageously, inner base sections are provided that extend transversely towards the center (longitudinal axis) and that a partial surface and / or their respective inner edge rests on or against an underlying roof surface.
[0036] In another embodiment of the packaging unit, an improvement can consist of the locking tabs being folded upwards in the inserted position of the support element in the outer box.
[0037] The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments shown in the figures. The figures show: Fig. 1 a perspective top view of the packaging unit, Fig. 2 a top view of the carrier blank, Fig. 3 a perspective view of the isolated carrier element, Fig. 4 another top view of an alternative embodiment of the carrier blank, Fig. 5 a perspective top view of part of the end face, Fig. 6 a vertical sectional view looking towards the inner end face of the outer box, and Fig. 7 a view of the Figure 3 alternative embodiment.
[0038] For identical or similarly functioning elements of the invention, identical reference numerals are used in the figures. Furthermore, for the sake of clarity, only those reference numerals necessary for describing the respective figure are shown in the individual figures. The invention is also presented in the figures only as a schematic view to illustrate its operation. In particular, the illustrations in the figures serve only to explain the fundamental principle of the invention. For the sake of clarity, not all components of the device are shown.
[0039] The Figure 1Figure 400 shows a top view of packaging unit 300 with a slightly unfolded outer box 101, on the base 102 of which the support element 201 is placed in an upright position. The packaging unit 400 shown comprises an outer box 101 and a support element 201 for holding two toothbrushes 130, with a brush head (product end 132, front) and a toothbrush handle (product end 134, rear).
[0040] The outer box 101 comprises a base 102, at least two side surfaces 104, and at least two end surfaces 106. Folding flaps 110 are arranged on the end surfaces 106 for at least partial contact with the respective end surface 106 in the closed, finished state. The folding flaps 110 have recesses 150 as openings or cutout areas, on which contact edges 112 are arranged. Furthermore, a closure flap 120 is arranged on each of the side surfaces 104 and one end surface 106, which serves for contact with and connection to a closure element (not shown). The closure flap 120 projects outwards along the functional line F and can, for example, be glued, welded, or otherwise connected to a closure element. The functional lines F are, in this case, die-cut lines that define a specific crease in the material of the outer box.
[0041] The support element 201 has two end faces 206, two longitudinal edges 208, a roof section 210, and bottom sections 220. Two locking tabs 250 are arranged at each end face 206, with one locking tab being arranged at each end face 206 on each roof surface 211. When the outer box 101 is closed, the locking tabs 250 of the support element 201 come into contact with the contact edges 112 of the folding flap 110, which are arranged in the recesses 150, and can be locked there. The folding flaps 110, or rather the recesses 150 therein, each have two contact edges 112, an outer and an upper one.
[0042] An exemplary toothbrush, designated as product 130, is placed on the carrier element 201. The toothbrush has a front end 132 (a toothbrush head) and a rear end (a toothbrush handle). A second toothbrush can be placed analogously in the plane below, with its toothbrush head (the front end 132) also oriented towards the center (upwards).
[0043] As in connection with, in particular, the Figure 5 and 6As shown and described in detail, the opposing folding tabs 110 of an end face 106 each have at least one (mutually opposite) contact edge 112. The opposing contact edges 112 have a distance that increases towards the base surface 102. The support element 201 has a roof section 210 and a base section 220. The roof section 210 is gable-shaped, formed from two upwardly sloping roof surfaces 211, and has locking tabs 250 at each end face 206.
[0044] The presentation of Figure 1 This is for illustrative purposes only. The support element 201 is intended to be inserted into the completed outer shaft 201, not into an open, unfinished outer shaft 201.
[0045] In the Figure 2The support blank 200 is shown as a flat, unerected element from which the support element 201 is formed. The support blank 200 consists of a single piece of cardboard or paperboard. In the illustrated embodiment, the support blank 200 has a roof section 210, a bottom section 220, clamping and positioning sections 230, a central hinge axis 202, two outer hinge axes 204, two end faces 206, and outer longitudinal edges 208. The roof section 210 comprises two roof surfaces 211, on which locking tabs 250 are formed at the end faces 206. However, the two outer hinge axes 204 do not form a continuous hinge line in the erected support element 201, but are interrupted, for example, by the inner base surfaces 224. The central folding axis 202 is one of the functional lines F, which is designed as a folding and perforation line 252. The longitudinal axis L runs in the same position. In the exemplary embodiments shown in the figures, it is largely left open how the functional lines F are mechanically formed, i.e., whether they are, for example, perforated, cut or punched.
[0046] The locking tabs 250 are trapezoidal in shape. The base section 220 is divided into two parts: an upper and a lower base section in the image plane, on both sides of the roof section 210. A kink axis 204 is provided at the transition between a roof surface 211 and the adjacent outer base surface 222. Cutting areas and a corresponding cutting line 232 extend from the kink axis 204, thus forming the inner base sections 224. Figure 2 and the other illustrations only show individual section lines 232. Function lines F, section and / or fold lines are self-explanatory from the depicted erected support elements 201.
[0047] This inner base 224, together with the resulting cutout area in the compartment surface, forms a receiving space / area for, for example, a transversely protruding section of a product 130, such as a toothbrush head (not shown). Furthermore, the longitudinal axis L (x-axis) and the transverse axis 205 (y-axis) are shown.
[0048] In the Figure 3 is the freestanding support element 201 according to Figure 1 depicted, whereby the Figure 4 shows the corresponding carrier profile 200. Figure 3 Figure 1 shows the support element 201 in an upright or unfolded position. The two roof surfaces 211 are oriented upwards in a gable-like manner in the direction of the vertical axis 207 (z-axis). Locking tabs 250 are arranged at each end face 206 of each roof surface 211 of the roof section 210, so that the support element 201 has a total of four locking tabs 250.
[0049] In an embodiment not shown, only two locking tabs 250 are provided, e.g., offset at the two end faces 206. The support element 201 is shown in a position in which the roof surfaces are so close together that the inner edges of the (inner) foot surfaces 224 touch. This can be the released position, whereby the inner foot surfaces 224 can also be deformed and / or slid over each other by further force applied by a user.
[0050] The partial section according to Figure 5Figure 1 shows the open outer box 102 with an end piece 114 arranged therein, having an eyelet 116 for attachment to a support element (not shown). The inserted and erected support element 201 has a certain distance from the end face 206, with the locking tabs 250 providing a locking mechanism and, to a certain extent, a spring-loaded bearing through the restoring forces. The embodiment of the partially shown support element 201 in the Fig. 5 corresponds to the one in the Figure 3 , 4 and 6It can be seen that when the two roof surfaces 211 are manually pressed or folded together, with the ridge acting as a kind of leaf or foil hinge, the locking tab 250 is at least partially pulled over a contact edge 112 and thus released to such an extent that the support element 201 can be removed without significant resistance when the roof surfaces 211 are grasped and brought close together in this way. In particular, the upper locking edge 256 is guided transversely inwards towards the center to such an extent that the lateral locking edge 254 rests on the upper contact edge 112 or the upper contact edge section and can slide off.
[0051] Fig. 6Figure 1 shows a vertical section of the entire packaging unit 400 of an exemplary embodiment in its closed form. This unit comprises an outer box 101, a closure element 300, and the support element 201. Particularly visible in detail are the opposing folding flaps 110 of an end face 106 and the recess 150 therein with the associated contact edges 112, which are designed as two contact sections with different spatial orientations.
[0052] The folding tabs 110 are not recognizably snapped, glued or otherwise attached to the respective reverse side on the front side 106.
[0053] The contact edges 112 of the left and right recesses 150 are opposite each other and form a transverse gap (y-axis) that opens or widens towards the base surface 102. The two contact edges 112 of the left and right folding flaps form an angle, which in an alternative embodiment can also be an arc or other curved line. The locking tabs 250 have two complementary locking edges 254, 256. In the position shown, the lateral locking edge 150 is opposite the lateral contact edge 112 (contact edge section) of the folding flap 110, and the upper locking edge 256 is opposite the upper contact edge 112 (contact edge section). Figure 6This shows a situation in which the support element 201 is not fully erect, so that the longitudinal edge 208 of the outer base surface 222 does not abut the side surface 104. Consequently, the locking edges 254, 256 of the locking tabs 250 are also not at least partially in contact with the contact edges 112 of the folding tabs 110.
[0054] The advantageous locking mechanism, which is easy for a user to manipulate in two directions, diagonally upwards and (across) to the side, is clearly visible.
[0055] Furthermore, in the Figure 6 An alternative embodiment for the folding flap 110 is indicated by the dashed line, which is open to the base surface 102, where the base surface has a more rib-like or hook-like shape.
[0056] Finally, in the Figure 7 An embodiment of the support element 201 is shown, which, except for the arrangement of the locking tabs 250, is identical to the embodiment of the Figure 3 The design is identical, so reference is made to the explanations provided there. The contact edge, which is complementary to the locking tab arranged on the (outer) base surface, is preferably not part of a recess in a folding flap. This folding flap for a locking tab arranged on the edge of the base surface preferably has an open shape facing the bottom surface of the outer box. In other words, this is a base surface that is, for example, rib-like or hook-like. Put another way, it is designed like a kind of overhang.
[0057] The packaging unit and its associated elements, such as the carrier blank, the carrier element, and / or the products, are shown here essentially in one position and orientation, namely resting on a horizontal surface (not shown). It is understood by those skilled in the art that the packaging unit and its associated elements, individually or collectively, can assume any position and orientation. Therefore, all references to spatial position, such as top, bottom, vertical, oblique, etc., as well as terms indicating a spatial position, such as "bottom," "ceiling," "side," etc., serve only for linguistic simplification, are not to be understood as limiting, and should be understood and interpreted analogously in the event of a change in the basic orientation of the packaging unit or its associated elements.
