Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: RIBBED METAL SHEET WITH VISUAL EFFECT
[0001] The present invention relates to a ribbed sheet with a visual effect.
[0002] the term sheet metal applies here to any element substantially in the form of a plate, whatever the dimensions and / or geometry of the latter, for example square, rectangular or other. In all cases, the thickness of such a sheet metal is of the order of a few millimeters, generally between 0.2 mm and 3 mm. The term metallic includes any metal, including alloys, suitable for the use of the sheet metal, external or internal, in an aggressive or non-aggressive environment. Similarly, the term rib concerns any relief, positive or negative, relative to the mean plane of the sheet metal, whatever the geometry of the cross-section of the ribs and / or the dimensions and / or the number and / or the distribution of the ribs on the sheet metal. Such sheets are used in the roofing of a building or in cladding, that is to say, in the cladding of the walls of a building, including internal walls. They may or may not be painted.
[0003] The ribbed metal sheets used for roofing are generally monochrome, in particular in order to comply with the architectural regulations existing in certain countries such as France. A monochrome appearance of the sheets is also found when they are used as cladding for a building, for example either in a solid color or imitating wood, brick, stone. That being said, the practice currently encountered ensures uniform treatment of the entire sheet, without differentiation between the ribs and the flat inter-rib areas.
[0004] The invention thus proposes a ribbed sheet offering a visual effect different from those usually encountered, on the basis of a polychromy adapted to the reliefs of the sheet.
[0005] To this end, the invention relates to a ribbed metal sheet comprising at least two ribs separated by a non-ribbed flat zone, characterized in that at least a portion of the ribs receives at least a given first coating, at least a portion of the non-ribbed flat zones receiving at least a second coating, the first and second coatings being differentiated and constituting a given visual effect.
[0006] Thus, by associating the visual perception of the reliefs formed by the ribs with a given color compared to the non-ribbed areas, a given visual effect is defined, for example a trompe-l'oeil by highlighting a given aspect of the reliefs or flat areas. Thanks to the invention, from a given sheet, several visual effects can be obtained, without structural modification of the sheet.
[0007] According to advantageous but not obligatory aspects of the invention, such a sheet may comprise one or more of the following characteristics:
[0008] - at least one of the coatings is discontinuous, dotted.
[0009] At least one of the coatings combines a color with a non-planar appearance.
[0010] At least one of the coverings is a prefabricated strip.
[0011] The invention will be better understood and other advantages thereof will appear. more clearly on reading the description which follows, given solely as a non-limiting example and made with reference to the attached drawing in which:
[0012] [Fig-1] is a partial view, in perspective from the visible upper face, of a ribbed metal sheet according to an embodiment of the invention.
[0013] [Fig.l] illustrates, partially, a ribbed metal sheet 1. This is a steel metal sheet. Alternatively, the sheet is made of another metal, an alloy or a composite material. Such a sheet 1 generally has a rectangular shape, it being understood that it can be square. The sheet 1 is ribbed. Here, the ribs 2 are all identical, parallel and regularly distributed over the sheet. The ribs 2 are arranged over the entire length of the sheet 1, therefore along its largest dimension. Alternatively, it is understood that the ribs present on the sheet are not all identical and / or are not regularly distributed. Similarly, they can be arranged over a part of the sheet and / or along its smallest dimension. In other embodiments, the ribs are located under a mean plane P of the sheet 1, or alternatively above and below the mean plane P of the sheet 1.
[0014] The ribs 2 here all have, in cross section, a trapezoidal shape. They are separated by a flat zone 3 of the sheet. The flat zones 3 define the mean plane P of the sheet 1. Here, the flat top 4 of each rib 2 is parallel to the plane P, therefore to the flat zones 3. The sides 5, 6 of each rib 2 are inclined so that the open base 7 of each rib 2 has an area greater than that of the top 4 of the rib 2 concerned.
[0015] According to the invention, the flat areas 3 and at least a part of each rib 2 have a differentiated coating, respectively R2, R3. Here, it is the whole of each rib 2, therefore the top 4 and the sides 5, 6, which is coated identically by the coating R2, namely a given color. Alternatively, only the top 4 and / or at least one of the sides 5, 6 are coated. Similarly, the coating may be different between the various parts 4 to 6 constituting a rib 2. In the illustrated embodiment, the coating consists of a given color R2, providing a particular visual appearance, for example imitating wood or another material. Alternatively, the coating may be complex, combining one or more colors with a granite, grooved or other appearance.
[0016] The flat areas 3 are provided with a coating R3 different from that R2 of the ribs 2 and chosen to provide a visual contrast and / or a given visual appearance, for example a trompe-l'oeil over the entire sheet 1. In the example, if the ribs 2 have a color R2 imitating wood, the flat areas 3 are of a uniform, dark color R3, or even black, in order to give the optical illusion that wooden ribs are fixed to the wall of the building equipped with the sheet 1, without the flat areas 3 standing out visually. According to the embodiment illustrated in [Fig.l], the visual effect concerns the largest dimension of the sheet 1, the ribs 2 and flat areas 3 having their respective coating over their entire length. Alternatively, the coatings R2, R3 of the ribs 2 and flat zones 3 only concern part of the length of the latter, or even in a discontinuous manner, in dotted lines. In such a configuration, a visual effect of the sheet metal is achieved in two dimensions, like a grid.
[0017] In other embodiments, the choice of the coatings R2, R3 is such that it is the flat areas 3 which stand out visually in relation to the ribs 2. In all cases, thanks to the invention, the visual appearance is not that of a sheet metal, only certain areas, the ribs or the flat areas, being highlighted.
[0018] The production of such a sheet is obtained either by placing the coating R2, R3 of the ribs 2 and flat areas 3 on a finished sheet, for example by painting, depositing a polymer film, colored or having a given appearance, for example with microreliefs, or by gluing prefabricated strips corresponding to the desired coating R2, R3, in terms of colors and / or appearance.
[0019] Alternatively, on a flat metal strip, before producing the ribs by folding, the coatings R2, R3 are applied which, on a finished sheet 1, will form the coatings R2, R3 of ribs 2 and flat areas 3, this in strips parallel to each other and over the entire length of the metal strip. For this, either known painting techniques are used or the bonding of prefabricated strips. In all cases, once the coatings have been applied to the metal strip, the ribs and therefore the flat areas are shaped by folding. The metal strip is then cut into sections whose dimensions correspond to those of a sheet 1.
[0020] Thanks to the invention, in addition to an optimized visual appearance, the longevity of the sheet metal is improved, the coatings R2, R3 having a protective role against aging in air and / or against impacts.
