Abstract

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a decorative object from at least one hot-extruded cord of a polymer-based composition, comprising a step of passing a polymer-based composition through an extrusion die from a feed inlet of said composition to an extrusion head (51) from which the extruded cord emerges in the ambient environment, a first layer of extruded cord (C) being deposited on a receiving support (20), characterized in that said method comprises the steps of: - using a polymer-based composition consisting of recycled polyethylene terephthalate, or a mixture of recycled polyethylene terephthalate and non-recycled polyethylene terephthalate, - heating the composition so that the temperature of the extruded cord, at the exit of the extrusion head, is between 200°C and 300°C, - blowing a gas onto the extruded cord so as to force the cooling of said cord by convection, said gas being blown at a temperature less than or equal to the ambient temperature. Claims

1. A method of manufacturing a decorative object (1) from at least one hot-extruded bead (C) of a polymer-based composition, comprising a step of passing a polymer-based composition through an extrusion die (50) from a feed inlet for said composition to an extrusion head (51) from which the extruded bead emerges in the ambient environment, a first layer of extruded bead being deposited on a receiving support (20), said method comprises the steps of: - using a polymer-based composition consisting of recycled polyethylene terephthalate, or a mixture of recycled polyethylene terephthalate and non-recycled polyethylene terephthalate, - heating said composition so that the temperature of the extruded bead (C), at the outlet of the extrusion head (51), is between 200°C and 230°C in order to ensure that said bead emerges extruded in a pasty state rather than in a molten state,- blowing a gas onto the extruded cord (C) so as to force the cooling of said cord by convection, said gas being blown at a temperature between -10°C and +10°C, and the temperature of said gas being chosen so that the cooling rate of the extruded cord (C) is between 250°C / min and 350°C / min.,

2. Method according to one of the preceding claims, in which the polymer-based composition has at least 99% by mass of polyethylene terephthalate and the following residual quantities: - at most 50 ppm of Polyvinyl chloride, - at most 100 ppm of water, and - at most 30 ppm of Polyethylene.

3. Method according to one of the preceding claims, in which the polymer-based composition has at least 50% by weight of recycled polyethylene terephthalate.

4. Method according to one of claims 1 to 3, in which the decorative object (1) comprises a plurality of layers of extruded cords, each layer being cooled by blowing gas.

5. Method according to one of claims 1 to 3, in which the decorative object (1) comprises a plurality of layers of extruded cords, and in which: - the receiving support (20) is cooled so as to force the cooling of the first layer (C) of extruded cord by conduction, the cooling temperature of said support being less than or equal to the temperature of the ambient environment, - each successive layer, after the first layer of extruded cord, is cooled by blowing the gas.

6. Method according to one of claims 1 to 5, comprising the steps of: - securing the extrusion head (51) to a robotic handling arm (30), - controlling the arm (30) so as to move the extrusion head (51) along a trajectory so that the extruded bead forms a decorative object (1) having at least one curved contour.

7. Method according to one of claims 1 to 5, comprising the steps of: - securing the receiving support (20) to a displacement means, - controlling the displacement means so as to move the receiving support (20) along a trajectory so that the extruded cord forms a decorative object (1) having at least one curved outline.

8. Method according to one of claims 6 or 7, in which the extrusion of the bead (C) and the blowing of the gas are carried out concomitantly during the movement of the extrusion head (51) along the trajectory.

9. Method according to one of claims 6 to 8, comprising a step of securing one or more gas blowing nozzles (9) to the extrusion head (51).

10. Method according to one of claims 6 to 8, comprising a step of securing one or more gas blowing nozzles (9) to a displacement means, which displacement means is controlled so that the nozzle(s) move at the same time as the extrusion head (51) and along the same trajectory.

11. A method according to claim 9, wherein a plurality of nozzles (9) are arranged so that they each act simultaneously on a portion of the surface of the bead (C).

12. System for manufacturing a decorative object (1) from at least one hot extruded bead (C) of a polymer-based composition, comprising: - an extrusion die (50) having at one end a feed inlet and at the other end an extrusion head (51), said die (50) being fed with at least one polymer-based composition exiting, into the ambient environment, in the form of a bead extruded by the extrusion head (51), - a receiving support (20) on which a first layer of extruded bead is deposited, - means (9) for blowing a gas onto the extruded bead (C) so as to force the cooling of said bead by convection, characterized in that: - the polymer-based composition consists of recycled polyethylene terephthalate, or a mixture of recycled polyethylene terephthalate and non-recycled polyethylene terephthalate, - the extruded bead temperature (C),at the outlet of the extrusion head (51), is between 200°C and 230°C in order to ensure that said bead comes out extruded in a pasty state rather than in a molten state, - the gas is blown at a temperature lower than or equal to the temperature of the ambient environment, the temperature of said gas being between -10°C and +10°C and the temperature of said gas being chosen so that the cooling rate of the extruded bead (C) is between 250°C / min and 350°C / min., 24
