Description

Title of invention: Hair treatment brush

[0001] The present invention relates to a hair treatment brush and the corresponding hair treatment method. Technical field

[0002] In the field of hair styling, it is common to use hairbrushes. Many improvements to traditional hairbrushes have been proposed. Among these improvements, the joint use of heat has been the subject of many proposals. Among the documents mentioning the use of heat, we can cite patent applications CH600821 and EP2074902 which mention hot air blowing. We can also mention patent applications IL219875 and US4217915 which mention heating at the base of the bristles or combing teeth of the brush. Finally, we can mention patent application US2018125223 which mentions heated teeth. None of these documents mentions the joint use of steam.

[0003] Patent application DE19822718 mentions a comb whose teeth can be perforated to emit water vapor which comes into contact with the hair. Alternatively, the brush is devoid of steam outlet nozzles and the teeth are heated by a thermal resistance without applying steam. Such a brush with perforated teeth heated by steam is difficult to manufacture and limits the temperature imparted to the hair. It can also present treatment irregularities due to local over-concentrations of steam on certain parts of the hair.

[0004] There are also documents describing styling brushes with steam emission through the base carrying the bristles or teeth during treatment, the latter serving as a heating means. Examples include documents US4936027, JPS5568318, JPH07213325, CN2061786, JPH01207001, JPH1033253, JPH07163416, JP2000175723 and KR19990036306U. None of these latter documents mention that the bristles or teeth can themselves be heated independently of the steam emission.

[0005] Patent application KR20030085159A describes a brush comprising a plurality of spikes heated by a thermal resistor in the base and having steam outlets between the spikes. In this document, the steam outlets and the spikes are distributed over the entire surface of the brush. Such a brush therefore does not allow steam to be applied to a limited part of the hair and to dissociate the action of the steam from the action of dry heat.

[0006] There is therefore a need for a brush having improved treatment performance, particularly combing performance, which is homogeneous and durable while being se- secured. Summary of the invention

[0007] The present invention meets this need with the aid of a hair treatment brush, in particular a straightening brush, having: - at least one heating zone for combing the hair, without steam outlet, in which the brush comprises: o a plurality of teeth, and o heating means for heating at least two teeth of the plurality of teeth, - at least one steam outlet zone in which the brush comprises at least one steam outlet, the steam outlet zone(s) being separate from the heating zone(s) for combing the hair.

[0008] By "brush" is meant a hair treatment device consisting of a single arm carrying a plurality of teeth between which the hair is received as the brush passes over the hair. The brush may comprise a single row of teeth or preferably comprise a plurality of rows of teeth.

[0009] By "teeth" is meant projecting elements of the brush extending from the treatment surface of the brush between which the hair is received as the brush passes over the hair. The teeth can be of any shape.

[0010] By "heated combing zone" is meant an area with at least two teeth and without a steam outlet as specified above. It is not excluded that the brush comprises other elements excluding steam outlet in the heating combing zone, in particular a member for applying cosmetic product. The heating combing zone is delimited on the brush by the external edges of the teeth heated by the heating means which are peripheral to the heating combing zone.

[0011] By "steam outlet zone" is meant an area with at least one steam outlet. It is not excluded that the brush includes other elements in the steam outlet zone, in particular heated teeth and / or a cosmetic product application member as we will see below.

[0012] Such a brush makes it possible to treat the hair effectively by carrying out on the hair at least one simultaneous heating / combing step and at least one step of applying steam to the same lock of hair, the two steps being offset in time.

[0013] The fact that the steam outlet zone(s) are on the same treatment surface allows the two treatment steps to be carried out in a single action on the same lock of hair by passing the brush through the hair and this successively.

[0014] The fact that the two zones are distinct makes it possible to dissociate the application of steam from combing and the application of dry heat by the heating combing zone, which improves the treatment of the hair.

[0015] Preferably, the brush is of elongated shape along a main axis.

[0016] Alternatively, the brush is not elongated.

[0017] Preferably, the brush comprises a handle and a head, the head carrying the treatment surface. The handle facilitates gripping the brush and allows the insertion into the brush of additional elements, in particular a user interface, a water or cosmetic product reservoir and / or one or more sensors.

[0018] The brush head may be of any shape in cross section. Preferably, the brush head is of substantially polygonal cross section, in particular substantially rectangular or substantially square, substantially oval, or substantially circular.

[0019] Preferably, the brush comprises a treatment surface, the teeth extending from the treatment surface. Preferably, this treatment surface is flat or curved outwards. Preferably, this treatment surface has a substantially polygonal outline, in particular rectangular or square, circular or oval. Heated combing zone(s)

[0020] The brush may comprise a plurality of discontinuous combing heating zones, in particular separated from each other by a steam outlet zone.

[0021] Preferably, the or each heating combing zone is elongated along a longitudinal axis, in particular an axis parallel to the main axis of the brush.

[0022] The brush may comprise a plurality of discontinuous heating combing zones separated from each other, in particular by a steam outlet zone or an additional treatment zone, in particular for applying a cosmetic product as we will see later.

[0023] Preferably, the or all of the heating zones for combing the hair extend over more than 50%, better still more than 70% of the treatment surface of the brush. Teeth

[0024] The teeth of the heating combing zone(s) may extend along at least one row of teeth, better still two rows of teeth, preferably each extending along the main axis of the brush.

[0025] Preferably, the brush is of substantially rectangular shape and the teeth extend along several rows of teeth, each extending along the main axis of the brush for a brush with a treatment surface of substantially rectangular contour.

[0026] Preferably, the row(s) of teeth in the combing heating zone each comprise at least 3 teeth, better still between 10 and 40 teeth, even better still between 15 and 40 teeth.

[0027] Preferably, the teeth have a height of between 2 mm and 50 mm, better still between 5 mm and 20 mm.

[0028] Preferably, the at least two teeth heated by the heating means are free of surface protrusions.

[0029] Preferably, each tooth of the at least two teeth heated by the heating means is in one piece.

[0030] Preferably, the teeth heated by the heating means are attached to the treatment surface of the brush, in particular fixed in holes in the treatment surface.

[0031] The teeth may extend perpendicular to the treatment surface or be inclined relative to said treatment surface.

[0032] Preferably, the teeth of a row are spaced apart by a distance of between 1 mm and 30 mm, better still between 2 mm and 15 mm. The spacing is measured between the longitudinal axes of the teeth.

[0033] Preferably, the teeth heated by the heating means are made of a heat-conducting material, in particular iron, aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, graphite, or ceramic. The teeth may be provided with a coating chosen from ceramic, tourmaline, elastomer, metal alloy and anodizing coating. This allows the teeth to be easily heated by the heating means, and for the hair to be in contact with hot surfaces in the combing heating zone.

[0034] Said teeth may comprise at their end a protection made of insulating material to limit the heat in contact with the scalp. In this case, in operation, the temperature at the end of the teeth may be less than or equal to 100°C, preferably less than or equal to 60°C, better still less than 45°C.

[0035] The brush is configured so that, in operation, the temperature of the teeth at mid-height is from 110°C to 230°C, better from 110°C to 210°C, even better from 180°C to 210°C.

[0036] At least a portion of the teeth may be made of a material that is not very heat conductive, for example elastomer or plastic.

[0037] The brush may comprise, along an axis perpendicular to the main axis of the brush, an alternation of rows of teeth made of a heat-conducting material and rows of teeth made of a material that is not very heat-conducting.

[0038] The teeth made of a material that is not very heat-conductive may be of a different height, in particular higher, than the teeth made of a material that is not very heat-conductive. heat. Having the low heat conducting teeth higher than the heat conducting teeth helps limit contact between the scalp and the heat conducting teeth, with the low heat conducting teeth coming into contact with the scalp. Heating means

[0039] Preferably, the heating means comprise at least one heating element in the body of the brush for heating the teeth by thermal conduction or the brush comprises a heating element in each of the teeth, in particular constituting the core of the corresponding tooth.

[0040] The heating means may be thermal resistors or any other heating means. Steam outlet zone(s)

[0041] The brush may comprise a plurality of discontinuous steam outlet zones separated from each other by the or part of the combing heating zone.

[0042] Preferably, the or each steam outlet zone extends over more than 70% of the largest dimension of the treatment surface of the brush.

[0043] Preferably, the or each steam outlet zone extends over a length substantially equal to that of the adjacent combing heating zone(s).

[0044] The or each steam outlet zone may comprise a steam outlet, in particular a single one, extending over substantially the entire length of the steam outlet zone. In this case, the steam outlet may have an opening greater than or equal to 5 mm2.

[0045] Alternatively, the or each steam outlet zone comprises a plurality of steam outlets distributed over the steam outlet zone, in particular according to at least one row of steam outlets. Preferably, the steam outlets open in the brush onto a common steam distribution chamber.

[0046] The steam outlet zone(s) may be located at the periphery of a single combing heating zone. The combing heating zone(s) may surround the steam outlet zone(s).

[0047] Preferably, the steam outlet or at least one steam outlet is at a distance of at least one heating spike from the combing heating zone less than or equal to 5 cm, better still less than or equal to 2 cm.

[0048] Preferably, the or each steam outlet extends at least partially along the combing heating zone.

[0049] Preferably, the brush comprises a steam projection system configured to supply the steam outlet zone(s), in particular the steam outlet(s), with a steam flow rate less than or equal to 5 mLmin *, better between 0.2 and 4 mLmin *, even better between 0.4 and 2 mLmin *, preferably between 0.5 and 0.95 mLmin *.

[0050] Preferably, the brush comprises a steam projection system configured so that the speed of the steam emitted by the steam outlet zone(s), in particular the steam outlet(s), is between 0.007 m / s and 15 m / s, better still between 0.01 m / s and 3 m / s and even better still between 0.1 m / s and 1 m / s. A lower steam emission speed does not allow the steam to penetrate sufficiently into the hair for good treatment and a higher steam emission speed can lead to a risk of discomfort on the scalp, the steam not having time to cool before reaching the scalp.

[0051] The steam outlet zone(s) may be toothless.

[0052] Alternatively, a steam outlet zone may comprise a plurality of teeth. The teeth of the steam outlet zone may each be made of a heat-conducting material, in particular iron, aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, graphite, or ceramic. The teeth may be provided with a coating chosen from ceramic, tourmaline, elastomer, metal alloy, and anodized coating materials.

[0053] Alternatively, the teeth of the steam outlet zone may each be made of a material that is not very heat conductive, for example elastomer or plastic.

[0054] As a further variant, a portion of the teeth of the steam outlet zone is made of a heat-conducting material, in particular as mentioned above, and a portion of the teeth of the steam outlet zone is made of a material that is not very heat-conducting, in particular as mentioned above.

[0055] The brush may include a steam containment groove into which the steam outlet(s) communicate. This allows the steam to be confined in a closed space, making it easier to apply.

[0056] The brush preferably comprises at least one vaporization chamber. The vaporization chamber may be in the head of the brush or in the handle.

[0057] The steam outlet(s) may be of any shape, in particular substantially square, substantially rectangular, substantially round or ovoid.

[0058] The or each steam outlet has an opening less than or equal to 20 mm2, better still less than or equal to 10 mm2, even better still less than 5 mm2, most preferably less than 2 mm2.

[0059] The brush may comprise a reservoir of product to be sprayed, in particular water, in particular having a volume ranging from 1 mL to 50 mL. The reservoir may be in the handle or in the head.

[0060] The brush may comprise a pump between the water tank and the steam outlet zone, in particular between the tank and the vaporization chamber. Application of a cosmetic product

[0061] The brush may comprise at least one area for applying a cosmetic product, preferably separate from the heating combing and steam outlet areas, the product application area comprising a member for applying a cosmetic product.

[0062] The cosmetic product application member is arranged so as to come into contact with the hair. The cosmetic product application member is preferably porous, elastically compressible, and may advantageously be made of an open-cell cellular material, such as PE (polyethylene) foam for example. The application member may be made of any material capable of releasing or diffusing the cosmetic product.

[0063] The application member may be removable.

[0064] The brush may include a reservoir for cosmetic product.

[0065] Preferably, the delivered cosmetic product is in a fluid state. By "in a fluid state" is meant liquid at room temperature (25°C) or at a higher temperature, between 25 and 50°C for example and at atmospheric pressure. In this case, the product may initially be in a solid or pasty state at room temperature in the reservoir and heated within the reservoir in order to make it sufficiently fluid to be dispensed by the dispensing mechanism provided to supply the application member. The product is thus fluid in the reservoir at the time of application.

[0066] The tank may be equipped with an electrical resistor, for example a thin screen-printed resistor, making it possible to raise the temperature of its contents above 50°C for example.

[0067] The cosmetic product may be a composition for cleaning, coloring, bleaching, conditioning, or shaping hair. Preferably, the cosmetic product is a hair shaping composition, in particular a hair curling, setting, or, preferably, hair straightening or smoothing composition.

[0068] The cosmetic product may contain one or more active agents chosen from reducing agents and in particular thiols, oxidizing agents and in particular hydrogen peroxide or persalts such as persulfates, coloring agents and in particular pigments, direct dyes or oxidation dyes, non-durable shaping agents and in particular styling polymers, preferably anionic, amphoteric or non-ionic, conditioning agents and in particular silicones, mineral or vegetable oils, vegetable waxes, cationic surfactants or cationic polymers, alkaline agents or acids.

[0069] Even more preferably, the cosmetic product contains one or more agents chosen from oxidizing agents, reducing agents or alkaline agents of the hydroxide type. Comb

[0070] The brush may comprise a combing zone separate from the combing heating and steam outlet zones and without a heating element. Preferably, the combing zone comprises a single row of teeth, in particular pins. Preferably, the combing zone is configured to be upstream of the steam outlet zone and the combing heating zone when brushing the hair. This facilitates brushing, which improves the treatment of the hair. Process

[0071] The invention also meets this need by a method for treating hair with a brush, in particular with the brush as described above, comprising: - a step of simultaneously heating and combing a lock of hair by passing it between teeth of at least one heating combing zone of the brush, - applying steam to the lock of hair in at least one steam outlet zone, the steam outlet zone(s) being distinct from the heating combing zone(s), the step of simultaneous heating and combing and the application of steam being carried out on a lock of hair by a single pass of the brush through the hair.

[0072] The features of the device described above apply to the method in combination or individually from each other and independently of the brush or in combination with the brush.

[0073] In the above method, the application of steam is temporally distinct from the application of dry heat by the simultaneous combing heating zone, the steam outlet and combing heating zones being distinct from each other.

[0074] The process can be repeated several times for complete treatment of part or all of the hair.

[0075] Preferably, the brush is moved over the hair at a speed of between 0.5 cm / s and 50 cm / s.

[0076] The method may comprise the application of a cosmetic product to the lock of hair before or after using the brush of the invention and preferably before.

[0077] The cosmetic product may be a composition for cleaning, coloring, bleaching, conditioning, or shaping hair. Preferably, the cosmetic product is a hair shaping composition, in particular a hair curling, setting, or, preferably, hair straightening or smoothing composition.

[0078] The cosmetic product may contain one or more active agents chosen from reducing agents and in particular thiols, oxidizing agents and in particular hydrogen peroxide or persalts such as persulfates, coloring agents and in in particular pigments, direct dyes or oxidation dyes, non-durable shaping agents and in particular styling polymers, preferably anionic, amphoteric or non-ionic, conditioning agents and in particular silicones, mineral or vegetable oils, vegetable waxes, cationic surfactants or cationic polymers, alkaline agents or acids.

[0079] Even more preferably, the cosmetic product contains one or more agents chosen from oxidizing agents, reducing agents or alkaline agents of the hydroxide type.

[0080] The method may comprise one or more steps of rinsing the hair. Brief description of the drawings

[0098] Figures 1 to 4 illustrate an example of a brush 10 according to the invention.

[0099] The brush 10 comprises a gripping handle 15 and a treatment head 20. The Head 20 is roughly rectangular in shape with rounded corners. But it could be otherwise. The head could be polygonal, oval or round in particular.

[0100] The head 20 forms a treatment surface 21 intended to come into contact with the hair during brushing.

[0101] The head 20 comprises teeth 23 arranged in a plurality of rows which extend from the treatment surface 21. The rows of teeth 23 extend along a main axis X of the brush. The rows of teeth may comprise from 8 to 40 teeth, Here 8 teeth have been shown for illustration purposes. The teeth can be added to the brush, being in particular made of a different material from the treatment surface.

[0102] The head 20 also comprises a plurality of steam outlets 30 which can be inserted between the teeth 25 of one of the rows of teeth, here the central row.

[0103] In the illustrated case, the areas of the treatment surface of the brush without steam outlets constitute combing heating zones C. The area of the brush comprising the steam outlets, here also with teeth, constitutes a steam outlet zone V extending along the combing heating zones C over a large part of the length of the latter. The combing heating zones C cover more than 70% of the treatment surface 21 of the brush intended to come into contact with the hair.

[0104] The steam outlet zone, delimited by the lateral edges of the peripheral steam outlets, is elongated along an extension axis E, in particular parallel to the main axis X. The steam outlet zone extends over a length e greater than or equal to 80% of the dimension 5 of the treatment surface on this axis.

[0105] In the illustrated embodiments, all of the teeth are identical, but this may not be the case. For example, the teeth may be of different materials, heights, shapes, or orientations.

[0106] Preferably, the teeth 23 each extend along a longitudinal axis Y. The longitudinal axis Y of each tooth 23 can form an angle α with the treatment surface 21 of between 60 and 120°, for example substantially equal to 90°.

[0107] The teeth 23 are spaced apart by a distance d, measured between the longitudinal axes Y of the teeth, less than or equal to 30 mm, preferably between 2 mm and 15 mm.

[0108] Preferably, the height h of the teeth 23 is less than or equal to 50 mm, better still between 2 and 50 mm, even better still between 5 and 35 mm.

[0109] As can be seen in [Fig. 3], the teeth 23 of the combing heating zones C are heated by heating means. The brush 10 comprises in particular one or more heating resistors 35, in particular in the head, and the teeth 25 are heated by thermal conduction from the head towards the distal end of the teeth 25. Preferably, the teeth are made of a heat-conducting material, in particular iron, aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, graphite or ceramic, possibly provided with a coating.

[0110] Preferably, the electrical heating resistor(s) are located in the head of the brush.

[0111] The brush 10 may include a temperature regulation system, not illustrated, using one or more sensors arranged near the heating resistor(s) or in contact with the brush and / or at the end of at least one of the teeth.

[0112] Alternatively, as illustrated in [Fig.5], the thermal resistance(s) 35 extending into the teeth 35 in the form of a heating core 37.

[0113] The heat source is not limited to that just described.

[0114] The steam outlets are supplied with steam, in the example illustrated, by a ramp 45, elongated in a direction parallel to the main axis X arranged in the brush head.

[0115] The steam outlets 30 are orifices opening onto the ramp, for example between 6 and 10 orifices, which are preferably equally distributed along the ramp 45 and each with an axis oriented substantially perpendicular to the median treatment plane so that the steam is emitted perpendicular to the treatment surface along an axis W.

[0116] The steam outlets 30 can be of any shape, in particular square, rectangular, round or ovoid.

[0117] The ramp 45 is supplied with steam by a vaporization chamber 42, heated by a heating element, itself supplied with product to be vaporized by a reservoir 48. The reservoir can be in the brush, in particular the handle or the head, as illustrated in [Fig.4], or offset in an external base 50 to which the brush is connected by a conduit for supplying product to be vaporized 52, as illustrated in [Fig.6].

[0118] The reservoir of product to be sprayed, in particular water, may have a volume of between 1 mL and 50 mL, when it is in the handle or in the head of the brush.

[0119] Preferably, the steam outlets have a steam flow rate of between 0.5 and 0.95 mLmin 1 with a speed of the steam emitted at the outlet of the steam outlets of between 0.7 cm / s and 15 m / s.

[0120] When using the brush, the latter is passed over the hair at a speed of between 0.5 cm / s and 50 cm / s. The hair may or may not be combed before using the brush.

[0121] The embodiments of Figures 7 to 12 differ from the previous embodiment in the shape and positioning of the steam outlet zone 30.

[0122] Alternatively, as illustrated in particular in [Fig.7], the brush may comprise a single steam outlet 30 extending over substantially the entire length of the steam outlet zone parallel to the rows of teeth. Preferably, the steam outlet has an opening greater than or equal to 5 mm2.

[0123] The steam outlet zone V can be positioned differently on the brush. It can be upstream of a single combing heating zone as illustrated in [Fig.8], or downstream of the latter, as illustrated in [Fig.9].

[0124] The device may comprise a plurality of steam outlet zones V separated from each other by a combing heating zone C, in particular two steam outlet zones V separated from each other by a combing heating zone C as illustrated in Figures 10 and 13.

[0125] The two steam outlet zones can be positioned on the periphery of the treatment surface 21, on either side of a single heating combing zone, as illustrated in [Fig. 13].

[0126] The or at least one of the steam outlet zones V may comprise a steam containment groove 50 into which the steam outlet(s) extend, as illustrated in [Fig.l 1].

[0127] The steam outlet zone(s) V may extend over only a portion of the length of the combing heating zone, as illustrated in [Fig. 12].

[0128] In the example of [Fig. 14], the teeth 23 are inclined relative to the treatment surface 21 by an angle α of between 45° and 90°. The steam outlet(s) 30 may emit steam at an angle other than 90° with the treatment surface 21, in particular of between 45° and 90°, for example substantially equal to the extension angle of the teeth 23.

[0129] In the variant of figures 15 and 16, the brush comprises at least one additional treatment zone A, preferably separate from the steam outlet zone(s) and / or the combing heating zone(s).

[0130] The additional treatment zone A may be a combing zone without heating comprising a comb 60 at a temperature less than or equal to 50°C during operation of the brush. Preferably, the comb 60 is arranged upstream of the steam outlet(s) 30.

[0131] The additional treatment zone may be a cosmetic product application zone comprising a cosmetic product application member 65.

[0132] The cosmetic product application member 65 is arranged so as to come into contact with the hair. The cosmetic product application member 65 is preferably porous, elastically compressible, and may advantageously be made of an open-cell cellular material, such as PE (polyethylene) foam for example. The application member may be made of any material capable of releasing or diffusing the cosmetic product.

[0133] The application member may be removable.

[0134] The brush may include a reservoir of cosmetic product not shown.

[0135] Preferably, the cosmetic product is in a fluid state at the time of use.

[0136] The cosmetic product reservoir can be equipped with an electrical resistance, for example for example, a thin screen-printed resistor, allowing the temperature of its contents to be raised to 40-50°C for example in order to liquefy it.

[0137] Preferably, the cosmetic product is a hair shaping composition, in particular a hair curling or setting composition and, preferably, a hair straightening or smoothing composition.

[0138] The cosmetic product may contain one or more active agents chosen from: reducing agents and in particular thiols, oxidizing agents and in particular hydrogen peroxide or persalts such as persulfates, coloring agents such as pigments, direct dyes or oxidation dyes, non-durable shaping agents such as styling polymers, preferably anionic, amphoteric or non-ionic, conditioning agents such as silicones, mineral or vegetable oils, vegetable waxes, cationic surfactants and cationic polymers, alkaline agents or acids.

[0139] Even more preferably, the cosmetic product contains one or more agents chosen from oxidizing agents, reducing agents or alkaline agents of the hydroxide type.

[0140] In the example of [Fig. 17], the brush comprises teeth made of a heat-conducting material 23a and longer teeth made of a material that is not very heat-conducting 23b. The teeth 23a and 23b may alternate within the same row as illustrated in [Fig. 17]. Alternatively, the brush comprises, perpendicular to the main axis X, alternating rows of teeth made of a heat-conducting material 23a and rows of teeth made of a material that is not very heat-conducting 23b.

[0141] Numerous modifications can be made to the examples which have just been described, without departing from the scope of the present invention.

[0142] For example, the brush may not have a handle, the back of the brush allowing the brush to be gripped.

[0143] The brush may comprise several different additional treatment zones, which may or may not be separate from each other.

[0144] The steam outlet zone may include heated teeth like the combing heating zone.

[0145] The steam outlets extend from the treatment surface but could extend from protrusions, including teeth, of the treatment surface.
