Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: vehicle having a heating, ventilation and air conditioning device with simplified geometry
[0001] The present invention relates to a vehicle having a heating, ventilation and air conditioning device with simplified geometry. Such a device is also known as HVAC, from the English "Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning".
[0002] For the remainder of the description, and for the sake of clarity and conciseness, this device will always be referred to as HVAC.
[0003] In order to better understand the positioning of the various parts involved in a vehicle according to the invention, the description is carried out with reference to a direct orthonormal reference frame XYZ linked to said vehicle and in which X is a front-rear longitudinal axis of the vehicle oriented towards the rear, Y is a transverse axis oriented towards the right of the vehicle and Z is a vertical axis directed upwards.
[0004] Current HVACs have several disadvantages: -they have a complex architecture comprising several shutters to notably mix hot and cold air, distribute air to the occupants' feet and / or heads, and ensure defrosting or ventilation phases at any time, - they implement a large number of parts, including arms, wheels, and guide grooves, which will lead to low efficiency. Indeed, the multiple interactions between these different elements will generate hysteresis in the air distribution curves, which will have a negative impact on the adjustment of the different air flows, -They generate high manufacturing and control costs, due to the presence of these numerous parts with complex geometries, - they are very bulky and will therefore be difficult to integrate into a vehicle where available space is limited.
[0005] A vehicle according to the invention has an HVAC which overcomes all the drawbacks encountered with HVACs of the state of the art.
[0006] The subject of the invention is a vehicle equipped with an HVAC comprising an air supply device, an evaporator, an air heater and a mixing flap capable of moving to mask said evaporator or said fan.
[0007] According to the invention, the HVAC comprises a lower support plate of circular shape on which the air heater, the evaporator and the mixing flap are mounted, the air heater and the evaporator being of curved shape and in continuity with one of the other around a circle, the air supply device being placed in a space delimited by the air heater and the evaporator and the mixing flap having a curved intermediate wall capable of moving along a curved element of the lower support plate to be placed between the air supply device and at least one of the two elements constituted by the air heater and the evaporator. In this way, the HVAC has a generally circular shape and is of compact geometry. It can therefore be easily mounted in a small and inaccessible space in the vehicle, due to its small size. The air heater and the evaporator are arc-shaped parts, inscribed around the same fictitious circle, and together they define at least partially a circle. The air supply device is placed inside the circle defined by the air heater and the evaporator and is designed to blow air to both the air heater and the evaporator.Advantageously, the air supply device distributes air radially in all directions of the space, and more specifically towards the evaporator and / or the air heater, depending on the position of the mixing flap. The mixing flap acts as a mask to prevent the pulsed air from passing through the evaporator and / or the air heater. In other words, when it is inserted between the air supply device and one of the two elements consisting of the air heater and the evaporator, it prevents said element from being passed through by the air coming from said air supply device. The mixing flap can also occupy at least one intermediate position for which it partially conceals the air heater and the evaporator. The mixing flap is mounted on the lower support plate, so that it can move along a circle on said lower support plate, the axis of revolution of which would coincide with the axis of revolution of this lower plate. The curved element of the lower support plate along which the mixing flap can move can, for example, be represented by a groove, or a rib or a slide. Advantageously, the air heater and the evaporator have the same length, the length materializing their dimension along the circle around which they are inscribed.
[0008] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the mixing flap comprises a curved outer wall whose diameter is greater than that of the intermediate wall, the outer wall and the intermediate wall being intended to enclose the air heater and / or the evaporator depending on the position of the mixing flap. With respect to the air coming from the air supply device, the intermediate wall materializes an inlet wall and the outer wall materializes an outlet wall located on either side of the element constituted by the air heater or the evaporator, at the level of which the mixing flap is placed. Advantageously, the intermediate wall and the outer wall are concentric, and are secured to each other by a flat and annular connecting wall. When the mixing flap is rotated on the lower support plate, the intermediate wall and the outer wall pivot simultaneously without time or space lag.
[0009] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the HVAC comprises a curved air filter placed between the air supply device and the assembly consisting of the evaporator and the air heater in continuity with each other, said air filter extending over the entire length of the evaporator and the air heater. This air filter makes it possible to clean the air coming from the air supply device before it passes through the air heater and / or the evaporator. This air filter is therefore placed inside the evaporator and the air heater and extends over the entire length of these two elements so that no area of them escapes prior air filtering.
[0010] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the mixing flap comprises a curved inner wall whose diameter is smaller than that of the intermediate wall, the inner wall and the intermediate wall being intended to enclose the air filter. For this configuration, the mixing flap comprises three concentric walls: the inner wall, the intermediate wall and the outer wall, the outer wall and the intermediate wall being intended to enclose the evaporator and / or the air heater, the intermediate wall and the inner wall being intended to enclose the air filter. The mixing flap is interposed between the air supply device and at least one of the two elements constituted by the air heater and the evaporator.
[0011] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the mixing flap comprises a circular cover from which the intermediate wall, the inner wall and the outer wall originate, said cover extending parallel to the lower support plate. Thanks to the presence of this cover representing the connecting element between the three concentric walls of the mixing flap, said three walls rotate at the same time when the mixing flap is rotated.
[0012] According to a possible feature of the invention, the lower support plate comprises an outer circular rail and an inner circular rail, the curved inner wall of the mixing flap being slidably mounted in the inner circular rail and the curved outer wall of the mixing flap being slidably mounted in the outer circular rail. The inner circular rail and the outer circular rail are concentric and each extend over at least 50% of the 360° of their total circumference.
[0013] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the evaporator and the air heater are separated by a thermal insulator and each end with a thermal insulator. These thermal insulators are hollow parts, intended to create a thickness of air intended to thermally insulate the evaporator and the air heater.
[0014] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, each wall of the mixing flap comprises circular and linear sealing elements. In other words, the edges delimiting the different walls of the mixing flap, whether straight or curved, have sealing elements intended to prevent untimely air leaks. These sealing elements can for example be represented by seals extending along said edges.
[0015] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the HVAC comprises a cylindrical wall originating on a peripheral edge of the lower support plate, said cylindrical wall having a bulge provided with three superimposed openings, an upper opening of which is provided for ventilation, an intermediate opening of which is provided for defrosting and a lower opening of which is provided for heating the feet, said HVAC having a distribution flap mounted in rotation in the bulge and capable of occupying a multiplicity of positions for totally or partially opening or closing at least one of said superimposed openings.
[0016] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the distribution flap comprises two fixed and separate sections, said distribution flap being capable of occupying a multiplicity of positions each characterized by the positions of the two separate sections, each being able to open or close totally or partially at least one of the superimposed openings. The distribution flap comprises two fixed and separate components, capable of at least partially, or not, obscuring at least one of the three superimposed openings of the bulge. The fact that the distribution flap has two separate components makes it possible to make certain HVAC air outlet configurations possible. Thus, for example, one of the two components can at least partially obscure one of the three openings, while the other component can obscure or not another opening. Advantageously, the two components of the distribution flap are inscribed around the same circle.Preferably, the two components of the distribution shutter are framed by sealing elements, such as gaskets.
[0017] Another object of the invention is a ventilation, defrosting and air conditioning device for producing a vehicle according to the invention.
[0018] According to the invention, the device comprises an air supply device, an evaporator, an air heater and a mixing flap capable of moving to mask said evaporator or said fan, said device comprising a lower support plate of circular shape on which the air heater, the evaporator and the mixing flap are mounted, the air heater and the fan being of curved shape and in continuity with each other around a circle, the air supply device being placed in a space delimited by the air heater and the fan and the mixing flap having a curved intermediate wall capable of moving along a curved element of the lower support plate to be placed between the air supply device and at least one of the two elements constituted by the air heater and the evaporator.
[0019] A vehicle according to the invention has the advantage of having a compact HVAC, in which the various elements are arranged judiciously to be able to efficiently offer all the functions expected of an HVAC. Such an HVAC can thus be easily and quickly mounted in a restricted space of a vehicle, without requiring the presence of a large clearance space. A vehicle according to the invention also has the advantage of generating low manufacturing and control costs due to the reduced number of parts involved in the HVAC. Finally, it has the advantage of having a flexible HVAC to use, due to a clever geometry of the distribution flap.

[0035] [Fig. 15] [Fig. 15] is a top view of an HVAC according to the invention showing the mixing flap in a third position,
[0036] Referring to [Fig.l], an HVAC 1 according to the invention comprises a lower support plate 100, an evaporator 2, a unit heater 3, an air filter 4, a mixing flap 5 and an air supply device 50. The lower support plate 100 is flat and circular. The evaporator 2 is a curved piece in the shape of an arc of a circle and the unit heater 3 is also a curved piece in the shape of an arc of a circle, said evaporator 2 and said unit heater 3 being aligned along the circumference of the same circle. The air heater 3 and the evaporator 2 form a partial circle which is coaxial with the lower support plate 100. The circle formed by this air heater 3 and this evaporator 2 extends over a sector of a circle for at least 180° on the lower support plate 100. The evaporator 2 and the air heater 3 have substantially the same width, which is their dimension considered along a radial axis of the lower support plate 100.They also have the same height, which is their dimension considered along the axis of revolution of said lower support plate 100, and the same length which is their dimension considered along the circle in which they are inscribed.
[0037] Referring to [Fig.4], the evaporator 2 and the air heater 3 are each framed by two thermal insulators 6, 7, 8 and 9, each thermal insulator 6, 7, 8, 9 being represented by an elongated hollow part. Two thermal insulators 6, 7 are placed at the two ends of the evaporator 2 considered along a longitudinal axis of said evaporator 2 and two other thermal insulators 8, 9 are placed at the two ends of the air heater 3 considered along a longitudinal axis of said air heater 3. Once the evaporator 2 and the air heater 3 have been arranged on the lower support plate 100, the thermal insulators 7, 8, 9 are parallel and extend parallel to the axis of revolution of the lower support plate 100, covering the entire height of said evaporator 2 and said air heater 3.A thermal insulator 7 of the evaporator 2 is in contact with a thermal insulator 8 of the air heater 3, while the other two thermal insulators 6, 9 represent the two ends of the assembly constituted by the evaporator 2 and the air heater 3, said ends being considered the log of a longitudinal axis of said assembly. The two thermal insulators 7, 8 which are in contact with each other can form a single thermal insulator.
[0038] Referring to Figures 1 and 5, the air filter 4 is a curved part having the shape of an arc of a circle extending over a sector of a circle which covers the evaporator, the air heater and the insulators 6, 7, 8, 9. Like the evaporator 2 and the air heater 3, the air filter 4 is defined by a width, which is its dimension considered along a radial axis of the lower support plate 100, by a height, which is its dimension considered along the axis of revolution of said lower support plate 100, and by a length which is its dimension considered along the circle in which said filter 4 is registered. The air filter 4 has an external diameter which is smaller than the internal diameter of the evaporator 2 and the air heater 3, and is placed on the lower support plate 100 in the space delimited by said evaporator 2 and said air heater 3. The air filter 4 and the assembly constituted by the evaporator 2 and the air heater 3 are arranged concentrically on the lower support plate 100, so that an external surface of said air filter 4 is opposite an internal surface of said assembly.
[0039] Referring to Figures 1, 2 and 3, the mixing flap 5 comprises three concentric walls 10, 11, 12, including an intermediate wall 11, an inner wall 10 and an outer wall 12. The inner wall 10 has the smallest diameter, while the outer wall 12 has the largest diameter, the intermediate wall 11 being inserted between the inner wall 10 and the outer wall 12 with a diameter which is between that of the inner wall 10 and that of the outer wall 12. These three concentric walls 10, 11, 12 are connected to each other by a circular cover 13 provided with a circular central opening 14. Each of the walls 10, 11, 12 of the mixing flap 5 is curved in the shape of an arc of a circle which has an angle which represents 50% of the total angle covered by the air heater, the evaporator, the external insulators 6 or 8 and the internal insulators 7 or 9.The cover 13 of the mixing flap 5 extends in a plane which is parallel to that of the lower support plate 100.
[0040] Referring to Figures 1, 2, 4 and 5, the lower support plate 100 comprises an outer circular rail 15 and an inner circular rail 16 arranged concentrically on the lower support wall 100. These rails 15, 16 form open loops, and extend over an identical sector of a circle, covering the evaporator, the air heater and the 4 insulators. Each of the two rails 15, 16 has a groove extending over the entire length of said rails 15, 16, so that the curved inner wall 10 of the mixing flap 5 is slidably mounted in the inner circular rail 15 and the curved outer wall 12 of said mixing flap 5 is slidably mounted in the outer circular rail 15. In other words, an extension of the curved inner wall 10 and an extension of the curved outer wall 12 enters the groove of the corresponding circular rail 15, 16.The guidance of the walls 10 and 12 is done with rolling parts, fixed in the walls 10 and 12 and guided in the interior of the rails 15 and 16.
[0041] Referring to [Fig. 2], each of the concentric walls 10, 11, 12 of the mixing flap 5 is delimited by rectilinear edges and curved edges, said edges each being covered with a sealing element, which may for example be a seal. In this way, the mixing flap 5 when it is set in motion along the circular rails 15, 16, ensures a good seal with the other constituent elements of the HVAC with respect to the air produced by the air supply device 50.
[0042] Referring to Figures 1, 4 and 5, the mixing flap 5 is mounted on the lower support plate so that: -the intermediate wall 11 and the inner wall 10 enclose the air filter 4, and -the outer wall 12 and the intermediate wall 11 enclose the evaporator 2 and / or the air heater 3, and - the inner wall 10 of the mixing flap 5 is mounted to slide along the inner circular rail 16 and the outer wall 12 of said mixing flap 5 is mounted to slide along the outer circular rail 15.
[0043] Referring to Figures 13, 14, 15, the air supply device 50 is placed inside the space delimited by the circular air filter 4. This air supply device 50 has an air distribution nozzle 17 making it possible to emit air flows radially and in all directions of the space.
[0044] The mixing flap 5 acts as a mask, preventing the air flows emitted by the air supply device 50 from reaching either the evaporator 2, or the air heater 3, or a part of said evaporator 2 and said air heater 3 at the same time. For example, if the mixing flap 5 completely enclosed the evaporator 2, the air from the air supply device 50 could not pass through said evaporator 2 and would therefore pass entirely through the air heater 3.
[0045] Referring to [Fig. 13], the mixing flap 5 can for example be placed entirely around the evaporator 2, and in this configuration, the air blown by the air supply device 50 will be redirected towards the air heater 3 so that the HVAC diffuses hot air.
[0046] Referring to [Fig. 15], the mixing flap 5 can for example be placed entirely around the air heater 3, and in this configuration, the air blown by the air supply device 50 will be redirected towards the evaporator 2 so that the HVAC diffuses cold air.
[0047] Referring to [Fig. 14], the mixing flap 5 can cover part of the air heater 3 and part of the evaporator 2, and in this configuration, the blown air will be a mixture of hot air and cold air. The mixing flap 5 can mainly cover the air heater 3 or the evaporator 2, and in this case the resulting air mixture which will be diffused in the vehicle will be more or less hot or cold. The mixing flap 5 can be controlled to occupy a plurality of positions between a first extreme position for which it completely encloses the evaporator 2 and a second extreme position for which it completely encloses the air heater 3.
[0048] Referring to [Fig. 3], the mixing flap 5 can be moved along the circular rails 15, 16 by means of an electric motor 38 capable of rotating a toothed wheel 37. The cover 13 of the mixing flap 5 has a notched and curved rib 18 having the shape of an arc of a circle. This groove 18 is arranged so concentric on the cover 13, and the toothed wheel 37 interacts with said toothed rib 18 by meshing, a rotation of said toothed wheel 17 by means of an activation of the electric motor 38, causing the pivoting of the mixing flap 5 along the rails 15, 16 of the lower support plate 100, by means of the toothed rib 18.
[0049] Referring to Figures 3, 6 and 8 to 12, the HVAC 1 comprises a cylindrical wall 19 coming into contact with the lower support plate 100, such that the axis of revolution of said cylindrical wall 19 is perpendicular to the plane of said lower support plate 100 and passes through its center. The cylindrical wall 19 which is in contact with a peripheral edge of the lower support plate 100, has a bulge 20 of substantially cylindrical shape, said bulge 20 having three superimposed openings 21, 22, 23. These three openings 21, 22, 23 are each of rectangular shape and are superimposed on each other, such that their short sides are in the extension of each other, and such that their long sides are parallel and placed on top of each other. When the HVAC 1 is mounted in the vehicle, the short sides of these openings 21, 22, 23 extend along a vertical axis and the long sides extend along a horizontal axis. Among these three openings 21, 22, 23, there are: - a lower opening 21 capable of sending air towards the feet of the passengers of the vehicle, - an intermediate opening 22 which is placed just above the lower opening 21 and which is capable of providing a defrosting function, - an upper opening 23 which is placed just above the intermediate opening 22 and which is capable of providing a ventilation function.
[0050] Referring to [Fig.7], the HVAC 1 comprises an air distribution flap 24 mounted in rotation in the cylindrical bulge 20 of the cylindrical wall 19. More precisely, the distribution flap 24 is mounted in rotation in this bulge 20 around an axis of rotation 25 materializing the axis of revolution of said cylindrical bulge 20. This distribution flap 24 comprises a curved wall in the form of a grid making it possible to distinguish four superimposed compartments 26, 27, 28, 29. Among these compartments 26, 27, 28, 29, there are: - a first lower compartment 26 which is full, - a second compartment 27 which is placed just above the first compartment 26 and which is empty, - a third compartment 28 which is placed just above the second compartment 27 and which is full, - a fourth compartment 29 which is placed just above the third compartment 25 and which is empty,
[0051] These four compartments 26, 27, 28, 29 are delimited by rectilinear segments and by curved segments. Since the curved wall in the form of a grid of the distribution flap 24 is brought into contact with an inner surface of the bulge 20, the rectilinear segments and the curved segments delimiting the compartments 26, 27, 28, 29 of the distribution flap 24 are covered by sealing elements which may for example be seals.
[0052] The first compartment 26 and the third compartment 28 which are full, will constitute the two fixed and separate components of the distribution flap 24. Thanks to the interaction between the air distribution flap 24 and the openings 21, 22, 23 of the bulge 20, the HVAC 1 can be found in different modes:
[0053] Only a general ventilation mode as illustrated in [Fig.8], for which the third compartment 28 of the distribution flap 24 conceals the lower 21 and intermediate 22 openings of the bulge 20 of the HVAC 1. The ventilated air is blown generally towards the vents in the dashboard of the vehicle, towards the heads of the people present in the vehicle.
[0054] A general ventilation mode and towards the feet as illustrated in [Fig.9], for which the third compartment 28 of the distribution flap 24 conceals the intermediate opening 22 and a part of the lower opening 21 and the upper opening 23 of the bulge 20. In this position, the distribution flap 24 allows the air to pass through the upper opening 23 and through the lower opening 21.
[0055] A ventilation mode only towards the feet as illustrated in [Fig. 10], for which the third compartment 28 conceals the intermediate 22 and upper 23 openings of the bulge 20. In this position, the distribution flap 24 allows the air to pass only through the lower opening 21.
[0056] A defrosting and ventilation mode towards the feet as illustrated in [Fig. 11], for which the third compartment 28 obscures the upper opening 23 and a part of the intermediate opening 22, and for which the first compartment 26 obscures a part of the lower opening 21.
[0057] A defrosting mode as illustrated in [Fig. 12], and for which the third compartment covers the upper opening 23 and the first compartment 26 covers the lower opening 21. In this position, the distribution flap 24 allows air to pass only through the intermediate opening 22.
[0058] To summarize, the different configurations of the HVAC 1 are obtained for a particular position of the mixing flap 5 which will adjust the temperature of the blown air, and for a particular position of the distribution flap 24 which will orient the direction of said blown air in space.
