The invention is a unitary cantilever liftgate that attaches to the vehicle body instead of the vehicle chassis. The liftgate may be fully assembled and tested prior to installation on the vehicle body. This greatly reduces installation time while improving performance and reliability. Various features such as steps, bumpers and brackets are integrated into the liftgate. Further, the liftgate is preferably configured so that multiple units can be stacked together for shipping and ease of unloading and loading. The stackability of the liftgates simplifies storing as well, by removing the necessity of storing several components separately.

A safety barrier for wheelchair lifts is disclosed, and more particularly a safety barrier assembly which can be used singly or in opposed pairs to open automatically and mechanically in cafe-style, rotating 90 DEG from a first closed or barrier position to a second, open, pass-through position. More particularly, these barriers may be used as barriers on wheelchair lift platforms or at the door opening of a van or transit vehicles on which a wheelchair lift is mounted. A ramp assembly (20) having a frame attachable to a vehicle having a floor is disclosed. The ramp assembly further includes a platform coupled to a portion of the frame, a ramp having a weight, and a reciprocating mechanism disposed between the ramp and the platform coupled to a portion of the frame. The ramp assembly also includes a reciprocating mechanism disposed between the ramp and the platform for reciprocating the ramp between a deployed position and a stowed position in response to a load. The reciprocating mechanism counterbalancing the weight of the ramp during actuation of the ramp between the deployed and stowed positions to reduce the load required to reciprocate the ramp between the deployed and stowed positions.

A forklift safety sensor and control system for preventing unsafe wear on the bottom surface of the fork. A fork height sensor detects when the fork is below a predefined threshold height at which the bottom surface is in close proximity to the ground or is in contact with the ground. The sensor sends a height signal to a system controller. In response, the controller sends a lockout signal to a lockout device, which prevents the forklift's drive mechanism from moving the forklift relative to the ground. The controller may also send an alert to the driver. When the fork is raised above the threshold height, the lockout is removed.

A lifting attachment is disclosed for use in conjunction with a trailer hitch mounted to a vehicle. The lifting attachment includes a support assembly which is detachably connected to the trailer hitch and this support assembly includes a vertically extending support beam. The attachment includes a platform having a generally planar top and an elongated arm having one end pivotally connected to the platform and a second end pivotally connected to the support beam. A hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly is pivotally connected between the support beam and an intermediate point on the arm so that extension and retraction of the piston within the cylinder selectively raises and lowers the platform.

A vehicle access system for moving a passenger between the vehicle and ground. Some embodiments have an electrical system, a motive source coupled to the electrical system, an arm coupled to the motive source, a platform coupled to the arm, and a safety restraint system coupled to the electrical system and the platform. The vehicle access system has at least a vehicle access position and a ground access position, wherein the passenger can safely access the platform at either access position. The platform is unable to move from either access position until the safety restraint system is in place. Once operation of the access system has begun, it can continue to operate and move the passenger to one of the access positions even if the safety restraint system is subsequently removed.

A lift device for loading game animals or other objects, onto the cargo rack of an ATV. The lift device includes a vertical support frame member adapted for attachment to the rear of an ATV. A horizontally extending base support member is pivotally attached at one end thereof to the bottom of the vertical support frame member; a loading platform is pivotally hinged to the opposite end of the horizontally extending base support member. A cable is attached to the base support member and a winch, mounted on the vertical support frame member, moves the cable to move the lift device from a loading position on the ground to a loaded position wherein the game animal is secured by the loading platform on the top of the ATV cargo rack.

The invention includes a lift apparatus for supporting an object in the proximity of a vehicle traversing a terrain. The lift apparatus includes a mounting plate that is mounted to the vehicle, and a platform to support and carry the object. The lift apparatus also includes an arm assembly having a pair of parallel gear arms. The arm assembly is pivotally connected to the mounting plate at an upper end of the arm assembly, and is pivotally connected to the platform at a lower end of the arm assembly. A drive motor assembly is mounted to the mounting plate and is laterally offset from the gear arms. A link extends between the drive motor assembly and one of the gear arms to rotate the gear arms about their upper ends, thereby raising the platform.

A running board system is provided for the light truck market, where a beam of the running board is removable to double as a ramp. For example, a single one of these beams can be used to guide a motorcycle onto a truck bed, or alternatively a pair of these removable beams can be used to provide a ramp for guiding a two wheel cart (e.g., hand truck), four wheel vehicle, or snowmobile onto the truck bed. The invention provides a moveable underride system that may be used with lifts such as stow lifts. The underride system includes an underride member and a linkage mechanism for coupling the underride member to a support frame, wherein the linkage mechanism moves the underride member between an extended position and a retracted position. In the extended position the underride member is at a first distance from the frame, and in the retracted position the underride is at a second distance from the frame, such that the first distance (for the extended position) is larger than the second distance (for the retracted position).

A cargo space includes a rear lift gate moveable between opened and closed positions to allow movement of palletized containers into and out of the cargo space. The cargo space has a substantially horizontal floor with first and second sets of laterally spaced, parallel, longitudinal tracks. The tracks extend from the front to the lift gate at the rear of the cargo space. At least one set of tracks is positioned transverse to the longitudinal tracks. The tracks slidably support cargo container pallets. A cargo loading and unloading system mounts to a vehicle's flat surface and is contained within the vehicle's constraints. The system includes a rolling platform attached to a tilting frame, which in turn pivots on top of a sliding extension frame, which in turn extends from a base frame. The extension frame is pushed toward the vehicle's rear. As the extension frame moves rearward, a tilt initiator lifts one end of the tilting frame from the flat surface, initiating tilting. The tilting frame continues to pivot upward about the vehicle's rear. The cargo platform rolls out or down to a loading or unloading surface. Once cargo is loaded or unloaded, the platform is raised back onto the tilting frame. The tilting frame pivots downwards towards the flat surface and lands on the extension frame. The extension frame is pulled back into the base frame.

A lift assembly for use with an all-terrain vehicle has a mount assembly attachable to the ATV, a platform and a pivot assembly moving the platform from a loading position close to the ground, to an elevated position above or close to the level of a cargo rack of the ATV. The lift assembly may be used for lifting bales of hay, bags of seeds, carcasses of animals and other heavy cargo to a pre-determined distance above the ground. The automatic guided vehicle comprises a vehicle body with a controller, wherein a vehicle head is arranged at the first end of the upper surface of the vehicle body; a drive assembly is arranged below the vehicle body; a liftable cargo carrying table surface is arranged behind the vehicle head on the vehicle body; an ultrasonic sensor is arranged on the lower surface of the cargo carrying table surface; a noncontact sensor is arranged below the front surface of the vehicle head to detect peripheral barriers during running of the automatic guide transport vehicle; a key hole, a touch screen, a caution light and a USB interface are arranged at the top end of the vehicle head; the drive assembly comprises wheels, a magnetic sensor, an axle, a first drive motor and a fourth drive motor. The automatic guided vehicle has the advantages that cargos can be automatically carried to a cargo carrying platform when being picked up and delivered by the AGV (Automatic Guided Vehicle) each time and the automation and intelligentization level of the automatic guide transport vehicle is improved.

A lift includes a first telescoping member including a flange for attaching the lift to a vehicle, a second telescoping member coupled to the first telescoping member, and a tool coupled to the second telescoping member, wherein the tool is movable along two orthogonal axes of motion as determined by the two telescoping members. The telescoping members include at least two nested slides. A first slide includes a first pair of rollers on one side thereof and a second pair of rollers opposite the first pair. The second slide includes a pair of opposed U-shaped channels that enclose the rollers to provide a telescoping action. If one axis of motion is vertical, a block is included between each pair of rollers. Each block is dimensioned to engage the bottom of a channel, whereby the blocks help stabilize the motion of the first slide. Motion along two axes is controlled by actuation of a single switch.

An auxiliary assembly for attachment to a truck bed, the truck bed having pivoting bale lift arms, and the truck bed further having a hydraulic ram powered bale arm actuator, the assembly including a cargo carrying frame, left and right releasably attachable and pivoting mounts for interconnecting the cargo carrier and distal ends of the bale lift arms, and a pair of cargo leveling arms pivotally mounted to span between and interconnect the truck bed and with the cargo carrier for simultaneous and substantially parallel leveling arm motion, the leveling arm motion stabilizing the cargo carrier during pivoting motions of the bale lift arms.

A vehicle-mountable cargo transport apparatus configured for association with a motor vehicle so that the motor vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) up to about 10,000 lbs and may be capable of transporting a cargo up to about 3,500 lbs or more and a motor vehicle including a vehicle-mountable cargo transport apparatus are disclosed. The motor vehicle includes a chassis cab or cutaway chassis and the vehicle-mountable cargo transport apparatus. The extensible spacer mechanism is configured for reversibly increasing a distance of the cargo-carrying unit with respect to the ground so as to accommodate at least one of receiving and delivering a cargo at a conventional loading dock. The cargo-carrying unit is configured for at least one of receiving and delivering a cargo at a conventional loading dock; at least the other of receiving and delivering the cargo at street level, and securing the cargo to maintain the cargo's integrity for delivery.

This invention provides elevating storage apparatus (10) for storing an article or articles in an elevated position from which the article(s) cannot be vertically lowered because an obstacle obscures the space there beneath. To achieve this the article(s) which are supported on article support means (14) are moved outwardly with the article support means (14) supported by a pair of spaced apart slide assemblies (11, 12) for longitudinal movement between the stowed elevated position above the obscuring obstacle and a withdrawn elevated position forward of the obstacle. The article support means (14) is connected to the slide assemblies (11, 12) by links (52, 53) which enable the article support means to be raised and lowered between substantially vertically aligned withdrawn elevated position and the lower accessible position. Control means (60) is provided for selectively raising and lowering the article support means (14) relative to the slide assemblies (11, 12) and for moving the article support means to and from its stowed elevated position.

In a swinging apparatus (rotatively moving and swinging apparatus), a swing arm 51 positions a rotatively moving pedestal 45 and a cushion base 51. The swing arm 51 is swung around a driving shaft 60 to swing the cushion base 51, that is, to elevate or lower the cushion base 51 and to move it forward or backward. The cushion base 51 supports a seat portion 30. When the seat is in a forward position in which it is directed toward the front of the vehicle, the swing arm 55 diagonally connects the members 51 and 45 together (Z type). This prevents, in the forward position, the swing arm 55 from extending upward from the cushion base 51 or the rotatively moving pedestal 45 from extending laterally from the seat portion 30. Therefore, the size of the apparatus can be reduced across the width and height.

A device for movably mounting a storage container in relation to the storage bed of a pickup truck. The device includes a container support frame with a mounting member configured to be fixedly secured in relation to the pickup truck storage bed, and a lift arm having a first end coupled to the container support frame for pivotal movement about a first pivot axis and a second end configured to be coupled to the storage container for pivotal movement about a second pivot axis. The second end of the lift arm is movable along an arcuate path about the first pivot axis between a stowed position in which the storage container is disposed between the side rails and an extended position in which the storage container is disposed above a side rail. The storage container is pivotable about the second pivot axis to maintain an upright orientation in the stowed and extended positions, providing a variety of convenient access and storage options. Also, the frame can be confined to a very small portion of the storage bed or hidden within existing components of the storage bed to allow substantially unimpeded top and rear access to the storage bed.
