The invention relates to apparatus and method for ultrasonically stimulating cartilage growth. The apparatus includes at least one ergonomically constructed ultrasonic transducer configured to cooperate with a placement module or strip for placement in proximity to an area where cartilage growth is desired. The apparatus also utilizes a portable, ergonomically constructed main operating unit constructed to fit within a pouch worn by the patient. In operation, at least one ultrasonic transducer positioned in proximity to an osteochondral site is excited for a predetermined period of time. To ensure that at least one ultrasonic transducer is properly positioned, and to insure compliance with a treatment protocol, a safety interlock is provided to prevent inadvertent excitation of the at least one ultrasonic transducer.

Liquid infusion apparatus includes non-magnetic materials in a pumping structure and ultrasonic drive motor therefor, and in a controller that supplies drive signals to the motor to facilitate convenient operation in intense magnetic fields without distorting the magnetic fields and without radiating objectionable radio-frequency interference. A safety barrier for wheelchair lifts is disclosed, and more particularly a safety barrier assembly which can be used singly or in opposed pairs to open automatically and mechanically in cafe-style, rotating 90 DEG from a first closed or barrier position to a second, open, pass-through position. More particularly, these barriers may be used as barriers on wheelchair lift platforms or at the door opening of a van or transit vehicles on which a wheelchair lift is mounted. The barriers typically are shaped like the letter P with the lower most barrier member being spaced from twelve inches to two feet above the floor, and which are designed to prevent wheelchairs from rolling out of the van when the platform has left the transfer level (vehicle floor), and as a safety barrier in the case of runaway wheelchair events. The preferred embodiment of the gate is mounted to a pivotal cam slot/bias spring assembly which provides for stable open and shut positions with spring/gravity assisted closure. The preferred embodiment also includes a safety interlock switch circuit which prevents lift platform motion when the gate barrier is open.

An interdependent control apparatus for an accessory mounted to a vehicle. An accessory control connector is connected to the vehicle's on board diagnostic port data bus and an accessory microcontroller is in data communication with the accessory control connector. An output device associated with and operating a component of the accessory is in data communication with the accessory microcontroller for control of an accessory parameter. Parameters of a vehicle are also controlled by the accessory microcontroller. Data from the accessory is also input to the accessory microcontroller representing a parameter of the accessory. Data is input from both the data bus and the vehicle accessory to the accessory microcontroller. Output control data from the accessory microcontroller can control a vehicle parameter and most importantly controls an accessory parameter. This is particularly useful for safety interlocks to stop the engine operation in response to a potentially hazardous event, such as a change in one or more of the vehicle input parameters.

An interlock system is for a bypass transfer switch including first, second, third and fourth circuit breakers. An interlock prevents the switch from closing during the time the hair dryer is inserted in a base for charging the battery and heating the heater via an electrical power source. A controller, control system and method for controlling an auxiliary device comprising a wheelchair lift, ramp, or the like are provided. An exemplary embodiment of the auxiliary device controller is microprocessor-based and communicates with a vehicle's OEM controller for receiving a plurality of sensor inputs, which originate from OEM and auxiliary sensors, process the sensor inputs, and control various OEM and auxiliary systems relative to the sensor inputs to effect a number of safety interlocks. The controller may operate to coordinate various OEM and auxiliary subsystems to automate auxiliary device operation to reduce operator error.

A safety interlock system for a flow control apparatus is disclosed that permits operation when a magnet-less administration feeding set is properly mounted to recess formed along the housing of the flow control apparatus. The administration feeding set comprises flexible patient tubing having a support member at one end and a mounting member including a magnetically-susceptible metallic component at the other end thereof. A sensing arrangement is provided by the flow control apparatus for sensing the proper engagement of the metallic component to the recess of the flow control apparatus. A pressure cooker includes a cooking pot and a lid removably attachable thereto by interlocking radially-extending circumferentially-spaced locking flanges on the cooking pot and lid. An interlock assembly for a circuit breaker housing assembly and a circuit breaker extraction device wherein the interlock assembly has a first and second component. The first component is coupled to a circuit breaker housing assembly and the second component is coupled to a circuit breaker extraction device. The first component includes a rail obstruction assembly that is structured to move between a first position, wherein the movable rail obstruction element blocks a circuit breaker wheel from traveling over a circuit breaker housing assembly rail, and a second position, wherein the movable rail obstruction element is spaced from the circuit breaker housing assembly rail so that a wheel may travel over the circuit breaker housing assembly rail. The second component is structured to engage the first component when the circuit breaker extraction device is brought adjacent to the circuit breaker housing assembly and to move the movable rail obstruction element from the first position to the second position.

A pump set for use with a pump to deliver a supply of liquid to a patient. The feeding set has a conduit for the nutrient liquid and a safety interlock device associated with the conduit. The pumping apparatus has a pumping device and a control system for controlling operation of the pump. An electromagnetic radiation source is operatively connected to the control system of the pump for emitting an electromagnetic radiation signal in a direction for striking the safety interlock device of the feeding set. The safety interlock device is adapted to affect the direction of the electromagnetic radiation. An electromagnetic radiation detector is operatively connected to the control system for receiving the electromagnetic radiation signal when the direction is affected by the safety interlock device, and providing an indication to the control system that the feeding set conduit is properly positioned in the feeding pump.
