A method and a door arrangement for a switchgear enclosure, with the enclosure having a top and bottom panel, a back panel and two opposing side panels. The enclosure includes an interior framework supporting a draw-out circuit breaker. The door arrangement comprises a front extension coupled to the enclosure. An exterior door is pivotably mounted in an offset position to the front extension and configured to move from one of a closed position and an open position on one side of the enclosure. The breaker door is pivotably mounted to the interior framework and configured to move from one of a closed position and an open position on another side of the enclosure and move clear of the offset exterior door.

A system and method for connecting supply power to motor control components includes use of a motor control center subunit with moveable supply power contacts. After a motor control center subunit is secured into a motor control center compartment, the supply power contacts may be advanced to engage supply power buses. A closure device for a withdrawable rack adapted for receiving power circuit breaker includes a plate arrangement having at least two plates provided with openings and movable relative to one another so that the plate arrangement is changeable between an open position in which the openings of the plates are in alignment and a closed position in which the openings are out of alignment. An actuating mechanism is acted upon by the power circuit breaker as it is inserted to cause a movement of at least one of the plates to thereby change the plate arrangement between the closed and open positions. The actuating mechanism includes two V-shaped linkage assemblies. Each linkage assembly has two legs connected by a hinge to allow the linkage assembly to spread apart, with one of the legs having a free end which is connected to the at least one of the plates, and a coupler is connected to the hinge. The main switch conveying apparatus for a vacuum circuit breaker installed in a cage having electrical load and source terminals, the main switch conveying apparatus includes a carriage for conveying the main switch loaded on the carriage in such a manner that the main switch is coupled to or separated from the terminals, a carriage actuating assembly including a lead screw for providing a driving force to move the carriage and provided with braking recesses at the predetermined positions on the lead screw in such a manner that the carriage is stopped at a test position, a safety position and a run position of the main switch, and a conveying nut fixed on the carriage to mesh with the lead screw and movable together with the carriage relatively to the lead screw, a girder assembly detachably supported on both front sidewalls of the cage for supporting one end of the lead screw to rotate, a brake assembly installed on the carriage for stopping the carriage by locking the lead screw at positions of the braking recesses; and a brake releasing assembly for releasing the locking of the brake assembly. The carriage having the main switch loaded thereon moves along the lead screw, while allowing the main switch to be positioned in the safety, test and run positions of the main switch. The user easily recognizes the position of the main switch. If the main switch conveying apparatus is inversely operated, the movement of the main circuit is stopped so that the main circuit is precisely and rapidly moved.

The circuit breaker includes a protruding nose portion that is engaged by the first and second seal members in a manner that sealingly engages the nose portion. The arrangement of the first and second seal members and the nose portion provides for the sealing engagement to be maintained when the circuit breaker is moved from a first position in which the circuit breaker is not electrically connected to the number of conductors and a second position in which the circuit breaker is electrically connected to the number of conductors.

A motor control center subunit includes a subunit housing configured to fit within a motor control center and a subunit disconnect configured to selectively control a supply power to motor control components of the subunit housing. A control mechanism is attached to the subunit housing to activate and deactivate the subunit disconnect and a remote control device communicates with the control mechanism and is configured to operate the control mechanism to activate and deactivate the subunit disconnect.

An interlock assembly for a circuit breaker housing assembly and a circuit breaker extraction device wherein the interlock assembly has a first and second component. The first component is coupled to a circuit breaker housing assembly and the second component is coupled to a circuit breaker extraction device. The first component includes a rail obstruction assembly that is structured to move between a first position, wherein the movable rail obstruction element blocks a circuit breaker wheel from traveling over a circuit breaker housing assembly rail, and a second position, wherein the movable rail obstruction element is spaced from the circuit breaker housing assembly rail so that a wheel may travel over the circuit breaker housing assembly rail. The second component is structured to engage the first component when the circuit breaker extraction device is brought adjacent to the circuit breaker housing assembly and to move the movable rail obstruction element from the first position to the second position.

An exhaust system for exhausting gases and molten debris caused by an electric arc within a switchgear. The exhaust system includes a switchgear having lower and upper compartments and an exhaust unit externally mounted to the switchgear. A wall panel of the switchgear includes blow out panels coinciding with openings in the lower compartment and corresponding ventilation flaps in a top surface of the exhaust unit to exhaust gas from the lower compartment out the blow out panels in a vertical direction, exiting through the flaps. The upper compartment includes ventilation flaps for exhausting gas in a vertical direction directly through the flaps and optionally through side-mounted blow out panels that communicate with the vertical vent path to the flaps in the top of the exhaust unit. A bus compartment in the exhaust unit includes a vent path to flaps in the top of the exhaust unit for exhausting gas produced by bus arcing.

Provided is a GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) with a withdrawable circuit breaker unit including a main bus compartment having a main bus-bar unit, a transfer bus compartment including a transfer bus-bar unit, a sealing circuit breaker compartment including a circuit breaker unit and an outgoing compartment including a current transforming unit and a cable terminal being electrically coupled to the transfer bus-bar unit. The circuit breaker unit is contained in the sealing circuit breaker compartment that is separately independent from other compartments. The circuit breaker unit is withdrawn and inserted without interrupting power supply of the outgoing compartment. The circuit breaker unit is electrically coupled to or isolated with the main bus-bar unit and the current transforming unit according to whether the circuit breaker unit is withdrawn from or inserted to the sealing circuit breaker compartment. The sealing circuit breaker compartment and the outgoing compartment do not share insulation gas.

An apparatus and method for cable management via hook and loop type materials are provided. The apparatus includes a substrate and a tie wrap. In at least one embodiment, the substrate is coupled to a rigid frame that is capable of accommodating a plurality of cables. The substrate and the tie wrap each have engaging mechanisms that enable them to create a hook and loop type releasable bond when pressed into contact with each other. The tie wrap is shaped to define an elongated body and a head portion having an interior opening. The body of the tie wrap may be pulled through the interior opening of the head portion in order to provide support for cables.
