The invention relates to a method for batch upgrading an optical network terminal (ONT) in a Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) system, including the following steps: A. a optical line terminal (OLT) starts to download a version-upgrading document and sends the upgrading-starting message to the dominated ONT which prepares a storing space according to the length of a version-upgrading document after receiving the upgrading-starting message and returns an answering message to the upgrading-starting message; B. the OLT splits the version-upgrading document into a plurality of segments which are sealed in the message of downloading upgrading data and broadcasted to the dominated ONT through a broadcasting channel; C. after all the segments of the version-upgrading document are delivered, the OLT sends an upgrading-ending message, which carries a length of document and a checksum of the version-upgrading document, to the ONT, the ONT adopts the same algorithm for checksum with OLT for calculating the checksum of the length of document of version-upgrading document carried in the upgrading-ending message, and if the calculated checksum is same as the checksum carried in the upgrading-ending message, the version-upgrading document is wholly received.
