An LED apparatus including (a) a mounting board, (b) a plurality of LED packages thereon, (c) a lens member over each LED package, and (d) a safety barrier positioned over the mounting board, the barrier having sufficient thickness for enclosure of electrical elements on the mounting board and including a plurality of openings each sized to permit light from an LED package to pass therethrough and through a light-transmission portion of the lens member over such LED package to prevent finger-contact of electrical elements on the mounting board when the light-transmission portion is not present.

An articulating platform (20) that is used to vary the longitudinal and lateral angular displacement of an exercise bicycle (22) mounted thereon. The platform includes a bicycle mounting base (24) configured to accept the footprint of a conventionally dimensioned exercise bicycle. A portable safety barrier that can be set up across a drive way or other path to provide a visible and physical indication of a safe zone boundary particularly for children. Netting attached to a core or reel disposed in a housing forms the barrier. The netting is free to deploy from the housing for attachment to a remote post; both the housing and post including an auger for anchoring the housing and post to ground. The housing has a rewind system to reel in the netting which includes a gear train for mechanical advantage. The rewind system operates manually and with out a bias assist. A selectively operated stop cooperates with the rewind system to tighten the netting after deployment and keeps the netting taut.

A retractable barrier includes a rollup or otherwise retractable panel that can extend between two spaced apart support members. When not in use, the panel can retract onto one of the support members to permit passage. The barrier provides substantial impact resistance by having the reactive force of the impact transfer directly between the barrier's retractable panel and its support members without having to rely on the strength of the panel's take-up roller or the strength of the roller's anti-rotation mechanism. This can be accomplished by having a slot-engaging stop member mounted directly to the panel itself. The stop member is preferably a pipe, rod, bar or some other vertically elongate member that can broadly distribute an impact reactive force over the height of the panel. In some embodiments, the barrier can be set for various doorway widths by simply repositioning the stop member's location on the retractable panel.

A catheter insertion device with an automatic safety barrier includes a housing, a barrier member, and a biasing element. The housing includes a central bore configured to receive a needle therethrough, and further includes a channel extending through the housing and intersecting the central bore. The barrier member is hingedly coupled to the housing, and includes a leg to extend through the channel. An opening in the leg substantially aligns with the central bore to accommodate the needle therethrough. The biasing element biases the barrier member relative to the housing such that withdrawing the needle through the opening causes the biasing element to misalign the opening with the central bore, thereby occluding the central bore to shield an end of the needle.

An apparatus and method for providing a portable, rapid deployable barrier system which utilizes autonomous operation and one or more gas generators to rapidly activate the barrier. The invention includes a barrier component installed beneath the ground surface or substantially parallel to the ground and raised by activation of the gas generator. The device can be trigger automatically without human intervention and thereby faster deployment of the barrier. The invention permits the passage of pedestrians, vehicles, etc. or activation into a barrier position.

A safety barrier for road use comprises a barrier element which can be displaced between an operative position, above the road surface, and an inoperative position, in which it does not substantially project above the road surface. Preferably provided is a number of sets of aligned barrier elements, rigidly connected to one another, the adjacent sets being connected together by articulated connecting structures which enable one set of barrier elements to be displaced between its inoperative position and its operative position without modifying the positions of the adjacent sets. The portable traffic safety barrier is formed of plastic or recycled rubber, and has a narrower upper portion and wider cap atop the upper portion to form a mushroom-shaped cross section. Elongate passages are formed through each barrier section, and a spring is installed in at least one passage to connect the barriers resiliently to one another end-to-end. A door safety barrier for being positioned adjacent a doorway having a door mounted therein for interfering with movement of the door relative to the doorway. The door safety barrier defines a security opening between the door and the doorway for preventing entry therethrough, and includes a housing for being embedded into a floor adjacent the door. The housing defines a chamber therein. An elongate plunger is positioned within the chamber for reciprocating movement between an extended, operative position above the floor for engaging a side of the door to prevent movement of the door past the plunger, and a retracted, inoperative position below the bottom of the door for permitting passage of the door over the plunger. A latch assembly cooperates with the housing and the plunger for alternately locking the plunger in the extended, operative and retracted inoperative positions, respectively.

A wet concrete recycling system for mixing trucks returning to the cement plant throughout the workday. “Residual-collection” molds, kept on-hand at the plant, are filled with any excess wet concrete present in the returning trucks. The molds are configured to form finished components such as roadway barrier sections (i.e. jersey walls), and the like. The finished components are low in cost due to the use of recycled wet concrete, inexpensive reinforcing materials, and handles/assembly elements fabricated from other recycled materials. The finished components may be assembled into continuous roadway safety barrier walls. All structures assembled from two or more of the finished components are inexpensive due to the low cost of the individual components, easily constructed, and may be permanent or temporary in nature.
