System and method for introducing multiple medical devices

A method and apparatus for introducing a first elongate medical device and short wire guide that are coupled together into a work site and remotely disconnecting them within the work site such that a secondary device comprising a catheter member can be introduced over the wire guide to the work site, and / or a second wire guide can be introduced to the work site via a passageway of the primary access device. A separating member may be provided to remotely separate the wire guide from the elongate medical device. A system of indicia, such as radiopaque or viewable markers, permits the operator to monitor the relative alignment of the devices within the work site to determine when uncoupling has occurred. In one example of the method, a wire guide and primary access device (e.g., a sphincterotome) is coupled to the wire guide and introduced via a duodenoscope into the biliary system. After performing a first medical operation, the devices are uncoupled with the wire guide being left within the biliary system such that a secondary access device, such as a balloon, biopsy device, stent delivery catheter, dilator, etc., can be introduced to perform a second medical operation without a traditional over-the-wire exchange being required. In another example of the method, a prosthesis, such as a valve or stent, is placed within the work site coupled to a wire guide which is remotely disconnected within the work site and a secondary device, such as a dilation balloon or second prosthesis, is introduced into the work site after the first delivery system is removed.

Disclosed is an Internet-based database system and method (ASP), that enables school districts and temporary employment agencies to automate the dispatching (24 / 7) of pre-qualified substitute / temporary personnel to specified school / work site locations for specific absent employees / job openings. The system includes a profile database of permanent and substitute (temporary) employees, positions, skills, working dates / shifts, rates of pay, work sites, lesson plans / comments, reasons for absence and corresponding budget codes. Approved substitute / temporary employees may access the database using a multi-level access and secure logon code through their Internet-based browser device. The software filters job / position information to match specific job openings to the skills, qualifications (certification), preferences and availability of the substitute / temporary employee / s. As job openings (absences) are entered into the system by employees, the school district or employment agency, job details are immediately available through Internet “distributed technology” to all appropriate substitute / temporary employees through their web browser device. Substitute / temporary employees may review, accept, or reject, each job opening. They may also change their availability, work preferences, preferred locations and electronic address, i.e. e-mail address / pager or other device. When a new job order is entered, requested substitutes are notified immediately. The system utilizes e-mail / e-page or other wireless browser devices to inform them that a current job position is available.

Short wire stent delivery system with splittable outer sheath

A delivery system and method for introducing a self-expanding prosthesis into a work site of a patient. The delivery system is introduced to the work site over an elongate guiding member. The delivery system is subsequently uncoupled from the guiding member upon deployment of the prosthesis while remaining within the work site. In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the delivery system comprises an elongate outer member slidably disposed about an elongate inner member. A self-expanding prosthesis is disposed within the outer member and is laterally constrained thereby in a compressed delivery configuration, and is constrained against longitudinal movement relative to the inner member. The inner member further comprises a passageway extending through the distal portion thereof the passageway extending between a distal opening near the distal end of the inner member and a proximal opening spaced proximally from the distal end of the inner member. The outer member comprises an opening in communication with the proximal opening of the inner member. The inner and outer members are configured to allow a guiding member disposed through the passageway and openings to pass laterally out of the passageway and openings upon proximal movement of the outer member relative to the inner member and deployment of the prosthesis.

Traveler home-work location identification and trip chain depicting method based on mobile phone signaling data

The invention discloses a traveler home-work location identification and trip chain depicting method based on mobile phone signaling data, and belongs to the field of analysis of transportation planning data. The method comprises the steps of: triggering an information database by communication network records provided by a mobile network operator; after cleaning, integrating and calculating by using a position conversion algorithm, converting the data of the operator into a reference dataset; aiming at each user, converting the dataset into a mobile time-space trajectory, identifying stopover points, high frequency points and long time points in the mobile time-space trajectory, and on the basis, identifying home-work locations, activity target locations and insignificant stopover points; and finally depicting a closed trip chain of the user by being combined with the mobile time-space trajectory. The traveler home-work location identification and trip chain depicting method based on mobile phone signaling data has the advantages of being conductive to reducing trip survey costs of residents, obtaining more precision trip characteristics of crowds with different identities, and thereby allowing the traffic demand forecasting to be more accurate; and 2, being conductive to improving scientificity of planning layout construction, such as transport corridors, public transit networks and traffic facilities, in urban traffic planning.
