Impact Shock Absorbing Material

Impact shock absorbing material to be incorporated into protective gear or clothing. The impact shock absorbing material is a laminated material, having a shear-thickening layer and a shock absorbing layer, that is a honeycomb material. The laminated material is incorporated into protective headgear, sports gear, clothing, and a host of other articles that are worn for protection against impact shock. The shear-thickening layer shunts the local impact forces over a greater area of the underlying shock absorbing layer, thereby reducing the force at the point of impact. The vertical walls of the honeycomb layer buckle under the incoming force, thereby diffusing the direction of force away from direct alignment with the body wearing the impact-shock-absorbing material. Protective gear made of the impact shock absorbing material significantly reduces forces imparted to the body as a result of a fall, blow, or other sudden impact.

Biomechanics aware protective gear

Protective gear includes an outer shell layer connected to a middle shell layer through an outer energy and impact transformer layer. The middle shell layer is connected to an inner shell layer through an inner energy and impact transformer layer. The outer and inner energy and impact transformer layers flexibly connect the shell layers to absorb impact threes, rotational forces, shear forces, etc., and allow the various shell layers to move and slide relative to the other shell layers. The outer and inner energy and impact transformer layers may be constructed using gels, fluids, electro-rheological elements, magneto-theological elements, etc. The protective gear may be firmed as helmets or body protection for various activities and protect users from not only impact and penetrative forces, but rotational and shear forces as well.

Shear reduction mechanism

Protective gear such as a helmet includes multiple layers including an outer ball bearing layer and / or one or more energy and impact transformer layers. The ball bearing layer exposes multiple ball bearings on the outer surface of the protective gear to deflect and diminish shear forces and other rotational forces imparted onto the outer surface. In many examples, the ball bearings on the outer surface prevent the transfer of shear and rotational forces from the surface of a helmet onto a skull. The energy and impact transformer layers may also include various structures and materials used to dissipate mechanical energy applied to an outer layer or outer shell layer.

Energy and impact transformer layer

Protective gear such as a helmet includes multiple shell layers connected through energy and impact transformer layers. The energy and impact transformer layers may include conical structures used to dissipate mechanical energy applied to an outer shell layer while allowing an outer shell layer the ability to rotate with respect to a middle or inner shell layer. The conical structures may be three dimensional pyramids, three dimensional parabolic structures, and may be outwardly or inwardly oriented.

Protective gear for a wearer's body such as the joint of a limb, that has an attachment system with few components, and integrated with the protective gear. The attachment system uses straps that can be adjusted by a wearer once during a first use and, after removal, retain their adjustments for a second use by the same wearer. Securing the attachment system in place can be accompanied by an auditory signal.

Intelligent protective gear bracing mechanism

Protective gear such as a helmet includes an intelligent bracing mechanism such as an intelligent neck bracing mechanism. The intelligent bracing mechanism detects imminent mechanical forces such as impact, shear, and rotational forces and stiffens the bracing mechanism so that forces imparted onto the protective gear can be distributed to one or more other locations. In one example, a sensor detects an imminent mechanical force impact on an outer shell of a helmet and stiffens a neck brace connected to the helmet to distribute some of the energy from the impact onto the shoulders.

Composite devices and methods for providing protection against traumatic tissue injury

Articles including protective gear for a variety of sports and activities provide protection from one or both of linear and angular forces that either directly or indirectly impact the gear when it is donned. The articles include at least two layers of material that provide multimodal energy dissipation to minimize the extent of transmission of impact forces to tissue.

Cowl Neck Barrier Gown With Attachments

This invention offers a fully protective cowl neck garment with various fasteners designed to attach additional protective gear, such as gloves and shoe coverings. Additionally, a temperature sensor shield is located on the hat and protective mask. This allows the clients or patients the ability to see and to monitor the temperature of their caregivers. The caregiver's temperature is visible on the hat, as well as the face mask. This makes the caregivers accountable to their clients or patients, as well as their colleagues and coworkers. This invention eliminates the worry of contact with infectious diseases or dangerous liquids, by utilizing elastic manual ties and hook-and-loop fasteners to ensure the garment is secured fully on a user's body. Overall, this invention ensures medical professionals, firemen, emergency medical personnel, government workers, and so forth, are protected fully from contagious and infectious diseases, liquids, and so forth.

Self-heating hot compress material composition, self-heating hot bag, and preparation method thereof

The invention relates to a self-heating hot compress material composition, a self-heating hot bag, and a preparation method thereof. The hot compress material composition comprises: (a) reduced iron powder, sodium chloride, and active carbon; (b) 5-700 mesh wormwood powder; (c) a sustained-release agent and a water retention agent; and (d) water. According to the invention, wormwood is added into the self-heating hot compress material, such that volatile matters with illness-dispelling effect in wormwood is effectively combined with the self-heating hot compress material. A proper heating temperature and a proper heating time are utilized, such that a wormwood hot-moxibustion health-care function is fully utilized. Also, a specially shaped protective gear shape consistent with a human joint is adopted, such that a position requiring hot compress can be heated, and the traditional Chinese volatile component with a certain treatment effect can penetrate into the position requiring hot compress.
