Electronic bill presentment and payment systems and processes

EBPP systems and processes which employ a common document model/data model to accommodate the interests and preferences of billers, customers, financial institutions, other EBPP organizations and others in the context of EBPP specifically and electronic commerce more generally. The common document model/data model allows the biller to outsource billing activities to the EBPP organization while retaining control over the billing information or how or where bills will be presented. Billers are incentivized to use the system because they avoid the expense and effort of building a customized system in house, but get the same advantages of an in house system while leveraging the expertise of an outside EBPP organization who operates across a range of industries, customers, geographical locations and financial fields. The systems also allow billers enhanced opportunities to build brand and customer relationships not offered in paper-based billing systems. Customers are incentivized to use the system because they can pay all or most all of their bills in one place, the place of their choice with bills presented how they choose, and because they may communicate more effectively with billers if and when things go wrong rather than wasting inordinate time on the telephone attempting to sort things out with uninformed people as is often the case in paper based billing systems where the relevant data never seems to catch up with the biller's customer service personnel. The result is a ubiquitous EBPP presence that makes everyone's life easier and better by reducing bill generation and payment burdens.

Method and apparatus for over-the-air activation of neighborhood cordless-type services

A method for providing a local cordless-type service comprises the steps of receiving subscriber neighborhood zone selection input so that a mobile telephone equipped subscriber may place or receive calls for a fixed rate, for example, per month without having to pay radio frequency air time charges any time they are located within their selected subscribed-to zones. If the subscribed-to zones are adjacent to one another and the mobile subscriber roams from one zone to another, the subscriber may continue their free call uninterrupted and without paying air time charges. However, when the subscriber roams outside their subscribed-to zones they may be switched from the present local cordless-type services to conventional personal communications services and pay air time charges. However for an active call, no air-time charges are incurred as the user transitions between the cellular/DPCS environment and the local cordless service environment. Associated apparatus comprises an IBS for automatically changing radio frequency channels as the subscriber roams within a subscribed-to neighborhood zone, roams to another subscribed-to zone or roams outside a subscribed-to zone. Subscribers may choose to use their mobile identification number, their current directory telephone number for wired public switched telephone service or obtain a new directory number. Subscribers can actuate their service over-the-air automatically without service personnel assistance from their home neighborhood zone.

Intelligent menu ordering system

A methodology for customers seeking to purchase a meal from a food service vendor such as a restaurant, a cafeteria, or a vending machine, by ordering a food preparation based upon menu-selections. In addition to receiving ordered food, customers receive suggestions for optionally modifying their food orders based upon nutritional benefits and other criteria. Either during real-time customer-ordering or during post-ordering, a food-service vendor presents a customer suggestions specific to a pending tentative or completed order, wherein the customer may enjoy purported nutritional benefits by electing to follow these suggestions and thereby modify the tentative order into a corresponding completed order. Alternatively, the customer may elect to ignore these suggestions, but may nonetheless decide to effect such food-ordering modifications during subsequent visits. The food selection criteria implemented by a food service vendor is independent of individual customer identity and preferences, and are flexible and readily adaptable to accommodate changes such as a food service vendor's marketing strategy, customer-food preferences, discoveries pertaining to nutrition and consequent good health; and may be adapted to a plethora of food service environments. The preferred embodiment contemplates a restaurant environment in which customers typically approach a food-ordering counter and interface with both a menu display and with order-taking personnel. Other embodiments implicate kiosks, vending machines, remote access devices, and locally and remotely-accessed networked computers, wherein customers interact with automated computer-driven devices instead of or in addition to wait-staff or other food service personnel.

Multifunctional telemetry alert safety system (MTASS)

A personnel accountability and situational awareness monitoring communications system for emergency personnel that comprises wireless network-adaptable monitoring devices, peripherals and base station console software for telemetry monitoring of real-time information at a plurality of personnel accountability and situational awareness parameters of critical data about the safety, health and whereabouts of first responders deployed in typically hazardous environments. Exterior incident command, including fire, rescue, safety and other emergency agencies achieve real-time command view and control over a variety of personnel accountability and safety parameters during emergency response activities of personnel wearing the system of the present invention portable device while operating within the wireless network of an emergency incident scene. Configured to be carried by emergency services personnel while deployed on scene, the portable device is a multi-functional sensing and communicating integration of accountability and situational awareness technologies consolidated into one portable, telemetry device. The portable device's multifunctional integrated technology includes the monitoring, telemetry and alert notification of accountability identification, location, assignment notification, vital signs, ambient vicinity temperature, SCBA status, combustible gas sensing, video streaming, “evacuation” recall signaling, signal tracking and multi-alarm signaling if the wearer has either low remaining air pressure/time, impending thermal breakthrough, low battery power, exceeds the safety threshold for safe heart rate or external body temperature readings, or becomes motionless for a predetermined time period.

Method and apparatus for tracking remote ends of networking cables

This specialized networking cable includes a plurality of twisted copper wire pairs encased in a flexible sheath for effectuating transmissive interconnections, electrically activated telltales affixed to both ends of the cable at positions adjacent to and connected to at least one of the copper wire pairs for providing an identification signal when activated; and means for selectively applying a current to the cable that activates the telltales and does not interfere with the flow of data through the cable whereby the telltales may be activated on at least one of the twisted copper pairs. An LED and an electric power connector suitable for plug-in connection of a power pack are affixed to the cable adjacent each end such that both LEDs are lighted whenever power is applied to either of the electrical connectors. The attendant illumination of the LEDs readily indicates where both ends of the networking cable are located. The networking cable also may be used for convenient telephonic communication by service personnel. One embodiment includes the cable as described above except with one end having a connector mateable with a standard Category 5 networking cable thereby providing for a standard networking cable to be converted into a specialized networking cable usable for tracing cable ends.

Vehicle information long-distance detecting method, system and device

The invention discloses a vehicle information long-distance detecting method, system and device, which are used for solving the problems that the prior art cannot obtain the faults occurring on a vehicle in time, the problem processing efficiency is influenced, and certain potential safety hazards exist. The vehicle information long-distance detecting system comprises a detecting terminal mounted in a vehicle and a server; the detecting terminal is connected with an OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) interface on the vehicle through an OBD slot, so as to obtain data information of the vehicle and send the data information to the server through a communication interface. The detecting terminal in the invention is connected with the OBD interface on the vehicle through the OBD slot, so that the data information of the vehicle can be actively obtained. The data information of the vehicle comprises at least one of fault information of the vehicle and vehicle condition information of the vehicle, and can send the data information of the vehicle to a server end, so that a service personnel at a server side can monitor the state of each vehicle at anytime, and notices the user to process in time. Therefore, the processing efficiency of the faults can be improved, and the vehicle driving security can be improved.
