A
system and method are described herein for generating a visual indicator in a
loudspeaker to identify a location of the
loudspeaker in a room, the
system and method comprising: at least two
loudspeaker assemblies, each of which are adapted to receive digitally encoded audio signals and other digital signals, each of the at least two loudspeaker assemblies having a unique digital address and each comprising at least one loudspeaker; at least one processor communicatively coupled to each of the at least two loudspeaker assemblies; an
input device communicatively coupled to the at least one processor; and a memory operatively connected with the at least one processor, wherein the memory stores computer-
executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to execute a method that comprises: receiving an input from the
input device at the at least one processor, the input indicating which one of the at least two loudspeaker assemblies to identify a location thereof; generating a message to be transmitted to the indicated loudspeaker
assembly, wherein the message contains commands and data to generate a visual indicator in the indicated loudspeaker
assembly; transmitting the message to the indicated loudspeaker
assembly; and generating the visual indicator according to the message at the indicated loudspeaker assembly.
