In described embodiments, a system establishes a perimeter around an area, and mobile devices within the established perimeter communicate with a server that provides and collects personal and asset safety information. The provided information might enable users associated with the mobile devices to plan actions or take routes based on a given criteria, such as a safest route, through display on the mobile device. The collected information from the mobile device might be location, emergency event, environmental factors, sensor information and the like, which might then be communicated to users and/or administrators of the system. Location information, such as through global positioning system (GPS), might provide tracking of mobile devices and users or assets associated with each mobile device. GPS functionality associates latitude, longitude and elevation (X-Y-Z coordinate axis) data with the collected and provided information.

A method and apparatus for the maintenance of mechanized equipment such as an automobile is disclosed. Various sensors located within the automobile provide information to an on-board computing device, a personal digital assistant, or a local computing device which are networkable to a network such as the Internet. A system and method for managing the workflow for processing Service Orders among a variety of organizations within a telecommunications company. The system and method coordinates all of the tasks and activities related to order processing among the various entities within the telecommunications company. Workflows are used to model business procedures used for processing Service Orders. Each workflow comprises a plurality of workflow steps. Business process models are depicted as workflow diagrams. Upon receipt of a Service Order, an appropriate Work Plan is selected based on information within the Service Order. Each workflow step is assigned a Resource and is scheduled for completion. The Workflow steps are then placed in In-boxes associated with the selected Resource. Once the processing steps have been scheduled, a current work step is calculated. Notification messages are sent to the appropriate systems to notify them to begin activity associated with the current work step. The system is automatically notified when the current work step is complete, so that the next work step can be processed in a similar fashion. Detailed statistical information is maintained for audit and reporting purposes. Users log-on to remote workstations coupled with a company-wide Intranet or the like. From the remote workstations, users from various organizations view their In-boxes and other detailed information about Service Orders according to selectable requests. Generally, the present invention automatically monitors the travel of vehicles in response to requests from users at remote locations. In this regard, a user at a remote location submits a vehicle indicator (such as a bus number, for example) and a location indicator (such as a bus stop number, for example) to a data manager at a vehicle tracking system. The data manager automatically retrieves travel data and location data based on the vehicle indicator and the location indicator. The travel data indicates the current location of the vehicle identified by the vehicle value, and the location data represents a location along the vehicle's route of travel. The data manager then compares the travel data and the location data in order to determine whether the vehicle is a predetermined proximity from the location represented by the location data. When the vehicle is a predetermined proximity from the location identified by the location data (i.e., arrival of the vehicle at the location is imminent), the data manager automatically transmits a notification message to the user at the remote location.

The present invention provides a system and method for providing real-time wireless network monitoring and intrusion detection. The present invention profiles wireless devices and maintains a database of known/authorized wireless device profiles. Wireless devices are analyzed to determine the threat level they pose to the network, and if the threat level exceeds a predetermined threshold, the invention refuses to bridge the network traffic from the wireless devices to the wired network. The present invention provides reporting of the wireless network activity, the known and unknown wireless devices, and the threat levels posed by the wireless devices. An information monitoring and alert system is provided which registers subscribers and verifiers with a central alert system. The alert system provides an interface for the verifiers to submit queries relating to identification information. Each quadrant of the ring may be illuminated individually or together using an LED to indicate the messages and notifications. When the package is assigned to a vehicle that will deliver the package to a premises of the recipient, the system manager transmits, via the communications device, a notification message to the recipient.
