1970 results about "Notification system" patented technology

In information technology, a notification system is a combination of software and hardware that provides a means of delivering a message to a set of recipients. It commonly shows activity related to an account. Such systems constitute an important aspect of modern Web applications.

System and method for managing the workflow for processing service orders among a variety of organizations within a telecommunications company

A system and method for managing the workflow for processing Service Orders among a variety of organizations within a telecommunications company. The system and method coordinates all of the tasks and activities related to order processing among the various entities within the telecommunications company. Workflows are used to model business procedures used for processing Service Orders. Each workflow comprises a plurality of workflow steps. Business process models are depicted as workflow diagrams. Upon receipt of a Service Order, an appropriate Work Plan is selected based on information within the Service Order. Each workflow step is assigned a Resource and is scheduled for completion. The Workflow steps are then placed in In-boxes associated with the selected Resource. Once the processing steps have been scheduled, a current work step is calculated. Notification messages are sent to the appropriate systems to notify them to begin activity associated with the current work step. The system is automatically notified when the current work step is complete, so that the next work step can be processed in a similar fashion. Detailed statistical information is maintained for audit and reporting purposes. Users log-on to remote workstations coupled with a company-wide Intranet or the like. From the remote workstations, users from various organizations view their In-boxes and other detailed information about Service Orders according to selectable requests. Workflow steps can be transferred and re-assigned using the remote workstations. Detailed statistical information is maintained for audit and reporting purposes. Reports reflecting the effectiveness of workforce management and work administration is obtained.

Programming model for subscription services

The present invention relates to a subscription modeling system and methodology. A query processor receives subscription query and subscriber information and transforms the query and subscriber information into data. An index component propagates at least one database with the transformed data; and a matching component that associates the transformed data with event data to generate a database of notification data that can be delivered to subscribers. The invention provides for abstracting subscription and subscriber information (as well as event information if desired) to high-level classes (e.g., data fields)—thus the invention provides for modeling such notification related information as data. Subscription applications can thus be developed at high levels wherein complex subscription queries and subscriber information can be defined as data fields for example. Databases in accordance with the data fields can be propagated with subscription/subscriber specific information. The present invention takes advantages of the processing power associated with database engines (e.g., SQL server) to generate notifications via performing a join operation on the databases (e.g., subscription database(s), subscriber database(s) and event database(s)). Accordingly, notifications are generated en masse as compared to per subscription per subscriber. Thus the present invention provides for a highly scalable and efficient notification system.

Vehicle exterior mirror system with signal light

An exterior mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a signal light that provides an advanced notification system to approaching vehicles that the driver of the vehicle intends to turn or make a lane change. The exterior mirror assembly includes a housing with a reflective element and a positioning device for adjusting the position of the reflective element in the housing, and at least one signal light positioned in the housing. The signal light includes a light source and a light conduiting member which is adapted to project a pattern of light from the housing and yet restrict light from extending into the vehicle so that a driver seated in the vehicle does not directly observe the pattern of light. The light source may be provided by a light pipe which is optically coupled to a remote light source located, for example, in the vehicle. Preferably, the pattern of light extends rearwardly, forwardly, and laterally from the vehicle. In one form, the light conduiting member includes a light input surface on one end and at least one light emitting surface for directing light outwardly from the housing of the exterior mirror assembly. In another form, the exterior mirror assembly incorporates a signal light which includes a plurality of reflective surfaces for directing light forwardly, rearwardly, and laterally from the vehicle but restricts light from entering into the vehicle and distracting the driver. In yet another form, the exterior mirror assembly includes a powerfold mirror system which incorporates a security light in either the folding portion or non-folding portion of the powerfold mirror system.
