Intradermal delivery device and method

The subject intradermal delivery device provides for penetration to a fixed depth without requiring special expertise by the user. The device consists of a syringe nested inside an inner shell and an outer shell. An elongated annular channel is formed between the inner shell and the outer shell. A housing receives the syringe and concentric shells in a sliding engagement. A first seal on the distal end of the housing forms a variable length channel in communication with the elongated annular channel via a port formed in the outer shell. When the device is applied to the skin, the housing and syringe are slid towards the skin, and the variable length channel generates a vacuum which forces the skin to bulge into the elongated annular channel. As a result, the skin is tensioned across the inner shell to form a substantially planar, taut target area of skin. The taut target area of skin in combination with a stop on the housing determines the insertion depth of the syringe.

Deriving Input from Six Degrees of Freedom Interfaces

The present invention relates to interfaces and methods for producing input for software applications based on the absolute pose of an item manipulated or worn by a user in a three-dimensional environment. Absolute pose in the sense of the present invention means both the position and the orientation of the item as described in a stable frame defined in that three-dimensional environment. The invention describes how to recover the absolute pose with optical hardware and methods, and how to map at least one of the recovered absolute pose parameters to the three translational and three rotational degrees of freedom available to the item to generate useful input. The applications that can most benefit from the interfaces and methods of the invention involve 3D virtual spaces including augmented reality and mixed reality environments.

Method and apparatus for providing translucent images on a computer display

A method and apparatus is described for producing a translucent image over a base image created on the display screen of a computer system by a selected first application program, and conducting image operations either on the base image created by the selected application program with reference to the translucent image produced, or conducting image operations on the translucent image with reference to the base image of the first application program. The first application program runs on a central processing unit (CPU) of a computer system to produce a base image, and another application program referred to as the overlay program is run to produce the translucent image such that portions of the base image which are overlapped by the overlay image are at least partially visible through the translucent image. There is also a mechanism for blending the first video data and the second video data to produce a blended image on the screen assembly.

Dynamically enabling guest device supporting network-based media sharing protocol to share media content over computer network with subset of media devices connected thereto

A media system includes a computer network, a plurality of media devices coupled to the computer network, and a system controller coupled to the computer network. The computer network allows a guest device supporting a network-based media sharing protocol to be coupled thereto. The computer network by default prevents the guest device from utilizing the network-based media sharing protocol to share media content with the media devices. The system controller selects a subset of the media devices for which media sharing is to be enabled for the guest device, the subset including at least one of the media devices but not all of the media devices. The system controller dynamically reconfigures components of the computer network in response to an event occurrence to enable the guest device to utilize the network-based media sharing protocol to share media over the computer network with only the subset of the media devices.

Interrupt dispatching method in multi-core environment and multi-core processor

Disclosed is an interrupt dispatching system and method in a multi-core processor environment. The processor includes an interrupt dispatcher and N cores capable of interrupt handling which are divided into a plurality of groups of cores, where N is a positive integer greater than one. The method generates a token in response to an arriving interrupt; determines a group of cores to be preferentially used to handle the interrupt as a hot group in accordance with the interrupt; and sends the token to the hot group, determines sequentially from the first core in the hot group whether an interrupt dispatch termination condition is satisfied, and determines the current core as a response core to be used to handle the interrupt upon determining satisfaction of the interrupt dispatch termination condition. With the invention, delay in responding to an interrupt by the processor is reduced providing optimized performance of the processor.

A software-integrated disposable kit contains a series of sterile packages which hold instrumented surgical tools, surgical accessories, user input computer controlling peripherals (e.g. mouse, keyboard), markers, and a one time use digital medium. When image guided surgery is to be performed, the digital medium is inserted into the computer and the user interface is displayed. The digital medium stores a portion of the software which, in combination with software on the computer, provides all of the software necessary for full user functionality (e.g. display diagnostic image information, tracking surgical instruments, superimposition of surgical tools). At the end of a surgical procedure, the digital medium is deactivated or encrypted and the used surgical tools are then disposed of without reuse. The system allows the user to save relevant information obtained from the surgery (e.g. images, notes) on the digital medium which is encrypted against reuse and archived.

System for handling processed meat and poultry products

Food products, such as precooked meats, sausages, and the like are microbially decontaminated in their cooking packages to remove surface microorganism contamination from the packages. The cooking packages are removed and the food products optionally subjected to further processing, such as slicing, and then packaged in aseptic packaging. The microbial decontamination step, further processing and packaging are carried out in a clean room which is maintained to a high level of sterilization or disinfection to minimize or eliminate contamination of the food products with pathogenic microorganisms such as Listeria Monocytogenes. The food products thus leave the packaging plant with a much higher assurance of food safety than is found in a conventional packaging plant.
