A method of processing information in a tire pressure monitoring system includes the steps of: establishing a reference temperature; determining a pressure warning threshold at the reference temperature; measuring gauge pressure and gauge temperature within a tire cavity; correcting the gauge pressure to a filtered pressure value at the reference temperature using the Ideal Gas Law; and comparing the filtered pressure value against the pressure warning threshold to determine the necessity for a warning signal. In an advanced form of the invention, the method includes determining a pressure leak rate; predicting the time interval that the filtered pressure value will cross the pressure warning threshold at the leak rate and generating progressive warnings to the driver over the time interval. Fuzzy logic is used to quantify the probability of a warning state for each data point, allow for measurement error; and report the state of maximum probability to minimize the occurrence of false warning. A warning utility function is derived based upon a combination of the filtered pressure and leak rate.

A distributed flow control system and method for GPRS networks to control and regulate data flow between multiple sources and a single destination within a GPRS network. The present invention is a hermetic seal leak detection apparatus, which can be used to test for hermetic seal leaks in instruments and containers. A vacuum tight chamber is created around the unit being tested to minimize gas space outside of the hermetic seal. A vacuum inducing device is then used to increase the gas chamber volume inside the device, so that a slight vacuum is pulled on the unit being tested. The pressure in the unit being tested will stabilize. If the stabilized pressure reads close to a known good seal calibration, there is not a leak in the seal. If the stabilized pressure reads closer to a known bad seal calibration value, there is a leak in the seal. An apparatus and a method for testing the integrity of fuel tanks for leaks are disclosed. A microprocessor controls the pressurization of the fuel tank and then selectively allows the gas within the fuel tank to decay through any leaks within the tank or through the combination of the leaks within the tank and a reference orifice. By computing and comparing the time required for the tank pressure to decay between predetermined pressure levels due to any tank leaks with a standard decay time, a determination can be made whether the leakage rate through the tank is acceptable. Greater resolution, if necessary, is provided by computing the ratio of the time required for the tank pressure to decay between predetermined pressure levels through the combination of any tank leaks and a reference orifice versus only through the tank leaks and compares same against a standard ratio to determine whether the tank leakage rate is acceptable.
